Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

Hello Marcia,

it's Stanka (CollStanka on facebook) it's great to interact with you live! My only skin concern are large pores on my cheeks. As a faithful S&G girl I use everything you currently offer. While all the products wonderfully cleared up my skin - it used to be oily, now it's normal thanks to you - my pores are still visible. Do you have/use/recommend any method or product to hide them so I don't have to sweat over it so much?

Thank you very much, have a great day

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

Stanka you gorgeous girl! I should have known you'd be first in line  for this chat, and how fabulous to have you with us today! (For those of you watching, Stanka was the very first girl to be initiated into the Soap & Glory Hall of Foam. She knows the ingredient lists of our products like the back of her hand, and can list every Soap & Glory product alphabetically, by launch date, and by ml size (just kidding, SORT OF!)

First, remember that pores can't actually shrink once they're a certain size, unless you undergo something drastic (like microdermabrasion) which isn't necessary and can cause real overall textural change to your skin. What you can do to make pores LOOK smaller is your basic smoke and mirrors. Get a great mattifying primer, a great mattifying (lightweight) powder, and use less foundation, rather than more.

And of course, most importantly, you want to keep in mind that while beauty absolutely matters, it doesn't matter absolutely!

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

I have a question about the Sit Tight serum - What are some tips to make it work most effectively?

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

Hey BeeBee, Thanks for joining us. Listen, when it comes to fighting fat, there's no such thing as a free lunch, or a free french fry. I'd suggest that you prep your skin before applying SIT TIGHT XS by giving it a good scrub, to rid it of dead skin cells. The less keratinized the top layer of your skin is, the faster the actives in SIT TIGHT XS will absorb. You can use any scrub that you've got at home, or something like THE SCRUB OF YOUR LIFE in the shower. When applying SIT TIGHT XS, roll gently from the back of your knees around your legs to your inner thighs. That's where your lymphatic glands lie, and the action will help move puffiness causing fluid. You also might want to try applying it before a workout, because any additional blood flow helps active ingredients sink in quicker. (I could go on and on, but I've got other questions to answer!) Thanks for tuning in!

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

i would love to think we can buy a fat burner in a bottle, but how much do you think a cream can do in terms of getting rid of puffy skin?

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

First, let's be clear. SKIN itself is not puffy. It's the underlayer that collects fluid that causes whatever problem area you're obsessing about to LOOK puffy. (On that note, it would be interesting to find out if P DIDDY ever gets PUFFY.) I believe that that most skin firming creams/gels/ 'anti-puffiness' formulas work on two levels, both of which are equally important. First, the diuretics in certain formulas work to help reduce excess fluid buildup in the tissues so you see results quickly, and secondly, they work on your mental discipline! Listen, if you're gonna spend 38 bucks on a bottle of firming fluid - and all those in agreement put your hands in the air- you're certainly going to think twice before scoffing down a six-pack Krispy Kremes. OK, all those in favour, say YAYE! Hands back down, girls. We've got a web chat to attack.

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

Hi Marcia,

With summer coming up I've begun to start to get back into my exercise routine and actually just purchased your new sit tight but wanted to ask how many times a day I should use to really see results and is it safe to use on my tummy area?

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

Hi there, I got a Soap & Glory Righteous body butter sample recently and I love using it on my feet.  It's flip flop season after all!  Smiley Happy  What other products/daily maintenance do you recommend for soft, smooth feet during the summer?  Thank you!

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

Hey CKY9 (that's like a Star Wars name! I love it!)

I can highly recommend our 'made for flip flops' formula: HEEL GENIUS. It's got fruit acids that smooth the dead cells from your heels, around your nail beds, and keep a pedicure looking perfect long after its due date. (While our RIGHTEOUS BUTTER is brilliant, it's actually not formulated to be used on feet, so might be a tad slippy, when what you want is exfoliating and grippy!)

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

What does the XS on SIT TIGHT STAND FOR? And are there other SIT TIGHT formulas that I can try?

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

XS was added to the formulation name because this is an EXTRA-STRENGTH version of our original product, which only launched in England. By the time we were ready to ship to the USA, we had already developed a stronger formula, and so we added XS to the name. (Hilariously, I've heard some women refer to it as EXTRA SMALL, although it's quite a big tube. Could be hopeful Freudian slip!)

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

Hi there! I have a question about oily skin in the summer. I have fair/really oily skin, and I was wondering if you have any daily beauty tips to keep it looking good in the summer? I don't really like wearing a lot of makeup because it slides off after a couple of hours, but I do wear spf. Thanks! Smiley Happy

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

Hi-Be sure to switch to an oil-free moisturizer in the summer and try the Clarifying Colloidal Sulfur Mask which absorbs excess oil and is time absorbent. it also will minimize pores and blackheads.

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

Hi Marcia and Dr. Gross,

What are the ideal products to use for a night and morning routine? How can I ensure my skin is clear, bright and naturally (as much as possible) glowing? Oh, anti aging as well! I apologize for what seems like an extremely loaded question, but I'm a gal that wants it all in the skin department.

Thank you,

Maritza

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

Hi Maritza,

You can definitely get everything you want when it comes to your skincare routine. Our Alpha Beta® Peels exfoliate and infuse the skin with potent anti-aging ingredients, revealing radiant, smooth, skin with less visible pores and wrinkles. Glow Pad takes these benefits to the next level by adding microencapsulated DHA for a sunkissed glow.

At night, you can try layering Ferulic Acid + Retinol Brightening Solution under Hydra-Pure™ Vitamin C Brightening Serum. When you combine these antioxidant powerhouses, your skin will instantly appear firmer, smoother, and brighter.

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

Maritza-another note for you. Look for products that contain Farnesol – it's a natural alternative to Benzoyl Peroxide. Benzoyl Peroxide kills bacteria – but it can kill healthy skin too resulting in acne scars. Farnesol is gentler but still effective. You can find it in most of our acne products, including our Clarifying Colloidal Mask, All in One Blemish Solution, Correct and Perfect, and Trifix Oil Free Moisture.

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

Hello all! I have seborrheic dermatitis on my face and I am wondering what the best facial wash and moisturizer to use is.

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

Tonygirl, that sounds tough! I've always found that moisture is a flaky-skinned girl's best friend. That said, your best cleanser is going to be something milky or creamy (even OILY!). Something that helps break down makeup, but doesn't remove too much water from your skins natural barrier. You need ingredients that help bolster the barrier and prevent trans-epidermal water loss, and those are things like ceramides, fatty acids, sphingolipids and cholesterol  (not the kind you eat). Look for products that say 'barrier repairing' or 'reduces trans-epidermal water loss' first.  We have a fantastic product called THE FAB PORE CLEANSER that's only available on Sephora.com that could be perfect for you. Here's a picture!

Thank you, I will try it!

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

How can I get my dry, rough feet prepped for Summer?

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

Hello Francophile! (Did you know that when John F Kennedy went to Paris with Jackie, she was such a hit, because she was such a Francophile, and everybody absolutely LOVED her, and when he got up to make his first public speech, he said something like "Some of you may not know who I am, so I want to introduce myself. I'm the guy who gets to accompany Jacqueline Kennedy to France, and am I having a great time!"

Now over to feet:  Believe it or not, feet exfoliate best when they are DRY. That means for the very best buffing (you’ll need a foot buffer, of course, sandpaper can be a bit scratchy) you should avoid foot creams- and even socks if possible- for at least 24 hours before you buff. (If that’s too much to ask, buff first thing in the morning, after having slept sockless all night, before you get into the shower.) Do a once over on dry heels and toes, and then after showering, another once over using a layer of good, thick, skin-enriching cream (like Soap & Glory’s Heel Genius). Rinse it all off, follow again with foot cream, and slip on WOOL socks. When you take them off, it may be the first time you’ve ever looked at your own feet and liked them.

Good luck!

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

what do you do personally to stay fit and prevent flab?

Re: Today! Live Summer Skin Q&A with Soap & Glory & Dr. Gross!

Hey LauFenn. I work a LOT, so to reduce my stress levels, I'm a bit of an extreme exerciser. So a couple of times a week I throw my bike into the car, drop my kids at school, and go for a killer 90 minute bike ride before showering and sitting down at my desk. I'm also really big into hot yoga (or bikram, or ashtanga) because I believe you hold all your bad memories/fears/limitations in the muscles of your body, and if you want to live the fullest life possible and experience a lot of happiness, you've got to stretch yourself both mentally and physically.  I'll try to hit a yoga class at least a couple of times a week as well. I see an acupuncturist for a tune-up every couple of months (she helps with my jet lag) and I avoid cheese as if it were the plague. On the surface, every morning (and sometimes also in the evening) I roll on SIT TIGHT XS (knees, inner thighs, thighs, and bum!) and I cover any non-susceptible bits with a thick coating of the RIGHTEOUS BUTTER.
