It’s such a struggle. Hormonal acne is the worst isn’t it. Thanks for your recommendations. I might have to test a few of them out!! I did end up trying the farmacy honey potion, honey grail, and honey drop, something about these products is incredible for my skin so I highly recommended all 3 of those plus the honeymoon glow if you ever consider adding in new products or switching things up

ABOUT MY SKIN: Ok, to begin, I have lived with genetic and hormonal cystic acne since Jr. high (7th grade till now, 22 years of age).Inflammation, itchiness, pulsing heat, pain and frustrating makeup cover ups is something I've gotten used to. So most of my research tofight this struggle is to deal with the superficial issues first because theyare the most annoying. DISCLAIMER: Right now I'm not takingany tropical or oral medication that is targeted to deal with any formof acne (besides for my cholesterol control). And these extra step in myskincare are recent and have shown the most improvement within amonth(to be exact, in one week for me). However, I cannot vouch thatthey are a solution for everyone or to rid acne. But since it has worked for me, I will share. STORY TIME: I was strolling through YouTube and ended upin one video where they talked about mom remedies for skincare. The host explained that her mom mixed half of apple cider vinegar and half water to help lighten up her face, but it took her 3 months to achieve it. I started to do this because I've read that there arebenefits for natural antiseptics (which is the apple cider), so why not. Then while doing research for apple cider vinegar, I became intrigued with Witch Hazel. From my understanding, Witch Hazel, also serves a similar purpose as apple cider with the addition of anti inflammatory components. I came across a honey mask that utilizes WitchHazel and decided to use this method. When I went to get the ingredients for the apple cider and honey, I couldn't find the exact ingredientsused (I was in an unfamiliar store, didn't know my way around). I wanted a small bottle of apple cider vinegar, but they only had the drinkableshots with turmeric and honey. I remember that my mom said that turmeric is great to calm down the skin and honey is moisturizing, so I grabbed this one instead. As for the honey, I was going circles trying to look for it, but kept finding blue agave. I knew that blue agave was also anti inflammatory because we used it to reduce itchiness on closingwounds. I chucked it into my cart as a substitute if I couldn't find thehoney. Then dummy me was finally able to see that the honey was right in front of my face (one of those moments). So now I have not the ideal ingredients, besides the honey, but they all had a little extra goodness, so I didn't mind and used all of them. INGREDIENTS: I used these because they were available to me, you may find other or evenbetter brands... Apple Cider Vinegar toner like mixture: (I keep mine in a cosmetic travel bottle, keep itcool) • half of Apple Cider Vinegar - mine has with turmeric and honey - I used Vermont Village • half of water -so it won't be too acidic Witch Hazel mask: (I guess you can store it in anything, keep it cool) • 2 teaspoons of Blue Agave - I don't think itsnecessary, I just used it to not let it go to waste - I used madhava • 2 teaspoons of Honey - necessary to moisterize as witch hazel isdrying and it gives that stickon consitency - I used Miller'shoney • 1 teaspoon of Witch Hazel - with NO alcohol, alcohol is horrible as a skincare ingredient - I used Humphreys Cucumber Melon HOW TO: If interested, you can try out both or just one, either way both haveshownnice results for different issues. - Apple Cider Vinegar toner mix: This one has reduced some redness, but not all (I'm still in the first month). However, when I use it, it rids of dead skin and dirt without needing abrasion or physical exfoliation. I don't think it rids of all the skin that exfoliators do, just the surface, as if you were rubbing them off, which you are tecnically. In the morning: I wake up with a very oily face, Iwash it off only with water. Then I used the mixture by pouring a puddle onmy hand and, in circular motions, I massage it onmy face. On the video, she said that her mom did it for 5 minutes total, each time adding more whenever it dries. I didn't do exactly that, but it's not that much different. I place 5 layers. Each time a layer dries, I addthe other. When I'm done, I wash it off with water. DON'T keep it on, you dont want the barrier of your skin to be damaged. After that, I go onwith the rest of my skincare routine. Makesure to moisterize. At night: I haven't seen anything bad happen if I do it again at night, so do it once or twice, whichever you prefer. Wash off your makeup, with soap to not have residue. And apply as you have done. - Witch Hazel Honey mask: This one has greatly reduced my inflammation. I wasn't expectingresults as natural ingredients tend tonot show much. I only use it once a day(morning or night) because it can be quite drying, and always moisterize afterwards. On the first fourdays, I skipped a day then did it routinely, but if it feels too drying, reduce the amount of days. It is about comfort. I apply the mix with a brush, it is the cleanest and easiest way. And like any typical mask, I give it 20 minutes, any more and my skin feels like a desert. Then wash it off with water. Normally all of the mask comes off, but if its uncomfortable without the use of soap then go ahead and use it, there's actually no concrete rules inhow to do this. CONCLUSION: I wish I took photos of my \"before\" so I can show how angry it was. But photos wouldn't explain the sensation since it is deep within the skin. All I have left to dealwith is my scars, which are hyperpigmentated. I do get acne, but they dry off quickly, and the cystic ones reduce in sizeandredness. Overall, I say that it is only for inflammation because thatis what it has helpedme with. The inflammation, itchiness, pulsing heat, painful mounds on my face have become better. It doesn't hurt when I touch my face or smile, theitchiness and size has calmed down and theredness has reduced. This has helped lighten the problems of cystic acne, but has not riddenof it permanently. It is only a superficial solution. And if it worksfor others that is great, but don't stop in searching how to delete this problem. (I tried to type it in a more organized way with paragraphs and indents, but the app keeps posting it all clustered. I don't know how you're seeing it, but hopefully its legible)

I have the same problem !!! I’ve been dealing with this horrific skin of mine ever since I stopped taking my birth control. Not sure if you tried to pop them but DONT. They will always come back and it will only leave you with scarring. You would have to be in the sun a lot for heat rash and since your not I’m thinking it’s not that. Mine is some sort of dermatitis , I’m very oily as well. It’s some sort of hormonal/ fungal acne. I got my doc to prescribe ketoconozole shampoo because I was having dandruff problems for the first time ever with a very oily scalp. Also, I did find out that acne systems won’t do anything, except salicylic acid. Believe it or not I was my face with Nizoral, it’s a shampoo you can buy at any Walgreens, etc. I just ordered a lot of The Ordinary. Did ALOT of research on my skin and it seems that line of skincare is perfect for what I have and think you might. It may not be as serious as my skin problems are but hopefully this post helps and can lead you in the right direction to clearing up your skin cause I know it’s like the worst thing to ever have to deal with. Good Luck!!!

Hi there! I have a lot of acne scarring, and I have tried so many different full-coverage foundations. My favorite by far is the Nars All Day Luminous Weightless foundation applied using a damp beauty blender. It offers great coverage, even on active acne, without looking cakey or drawing attention to what I’m trying to cover up. Unlike other matte full coverage foundations, it also doesn’t dry before I’ve had a chance to blend it, and it doesn’t oxidize and leave me looking patchy once it does dry. I work 12 hour shifts at a hospital, and as long as I don’t touch or rub my face, it lasts through work and any errands I have to run afterwards. If I need more coverage, I’ll grab a small brush and use it as concealer. Hope this helps!

Try a gel exfoliator. Peter Thomas Roth and Boscia have wonderful exfoliating abilities. They have an enzyme that breaks down dead skin and you can actually see the dead skin rubbing off. Ask for a sample of each to see which one you like better. My skin always feels so muchcleaner afterwards. I also use instamud after to help pull anything else thats still trapped in my pores. Also make sure to put on a light moisturizer. I love the Murad water gel. Only one that I could have a lot on without becoming oily at all. And my cheeks get super oily when I put anything on.

@SamCullen I have two suggestions that don't dry out the skin. One is masque vivant by biologique recherge (it works better if you use an acid toner before), but it smells nasty - like vegemite. I wouldn't use that one to sleep. The second one is SUNDAY RILEY - Saturn Sulfur Acne Treatment Mask. It doesn't smell fantastic, but it's easy to ignore the scent. I do, on occasion, use this before bed.

Yeah, it does that at first. It can get super gnarly for the first month or so, but after that it will even out a bit. Still, Accutane has some weird effects on skin. Because it causes your skin to produce less oil, there's no oily layer to stop your skin from losing water, and that's what causes the dryness. Unfortunately, most moisturizers only add oil and glycerin, which helps if you're missing oil, but does nothing to replace the water. There are a handful of water-replenishing moisturizers. My favorite is Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench. It helps a lot. But it really seems to help more if I add an oil over the top. Plain almond oil works pretty well for this, and is cheap, if sometimes a bit tricky to find.

Hello, fellow Accutane user! Not sure about a sunscreen (I've given up, tbh), but I've had a great experience with Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench for a moisturizer. It adds water and hyaluronic acid instead of oil and glycerin, plus it's unscented. Although it does seem to help to add an oil on top. Plain almond oil actually works pretty well, but I got a sample of Herbivore Emerald, and that's nice. I actually really recommend almond oil for lips. You know how your lips can get on Accutane. Chapstick just doesn't cut it, but a good overnight application of almond oil will.

@julia1610 Have you seen a dermatologist, to determine if it's true acne? Prescriptions have a better punch vs otc and more ingredient options. Higher end doesn't mean works better. Try to figure out your skin's triggers. Sure cleanser, moisturizer, spf are the basics of a good routine, but you need a treatment step. For me, otc redness relievers don't do much.  THE ORDINARY - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% May help, but I use (different brand) after rx retinol is completely dry.

My skin responses better to over-hydrate route than the over-exfoliate-and-medicate route. IAvoid facial scrubs, facial brush, chemical peels, and most toners. Figuring out which products (salicylic acid vs. benzoyl peroxide vs glycolic acid vs. etc.) are best for you is always a personal trial and error process, but these three products definitely worked for me:  REN ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser, Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask, and Peace Out Acne Dots.

Hi Lolli! There are TONS of options available! Some things to think about:1. What kind of product do you want - liquid, cream, etc. 2. How much coverage do you want?3. Are you specific about cruelty free?4. What price point are you looking at? I have dry skin which is sensitive as well, and prefer a more dewy look lately, but used to really love a satin/natural finish.  Some that I really enjoyed/still like:TOO FACED - Born This Way FoundationThis one is fuller coverage with a natural finish, cruelty free, I'd say mid pricedMILK MAKEUP - Sunshine Skin Tint SPF 30Light coverage with dewy finish, cruelty free, mid priced  There's a great new one by NYX, called Bare With Me I think. It's light coverage, dewy, cruelty free and inexpensive.  I'm playing with NARS - Sheer Glow Foundationand so far it's been beautiful. This one is light to medium coverage, dewy/satin finish, not cruelty free, pricier.  Check out the foundation finder on Sephora.com as well! It will help you narrow down foundations by finish and formulation.  Lastly, don't be afraid to ask for samples! SA's are usually more than happy to make you a few samples to take home and try.  Good luck and have fun!
