It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

I wanted to start this thread as a place to share about a beauty tool or tools that have worked for you, be it something you use for your skin (e.g., gua sha, face roller, spetralite face mask, etc.), or your body (body gua sha, infrared PEMF mat), or  nails (e.g., glass file), or elsewhere.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

Thanks for the update @itsfi!

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@faeriegirl, happy to share my experience with this mat; so far, so good.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@itsfi This mat sounds neat. I have been hearing great things about infared. I will be doing some more reading about it.

I am happy to hear you are noticing some results. You can definitely habit stack with this !

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@Mellmars1185, I used the mat this morning, at Level 2, because my back was feeling tighter than usual - I had been moving things up and down stairs so I'm attributing the extra tightness to that. Still some achiness but there's more movement in my back, if that makes sense, and it feels less tight as well. This is one of those things (like so many things) where it'll be helpful to be consistent with it so a habit stack is definitely in the works - I want to find a stack / pairing that I'll be able to keep to regularly.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@itsfi I think I need 10 of these to cover my body after work haha.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

You made me laugh @Samtian 😂 but sooooo true. I need something like this but in the shape of a tanning bed. Lol

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

lol, how great would that be, @Samtian?!! Hoping this will help with managing pain and soreness in the long run; it would be really nice to have something to use at home.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

Thank you, @itsfi! I really need something for my back. This may make a nice Christmas gift for myself.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@curlychiquita, I'm sorry to hear you're having back pain. I've been trying different things for keeping flare ups at bay and am hoping this mat will help with the management of that. I'll keep you posted with how this works outs over time; if there's something in particular you're interested in about the mat, please let me know, here or in a PM.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

This sounds so promising @itsfi thanks for your thoughts on it. So glad it’s helping you! I am putting it on my wish gift list! Great thread too! 💞

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@Sunnysmom, thank you. Definitely wish list worthy!

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@itsfi so interesting! I'm glad it's working out for you.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@makeitup305, I wasn’t expecting results so quickly but am not complaining. Will be interesting to see what long term this might provide. 🤞🏼

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

Oooh, going on my Christmas list then! @itsfi

How have you been using the mat?  Are you sitting out lying flat/supine?

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@danielledanielle, I’ve used it in the following positions

- sitting upright - the mat was placed over my chair. This was okay. I felt the warmth in my glutes, hips and sides. I wasn’t able to find a comfortable position to feel warmth in my upper / middle back.

- supine / lying flat - this was good. The mat is not a full length, something to note. I’m 5’5-1/2” and this was fun for me. I propped my head on a pillow at the top of the mat. This way, I was able to feel the heat / warmth in my shoulders / upper back down to about mid-thigh.

- supine with knees bent - this allowed me really feel the warmth from the mat in my hips, glutes and back. Felt comfortable for the entire 20 minutes (auto shut off after 20, but you can do another round). This is my favorite position for using the mat.

- on my side, with emphasis on the hips and out thigh - a nice way to get some extra work / heat in specific areas.

NOTE: this is “half mat”. The brand offers a full length direct on its site - that’s $1K+

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

That's great, @itsfi!  You mentioned that you've been using it on the lowest setting but how many settings does it have?

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@CookieGirl1, it has four heat levels. I’m recalling some info from the packet that shares the temperature. Will look for that detail when I get home tonight.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@CookieGirl1, I may have confused seeing temperature information for each level with the sauna blanket from the brand. I didn't find that for the different levels on the mat. What I did see in the FAQ section was that the infrared heat on this mat can reach up to 70 degrees Celsius (or 158 degees Fahrenheit).

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@itsfi  Yay!!! 😁 so happy to hear this is working for you and you are seeing improvements! I can’t wait to hear more after more use!!! I will have to look into this more! Do you lay on it or sit? So exciting!!

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@ather, I’m so happy with this purchase! I’ve used it sitting and lying down. So far, lying on my back with my knees bent has worked best for me. I want to try it sitting again; may have to test out a few chairs to see what works best.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

Incredible thread idea! This mat is so interesting I love your plans on how you’re gonna use it and your initial impressions! This looks super relaxing. I’ll have to go through my stash and think of my fave tool I think right now it’s the SEPHORA COLLECTION SC X Wetbrush Treatment Hair Brush I use it everytime I wash my hair and it really helps smooth things out I love how my hair feels after and it really helps using the Vegamour GRO Scalp Massager with it too reach both my scalp and brush through hair. I even brush my hair dry with the wet brush I love it 🙂

thank you for the tag @itsfi ❤️
