Omg that mirror is gorgeous! It doesn't fit 'me' but boy is that ever nice to look at! @AMK721
@heartsmyface A couple of things I notice. First, I really like the stool. Maybe you can use it in another room?
The mirror is really super big and high. Great for makeup, but it also raises the eyein the room. Most of the items in the room are mid level and lower which makes the mirror seem even more overwhelming and leaves a sort of gap between the very high mirror and the lower activity. The color of the stool is one that stands out (which is fine) but it's very squatty so the proportions seem a bit off
Maybe add a taller chair (with a back?). Maybe add some more interest on the walls to fill in the visual gap between high and low? Items in the same teal to bounce that color up on the walls (if you keep the stool there). Just some ideas. Not a decorator but I am an illustrator/designer. Kind of looking at your room as a drawing 😉
Thank you so much! Yeah I think the stool needs to be banished to my walk in closet. I'm realizing it's something that I've always loved from afar but that doesn't fit my personal asthetic if that makes sense. A black and silver chair would be way more "me".:). @jozkid
I definitely need to look at something for the walls. I've never paid much attention to wall art before but it's looking necessary to pull things together. Lol, if I look at this from a face-of-makeup perspective it makes more sense:>
@heartsmyface I think you feel like it's out of place because you have nothing else in that color in that room. Just like many have said below. You just need repetition so it fits in better you know. Of course black or white would fit in now but if you want pops of color like the stool you'll need to find some decor and maybe even paint in that color family. That will make the space more harmonious. 🙂
@heartsmyface Your beauty space is gorgeous!!! I found a few things you might be interested in.... the first two are from Pottery Barn. Maybe you could customize the colour when ordering.
Oh I really like the black chair!!!! The fur is really appealing but looks impossible to clean my inevitable messes. @blushnglow Thank you!
@heartsmyface Pops of teal/blue are my favorite! The stool is very cozy, but the rest of the decor is sleek and modern. Maybe try incorporating that color somewhere else in the room to tie the piece in. And you've done a great job with the space so far 😀
@RGbrown Art is a good idea. Some teal blue lips on a frame of something... Or I can just banish this to a guest room and try again. I'm not good at matching furniture.
@heartsmyface I love that stool!!!! I'd veer toward keeping it and raising the eye level by adding more pops of color round the room. That way the eye bounces all over the space. But this is just my thoughts and I enjoy randomization over complete uniformity.
Its a lovely stool! I think tying that color into a couple more things would make it right at home...perhaps some art on the walls, or maybe wall shelves with a few similarly-toned knickknacks on them?
Or another route if you decide you just don't like it...a modern white (or black) leather stool would look incredible, imho...sleek and shiny just like those drawers! ☺️
@Mcakes Yes! Mine is in part due to the heat and not being able to wear layers as preferred.
Ha, this is me a lot! I feel like I need a closet clean out and to get more classic pieces that go with everything. @Mcakes
Yes I am thinking the same @heartsmyface! I'm starting to understand why some people only wear black 😄
I think my biggest pet peeve right now is my eyelashes! Some grow upward, and some grow downward, so they look all crazy when I put on mascara. I also have a few on the outer corners of my eyes that have gone rogue.
Me too, @sih100. I think it's the female version of men's hairs growing out of their ears.
I have random lash growth too, it makes putting on mascara an adventure for sure! Currently I am being driven batty by the random tiny lashes that grow in the inside corner of my eyes. All my eyeliner gets trapped in them and makes it look like I have dark eye boogers all the time! My husband is constantly trying to fish stuff out of the inside corner of my eyes but he just smudges my makeup 😕
@unfungirl I have three eyelash hairs on my right eye that naturally point straight down. If they're particularly bothering me I'll apply a thin coat of mascara and then use a heated eyelash curler to set them where I want them. It takes about thirty seconds which in the moment seems like a long time but it's not. When the mascara dries in the set position they stay put.
@heartsmyface. Thanks for the tips! I will definitely try that. My eyelashes have always been sort of wonky, but ever since I started using Latisse they've gone nuts!
I remembered a pet peeve this morning. Basically, when you are applying makeup and a hair from your own head gets sort stuck across your face or eye or whatever and you can't seem to "find" it or brush it away without effort. I don't know why it's so annoying!
Or, when a hair gets stuck to the back of your shirt, and you can feel it brushing the back of your arm but can't find it and it keeps bugging you. The worst!
