Nails Inc has a new line of nail polish called NailKale. I was attracted to the colors before I even read the pitch about its supposed benefits. Bless Alexa Chung - that new ad for this product made me laugh! If you haven't seen it, check out the photos posted on Sephora's Facebook page. Nails Inc made her lie on a bed of chopped kale. Like a salad. I wonder if she channeled Zoolander. Green Kale instead of Blue Steel The photos are gorgeous of course and Alexa made it work. Still it reminded me of comedian Jim Gaffigan's rant about the Kale Propaganda. I don't believe adding kale to nail polish will make any difference. However, I will still buy the nail polish because I like the colors. Have you ever done something like this?

Hello, guys and dolls! ;-) So it's been some time. Several months, in fact. I've been drifting in and out of BT, present and then not present, floating around here and there and hanging in the best I can. Why? I'm pretty sure at least half of you familiar with me have guessed. I've been working on a 'new' project! And the twelve-week bump. I'm a little over twelve weeks today, and I had my twelve-week appointment to check on the heartbeat. My husband and I are so thrilled to start a new chapter in our lives this March! You wonderful BTers are actually a little bit early to hear. Our family and close friends in real life already know, but we won't be announcing on Facebook until we hit 13 weeks on Sunday, because that's when we'll be announcing to our church family officially, too. I'm so glad I don't feel like I have to keep a big secret anymore! I hope this explains my patchy absence for the past several months, since I've been dealing with some wicked morning sickness that struck more in the evenings than anytime else. I'm holding out for the queasiness to ease off in the coming weeks! Special shout-out to lylysa who helped me search for a few pregnancy-safe skincare items last month. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am loving my Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Gel! And that's all. Carry on.
Hello BT! Today is August 1st and that means another month of hauls! This month is the 2x/3x/4x the points for BI,VIB and ROUGE respectively. This is a great time to stock up on points lost throughout the year! Please share your purchases! Remember, a haul is a haul no matter how big or small!
Someone in a Facebook group posted this question, so now I'm curious to know how much YOUR face is worth! Add the price of everything you used! (You can add skincare if you want ) Today, my face is worth $139!
After trying a product once or twice I usually have it sorted into three fairly ridged categories: love, no, or meh. Once a product has entered the "no' opinion category it takes a lot for me to re-evaluate it. Recently, I've been trying to give things a better chance by playing with my primers. I always used to be of the opinion that if a product didn't work with the rest of my regular makeup routine, it wasn't for me. Most recently, I've changed my opinion of Marc Jacobs Kiss Pops. The first time I used them, after reapplying I would end up with balls of product on my lips and I gave most of mine away. Using a hydrating primer made that product leap from my "no" to "love' list. What products have surprised you once you gave them another chance?
How about a little spin on "what are you wearing"? I'm putting myself out there right now with a not very flattering "before" and a much more forgiving "after." Come and join me in some transformation magic! Before: After: The Tools:
This hasn't been started yet so I'll give it a go. Today is the last day that SiJCP has an extra 25% off clearance so I stopped in to poke around before I start up the smoker for tonight. I grabbed all these goodies for $30.
What are some products you regret NOT buying? For me, it's the Estee Lauder Heat Wave Illuminating Powder. I'm so mad because it's so pretty! I walked past it in stores so many times and now it's taunting me because a YouTuber mentioned it.
Okay so some of you know I went out to Mexico. Reason was for a dentist appointment, everything was done yesterday and today i'm in pain (not excruciating, but I don't want to touch my face much still).. I went to MAC and Sephora for two reasons.. Russian Red and some eyeshadows. Both sephoras have the same eyeshadows for the new artist shadow MUFE so I just started looking at other stuff. I ended up buying 'The real steal' which comes with the benefit they're real mascara and the they're real push up liner. YES, I wanted to try it and I'm not paying extra money for the liner Anyway, I was headed back to where I had parked and a makeup beauty stand in the middle of the mall stopped me, mind you i kept saying no but they pulled me in with their hurried insistance? that even a word? I'm pretty sure the brush they used to appy their mineral foundation was dirty, but I was wearing my glasses so when I took them off reluctantly I couldn't really see. He was so rough when applying that know my cheek where I had work done hurts. I just told them thanks and I'll buy something tomorrow when I get paid. They even told me I should return my sephora stuff to buy theirs.. what? .. Anyway, the foundation he put was like two shades darker than my skin. What was he thinking? Geez. One thing is other kiosks trying to lure you in, but when it's makeup ones.. ugh.
--closed-- Box of awesome high end items and unicorns, show me yours and I'll show you mine, lol. While I’m not “ancient”, I’ve been on BeautyTalk WAY longer than I ever expected and have made some very good friends….as well as been enabled into getting WAY more makeup, lol. It is getting a bit overwhelming and as much as I like pretty things, my style is more minimalist, so I don’t reaaally need 6 or 7 jars of Guerlain meteorites etc. To help revamp/reorganize my stash as well as having some fun with the awesome friends I’ve made, I’m doing the LUV TB. It contains lots of makeup that I love but never use, altho I couldn’t bear to part with any perfumes or majority of the skincare, so you ladies will have to make up for it along the way. Keep it classy, with high end and preferably new or lightly used things. No drugstores. Since it’s got tons of expensive items, I asked people I trust who are interested, so the box is closed. If it goes well, I may do another one next year when I've accumulated enough treasures. =P Expand below to see the rules, taken from the awesome roxystar4 and slightly simplified: Spoiler (Highlight to read) * Please make sure every item is in a plastic ziplock bag to prevent spills. I thought it'd be fun to create a thread where we share our 'mask faces'! I'd love to see how lovely & silly you all look with masks on It'd be great if you mention the name of the mask you are using as well! I'll start things off! Tonight I am using the Lush Magnaminty mask
So I'd like to maintain a board for the Canadian customers. A place where we can share our events, promos, problems etc. I sometimes see deals and info for Canadians and rather then posting a new convo all the time maybe we can just share on this board. I think it would be easier to communicate with each other if we only had one board to follow. - I recently posted that Nail Polish Canada has free shipping on any orders for a limited time. EDITED: Anyone interested in getting Tonymoly products you can contact them via their Canadian Facebook page to place an order. 5$ shipping, free over purchases 50$. I think they have a store in Pacific Mall in Markham ON Tarte now ships to Canada!
Hello there, ladies and gents! Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask: "What's on your plate?" The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween! For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet. Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water. For lunch today, I had: -Brown rice -Steamed egg -Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper -Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens) Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have?
We've all been there...a bag full of unused or disappointing make up from the drug store, which I still like but without the ability to try before buy you end up with a lot of fails. Then you find Sephora and wonder, is the price worth it? You try a few things, you like a few things, you see the price tag and tell yourself: "Eh, I can go with ramen noddles for a week to afford this." And then you buy it. What was your first purchase? Why did you choose it? I always like hearing other stories like this. Share on!
I've been on the Ipsy waiting list, but still look at the thread. I thought we could have a shared thread from all the subscription boxes (including non-beauty ones likes underpants and lifestyle such as Wantable and POPSugar). That way we can live vicariously through each others goodies! (I know there are unboxing videos on YouTube, but I do not have the patience to sit through a five minute video about someone apologizing for the state of their hair. And I know there are blogs where I can see photos, but everyone usually gets different items in their boxes)
A while back I had made a look using the colors of the stray cat that took shelter in my home, I've fed and given her water ever since. This is the second time she's had kittens, unfortunately the last litter didn't survive and from what I know she only had two this time but only one has made it to the barely opening eyes stage. She had them on July 1st. I haven't named the kitty yet, but here's a picture of his(I'm thinking it's a he) cuteness. Taken today.
This thought popped into my head this morning and I asked myself, "why do i buy high end products?" I buy a few high end products because there's more options, finishes, and shades to choose from. Do you shop high end because of the different shades and options? or is it because you like brand name products?

You need to: 1) Post in this thread 2) PM me, include full name, full address, if you were on a previous train, and if not the info above (Member for how long, somebody else who can vouch for you). This is a second round of a box, so there is a HUGE variety in here, so much great stuff (thank you previous participants!!). Very exciting to start a box that is such a great mix to start with. Once the train order is set, you need to PM the person who is sending to you your address right away, don't wait until the train is close to you!
I didn't see a thread around about this so redirect me if one exists! I thought it'd be neat to have a discussion thread for members who play sports. I play ice hockey and I find that I needed to adjust my beauty regiment as a result of my beloved sport. Different masks, different hair care, etc from all the sweat and (surprisingly) dirt involved with playing. Note, I don't actually wear makeup when I play haha although I've seen girls that do! One issue I am having at the moment is finding a top coat that will protect my polish through a game. I'm on the ice 2-5 days a week and I'd really like to only have to redo my nails twice a week. Anyone have any suggestions? Right now I'm using Seche Vite (which I love) but I want to see if there's anything out there that's a little more durable. Tell me about your sport and the beauty challenges that come along with it!!
Are there any phrases and/or words that you think are overused and are starting to bug the heck out of you? The one that is getting on my nerves the most is "curated". For example, "this makeup line was curated by our beauty editor." I just feel it's so over the top and pompous. Also, the word "sweet" instead of "cool". I actually heard a woman who had to be at least 75 years old using it. I laughed so hard I almost fell over.
It would be great if Sephora carried these brands. In no order... Charlotte Tilbury Chanel MAC Kiehl's Tom Ford Jo Malone Inglot Sigma Burberry RBR Gerard Cosmetics Also, bring back Illamasqua and TheBalm
Happy Mani Friday! This week's mani is brought to you buy Nails Inc's Alexa Chung Fabric Collection, specially Alexa Lace and Cashmere . Since you know I always give you guys the *real* real, I will say that the "lace" polish is essentially a fine matte red glitter. However it is quite pretty from afar, and if you squint your eyes it does kind of have a lacey effect (just don't pile it on, you need your base color to show through). It's a cool "nail art" effect for folks who don't really *do* nail art (or folks who can't wear it to work, which...the horror...). What do you think?
What are you rockin' on your tips this weekend? Show and Tell!
Lastly, a small announcement. Your favorite Community Manager (that'd be me) is getting married next Friday (!!), so I will be MIA for the next two weeks. But never fear! I have scheduled manis to post for your enjoyment; I just won't be around to chop it up with you guys in the comments. Wish me luck!
So we all like makeup, but there are some of us out there who also do other things as well, including playing instruments. I am curious and therefore, I thought it would be interesting to see if anyone on here plays a instrument out there. If so, come and share with us and tell us why you choose that instrument. 1. Mandolin - Not to be confused with an orange (seriously, I get it a lot of that from people). It is also not a mini guitar (yes, that too). For those who don't know, a mandolin is a cross between a fiddle/violin and guitar. I am actually just beginning to learn it but the reason why I learned it is because I wanted to try something similar to a guitar but different. There are too many people who play guitar and therefore, I wanted to play something cool that wasn't a very well known instrument; something unique. I ended up with the mandolin. Although I am just beginning to learn it, I am learning it rather quickly (all thanks to my violin background). The only thing I am seeming to have trouble on is the strumming, which I will get used to once I practice some more. So far, it is enjoyable and I can already play Hot Cross Buns on it (day 1). I am also able to tell which note is off and which one is dead on. As for the type of mandolin I own, it is a Gibson A-9. 2. Violin - I've actually been playing it for seven years and therefore, I am pretty advanced on it. This instrument had helped me to learn the mandolin. To be honest, I really did not want to learn violin and was sorta forced into it but I grew to love it as I played it more. Perhaps it was because it challenged my brain a lot more than the other instruments would have, due to the fact you are doing multiple things at once (bowing and fingering). What about you? What instruments do you know how to play?
