Red face, pores, acne and painful face?

I'm 18, with greasy, red blotchy skin, I have huge pores on my cheeks and nose, and my face constantly hurts and aches from burning breakouts! I need a foundation for this, a nice airy powder, and a primer but I'm completely stuck, there's so much to choose from, anyone out there with the same issue? What do you use?

I would actually stay away from primers because primers that contain silicones will clog your pores in the long run. Since there are several factors in your skin issues, I'm guessing you would want to solve the hurting and aching from burning breakouts first. I really like Murad's Skin Perfecting Lotion. It won't sting or make your face burn more than it does now, at least I hope not. As for foundation, I really like Everyday Minerals. There's an original version, a matte version, and a semi-matte formula. I like using the original version because sometimes I'll get dry patches, so that's the best one for me, but I read that the other formulas provide better coverage. While I don't get huge pores on my cheeks, I do get them on my nose. I think the best thing is to have your skin as moisturized as possible and if you notice greasiness, get rid of it with a blotting sheet, rather than washing your face constantly. The more you wash your face, the drier your face will be, which will in turn produce more oil, so leave your large pores alone untill you settle the burning breakouts first. If you need more help, try finding a dermatologist, but be wise to not let him/her sell you acne products that have ingredients that can be found at Sephora or at any drugstore. A dermatologist visit is expensive as is if your insurance doesn't cover it or only covers it partially. I hope this helps and good luck!

Hi Czechvessy,

I would recommend that you try the Murad Live Clearโ„ข. Acne Complexยฎ Starter Kit. This set includes everything that you would need to help control your acne.

Live Clear™. Acne Complex® Starter Kit ($56 Value)

This set contains:
- 2 oz Clarifying Cleanser
- 1 oz Clarifying Toner
- 1 oz Exfoliating Acne Treatment Gel
- 0.25 oz Acne Spot Treatment
- 1 oz Skin Perfecting Lotion

I would also suggest the Clinque Acne Solutions Liquid Makeup  because it contains acne killing ingredients that will be beneficial to the skin.

I would also recommend the CoverFX Clearprep FX Matte Foundation Primer and Anti-Acne Treatment

Clearprep FX Matte Foundation Primer and Anti-Acne Treatment

What it does:
Cover FX ClearPrep FX is an "anti-shine" primer that reduces lines and pores and is long-lasting and easy to blend. The dermatologist-tested, lightweight gel helps prevent and heal acne blemishes. The Dermaveil-Matte Technology has an Instant Mattifying Effect, while the smoothing veil blurs lines and pores while allowing skin to breathe. It free of parabens, oils, and fragrances and is perfect for all skin types, especially those with oily tendency and are prone to breakouts.

I also like the Bareminerals SPF 15 Matte Foundation for acne prone skin.
