Monthly Favorites: August 2022 Edition!

Happy August, Beauty Insider Community! I hope you’re all soaking up the final rays of summer (though here in San Francisco, our summer is just starting 😜) and putting that SPF to good use. As for me, I’ve been spending the month getting friendly with some brand-new (and in some cases, just new-to-me) products that have become fast favorites! I’ve been giving my claw clip a break and letting my hair down (frizz-free!), testing some hydrating new skincare picks, and channeling fluffy brows and lush lashes. What about you, BIC? Have you been falling back in love with some old favorites, or getting your hands on as much summer newness as possible? Let’s talk August faves!

If you know me you know I love a good glowy/dewy look on my dry combo skin. Currently loving these products:

Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Foundation shade 2. No longer sold at Sephora but got my shade at Nordstrom online.

@itsfi yes! i love it. it's no but for a tinted brow product it does a great good job at getting my wiry brow hairs to stay put, nice 'n fluffed!

@SportyGirly125 I love a Charlotte Tilbury moment! I recently revisited my Flawless Filter, because for awhile I just couldn't decide how to use it (too many possibilities maybe??), but now that I've picked it back up, I love the subtle glow it gives when mixed with foundation.

August is going by too fast for me, but It was a great month of new purchases that I loved!

HOURGLASS Ambient Lighting Infinity Powder is one new fav. Gives my skin an amazing summer glow.

SHISEIDO Hanatsubaki Hake Polishing Face Brush is one of the best brushes I've used! Feels like soft velvet on my skin. I use that to apply the Hourglass powder and it finishes the look perfectly.

@AlexBT I love all of the Hourglass powders, they have the perfect finish for me. Hourglass is my to go brand for powders and will always be. The Ambient powders I've used since forever are the Diffused light and the Ethereal Light. The Infinity has more pearlescent golden finish compared to the other two. When I apply to my whole face it gives me the illusion of golden finish on my skin. I also use it as a bronzer sometimes for a more subtle look.

I have spent the month trying lots of new skincare items that have also been fast favourites!!!

#SEPHORA COLLECTION Ultra Glow Serum: Glow + Strengthen Vitamin C Serum 30 ml/ 1.01 fl oz

I had super low expectations but this is becoming my fav!

literally smells like summer

is definitely the foundation I am reaching for!!

Rhode glaze is the best serum I have tried. I love how it makes my skin feel!

Rhode peptide lip balm is perfect for summer. Super hydrating and the watermelon slice scent is so yummy.

@SportyGirly125 Some amazing picks! My sister swears by the CT Hollywood Flawless Filter, need to try it out sometime but anything from CT and Tatcha is usually a hit for my skin. 🙂

My favorites this month are mostly skincare.

I am stunned at how good my skin has been since starting the Fresh Tea Elixir! My normally alright but aging skin feels noticeably firmer and bouncy after just a few weeks and that’s after a lifetime of pretty dedicated skincare. I am praying this product is a Fresh staple and that it doesn’t disappear in a year. The temptation to buy a backup right now just in case is very strong.

Another serum on my favs list is Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance serum. I got a little sun damage camping earlier this summer so have been fading some shoulder freckling and this has been absolutely fantastic! It’s lightweight and milky but packs a skin tone evening and freckle fading punch!

I’ve been using the Lawless Forget the Filler Overnight Lip Plumping Mask as a lip balm all month. It’s wonderfully fruity scented and lightly cooling without being minty. My lips have been pretty happy with it so I haven’t been reaching for my other balms much.

I’m very happy I powered through after bad experiences with the Lady Gaga power pigment (difficult to remove) and lip crayon (drying and patchy) and purchased the Haus Labs Bio Gel Powder Highlighter in Peach Quartz!!! It’s glorious and such a perfect match for my skintone!! The glitters may be a bit much for some but I love glitter and the color match is soooo perfect that it doesn’t glitter stun until I’m in bright light:). I own a lot of highlighter but have never had one that matched my skin so well! plus there’s no powderiness! It smooths right into my skin glitters and all! What a treasure!!

The Laneige Hydro UV Defense sunscreen has been my holy grail all summer. I’m in need of another:). It mixes well with my foundation and makes a great tinted moisturizer;).

How gloriously perfect of a skin tone match!

@Missnur Hourglass powders are sooo hard to beat for glowy skin blurring!!! The closet effect I’ve found is from the Dior Backstage Perfecting translucent powder and it’s not exactly a money saving dupe - just more sheer on the skin. Hourglass powders have a special place in my heart

ouhhh I have to check this brush out!!

@AlexBT @SportyGirly125 My bottle of HF sat unused for so long, then I tried it under my foundation. Upper cheekbones, chin, cupid's bow, forehead...it gives me a subtle glow, and it's not too much in photos.

@AlexBT I feel like I may have needed more time with that copper serum than my deluxe sample delivered- or that one of my other products was already performing it’s task and I just didn’t notice any changes in my skin. Everyone seems to love it and my skin didn’t get worse while using it so it must have been maintaining something😅
I’m putting that Color Wow on my list. I love products that deliver shine!!! Is it lightweight or a more heavy serum?

@SportyGirly125 I forgot thé Tacha Skin Mist existed after I ran out and I LOVED it!!! CT is really good about having more subtle undertones in her shades which is greatly appreciated.
