Maintaining Purple Hair

Does anyone have any suggestions or favorite products they’ve used in the past to maintain their purple hair for as long as possible? I realize it’s just going to fade, but I’d like to help it along as much as possible. Thank y’all!

Hey, I used to have more purple-red mix and used a red shampoo and conditioner from John Freida. Your hair (which is gorgeous btw) seems to be pure purple, so perhaps a purple shampoo and conditioner would help? John Freida makes some which I'm currently using for my green hair (helps with yellow tones) and they work really well without breaking the bank. I've also heard of putting a bit of dye into your shampoo to redo it a bit during the shower, I'm assuming it's around the same as using a colored shampoo?

Any color depositing shampoo or conditioner will help. I have been pleased with how long my Joico color butter has stayed. Obviously the less often you wash your hair the better, and when you do, use cool/cold water. Make sure you're also using shampoos that don't contain SLS or SLES.

My absolute favourite purple shampoo is the Milkshake silver shampoo... so purple you have to make sure it doesn't stain your hands.

Hello purple!! Your hair looks amazing!! I work at a hair salon and we usually recommend for those vibrant colors to get a semi-permanent hair dye in the color that best matches what you have. You would squeeze a little of the color into your hand along with some of your regular conditioner and lather your hair up. I would leave in for at least 5 mins but if you are looking to brighten it back up then leave it in for longer. A purple shampoo (Perhaps “The Service Color - No Yellow Shampoo” by Nook) would also be amazing at keeping your purple vibrant!

Overtone also makes colour-depositing conditioners that definitely help keep hair colour lasting longer. They make a purple one for dark and light hair. I've been doing purple for a long time (over 3 years now), so it doesn't fade very quickly for me, but the Overtone definitely works to prolong the colour! And like most people said, a purple shampoo is great as well!

Hi been using Fanola purple shampoo and conditioner for almost 1.5 yrs now and I guess it’s the best so far. My hair never lose its grey tone. Been healthy since I transformed into this color but also I have my salon visits every 6 weeks and get treatments and toning and cut so that helps when you have that maintenance. 💜
