Dilemma with acne scars

Ok, so this might come across as a stupid question. But is it possible to use an anti-aging cream or anti-wrinkle cream that plumps the skin to resurface icepick acne scars? I'm 20 years old and I know I shouldn't be too worried about anti-aging yet. Because I have these pesky acne marks that I'd like to diminish without the help of expensive laser treatments.

Re: Dilemma with acne scars

You should definitely check out the Dr. Jart V7 vitalaser line it is exactly just for that. Hope this helps!

Re: Dilemma with acne scars

You won't necessarily need to go the route of anti-aging products to boost your skin up, try instead a light chemical exfoliation of a peel to help resurface the texture of your skin.

Generally speaking, chemical based exfoliants range in alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), most commonly used are glycolic acids or fruit sugars and enzymes like papaya, pineapple, sugarcane, lemon, and orange; beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), most commonly used is salicylic acid, and further ingredients like poly hydroxy acids (PHAs) or a blend of the AHAs and BHAs along with other acids like lactic acid (milk proteins and enzymes).

Chemical based exfoliants help by breaking down dead skin at the surface that can emphasize areas of scarring, uneven texture and tone, as well as fine lines and wrinkles along with working on a cellular level to promote new and healthier skin cell regeneration. So not only are you buffing off dead and problematic skin, but you're also helping reveal newer, healthier, and smoother skin all without the aid of a harsh scrubbing agent like sugar granuals or crushed fruit seed powder.

For something simple to start off with, try looking into Peter Thomas Roth's Complexion Corrector Pads (available in a regular and gentle formula) as an easy, swipe on treatment packed with alpha and beta hydroxy and conditioning ingredients like antioxidants.

You can use these pads every other day so your skin isn't bombarded too strongly, then move into treatment peels like some of the ones Ole Heriksen offers.

Lemon Strip Flash Peel

Power Peel

Or even a higher grade AHA/BHA peel like one from Dr. Dennish Gross:

Follow up any peel or exfoliation with a good moisturizer and even a conditioning serum. Ole Heriksen's Truth Serum has vitamin C to boost clarity and the natural production of collagen and sodium hyaluronate which binds healthy moisture to skin to plump up suppleness.
