Hi @CakesCakes, I had a good experience with microblading but this is based on my personal expectation of my results and not the procedure itself. Although numbing cream was used, the actual procedure was painful for me; similar to what @mmmiu stated in her earlier post. My technician noticed me wince on the first cut and she paused to ask me if it was bearable. I told her she could continue and she talked me through the procedure, telling me how long I had to go at different points. This was good but I would rather have had a painless experience. The pain was bearable for me (like paper cuts) but everyone's pain tolerance differs. Maybe ask your technician if you could arrive earlier to your appointment so the numbing cream can stay on longer.
My healing process was pretty smooth. I loved the look right after the procedure and I noticed scabs forming on day 2. My tech told me to apply coconut oil and reapply whenever I see my brows drying out. Although I didn't like walking around with shiny brows, I think it helped reduce the itching as I hardly experienced any. They looked much darker during the healing period as the scabs grew. I kept them away from water by pulling my shower cap over my brows in the shower and washing my face with a damp towel instead of splashing with water. On day 10 or so the scabs started to lift and peel so I rubbed them off with a damp cloth. After the scabs came off, I noticed that the once sharp strokes were now more diffused. The overall effect looked as if my brows were filled in, not like I had more individual brow hairs. I did a bit of research on why I got different results than I had seen in others' before and after pictures. I found a few places that claim applying an ointment or oil during healing causes the pigment to spread and that dry healing gives you more defined results. Also, oily skin types get more diffused strokes and microblading in general doesn't last as long on oilier skins. My skin is pretty oily so I figure that explains my results. I also figured that most "after" pictures are taken as soon as the procedure is finished so of course the strokes look defined.
I went back after 5 weeks for a touch up and it was just as painful but at least I was prepared and of course she didn't have to do as many strokes as the first time. She filled in some areas that looked a bit sparse and I was happy with the shape in the end. I decided to not use any oil after the touch up to see if the strokes would heal less diffused. I didn't really see a difference. Overall, I'm happy with my results. Although it looks like I just filled my brows in, they look much fuller than before and I get to wake up with filled in brows everyday. It was worth it just for that. It's been 3 moths since my first appointment and I haven't noticed any fading yet. I would do microblading again when this eventually fades. I would just try to leave the numbing cream on longer or find one that numbs me in a timely manner. Hope this helps! Pictures below!
