hi! My hair is fine but I have a lot of it. It gets greasy by the end of the day and I’ve tried to “train” it and it doesn’t help. I’ve also tried the igk charcoal dry shampoo but it dries my roots out too much and causes dandruff. It also tangles by the back of my neck my like crazy. What shampoo & conditioners would be good? Or any remedies? I’ve tried oiling and have the ouai fine to medium hair hair mask.

i have a similar issue with my hair, i would make sure to not use to many products on your hair to prevent a build up, and i would recommend using the ouai detoxifying shampoo. It works so nice with my hair as i also have very fine hair, and definitely helps with grease, i would also recommend, if you don’t already, shampooing twice. Those are some things i’ve done and have helped me a ton.

Is your hair long or short, @carowd ? I know when my hair was less than shoulder length, I had to wash it almost every day or it was too oily.

I like to weekly use a detox shampoo, the Ouai one suggested below is good. I also like to alternate weekly with a scalp scrub <LI-PRODUCT title="Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Scalp Scrub Shampoo 8 oz/ 236 mL" id="P418507_1895580"></LI-PRODUCT> .You'll also want to use a deep conditioner (just on the lengthy part, not near the roots) to follow up. I like the <LI-PRODUCT title="Briogeo Don't Despair, Repair!™ Deep Conditioning Hair Mask 8 oz/ 237 mL" id="P388628_1784636"></LI-PRODUCT> .

If you can, try to shampoo every other day and alternate with a dry shampoo (but also if you hair feels better to shampoo every day, then that's all right!!). For dry shampoo, rice powder based ones are quite nice like the <LI-PRODUCT title="amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo" id="P505626_2660538"></LI-PRODUCT> or <LI-PRODUCT title="Bumble and bumble Bb. Pret-a-Powder Tres Invisible Nourishing Dry Shampoo with Hibiscus Extract" id="P422338_"></LI-PRODUCT> . The <LI-PRODUCT title="Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo Duo Set" id="P507120_2688497"></LI-PRODUCT> are both more heavy duty dry shampoos but work well to control oil, but Ive noticed I like to leave them in the night before and comb through and find this doesn't irritate my scalp.

A pre shampoo hair oil or serum can definitely help control oil production after a few weeks. I also like the <LI-PRODUCT title="Fable & Mane SahaScalp™ Hydrating Cooling Scalp Mud Mask 6 oz / 177 mL" id="P501424_2539104"></LI-PRODUCT> if I'm having a dermatitis or dandruff flare up. It really doesn't add to oil (I use it in place of the detox shampoo).

First of all, wash your hair whenever it’s dirty. You CANNOT “train” your hair. Total myth. Especially with us fine-hair girlies.

As for a product I have tried many. There is one I’ve been using for the past 2 months and absolutely love. But it’s not a Sephora brand. It’s by Coco & Eve, “Pro Youth Hair & Scalp Mask”. Has changed my hair. It used to be so greasy, dry, full of dandruff and this has helped tons. Greasy hair that persists despite washes…usually indicates a under hydrated scalp

hipe this helps!

@carowd I have given up on dry shampoos. I just try to avoid using too many products to avoid build-up, and shampoo when needed, usually every day or two. Make sure you are using enough shampoo to really get your scalp clean, and that the shampoo isn't just getting "lost" in your hair. Shampoo twice. Shampoos that seem to do a good job for me include <LI-PRODUCT title="Bumble and bumble Thickening Volume Shampoo" id="P280566_"></LI-PRODUCT> or <LI-PRODUCT title="Kérastase Genesis Strengthening Shampoo for Normal to Oily Hair 250 mL/ 8.5 oz" id="P454994_2325108"></LI-PRODUCT> , <LI-PRODUCT title="OUAI Detox Shampoo" id="P457223_"></LI-PRODUCT> (once weekly, or more often as the first shampoo), and a scrub once weekly like <LI-PRODUCT title="shu uemura Ashita Supreme Purifying Sea Salt Scalp Scrub 11.4 oz/ 325 g" id="P481734_2539559"></LI-PRODUCT> , <LI-PRODUCT title="Kérastase Energizing Scrub: Purifying Scrub for Oily Scalp 8.5 oz/ 250 mL" id="P449767_2267706"></LI-PRODUCT> , or Christophe Robin's sea salt scrub.

Hello, fine hair goddess!

My hair is fine, naturally-wavy/curly, long (to b00b line), gets totally frizzy in this San Fran weather, AND I workout hard everyday while wearing it pulled back rolling on dirty floormats and whatnot so not washing it EVERY DAY would be totally disgusting. Yes, everyone is like, "you can't wash it everyday blah blah blah". Nope, I'm washing it. This modern day society and where I live and all things considered, I would consider it unsanitary for my home if not washed everyday. And guess what, I also have chemically-processed hair on top of all of this!

Finding the right shampoo & oil balance is key for you. Products that work for me (and I'm still looking for my own optimal system) are:

The #volumizing shampoo & conditioner (with kelp) from a line called "100% Pure" based in San Jose, Ca. Try their monthly sub, it's cheaper, but with uglier (bigger size, more product in the) bottles. This works for my fine hair. Think clean products since ur using alot everyday

<LI-PRODUCT title="Moroccanoil Moroccanoil Treatment Hair Oil" id="P412090_"></LI-PRODUCT> and not too much, but focusing on ends more than anything. This will reduce drying time and support.

My hair styling product is <LI-PRODUCT title="COLOR WOW Dream Coat Supernatural Spray Anti-Frizz Treatment" id="P469065_"></LI-PRODUCT> . I didn't like it at first then realized I wasn't using enough. It is heat protectant also. It adds a nice smoothing/hair glass effect and does hydrate to a degree, but meh idk about its hydration effect per say, but it does smooth things out and give you a polished look while helping to seal cuticles. That brings me to this:

Make sure your conditioner does NOT weigh your hair down. Try out different conditioners. I would say this should be your first focus right now. That and buying the dreamcoat to see how it works for you. Styling products are (almost) everything.

Now all that said (sorry, I'm writing an essay right now), I haven't even added in a scalp scrub, deep conditioning, or Leave-In! That would change the whole dynamic and the aforementioned combo I suggested may not even work anymore. I do not know. But if you're washing your hair daily... shouldn't simplicity be a key?

Someone else mentioned to make sure your shampoo doesn't get "lost" in your hair and I totally agree in that you need to be making sure you get a good lather and I do two passes on my hair and rinse thoroughly. I saw this girl once say she shampoos twice and conditions twice and she was beautiful and her hair on point so I do this to this day. Sometimes I'll just do one pass if my hair isn't nasty or if I'm washing twice a day, which happens!

Welp, that's all I've got for now. Hope this helps. Always remember this: You Are Beautiful & You Are Worth It! ❤️ Don't get overloaded and watch out for nasty chemicals in whatever you put on yer noggin'.
