Preventing a scar

I use good old fashioned Neosporin, the kind with the pain relief in it. It does three things: it fights the bacteria, it helps it heal faster, and it since it doesn't hurt or burn after a minute or so, it helps me to leave that dang zit alone so it can heal! Just a teeny tiny little dab applied over the course of about three days helps heal it faster.

While a topical antibiotic ointment makes for less visible scars, the new skin still be slightly darker than the rest of the skin, so when the scab falls off on its own (I think that wins the Gross-Phrase-of-the-Week Award, don't you??) use a Retin-A or similar product. I've been meaning to try Clinique's dark spot line for a while, but I have to get my lazy butt to the mall first! I've heard good things about that product.

There should be a Zit-Poppers Anonymous. I know I'm never supposed to pop a zit, but it gets to that point and I SIMPLY. MUST. POP IT! 🙂

Oil will help prevent a scar from forming. If a scar does form, use Clinique Even Better Clinical - it works for age spots and acne scars, it's hypoallergenic and it's gentle!

For future breakouts don't pop your pimples and try to dry them out. I like Kate Sommerville's "Eradikate" spot treatment. Put a lil dab of that on 20 minutes before bed, sleep, then remove in the AM. The zit will either be long gone or toned way down!

You can put aloe on it...because that doesn't contain any oil.  For future breakouts, use acne products that will dry out the blemish without over-drying it or burning the area.  Look for acne products that contain salicylic acid in a low percentage or sulphur instead of benzoil peroxide.  A really nice product is Bare Escentuals Rare Minerals Blemish Therapy, a sulphur-based powder you dab on blemishes.  Also very good is Clinique Acne Solutions Spot Healing Gel, a liquid with salicylic acid.

Re: 100% vitamin E oil

Can you clarify this a bit? I have vitamin e oil and i have been using it daily/nightly as a moisturizer. I am just wondering if this will cause more pimples though since it is oil. does this prevent scars?
