Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

Thank you for taking the time to update this list, Mia! Smiley Happy

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

This list is filled with inaccuracies.

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

Other sources say that Boscia, Caudaile, Juicy Couture, and L'Occitane  are NOT cruelty-free.

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

Yay for Ren! Love them.

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

Thanks for this! I'm making an effort to use only cruelty free products, I just wish I could find a concealer/foundation that worked as well as MAC's.

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

Can we get this list to reflect who sells in china please? otherwise this list doesn't really work since the Chinese government requires government run animal testing in order to sell in china.

it might not seem like an issue but these companies know this before choosing to sell in that market. so, if they claim they are cruelty free and they are working hard to put an end to animal testing and yet still decide to sell in china...to me it really shows their integrity and true stance on the matter. I know i'm not alone in this.

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

I agree with Katty2323. I had to give up a lot of brands this year when I found out they had started to sell in China.

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

Can you recommend a link or site that lists Sephora brands sold in China?

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

Google Big name Beauty Brands sell in China Daily Mail and an article listing companies who sell in China will come up. The companies they list that sell in Sephora are L'Occitane, Clnique, Lancome, Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, and Estee lauder. Sephora brand also sells in China.

Sephora brand, Bobbi Brown and others also sell in China.

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

Sephora sells in China with 147 stores and a Flagship Store in Shanghai.  Smiley Sad

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

So the stores in China...do they not carry certain brands, like Urban Decay? I'm not really sure how the Chinese policy works.

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

I had to give up MAC when they started selling in China, that killed me, especially because the created of MAC would be rolling in his grave.

Highlighted

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

Yes, I gave up Mac, too.  Don't know why the creator of Mac was.  Bobbi Brown sells in China now, too.  Jane Iredale & Miessence are great more natural makeup brands that do not test.

It doesn't matter to me if a company states that they are looking for alternatively test.  The fact of the matter is that they DO test, and you know a company by their actions, and these greedy, amoral companies will do anything to make more money.

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

Please consider using another resource other than PETA!!! I'm a vegan and an adoptive mom of two lovely four-legged rescue pups, and have fostered and raised many rescues in the past. PETA are verifiably responsible for killing over 90% of adoptable animals in their care at their Virginia shelter and this is their standard practice at all their shelters.  Yes, adoptable companion animals.  PETA are a proponent of kill shelters, and believe that certain breeds (eg, pits) should be completely eradicated.

There are other resources, like Leaping Bunny.

Sorry to be all soap-boxy, but this issue really bothers me.

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

No offense, however your information regarding PETA and no kill shelters are not quite accurate.

No kill shelters sounds good and looks good on paper.  But the reality is it leads to over crowding, less vet care, confined to cages,etc... It is much better to place an animal to sleep, then to have him/her live out their life in sometimes worse conditions then they were originally in.  These shelters require an admission fee when an animal is brought to the shelter, turning away strays and giving away animals free without proper screening.

Private No Kill shelters depend on donations to house, feed and care for these animals,...do you see the problem?

*and it's never the dog,....it's the owner*    Smiley Sad    <3

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

No Kill absolutely can work and does work in some parts of the country already.  Please look up Best Friends Animal Society and how they are working towards both no-kill AND no more homeless pets.  They are a MUCH better, more honest, NON-ANIMAL-KILLING organization than PETA, who, really, are just horrific.

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

As far as I have heard, PETA doesn't make much, if any attempt to adopt animals out before killing them, do they?

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

I love that there are so many fellow animal lovers/rescuers in the BT community! Warms my heart <3

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

Yes, me too!  I was just thinking that!!  Smiley Happy

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

I've heard Best Friends is amazing.  My friend volunteered there.  I am definitely re-evaluting Peta. They sound completely scary.

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

There are certain parts of the country that have no kill shelters that actually have excess space and have to import animals from Puerto Rico to keep potential adopters coming in the doors.

Ironic that this is brought up, because after I finish grad school, I plan on creating a non-profit that will transport animals from over-crowded shelters across the U.S. to the no-kill shelters that need to import animals from other areas. c:

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

Good luck with your Non-profit! I have been involved in many such transport journeys- My friend worked at a no-kill shelter in New York State and we would drive pups up from high-kill shelters in North Carolina! She's with the HSUS now so my transporting is currently on hold, but it was amazing.  We saved over 40 dogs from death row (Including my girl Glory, my avatar, and her ELEVEN puppies Smiley Happy

Re: Animal Testing, Gluten & Vegan Info

AWE! What a sweetheart! She actually looks a lot like my dog, Toby, that I adopted and brought up from a high-kill shelter in Alabama. Here's a picture!
