Community Relaunch Tonight

Hi BeautyTalkers!

It’s time! The changes that we’ve been talking about are going down TONIGHT. What changes, do you ask? Come tomorrow, our community will have a whole new look!

Because we’re all holding hands, we want to make sure we keep you in the loop on our plan.

Tonight from 7-7:30 pm PST the community will be down! At 7:30 pm it will appear to be back up and you will be able to see some of the changes we’ve been talking about.

From 7:30 pm through (roughly) 8 am PST tomorrow, we will be making a ton of crazy changes. During this time we advise you to please refrain from posting in the community so your contributions are not lost. If you do post during this time, we cannot guarantee that your content will make it to the new community as we are deconstructing the categories and migrating all of the content. You’re welcome to hang out and watch, but it won’t be pretty. 🙂

Once it’s up in the morning, please note that this is a BETA launch, so we’ll still be working out the kinks. As soon as we are live tomorrow morning, we will open a new thread to for you guys to report anything you see that’s wonky, or ask any questions about the new experience.

Omg I honestly got a headache trying to navigate the new launch. I realize this is a beta site so I am still hopeful. But I have got to say, it is sad to see everyone's DPs gone 😞

hi @KatieBT I didn't see a new thread opened up by you guys for bugs; does that mean the migration is not over? Here are a couple things I'm noticing: 

1. You can't reply to a reply. 

2. Threads are missing. Is that people the thread owners haven't agreed to terms and conditions? Or signed in? 

3. The hierarchy of thread replies stacks on top instead of underneath; is that by design? 

I know, firsthand, how hard new software and application roll outs are; especially ones that incorporate years of data. You guys did well! It'll all get sorted out in a few days. Thanks!

I have noticed that as well. One of my recently created posts is gone but the other is still here. I have agreed to the T&C.

Now that I have spent some time (several hours) acquainting myself with this new layout, I must say, Sephora is becoming harder to navigate. The site has gone from pretty well organized and streamlined to kinda choppy and doesn't flow seamlessly anymore. I have been a part of communities that have undergone large overhauls that stressed me out at first but I adjusted to fairly quickly, finding how to navigate proficiently within an hour or so. I cannot say the same for this new community. The entire website now feels foreign and like it is one big Beta version that needs to be fixed soon even though these changes have taken place rather gradually. Seems like a step back was taken rather than moving forward.

Edit: I would like to add that it all looks good, it is definitely aesthetically pleasing. However, I think most of us can agree, as beauty enthusiasts, we value function just as much, if not more(most likely more), as we do looks.

@KatieBT And I can't tell how to check my hearts.  Did they all go away?

@greeneyedgirl107 at the main Conversations page in the upper left area look for where it says "My Post".  Click on that.  Your hearts will be on the right side.  They are still there 🙂

@AMK721 Thanks!  I just wasn't understanding where to click!  Now I just need to figure out how to navigate the rest of the site!

@greeneyedgirl107 your hearts haven't gone away! I assume you're looking at your profile and not seeing them which is correct, hearts aren't in your Community profile. Since your profile contains info on Conversations (BT), The Gallery and Ratings & reviews you need to go to "My Posts" (or "All Posts" on someone else) to view heart count for all your contributions from BT. It's on the top right of the Conversation Activity page.

All of the hearts are still here! Buuuut, the only way I've found to see your heart count (via profile) is to click "View all" under your Posts section on your profile.

Agree! The old site definately had issues but I can't find anything! Call me lazy, but after working  13+ hour days my poor mind can't take much else lol. Since this is a beta site can we hope for less clutter?

My email is getting FLOODED with emails from Beauty Talk saying all these different people are merging heeds together.. it's been less than 40 minutes and I'm at 649 emails an counting... I try loading to see what it says and to unsubscribe but it won't work.... Each time I delete the emails they just redo load again 😞
