Skincare for acne

heyyy i was wondering if i can get any recommendations on and good skincare to help acne but in a lower price range

Re: Skincare for acne

Always use an oil cleanser. It will help collect all the oil, and then use your regular cleanser. Drugstore brands like Cetaphil, CeraVe, Neutrogena are all good affordable options. The Ordinary has some good stuff too

Re: Skincare for acne

I've struggled with acne on my face, chest, and back since high school, and through this journey, I’ve learned it’s never just one solution. Finding the right products that suit your skin type is important, but it's equally crucial to pay attention to hygiene, hormonal changes, and diet (for me, cutting back on sweets and lactose helped). Understanding why acne occurs is the first step to tackling it! Learn more here: Debunking Acne Myths: Separating Fact from Fiction ( https://www.eucerin.my/skin-concerns/acne-prone-skin/debunking%20acne%20myths%20separating%20fact%20... )

Acne is often the result of a combination of factors, not just one issue, so it’s about building good habits, adjusting your diet, and using the right products that work for you.

You can try these 4 things out:

1. Start off with cutting down sugar intake (sweets, ice creams, cakes, chocolates), sugar is the key factor that boost acnes.
2. Drink more water, I try to make sure I drink 3L of water everyday, especially in between 10am-4pm, keep your body hydrated = keep your hormones balance
3. Move your body more often. Take a brisk walk in the noon, a walk after dinner, more movements allows your mind & body to release stress, which will helps to regulate your hormones too.
4. Practise hygienic habits. Don’t touch your face with your hands, change your pillow sheet regularly, wash your face thoroughly (gentle but at least massage for 20 seconds !! and wash off for 20 seconds too). Trust me, this helps a lot.

If possible, try not to squeeze your pimples as it will cause even more serious inflammation when you do that (it takes more time to heal as well!!). Use pimple cream / pimple patch, and it will eventually getting smaller & smaller.

All the best in taking care of your skins

Re: Skincare for acne

Hey @maddyy3 ! What’s your price range? “Lower” means different things to different people.

Also, do you know which type of acne you have (have you been diagnosed by a dermatologist)? Some ingredients/treatments work better for certain kinds of acne than others. Example: deep cystic acne’s hard to control with over-the-counter stuff and without a dermatologist’s help.

Without knowing more about what you need, I’ll just say salicylic acid (BHA) is a good starting-point ingredient you can find at pretty much any price point. If you’re allergic to aspirin, you should probably avoid salicylic acid. Otherwise, The INKEY List Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) Blemish + Blackhead Serum 1 oz/ 30 mL might be helpful. A cult favorite (and effective) product is Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant: it comes in full and mini sizes, so you could buy the mini to try (if that’s closer to your price range). Or check your local drugstore (or Target, if you’re in the US) for inexpensive options that contain 2% salicylic acid. Or, you could try swapping out your usual face wash a few times a week with a BHA cleanser like CeraVe Acne Control Cleanser or The INKEY List Salicylic Acid Cleanser 5 oz / 150 ml

Do you use a broad spectrum sunscreen each day your skin’s exposed to sunlight, all year long, regardless of weather or season? Is it at least SPF 30? UV rays can worsen acne and cause other types of skin damage, so sunscreen’s a must.

Re: Skincare for acne

Also i have not been to a dermatologist before and sunscreen 🫣 … i don’t wear often because i don’t like the smell or feel on my face. Thanks for the  Recommendations though!

Re: Skincare for acne

Lower in my head would be not anything expense like drunk elephant something i a good price range everyone can buy if that would help!

Re: Skincare for acne

Hi, @maddyy3 !  It would be nice to know what you currently use; how old you are; and most importantly, if you see a dermatologist.  Since you didn't share that info, I'll list the products I use and let you decide.

- Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant Refillable Exfoliator 2.6 oz/ 74g

- Paula's Choice CLEAR Daily Skin Clearing Treatment with 2.5% Benzoyl Peroxide 2.25 oz/ 67 mL

- SEPHORA COLLECTION 2% Salicylic Acid Acne Treatment Gel 1 oz / 30 mL

- The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Oil Control Serum 2 oz/ 60 mL

- The INKEY List Hyaluronic Acid Cleanser 5 oz/ 150 mL

- Tatcha The Water Cream Oil-Free Pore Minimizing Refillable Moisturizer 2.5 oz / 75 mL

For me, bullet 1 is a must, and bullets 3 & 4 made a significant difference (where have you been all my life?).

Re: Skincare for acne

Thank you! I’m currently using Tatcha Mini The Water Cream 0.34 oz / 10 mL

#SEPHORA COLLECTION All Day Hydrator Hyaluronic Acid Moisturizer 1.69 oz/ 50 mL for mostrizers and a cetephil cleanser

Tower 28 Beauty Mini SOS Daily Rescue Facial Spray with Hypochlorous Acid 1 oz/ 30 mL

These are the products I’m using.
I’ve never seen a dermatologist before.

Re: Skincare for acne

Foe acne I would recommend the glow recipe pore tight toner it is amazing! I would also recommend the drunk glow recipe strawberry serum it helped my acne be way less textured and I saw such great results in only 3 weeks!

Re: Skincare for acne

Well, I can’t fully answer your question, but if you download OnSkin in the App Store, then go into a beauty store, you can scan the barcode and it tells you how safe the product is and what about it is not safe.
