Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Oh I relate.  They make me look sickly.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

If something is backordered, say so from the beginning. Dont have the item up for sale when you dont even have it in your warehouse yet. 😐

{for those curious, this has happened 2x when ordering masks from Pat McGrath direct. 1st time, I was kept in the dark. It wasnt until I reached out & asked why my package was almost taking a month to get to me. 'Oh, our shipment got delayed 2x we expect it to ship around such such date- a week later. This time masks again, but they made a note - days after I ordered & no response again- on the items page. Expected to ship 9/28. Ok, 9/28 came & went. No shipping. Reached out. Generic response. Your items are being processed. Blah, blah. Now it says to be shipped out 10/2. Sorry, rant over}😡

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@sonnydee Guess I won’t be getting a tracking for mine either till Friday.  I know when I ordered mine it was a preorder that was scheduled to ship 9/28.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

I ordered mine 9/19 the day I got the email. @SportyGirly125 if it was a preorder. Great. Tell me

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@sonnydee Masks are delayed again.  Now on the website it says 10/5.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@sonnydee I ordered it the day the email came out and saw on the product page when I added it to cart that it wasn’t scheduled to ship till 9/28. I didn’t follow up with it and was going to give it a couple of days for the tracking #

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

THE COST OF INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING.

Like, I get it. I really do. But my favourite brand of lipsticks is Besame and they're based in California and I'm in Canada. So to have shipping with a tracking number costs a stupid amount of money...which gets multiplied when you take the exchange rate right now into account...

It's definitely prohibitive so you better believe I use those lipsticks to the last possible ounce.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

I hate when domestic shipping costs more than the item(S) you've purchased.  That's a huge no buy for me.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@GlitterQueen83  Shipping costs are a huge deterrent for me as well though it’s the duties that scare me the most.   I don’t like unknowns and wondering how much I’m ACTUALLY paying for that palette.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

What's worse than TSA pawing through your belongings at airports? This:

Never a good sign. (Grey block-out bars & blurred barcodes done by me.)Never a good sign. (Grey block-out bars & blurred barcodes done by me.)

It's my order from By Terry direct. It shipped from France in late August. It arrived in the US—in my city, even—the next day. Then US Customs held it hostage—er, put it in "clearance event" status. For a month. AN ENTIRE MONTH, Y'ALL. That's the longest i've ever had a package held by customs. "Maybe the delay was due to covid?" Sure, some mail delays I expect and understand. But I've had no issues receiving packages direct from Korea and Japan, and haven't heard that packages from France (or anywhere else in Europe) are under increased customs scrutiny lately. 🤷‍♀️ I just know my innocent French package sat in a Chicago facility FOR AN ENTIRE MONTH before finally being released and delivered to me.

Customs had opened my package to "inspect" the contents because of course they did, for reasons unknown because they don't have to explain themselves. 🙄 Of the 4 items I ordered, only 2 were in the box, plus a couple of samples. The 2 missing items are travel sized powder products. Either By Terry forgot to include them before shipping, or someone at customs "lost" them and will likely "find" them in their pants/shirt/jacket pocket.

I've already emailed By Terry to see what recourse I have from their end. I don't wanna do the Where The Bleep Are My Bleeping "Lost" Items You Bleepheads (or, Why The Bleep Would You Bleeping "Confiscate" These Items Instead Of The Others) dance with US Customs. That never ends well with TSA and I expect nothing different from customs.

Also: this will be the last time I order direct from By Terry—and it's probably not the brand's fault, it's just that I don't wanna chance another customs clearance event. I normally order By Terry products from Nordstrom, Dermstore, SpaceNK, SkinStore/LookFantastic, etc. But I wanted the new pressed compact version of my favorite setting powder and, at the time, By Terry direct was the only place selling it. Impatience bit me hard this time. Lesson learned.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@WinglessOne oh I am so sorry! I feel like everyone has a bad TSA story. When I was carrying breast milk that was fun because only 1 of the like 20+ bags I had "had a potential trace of something hazardous on it" we had to wait and go through the rigmarole but thankfully did get to take it all. My lovely F U moment to  them was they went through one of my bags after my husband and I went rockhounding. Bet it was super fun unwrapping a bunch of clothes that were covering rocks that we could create cabochons with later. 😂 Not a fan of "security theater" as Adam Ruins Everything dubbed it. Hopefully By Terry will do right by you.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@WinglessOne  I’m so sorry you were subjected to such a terrible experience. My bet is on customs in terms of “lost” items. By Terry seems to be really meticulous with their orders. I ordered two big packages from them in July-August. They had a little system overload and a week long delay in shipment during sale but shipped everything perfectly intact and sent me a “we are sorry! 25% off” code for the holidays. And my packages didn’t get hold up by customs, but were cleared really fast. ☹️☹️☹️ I hope By Terry will be willing to come up with a way to soften the blow and help you get the missing items.
EDITED to ADD: I am not sure when you placed your order and whether this code would work on any order or just the ones placed in a specific timeframe of their system failure but maybe you could think of smth you would like to order before the end of October

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Thank you @Zvezdochka ! 😊 I'll try that code next time I order—if there is a next time. I'm so glad you got everything in your order! I kinda wonder if US Customs saw "hyaluronic acid" on the declarations label of my package and freaked out over that. One of the things I'd ordered was the new pressed powder compact of Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder, in both full size and mini/travel size. I got the full size but the mini is missing. Whichever customs agent stole my fabulous mini setting powder, I hope they're at least putting it to good use.

I've been communicating with By Terry and they're escalating my issue. Meanwhile, they're also sending me a replacement package—but not of the 2 mini/travel items I'm missing. Instead, they're sending me a full size original (loose powder) version of the Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder (my favorite setting powder ever) and a full size Lash-Expert Twist Brush mascara. 😍 Hopefully this package doesn't get stopped by customs!

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@WinglessOne  That’s so nice of By Terry to do that. It’s good to know they go above and beyond for their customers. I’m glad you are getting such amazing replacements. I had this mini version of pressed powder with hyaluronic acid in my order as well. I guess Chicago customs agents have way better taste in beauty products then the Atlanta ones (for some reason the package to DC goes through Atlanta) 😂😂😂 Lucky me 👻

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Maybe they have a policy of testing loose, powdery substances.  When we were stationed in CA, my mom and aunt flew out for a visit.  They always travel with their powdery, coffee creamer in a plastic container )the original container with label).  One time TSA left a note they had removed something.  Turned out it was half of their creamer stash.  Needless to say they carry it with them in carry on now.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@ragdoll4mom  See, TSA I can totally see removing powdered substances from luggage on a regular basis. US Customs, though... I mean, I figure they inspect packages, but I don't know what triggers their inspections, whereas I can guess what triggers TSA's. For starters, when TSA agents x-ray baggage, it's sometimes hard for them to tell what objects are based on shapes alone. A spare USB cord layered over a large bottle of body lotion could look very suspicious, for instance. Whenever I check luggage, I expect either TSA to open it or the airline to lose (eh, reroute) it. Which is why I haven't checked luggage in 20 years. 🤣 I travel as light as possible.

Also, I wish US Customs would at least leave a note in the box to say they removed something. 😡

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Ugh, that's so aggravating, @WinglessOne. I'm sorry you ended up missing the powders after all that time too... It's really just salt in the wound. Hopefully By Terry can work something out for you!

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@WinglessOne I am shocked that your package was held for an entire month!  I too order internationally quite frequently and have never encountered this type of delay even during COVID!

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

I'm sorry to read about your shipment, @WinglessOne !  It seems pretty obvious that the two items were stolen since the packing slip is also missing.  I hope the company will replace the items without too much fuss.  💖💖💖

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@WinglessOne   Oh I hate that!  The worst is getting the slip that says they removed items from your luggage and then trying to figure out what’s missing because of course they never tell you.
