I want a glow to my skin....

I want a glow to my skin...sheen I need a highlighter or something else? If so, how do I apply it?  What products will make my skin have that nice, sheen glow?  Thanks!

Re: I want a glow to my skin....

You can try using an illuminating primer under your foundation. Then add a highlighter on top after. Or you could use either one by itself. It really depends on how much glow you want.

The Becca Backlight Primer can be used as a primer or mixed with foundation.

The Josie Maran Illuminzer can be used alone, mixed with foundation (that is what I currently do) or used as a primer.

The Laura Mercier Matte Radiance in 01 is a beautiful highlight and works with all different makeup looks. Becca highlighters are always winners too for a beautiful glow and there are many different ones to choose from. If you want subtle radiance, the Hourglass Ambient Powders are great because you can use them to set concealer, use all over or just use as a highlighter.

Thank you so much ...too many choices cannot decide:-)

Re: I want a glow to my skin....

@lilshopper1 I know it is a bit overwhelming. I personally would recommend the Josie Maran (the one I have been using for months now mixed with my foundation) and then a highlighter (Laura Mercier or Becca).

Great!  Do you how light on your nose, chin, center of your forehead etc?

Re: I want a glow to my skin....

I use a setting brush from Real Techniques and dust the powder over my cheekbones, down my nose, my cupid's bow and my chin. I personally don't do my forehead but some people do. I sometimes also do my inner tear duct of my eyes with the highlighter but I am usually using an eyeshadow to do that already.

Re: I want a glow to my skin....

For that sheen glow you are referring to, my two favorite products are Mac Strobe Cream and Becca pressed highlighter in Opal (Champagne Pop is a good one too but it emphasizes all the imperfections on the skin). The other highlighters I tried are all too glittery for my liking. I love love love that Mac cream, you can use a tiny amount on the high points of your face to give you a nice highlighted effect.

It's usually applied on the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, cupid's bow, chin, center of the forehead and between brows, inner corner of the eyes and brow bone. You just have to keep in mind that you are accentuating every part of your face that you are highlighting so if you have an imperfection or pimple on your forehead I wouldn't necessarily apply the highlighter there.

It's very natural looking and you don't have to be wearing makeup. Sometimes, I just mix it with my moisturizer for a fresher look. You can also mix it with your foundation to make it more dewy or you can wear it by itself under your foundation. I even use it on my collar bones, shoulders and decollete during summer and it gives the most gorgeous glow. The deluxe size is $10 for 1 oz and the full size is $33 for 1.7 oz so the small size is a much better deal. I hope this helped!

Hi lilshopper1,

I love the Becca Backlight Priming Filter. You can use it under foundation or alone, in the t-zone, or all over the face. I know some had added a drop to their foundation as well. I hope this helps!

Best Wishes,

Re: I want a glow to my skin....

I am a big fan of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder. Luminous Light is my fav but there are lots of choices. It can be used as a spot highlight where you want it or all over the face.

If you are wanting something with a creamier base I like Benefit Watts Up! I think it is super under-rated and I love putting this under my powder foundation. I find it works easiest if I blend with my fingers, and work very fast since it dries quickly.
