Any recommendations for acne products?

IMG_0652.jpgIMG_0655.jpgIMG_0656.jpgI have never experienced acne before until now that I am in my 20's. I have tried so many products and nothing seems to make it go away. I have used the clinique system, first aid beauty charcoal cleanser, neutrogena products, and am currently using the la-roche posay effacular acne system. I would appreciate any product recommendations that would help to get rid of my acne. Thank you!

Re: Any recommendations for acne products?

Some things that really helped me get control of my acne (with oily/dehydrated skin) involved incorporating Korean beauty skincare steps and products. I'm a big believer in the double cleanse- using an oil-based cleanser to take off sunscreen and makeup and following that with a gentle non-foaming cleanser to wash the skin.

Then adding several light, hydrating layers of toners, essences, serums, and masks to help with hydration. The key for me is to go with gentle products. I've found over the years that ones that are actually labelled as being "acne fighters" were far to harsh for my skin and did nothing to actually help my acne. Also consistent exfoliation, with either gentle physical scrubs or lactic acids like Sunday Riley's Good Genes. Products that contain salicylic acid, tea tree oil, and snail mucin have all been really beneficial for my acne issues.

And ending my routine with a good moisturizer (and sunscreen in the mornings) helps to keep my skin hydrated, meaning less oil production. Building that type of routine has really had a major impact on the quality of my skin over the last several years.

I was having a heck of a time trying to heal my acne, I found that introducing the Extra Strength Alpha Beta peels into my routine really helped to clear my acne @Mackenzie94, as well as using a pH balancing skincare routine.

If you decide to introduce AHA’s into your sincere routine, make sure that you’re using an SPF to protect your skin against sun damage, since the acids cause skin to become more susceptible to sun damage.

@Mackenzie94

I would recommend the Sunday Riley good genes because it exfoliates well but...word of caution...Some people find this very strong the first time they use it. However, the quality is really good. Make sure you put sunscreen on as this makes you more susceptible to the sun.

Try that for a couple of days and see.

Another one to try is Dr. Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Extra Strength Daily Peel pads. Again, this is a strong  peel pad so make sure you use sunscreen.

In addition, make sure to use either product at night and not both at once. That would be overkill. Try a month apart from each other...

I would recommend the Neogen sunscreen. Others might cause you to break out.

Once!

The Murad cleansing line is honestly a life saver took my skin from cystic to hormonal breakouts. Would highly recommend. I believe they’re on sale at Macy’s rn!
