Need help finding a foundation

I’m in my late 30’s and I have combo skin and large pores. Looking for a foundation to even out my skin tone and help cover imperfections without being too heavy and settling into fine lines.

Re: Need help finding a foundation

@VernaW First make sure you have a good skincare routine.

Then you could try a pore filling primer (such as Tatcha The Silk Canvas Protective Primer 0.7 oz/ 20 g, TOUCH IN SOL - No Poreblem Primer, Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Pore Minimizing Primer .75 / 21g, Dr. Brandt Skincare pores no more® pore refiner primer 1 oz) on your t zone and then a tinted moisturizer or cc cream all over.

Need help finding a foundation

This is really hard because foundation is so personal and there are millions. It also depends on what your budget is and how many layers of products you want to use. I had combo/oily skin and large pores at your age, and I wore Clinique Even Better Foundation forever. It's not full coverage, it's very lightweight and comfortable, it actually did make my skin look better, and it's very affordable compared to a lot of what's on here. It has a bit of SPF which is better than none , as I was not wearing sunscreen otherwise. Now I'm 46 and there are primers and setting sprays and pre-primer serums and setting powders and lighting powders and pre-primer filters ffs so everything has gotten WAY complicated. The Foundation Finder tool is actually pretty helpful, though you'll notice that Sephora only ever lists the same few brands though they carry tons, but it helps to narrow things down. Almost everyone seems to love Armani Luminous Silk which I guess they should since it costs $64. The only reason I actually changed from the Clinique Even Better was because my skin got more pale and I couldn't quite match it. I got Too Faced Born This Way because it was very popular, and while I loved it for the first week, I soon noticed that my skin was drying out and the makeup was settling into lines I didn't used to have plus it's water-based, so you can't wear anything silicone-based under it or it pills. Which meant I had to find a new sunscreen and buy the stupid Too Faced Hangover Primer because nothing else kept it from drying me out. Not kidding, it was the most expensive $39 I ever spent. I finally gave up and now buy whatever is on close-out. I've found a couple really good ones that are no longer for sale, so I won't tell you about them. But Lancome Teint Idole is great, so is MUFE's HD foundation. People seem very excited about Charlotte Tillbury, but they seem to have a four or five step routine just for foundation. If you want something to last you until stores open up again and you can test dozens of products, Clinique has a low price for a very good product. Their Perfecting Concealer whatever is also popular and seems pretty versatile. Good luck, and beware of water-based foundations!!!
