Some do a clarifying shampoo before starting the CG method. Not all clarifying is equal, I like Redken cream shampoo, removes hard water too. Neutrogena t/gel, not every wash, to soothe the scalp, just use on scalp.

For dryness, I use Redken bonder. Which is used before shampoo 1x week, see bottle.

I do have curly hair.

The Moroccan oil probably isn't penetrating the hair enough, sitting on top, since you're still dry. Bumble and Bumble HIO line works, primer and the oil I've used the most. It doesn't sit on top of the hair.

I have always had incredibly dry curly hair and it runs in my family for dandruff or dry flaky scalp because of it. I know it can be troublesome, but split ends will make your hair look drier and not shape which will lead to a desperation of more hair products to maintenance them. You will need to cut them as soon as possible, to keep your curls looking healthy. I don't know your day to day routine, but adding in hair masques at minimum weekly will do great for your hair. Make sure your shampoos are paraben and sulfate free. Conditioners should be alcohol and paraben free. I shampoo (occasionally), but I add moisture daily into my hair. Leave in conditioner is awesome and should not be skipped on your wash routine. So Shampoo, condition, rinse, leave in conditioner. You can rinse your hair between shampoos and scrub your scalp with your finger tips without shampoo, it stimulates the roots and removes dry skin for me.

Itchy scalp is def super annyoning. I would suggest a weekly addition to your shampoo and conditioner rather than just replacing shampoo. I just discovered the tea tree and charcoal drops for scalp. It fee instantly soooo good on scalp. Its meant for it itchy dry. I use it like weekly. And my friend recommended look for a weekly shampoo, dont remember name off top of my head, but meant to wash off excess build up. She told me i had tons and my scalp used to itch a heck of a lot more than now. She was a hair dresser before, and it didnt matter what brand but walk in somewhere and describe what you want. I think i went to Ulta for that. Between those two your scalp should be much better. I saw others said buy shampoo and conditioner without parabens and bad chemicals and i agree. If you dont have them your scalp can recover faster.
