Mascara removal

I have a devil of a time getting mascara off.  Is there a technique to getting it all off?

Is there a specific remover I should be using?

@Ricamae I wash my face when I get home from work with Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Wash, which is also part makeup remover.  Then before I go to bed, I use MUFE Sens'Eyes; then, I was my face with the face wash.  I find doing this in two steps is so much easier.

Re: Mascara removal

i love using aloe vera wipes to take off my makeup!

RE: Mascara removal

Any oil based eye makeup remover and follow up with Purity face wash. 🙂 That usually does the trick for me. With my hands, I use Neutrogena oil cleanser first and then follow up with purity face wash.

Re: Mascara removal

Honestly hon, just use coconut oil! It's multi purpose, so there's a good chance you already have some lying around the house. It's messy, but if you put a little on your fingertips and rub them over your lashes, the mascara melts right off! Side note: a little goes a long way with this stuff so be careful how much you use 🙂

@Ricamae I agree with @cosmeticsnyc SHISEIDO COTTON is the best. I use it with CLINIQUE Take The Day Off Makeup Remover and with 2-3 swipes everything is removed.

RE: Mascara removal

I find that, especially given the influx of eye-makeup removal liquids on the market, it's easy to forget that your applicator matters! Tissues and even cotton balls/pads can pull apart or roll up during use, making the removal product ineffective and irritating your eyes. Personally, I'm a big fan of the Shiseido cotton pads, which have a silky feel and are padded enough inside not to crumple up under heavy waterproof makeup removers. Beware of rough drugstore cotton pads where you can see the fibers matting up.

Re: Mascara removal

Hey there. Have you tried the Face Halo? I just received mine and so far so good. I like it because it removes makeup with just water. Right now I have eyelash extensions, but I still am using mascara on my bottom lashes and it works great.

RE: Mascara removal

I like to use coconut oil, it works really good even for waterproof mascara

RE: Mascara removal

I use loreal micellar water and eye make remover. Fresh soy cleanser is great too. I have tried the Clinique make up remover balm but not a fan. Sephora waterproof make up remover is good for really dark mascara but it's oily. I use it only on days when i am wearing heavy eye make up which is rare.

Re: Mascara removal

The Clinique Rinse-Off Eye Makeup cleaner is what I've used for years. It really works (the blue one).

RE: Mascara removal

I love PHILOSOPHY Just Release Me™ Dual-Phase Oil-Free Makeup Remover. I have super sensitive eyes and it doesn't burn or irritate my eyes. I haven't tried the others that the other lovely ladies have mentioned but I also soak the cotton ball. Hold it over my eye lashes for about 30 seconds, wipe, and my mascara comes off just fine.

Re: Mascara removal

I wish micellar water didn't burn my eyes lol, everyone seems to love that! I use the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm: https://www.sephora.com/product/take-the-day-off-cleansing-balm-P126301?skuId=886267&icid2=products%...

It's so simple to use, just massage a little bit on your eyes and let it sit a bit then rinse. This takes it all off! Not just hard to get off mascara but all makeup. It's pretty amazing and a little goes a long way!

Re: Mascara removal

For really tough mascara, I use either coconut oil or vaseline after using my micellar water but before cleansing.

Re: Mascara removal

I follow the same technique as @stephgrajeda - using a cotton ball soaked with micellar water and holding it to the eye for a minute or two, then wiping gently.  I like using Bioderma Sensibio H2O micellar water (red cap), though when I'm using waterproof mascara I do find that after removing my makeup and then cleansing I have to go back with a q-tip and micellar water to get the last bits off

I justed started using the garnier micellar water waterproof (its the light blue one). soak a cotton pad and hold it gently on your eye for awhile then wipe. Works good so better than the new URBAN DECAY makeup remover.
