Antiaging Product Regimen Advice for My Mom

It's always been clear that I don't get my passion for makeup and skin care from my mom. She has never really worn makeup, and her usual skin care regimen consists of a bar of Dove Soap, and the sporadic use of random drug store moisturizers. So, for New Years, I bought her the Murad Evening Renewal Regimen and the Clinique Repairwear Intensive Eye Cream. She's planning on starting this regimen tonight as her New Years beauty resolution. She will be 56 years old in February, and since she has never really taken care of her skin, she is in need of a pretty intensive skin regimen. Would you lovely Beauty Insiders please suggest a Retinol treatment that isn't be super-harsh or intense (or totally bank-breaking!), and any other anti-aging products that work for you? I also plan to get her a nice foundation and concealer for her birthday in February, so if you have any suggestions for products of that kind that would work for dry, mature skin, I'd appreciate it. Thanks everyone, and have a happy New Year!

I would recommend proven ingredients.

1. A retinoid product. (night time) with moisterizer

2. Peptide product. (daytime)

3. Antioxidant product (daytime)

4. spf (daytime)

Type in the operative words into the search box to find various products to choose from.

My fav antioxidant is Philosophy's C Booster. It is impressive to come in a dark container and is air tight to preserve the fragile Vit C, which is a collagen booster, lightens, and an antioxidant sheild.

In the past year or two I have been working with my mother to get her on a good skincare regimen, too.  I think it's great that you care about your mom the way I care about mine.

Peter Thomas Roth has a great retinol product called Retinol Fusion PM which is a potent retinol serum that delivers skin-renewing benefits via concentrated encapsulated retinol for maximum results with minimal irritation.  It should be applied at bedtime and you can find it at:
http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P251529&categoryId=B70

Peter Thomas Roth has a daytime retinol product that contains a sunscreen with an SPF 30 that can be worn underneath her makeup to give her the anti-aging benefits of retinol plus sun protection.  Sun protection is so important.  The product is called Retinol Fusion AM Moisturizer SPF 30 and you can find it at:  http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P266132&categoryId=B70

I know these products can really add up and get expensive, so if you have to choose between the AM and PM formulas I would suggest getting the PM formula because while we sleep is when our skin rejuvenates the most.

A great anti-aging foundation is Peter Thomas Roth "Un-Wrinkle Foundation SPF 20" which has great buildable, natural-looking coverage.  Light diffusers instantly diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while a patent-pending complex provides antiaging benefits. Collagen-boosting action creates firmer, younger looking skin, too.  You can find it at:

I hope this helps you. Smiley Happy

I must admit that I searched high and low, and spent a lot of money to find an anti-aging routine for my face.  With the help of a wonderful and patient sales associate Emily in Austin, TX , there is now light at the end of this girls aging tunnel.

Before using the routine below my norm/combo skin appeared dehydrated and was uneven especially around the eye area;  I had circles and puffiness under my eyes, and fine laugh lines. My skin was just plain dull looking skin. Now my skin is glowing and the fine lines are less noticeable. The icing on the cake.... the bags and puffiness under my eyes are gone.

My rountine/ recommendation may not be cheap however the results are amazing!!!   Best of luck to you....

Daytime:

Wild Rose Serum - Korres  (If you skin is dry mix it with Ren's Night Serum)
Wrinkle Revenge - Dermadoctor ( mild retionol )

Cru - Claudlie - Amazing product, a little goes a long way -  Miracle worker!!

Eye and Lip Treatment  - Claudlie Vinexpert - More than a miracle worker!!!

Face Firming Treatment - Claudlie Vinexpert

NIghtime:

Exfolicate - Kate Summerville  ( I use this product 3-4  times a week however some may find it too harsh for there skin so you would recommend that you  use it as labled)

Night Serum - Ren
Night Wrinkle Cream (Retinol) - ROC

Cru - Claudlie Vinexpert

Eye and Lip Treatment - Claudlie Vinexpert

Foundation:

No Foundation - Perricone - A must buy - This product is unbelievable!  It evens your skin out without the looking like you are wearing makeup. I mix it with a very small amount of Stila's all in one foundation however on weekends I use it alone.

I second the Philosophy's Miracle worker, but for foundation, since she doesn't wear it, I would suggest a tinted moisturizer, like Laura Mercier.

The Philosophy Miracle Worker kit is a very nice retinoid product set that works for me. It contains a jar of pads and bottle of solution that you pour over the pads, a anti-aging concentrate and moisturizer.  It is a bit pricey, but is cheaper than buying the products separately. The pads last 2 months and some other posts to Beauty Talk have mentioned cutting the pads in half to get longer use from the jar. The concentrate and moisturizer last a long time because you only use a little bit at a time. This kit has really worked on my fine lines and wrinkles, making them less obvious. I tried the Olay Retinoid kits that you can get at the drugstore, but found they didn't work as well for me as the Philosophy kit.

Hope this helps!
