Needing a tinted moisturizer with spf

I’ve been using IT CC+ cream and I love it for everything except that it can be a bit heavy and coverage too much. What would you recommend to replace it or to do make it less heavy?

I tried putting my IT CC cream over my CoverFX gripping primer, but I didn't think it was any better than over my bare + moisturized skin. Next time I will try it over, or possibly mixed with, Smashbox primer oil, or something like that.

I wonder if the high mineral SPF has anything to do with my happiness with the finish of IT CC cream on me.

Today I tried a layer of Smashbox primer oil, then I used the back of my hand as a palette and mixed some IT CC cream, Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi, and Bare Republic Mineral Sunscreen Lotion. This worked great. The finish is a little dewy and glowy, but the coverage is still plenty, just sheerer. 

I must say I really love mixing D-Bronzi into just about everything. Only difficulty for me is mixing it into things that are already a good shade match for my skin. Adding a dab of plain sunscreen seems to fix that.

@Talgrl  My current favorite tinted moisturizers are LAURA MERCIER - Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 - Oil Free and LAURA MERCIER - Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector Broad Spectrum SPF 30. They work well over my favorite sunscreens and don’t irritate my skin, and I’m glad LM finally expanded their tinted moisturizer shade range. Both LM products give me sheer coverage with a natural skin finish.

You could try some primers underneath it and see how you like it. That is what I'm about to do, I also use IT CC cream, and I like it but for some reason I just don't love it. I don't know why it almost never occurs to me to use primer under products like this -- but it's probably because they're touted as skincare and that makes me feel like I gotta put it as close as possible to bare skin.

This thread reminded me of the time a couple years ago when I bought Bareminerals Complexion Rescue, but I ended up rarely using it because it just wasn't working for me. I think it was pilling a bit or something like that. One day I tried a primer under it...I'm struggling to remember which one...and suddenly it had the perfect finish! It was so great -- unfortunately it was coming up on a year since I'd opened the tube of Complexion Rescue, so its sun protection wasn't trustworthy for much longer, and that really limited its usefulness to evening only. I will probably buy it again in future. @Talgrl 

The primer I used most likely would have been YSL Touche Eclat Blur primer, MUFE Step 1 Smoothing primer, or Hourglass Mineral Veil.

Try the complexion rescue tinted hydrating gel cream from bareMinerals.

I’m a HUGE fan of Elta MD’s SPF 46. It’s tinted and designed for sensitive, acne-prone skin. The only (small) downside is it isn’t available at Sephora.

I really like the Dr. Jart Beauty Balm - the lightest shade is my all-time favorite skin product. It looks like they have recently added a few more shades, which is good! The light color is pretty light- I typically take the lightest shade in most brands, and it works well on me. It looks a little grey when it comes out of the tube, but sheers out to a perfect match.

@Talgrl I feel the same way about the IT CC cream as you. I definitely enjoy it but it’s pretty full coverage! The tinted moisturizers/medium coverage foundations I use instead are -

Oh for goodness sake @gingerleigh I went looking for it on Nordstrom and Jouer site and now it looks like it’s being discontinued! I’m beyond sad. Grabbed a few but it’s virtually sold out. Hoping they are maybe going to redo it and I’m going to ask! Grab one while you can but what a bummer. To me it’s perfect lightness and illumination combined. Figures. 😕😫😢Why they gotta...!

@Talgrl I love the new Ilia but also have loved and used Jouer in the tube ( spf 20 oil free) and Chantecaille Just Skin for years. Wish Sephora would carry this Jouer it’s terrific and lighter!!( hint hint!) .

How about the new Ilia skin tint? it has SPF 40. i haven't tried it yet because it's not available in Canada (eagerly waiting for it to be available!!)
