It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

I wanted to start this thread as a place to share about a beauty tool or tools that have worked for you, be it something you use for your skin (e.g., gua sha, face roller, spetralite face mask, etc.), or your body (body gua sha, infrared PEMF mat), or  nails (e.g., glass file), or elsewhere.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

I do like the size of the Kate M @itsfi , it’s easy to maneuver 😆. I debated if a longer handle was better but went for more control for the first one I tried.:) I use the bar more frequently than the gua sha , not sure why except I think it may work better and so easy . Probably 4x a week tho I should do more. I do see decreased puffiness when I use it. I got it during a sale and agonized if I should do it! Glad I did. I think I need more skills with the gua sha and need to use it more.  Do you do it a bunch?

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@Sunnysmom, I was more consistent with the gua sha years back when I first started using it and thought it was worth it, but like most things, consistency is key.  I plan to revisit the gua sha tool this and next month, so we'll see. 🤞

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@itsfi Excellent thread idea! I will think of some tools that I use. Some off the top of my head are

SEPHORA COLLECTION Silicone Scalp Massager Blue (an older version) for when I use scalp oil

SEPHORA COLLECTION Slant Tweezer (pink) - to clean up my brows

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

💯 to tweezers @Mellmars1185! They come in handy for a number of things but brow maintenance for sure! I’ve tried the pointed ones and the slanted ones; both work nicely but at least for me, the slanted ones make it easier to clean up my brows quickly and consistently.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@itsfi I have never tried the pointed ones! I am not quite sure what the difference is?

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

Sorry for just now getting back to this @Mellmars1185. For me, the pointed tips are better for precision - when I'm trying to get to a brow hair that is in a cluster of other hairs and I don't want to pull out extra hairs - I'm not always great or patient so this style helps. I also use a pointed tweezer to remove nail art stickers from the sheet; I find it makes it easier to remove without tearing the sticker.

Slanted tips have the flat side that makes it easier for me to get under the hair. I only know there's the two different kinds (or three) because I picked up a couple of sets over the years -

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@itsfi Thank you so much for sharing this!

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@itsfi great idea for a thread!

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@greeneyedgirl107, thank you. If there's been a beauty tool that has worked well (or not) for you, would love to hear about your experiences.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

I purchased the HigherDOSE Infrared PEMF Go Mat for Recovery and Stress Reduction and plan to start putting it to use. Will revisit this page to post updates.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@itsfi

Whoa, I have that HighDose Mat, I bought mine on Amazon. Sephora Canada def doesn’t have it. Yours looks smaller maybe, is it the full body one? Mine weighs about 45 lbs.

In CDN I think I paid about $1700 for mine. It does work! I work out everyday from home, sometimes twice, and at the end of the day I’m super sore. This helps and I get such a good sleep.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

Ooouh, you have the full size @GG84?!! Niiiiice! This is the “on the go” half mat size - it’s 11 lbs. I’ve had it for a little more than a week and it has not disappointed. I’m hoping it will help with my sleep so it is very heartening to hear how well the mat has worked for you. 👍🏼

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@itsfi  Oh wow! I had no idea Sephora sold this! It looks wonderful! 🤤😍

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

I’ve been happy with it so far @Shosh85; hoping I can be consistent with using it. 🤞🏼

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

I don’t know if this counts but I LOVE the little clips that pull your hair back👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

Chunks Allie Hair Clips Kelly  (my fav)

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@charleigh16, hair tools like these cute Chunks clips 💚 absolutely count!!! At my last hair appointment, I asked for curtain bangs and hair clips have come in handy on those days I don’t want to fuss with doing my hair. 😊 I love the Kelly green shade on these clips; i imagine they would show up beautifully on every hair color!

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

This is a fascinating thread idea @itsfi. Thank you for starting it. 🙏 Beauty tools deserve these discussions.  There are soon many out there and I know I'm eager to hear what is loved by our community. I'll be back after I go through some of mine. 😉

Your infrared matt is sooooo intriguing. I'm so happy to hear it's giving you some relief. ❤️

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@CynthieLu, the mat is definitely a fun new toy. I want to be consistent with it; feeling that will be a key factor in results - isn't that always the way, especially with beauty tools.

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

I've put the HigherDOSE Infrared PEMF Go Mat for Recovery and Stress Reduction to use every day during the long weekend, and I have to say, my initial impressions are good. 😊

Usage:
  • 5 consecutive days
  • 20 minutes each day
  • at the lowest setting (Level 1)

Body Condition BEFORE Using the Higher Dose PEMF Mat:
  • Soreness in left shoulder - at base of neck, just above the shoulder blade
  • Achiness / tightness along right hip

Body Condition AFTER Using the PEMF Mat for Five Consecutive Days:
  • Left shoulder feels less sore, has better movement and flexibility to it
  • Right hip is a lot less tight

What's Next?:
  • I plan on using this at least 3x per week, possibly nightly. Will post that routine to Habit Stacking Thread 📚, once I figure out the best way to incorporate it into my current evening wind down routine.
  • I'll experiment with the settings and post updates to this thread about my experience with the mat, periodically, moving forward.

Initial Impressions:
Well, I'll be, this does work! At least, so far. Will be back later with update(s) but so far, I am very happy with this purchase and based on my experience over the last 5 days, I'd recommend this mat!  👍

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

@itsfi  thanks for the tag! I'm glad the mat is working well for you so far!

Re: It's Tool Time - The BIC Beauty Edition

Thank you @caitbird! It's been even more of a treat now that the cold weather has decided to stay. 😂
