Hi I am just wondering if any groups exist for postal exchanges? I live in the UK and love everything beauty related. Unfortunately not everything is available for shipping to the UK on the Sephora website. I understand that works the same for many members here too. Some items in the UK are not available for purchase for USA residents. I am wondering if a group already exists where international members help purchase & post items? I have a huge list that I am lusting over but none on the list is available for purchase.
I am planning to have a revamp done for my parlour. I prefer the cabinets on the wall rather than the normal cabinet furniture. Would like to know more about them from those who have such cabinets in their parlours. Need help with the best custom cabinet makers and the type to go for (walk-in, custom, linen, reach-in) so that I can comfortably stack all the beauty productsand equipments avoiding cluttering. Any suggestions regarding lancaster cabinets and closets
I've never really shopped at Mac Cosmetics before, but Sephora I'm more comfortable. I want to know some differences if any at Mac Cosmetics. If someone who has worked or shopped there, i want your personal feedback. 1. Are customers allowed to try on their products (just to test it out) even if they don't like it afterwards? 2. Do they gladly give you a take home mini sample of a product your interested in? 3. Do they accept returns for products that have been slightly used? 4. Do they have a positive attitude when helping customers with makeup needs (help nicely and be friendly if you want to have more information) ?
Hey girls, I received an email today saying I am pre-approved to receive an Ulta credit card. I have yet to hear anyone actually speak on this. Just want to know your thoughts. I can post pictures with info on it, but only if you want to see. I probably won't be accepting it since Ulta's are out of the way for me, and I don't need another credit card. But I also want to know if Sephora had a credit card, would you apply for it? and if so what perks would you like to see?
I'm not sure if I'm just misunderstanding something or if there is actually something wrong? I'm trying to place an order from Too Faced and signed up for theri newsletter to get their 20% off discount. When I enter the discount for my $91 worth of products ($96.65 with tax) the discount works and says "20% off welcome offer", however only $10.40 is being taken off? 20% of 91 is $18.20 ($19.33 if it's taken off the taxed value). The discount excludes anything from their "new" page and sale items, however nothign in the order is from their new page or on sale? So, what's the issue here? The items in my cart are: born this way foundation, chocolate soleil matte bronzer, and la creme lipstick in sugar daddy (not one of the colors on sale). Thank you! **I've emailed their customer service, but never got a confirmation email back and have read really bad experiences with getting in touch with their customer service. So, not really expecting a response anytime soon.
Viktor & Rolf is known for both artful design and a well-known fragrance line ( Flowerbomb , anyone?). The masterminds behind the brand are Co-Founders Viktor Horsting & Rolf Snoeren. We asked you to tell us your questions for the brand and the designers sat down to answer your questions about their iconic fragrance line, their creative process and more.
I’m really curious how you come up with your fragrances. What is your inspiration?
Fragrance is like an aura, an extension of yourself - clothes are too, but fragrance addresses different parts of the brain. Through fragrance, one can communicate without speaking, triggering memories and emotions.
When did you realize that you had created such an iconic fragrance [i.e. Flowerbomb]? Would you describe it as iconic?
The juice is a killer - it is just so good. The mix of bottle, ad and juice appeals to many different types of women - it is feminine and romantic but not in a passive way, it is empowering and assertive.
With so many variations of floral fragrances in the industry, what makes Flowerbomb so iconic and unique?
The power of transformation: Flowerbomb has the power to transform anything into something positive and beautiful.
With so many variations of floral fragrances in the industry, what makes Flowerbomb so iconic and unique?
The power of transformation: Flowerbomb has the power to transform anything into something positive and beautiful.
What is the design process like for your gorgeous fragrance bottles? What is the ideology behind the bottle designs?
We work together creatively as one, it is almost as if we have one shared brain. For Flowerbomb, the bottle is a diamond grenade: a beautiful, luxurious weapon. It is a beautiful object in itself, and it is very tactile too.
Is Spicebomb truly a male fragrance, or is it unisex?
We developed Spicebomb with the intent to create a fragrance that we would personally wear. Spicebomb is our answer, our desire to have a perfume for men, like Flowerbomb has become for women.
I love how you succeed to continuously catch the attention of clients by releasing Flowerbomb Limited Edition bottles each year. What inspires you to create these editions?
Often, the inspiration comes from our collections, but it can also come from the holiday season itself - from a desire to make something decorative that is festive, new and modern at the same time.

First off I want to say that BT is one of the highlights of my day and I truly enjoy these forums. It is one of the first things I do when i turn on my computer in the morning and the last thing I do before going to bed. It would be safe to say that BT is an incredibly impt part of my life. This is why I think it is impt that I share the following with all of my BT friends: Last Wednesday night, Oct 5, 2016, I woke up in the trauma ward of my local hospital. Earlier that day I had been involved in serious motor vehicle accident where my car was totaled and I had sustained multiple serious injuries. Over the course of the following 48 hours in the hospital, I subsequently had two major surgeries and a myriad of tests. It was quite something to experience, I do not want to bore you with my troubles and i am not coming here begging for sympathy. My main reason for posting this info is to simply let my friends I have made on BT know what happened, especially if I am not as vocal in the coming months. For those who are wondering, I am now in a medical rehabilitation center, having been discharged from the hospital four days ago. I am completely (temporarily) disabled on my entire left side from the chest down. (thank goodness I am a righty.) From here on I will focus on daily three hour sessions in both physical & occupational therapy focused on getting me back to be the normal and fully functioning 36 year old woman that I was up until a week ago. They say I will be here for many weeks/months. I do still plan to “lurk” on the BT boards but right now between the recent trauma. feeling quite down, and honestly just losing the will to shop, (I know, shriek!) I don’t think I would be as valuable a contributor. Sending my love to all my BT friends… I’ll be thinking about ya!
I was charged for the October Play box on the 2nd of October, but haven't received. This is is my first month, so please forgive if this is a silly question, but why is it taking so long? When do the normally bill and ship?
When it comes to beauty, I'm all about natural ingredients so I was instantly fascinated by the products sourced from Farmacy’s upstate New York farm. I was lucky enough to ask the brand's co-founder and Chief Creative Officer, Mark Veeder, a few questions before our Live Chat next week. (Save the date: Mark will be live on BT this Tuesday, October 18th from 12-1 pm PDT !!)
How did Farmacy get its start?
Farmacy was the perfect storm of passion, timing and fate — in a way, it needed to be born. I had patented Echinacea GreenEnvy™ nearly a decade before we launched and always wanted to create products with it. I met David Chung in early 2014 (he is our co-founder and owner of Engelwood Labs, the lab that does all our formulations) and he realized the power of GreenEnvy™ right off the bat. So we dove in, and when we presented our concept and Echinacea GreenEnvy™ to the amazing visionaries at Sephora, they not only wanted it, but worked with us to develop the right products. We launched in seven months which is unheard of in the industry.
Tell us! What’s the secret behind Echinacea GreenEnvy™?
Echinacea GreenEnvy™ contains the highest concentration of cichoric acid of any tested version of the species. Cichoric acid is a powerful anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory that fights free radical attack and signals the immune system to boost collagen. It also helps inhibit the production of melanin thus giving the skin a more even, brighter tone. But, the plant’s power is really amplified and harnessed through the use of science, that's why we say that Farmacy is Farmer Cultivated, Scientist Activated. Our team of scientists have perfected the extraction process of the active ingredients to achieve maximum potency and then combined them with other actives to achieve our incredibly effective formulas.
How did you (and your skin!) react when you discovered the skin-enhancing Echinacea GreenEnvy™?
It was a big OMG moment -- and I knew I needed to bring it to market so that the world (and its skin) could benefit from it. My skin has never been better, the chicoric acid in GreenEnvy™ has evened out my skin tone and reduced the dark spots as well as smoothed my fine lines and wrinkles, especially around my eyes.
From farming to marketing, you’ve done it all! Why did you choose to pursue skincare?
I have always been interested in skincare and, truth be told, I’m a bit of a product junkie myself but could never find that perfect line that fulfilled all my desires. When I discovered that Echinacea GreenEnvy™ had additional power over the normal echinaceas on the market, my first thought was to use it in skincare. Echinacea boosts the immune system and the skin is the largest organ of the body so I thought it was destined to do the most good.
What’s it like to work with bees on your honey farm—did you have to conquer your fears?
I’m still conquering them! I didn't realize how much work bees are when I came up with the idea to add hives to our farm but with some expert help, I'm getting the hang of it and enjoying this amazing new adventure.
Which step in a skincare routine in is the most important?
I believe the most important step in any skincare routine is moisturizing because it is with the proper formulas of moisture that you can deliver key healing and nourishing actives deep into the skin. My recommended hydration process is two-fold:
• First, always use a very nourishing and potent serum under your day cream and night treatment. Our Invincible Root Cell Anti-Aging Serum is super potent with 10% Echinacea GreenEnvy™, 5% of a pro-form of vitamin C that is stable and only activates upon contact to the skin, and a triple action hyaluronic acid complex that delivers actives to all levels of the dermas.
• Second, use a deep moisturizing mask that is filled with actives at least twice per week. Our Coconut Gel Masks are a quick and easy way to hydrate when you don’t have 20 minutes to lay down and disconnect because, since they fit close to your skin, you can do one on a flight, or while catching up on social media, making dinner or watching a movie. If you have the time to disconnect, our new Honey Potion Renewing Antioxidant Hyrdation Mask has been proven to increase the moisture of your skin from 45-55% on average after just one application.
What is the best skin advice you’ve heard that the BeautyTalk community would benefit from?
Add a serum into your daily routine — it delivers powerful actives deep into the skin before you add your moisturizer. And also Mask at least 2 times per week, especially as we go into the winter season, you will see a big difference in your skin.
What big skincare trends do you think we will see more of in 2017?
I believe the trend of active botanicals will continue to grow — we are excited about some new discoveries we are pursuing that are all botanical ingredients that are activated by science. Stay tuned!

I can't believe it took me so long to start this thread -- I usually have started scoping the deals in September! But come one, come all, join the excitement of the weekend and let us know what deals you find!
And with that - it's actually October! It's finally starting to feel like Fall, and I'm excited to start using all of those Hiliday items that have been out since, pretty much summer . Also - Happy Birthday to any fellow October babies! This year is Dirty 30 for me, and after a sinful September for me, I may have to spend most of this month admiring your hauls rather than sharing my own :x ETA: I'm having a bit of insomnia and was surprised not to see an October Hauls thread already. If I missed it in my bleary eyed state - please let me know
Are you still able to earn points after you review a sample in your box from a past month? I'm trying to review my samples but it's looking like I'm only receiving points from this month's samples? Can someone please explain this to me please?
EDIT: This is the email I just received: Dear Valued Beauty Insider, We recently sent you a package directly from Kat Von D, which includes a Vegan Makeup Bag, a Tattoo Liner in Trooper and an Ink Liner in Trooper. This was sent as an apology for the experience you may have had with the 750 point Kat Von D coffin reward you recently redeemed, which many clients found to be disappointing in quality. We hope you enjoy this set of full sized products! Regards, Sephora Community Support Team ****** Yesterday evening UPS dropped off a black t-shirt style box at my door. I had no idea who it was from and I was not expecting any deliveries. This is my version of unboxing: 1. Just the tissue paper/before the reveal 2. The reveal/ It is a KVD looking clutch of sorts 3. Inside are two full size Eyeliners! Color me both surprised and impressed. I was definitely not expecting this gratis token/gift and I am pleasantly surprised! Hopefully other BTers will report that they have received one as well. Yeah Kat Von D for hitting a home run with this one. I am one happy client right now!

Whether you’re a qualified make-up artist looking for clients, or just an enthusiastic beauty blogger, social media is a great platform to get noticed. It’s a crowded space though. So how can you make sure you stand out?
Create a brand
It’s important to start cultivating your brand early on. This includes the basics, like a name and profile image; but it will also help to inform your content and how it’s edited. A good place to start is by thinking about your style, or what kind of styles you like to create. Do you love creating clever, natural make-up looks? Or are killer nails your thing?
Other things to consider might be colour schemes, tone, language, and (of course) your target audience.
Find your audience
Your target audience goes hand in hand with your brand – especially if you’re trying to sell your services. It’s important to know who you’re talking to! For example, teenagers aren’t likely to be interested in your new expensive foundation; and ladies might not care much about your excellent beard trimming techniques.
Different platforms attract different audiences; and those audiences expect different kinds of content.
Target your content
For make-up and beauty, Youtube and Instagram are ideal starting points. YouTube is great for tutorials for a full face of make-up, or an intricate up do – think about 5 minutes or more, with a voice over or you explaining what you’re doing. Instagram, on the other hand, has traditionally been used for photos.
However, in 2013 Instagram introduced 15 second videos; they upgraded this to 60 second videos in early 2016. This won’t be enough for a full face tutorial, but it’s plenty of time to demonstrate a cool technique or new product. The expectations for an Instagram video are different that for longer videos on Youtube – for instance, users are less likely to turn on the sound.
Make it personal
The top reason that social media has become such a valued marketing tool is the “social” aspect. Beauty gurus who make it aren’t necessarily better at what they do than everyone else; most of the time, they’re just more interesting, or more likeable.
Take Pixiwoo, for example. They’re a sister duo of makeup artists who have a huge online following. One of the sisters, Nikki did a make-up tutorial while heavily pregnant, and Sam recently did a video with her eleven year old daughter. They’re incredibly likeable, and subscribers get an insight into their business and personal lives through following them online.
How has this contributed to their business? Well, they’ve recently filmed a documentary for the BBC, no doubt because of their easy style in front of the camera. They also have their own range of brushes, which they often use in their videos (and led me to buying a few). But despite their success, they still publish regular tutorials and keep their Twitter and Instagram up to date, which keeps their fan base hooked.
Get stuck in
More important than anything that’s gone previously is this number one tip: get started! You can add new platforms later on, and hone your brand and audience as you go. The most important part is doing. It’s recommended that brand social media accounts post every day; more for instant platforms like Twitter and Instagram.
When you’re getting started, you might worry about having limited content to work with. I recently helped my friend get kicked off on social media, and we’ve tried a smattering of content to find out what works best. This has included some cross-channel promoting (ask your Instagram followers to like you on Facebook and vice versa); asking clients to contribute using the #selfiesaturday hashtag; and posting about what’s going on in the salon. Mixing up your posts like this keeps it fresh, and helps to build your online personality. It also allows you to find out what your followers like best, and can guide your ongoing strategy.
I am currently a high school student who is trying to snag her first job at Sephora. I am currently in the process of filling out the online application. The thing is, I have no clue on who to put as a professional reference! Please help by listing some people who could vouch for me when applying to a cosmetic-related job such as Sephora!
