Just for fun 🙂 What's the most expensive makeup/beauty item you've ever bought? And why did you decide to shell out the big bucks for it?

Well, for me it is perfume or scented candles. I am a huge scented candle and perfume snob, and only buy luxury items. I love and pretty much exclusively buy Cire Trudon's candles and have several of them, in scents that speak to me (they go for over 100$ CAD per 90g candle). As for perfume, I love Clive Christian, Kilian and different types of luxury Oud perfumes that are harder to come by in Canada. My ancestor used to make perfume for Queen Victoria, so maybe that's why I am so into scents!

Same! If I bought my fragrances at Sephora, I would def have been Rouge by now 😛

Also, @Smeegle - that is sooooo cool about your relative. England has excellent perfume houses, new and old.

The most expensive beauty purchase I've made so far is the Simple Human Sensor Mirror. It's CDN$250, which may not be a splurge for some, but it was for me. I went back and forth for a long time but I'm so glad I bought it. It's a lighted mirror that senses and lights up when your face is near. That, combined with 5x magnification, has taken my eye makeup application to the next level! Absolutely love it!

Yes, for me too! I bought this in the rose gold version and attachable magnifying mirror. Best beauty purchase ever!

@Beadshopgirl, I've been eyeing it too! Every time I want to travel, I have a split second thought about packing my large size mirror but I always get scared it'll get broken. The travel size is definitely on my list!

I'm not sure who's in Canada but @Beadshopgirl (since you mentioned The Bay) its on SDM Beauty boutique. So if you want to earn some optimum points (or spend some points), it might be a great deal. Ther have the large version and the wall-mounted version too.
