Dr Dennis gross daily peel

Is it safe to use the Dr Dennis extra strength daily peel at night and the paulas choice bha toner in the morning? Or is it okay to use both products in sincere regimen?

Re: Dr Dennis gross daily peel

That peel did a number on my skin and my skin hasn't been the same since. It was the only thing I added or changed for the longest while in my skin care regimen. I suggest you do a patch test first. My whole face was had a sand like texture the following day. There's a lot of alcohol in that product. I had to see my dermatologist afterwards.

How long have you been using each product, @Tasmia5? How often and when to use either can really depend on your own skin and its tolerance for chemical exfoliation. Some people are able to exfoliate daily, others can only handle a couple times a week.

Re: Dr Dennis gross daily peel

@Tasmia5  Which Paula's Choice product you're using? They don't have a BHA toner, but they do have several leave-on BHA exfoliants. Most of those those exfoliants contain 2% BHA, one is 4%, and one is 1%.

I recommend limiting use of any exfoliant (AHA, BHA, PHA, physical scrubs, etc.) to 3 times a week. So if you alternate between the DDG peel and the PC BHA exfoliant, maybe use the PC exfoliant twice during a week and the DDG peel once that week, for a total of 3 times that week. Or I dunno, use the DDG peel twice and the PC exfoliant once, or just use the DDG peel 3 times that week, or however you want to alternate these 2 products. This limit will help ensure you don't over-exfoliate your skin (wreck your skin barrier), which results in very painful, dry, flakey skin that no longer has a barrier against acne-causing bacteria. Even if the directions on each product's package calls for daily use, don't do it.

Definitely don't use both of these exfoliating products on the same night or same morning. DDG still doesn't divulge the % of BHA and AHAs in their products (which is ridiculous and always makes me wonder what they're really trying to hide), so I don't know how strong the extra strength peel really is. But I assume the peel contains the usual amount of BHA: 2%. That + the BHA in the PC exfoliant (depending on which one you use) + however much glycolic acid and other AHAs are in the DDG peel = possibly too much exfoliation for your skin to tolerate in the same night or morning.

@Tasmia5  I believe it is fine to use the toner in the morning and the peel at night. I took the DDG webinar a month or so ago and they even said it is safe to use the peel and a retinol after. The first peel is the acids and the second peel is the neutralizes it. i use a toner every morning as well and I use the peel pads and my skin has been fine!!
