Unscented moisturizer

What is your favorite unscented moisturizer for the face for dry skin over 40 that I can also use around my eyes?

Re: Unscented moisturizer

@SK112  I’m in my 50s with mostly-dry combo skin that’s quite reactive/inflammation-prone. I use various moisturizers on my face (including around my eyes), depending on what my skin needs that day. I always apply moisturizer while my skin’s damp to help seal in hydration instead of dryness.

  • CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion - my usual for PM and non-winter AM.
  • Vanicream Daily Facial Moisturizer - sometimes I use this on chilly mornings, or when my skin’s having an angry flaky reaction. It contains squalane, so it feels richer and more emollient than CeraVe’s lotion.
  • Vanicream Moisturizing Lotion - a very simple formula I reach for when my skin’s in full blown tantrum mode. This lotion doesn’t further irritate my face.
  • Vanicream Moisturizing Cream - the thicker cream version of the above lotion. I use this in the same scenario during winter.
  • CeraVe Moisturizing Cream - in cold weather, I switch from CeraVe’s lotion to this cream for daytime. Unlike the lotion, this cream contains petrolatum for maximum moisturization.
  • Aveeno Skin Relief Lotion - the colloidal oats in this lotion are great for soothing my facial skin when it’s red and stinging. (I also often use this on my body.) Sometimes I use Aveeno Eczema Therapy Cream instead.

If I need extra moisturization around my eyes, or anywhere else on my face, I apply a petrolatum balm—usually Aquaphor Ointment, but sometimes CeraVe Ointment. (Plain ol’ Vaseline would also work, but I don’t like the texture.)

If you reeeally want something Sephora carries, well… despite my feelings about this brand, I gotta say Drunk Elephant Lala Retro™ Nourishing Whipped Refillable Moisturizer is a very good product for dry skin. 😅 I stopped using it long ago, but I’ll still recommend it.

@SK112 , a really great one you can buy at Sephora is First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydra-Firm Night Cream 1.7 oz/ 50 mL . Another really good one that is available at the drugstore is Vanicream.
