How to prevent acne scars?

After your pimple is dying down, and you have ensured not to irritate it, pick at it, squeeze it, etc... what do you do to ensure it doesn't scar and leave a mark? I dab tea tree oil on it while it is still a big nasty mess and it reduces it within a day or two, however I have tried to continue with tea tree oil to avoid a scar, and all that did was turn my skin super dry and make a huge scar.

my face rarely breaks out but when it does, it's a huge scar. I was thinking of using vitamin e oil as a daily moisturizer ,would this help the scar prevention/reduction or cause more breakouts?

sounds like you are getting woppers - do these bumps hurt before they come to  a head? it may be an inflamed pore and not an actual pimple.  try the Kate Sommerville EradiKate.  Streight Tea Tree may be too intense - like hitting a fly with a baseball bat.  be kind to your skin gentle is better

Inexpensive things to try: the Vitamin E oil you mentioned or aloe vera gel. Also, I have been wanting to try some diy fruit masks, and on you+ube, secret life of a bio nerd has a yogurt mask said to lighten acne scars. I use Mario Badescu's Whitening Mask $24 it's totally worth it, really has lightened my scars. They have an online store and are also sold at Ulta, try a sample.
