Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

P.S. ElleElleG, if it makes you feel any better, myself and others have been able to cash in on the YSL buy-in with just $15 or $18 purchases versus the required $30 per the promotion fine print. Play with the items in your cart and see what may end up snagging you the YSL gift as free.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Thanks @lylysa I placed my order a couple hours ago & went ahead with a $35 order for the free shipping (it wouldn't come up otherwise).

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Ha, this made me think of the differences in strategy between Ulta and Sephora. I'm less than $100 from becoming Platinum at Ulta for the first time, and I get absolutely nothing from them except those $3.50 off non-Prestige coupons. I've never received a code for one of those deluxe samples that requires one.

Meanwhile, I've already re-Rouged this year, yet Sephora decides to give only Beauty Insider members 2x points during the sale.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Ahhh you're so close!  You'll be getting those Platinum perks any day now (if you hear/see platinum perks try adding them to your cart, sometimes they work anyway)!

Their strategies are definitely at opposite ends of the spectrum.  Ulta dishes out perks pretty regularly.  Sephora on the other hand requires $25-$35 buy ins for single GWPs and believes their 2 sales per year is sufficient to keep their customers happy 🙄.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

I started getting haircuts at the Ulta salon and will definitely hit Platinum this year! The problem is that I only cut my hair once every 2-3 months...

That's basically my strategy for getting discounts on makeup, especially now that Ulta carries Nars and MAC.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@txcatx I feel like Ulta gets more generous the more you spend. Right now I have like 3 5x points offers plus 2x for my bday month. Not saying you should go platinum but....

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

I believe you're on to something, I remember a few years back an Ulta employee was talking to a customer near me at check-out and said the more you shop and utilize your membership the more you get cycled into their system for promotions, coupons, and notifications. Almost as if the constant use keeps your name in the Ulta hat for when they pick and choose who gets what and when. If you don't shop as often and get the chance to "refresh" your membership use, you kind of ball to the bottom of the barrel in terms of getting the head's up for deals.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Your post had me cracking up at work...  I just told myself last night I had to slow down on my purchases too because I have been ordering left and right from Ulta... And then that email came this morning... AND I have 5x point on Stila right now.  So I bought all the liquid lippies I didn't already have =).

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

LOL, glad I could give you a laugh at work!

Wait, you have 5x points on Stila 🤔🤔 I wonder if I can call to request this be added to my order though I'm not sure they still do that, hmmmm.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Yes, I have 5x on Stila and Bare MInerals. I double checked and it was the deciding factor on my order. 😃

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@NinaR78 I called.  They said they way their system is set up only certain people get certain offers.  I received 5x on UD products recently and because of that they could not add the 5x Still to my account 😞

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@ElleElleG   I's sorry they wouldn't give you the offer.  I know I have missed out on some of the good 20% off offers too =(.  It's like the Ulta hunger games. May the odds ever be in your favor. Lol

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

I know... this is a good Ulta day. I plan on placing and order when I get the chance here in a couple of hours. I hope the GWP isn't sold out by the time I'm able to get around to it. I do need some things though, and I have a $15 gift card.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@alexasteph You have even more incentive, lol. Hopefully it's still around when you order, most people are likely maxed out from the recent 20% off 🙂

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@ElleElleG Never underestimate the endurance of someone with a shopping addiction... What's even better is I have a 5X bareMinerials too.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

@alexasteph that's true!!  If I caved I can only guess others did too!

Very nice on the 5x the points, another BTer above mentioned having similar offers, on the phone now to see if they can apply it to my order from earlier (fingers crossed).

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Same! Plus it's my birthday month so I have 2x points. I thought, well, I am out of my Tony Moly banana hand lotion...and went from there. 🙂

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

See!  At least you needed something, lol.  Having 2x the points for an entire month is dangerous on its own!

 Happy (early) Birthday @JenniferOhJenny!!!

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Thanks @ElleElleG

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

This is a peeve.. and I'm really depressed/sad about it too.. :'(

I had a migraine earlier today which involved some *being sick* and now my face is covered in burst blood vessel dots all around my eyelids, undereyes, mouth and scattered around the rest of my face. Enough that I look like someone tried to strangle me.

Bad enough being sick, but *insert swearing* what the *insert more swearing*

Now I gotta conceal like a MOFO until this *insert swearing* clears up.

Thanks life. You rock.

Re: Beauty Pet Peeves 2

Oh man I'm so sorry to hear that @Insomniacmuffin!  I have the same issue with migraines and also get sick when my allergies get really bad, and I get the same issue with burst blood vessels all over my face. It's so frustrating and makes me so self conscious. As if suffering from migraines and getting sick isn't bad enough!

The worst part for me is that over time some of the spots on my cheeks have remained.  It's nowhere near as bad as it is when I get sick, but without foundation, up close you can see all these tiny red spots on my cheeks.  I even have to be careful about wearing pink based highlighters because they bring out the red spots.  I'm tempted to get them treated with a laser since they bother me so much, but I've had a really hard time finding info on how effective it would be and what treatment would be best. I thought I was some kind of weirdo with insanely delicate blood vessels and well, maybe I am but hey at least there's two of us!
