Ok so here I have the latest palettes I've gotten and I thought they all looked similar and maybe some of you might be trying to decide which one to get or compare the colors. The ones I have here are: Laura Mercier Naked 3 TooFaced Chocolate Bar Lorac Pro Here they are in natural light: and here I flipped the camera and added flash.... The two that looked the most alike are the Chocolate bar and the lorac pro (sorry I didnt mean to chop off the names of the lorac bottom shades) If you want swatches of some of the colors I will do some. These two are crazy close....
After reading about the really lousy service offered by Benefit, I thought you might like to hear a good story. I ordered the LORAC Ravish Little Lace Palette when Hautelook had it on sale and was offering free shipping. It arrived today and two of the shadows were crushed. (I won't complain about Sephora boxes and the paper that they used. This was in a plastic mailing envelope with bubble wrap not around it tightly (and thus not around it when it arrived.) I called and the person I talked to immediately credited my credit card for the amount of the purchase (since it certainly cannot be replaced now) and gave me a $10 account credit for my trouble -- for an $8 item. In addition I don't need to worry about returning the item. (So, has anyone ever managed to reconstitute/salvage cracked shadow in a palette?) Of course I'd have rather had the item intact, but I am very glad to have the issue on a "no returns" item resolved so quickly.
It may be a little bit early but I am already thinking about my resolutions for the New Year. Wondering if others are doing the same? Here are a few of my top resolutions: In 2013 I obtained a lot of makeup and learned application. For 2014, I want to work out and eat better so my insides are as beautiful as I try to make my face and hair. I am going to work a bit more on staying on budget. I can get lured in pretty quickly by sales and limited edition items. That will still be fine in 2014 but I will have an amount I have per month I can do that with. I want to "pay it forward" more, and just practice more random acts of kindness. I am surrounded by wonderful people in my life and I love my friends here on BT - I feel very lucky and want to share, even in small ways, with others. Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season!!
Howdy ladies! After all the good deals this yr I've completely exhausted my spending and any reason to buy anything. I will be on a no buy until mid-Jan (if Jan really is skincare month then that means I've still got 15 days after that for whatever promo, no excuse!) My Christmas/New Year resolution is to spend just enough to qualify for VIB for the rest of the year , and I'm going to try fund most of it through Swagbucks/Bing Rewards/Ebates (PM me if you want to know more about those sites). With that said, this is a no buy thread for the first 30 days, a palate cleanser if you will, for next year. Anyone/everyone is welcome to join me. This is not meant to bash any particular products, but if you post then I'll give you reasons why you should delay the purchase, consider the alternative, or why you don't need it. I will keep all my disabling to this thread, so please, ladies, let's not turn this into an enable thread . =P Now then, will I succumb to exciting advertisements and fancy packaging? or will I hold onto my will power and succeed in actually saving some money?
So I'd like to maintain a board for the Canadian customers. A place where we can share our events, promos, problems etc. I sometimes see deals and info for Canadians and rather then posting a new convo all the time maybe we can just share on this board. I think it would be easier to communicate with each other if we only had one board to follow. - I recently posted that Nail Polish Canada has free shipping on any orders for a limited time. - I forgot to mention that The Bay will be hosting Beauty Gala's this coming week. You have to buy a ticket but out of the 10$ 2 goes to charity and 8 towards your purchase. Some counters give free stuff when you buy the ticket from them. You get your make-up done too at that counter I'm going and very excited about it! EDITED: Anyone interested in getting Tonymoly products you can contact them via their Canadian Facebook page to place an order. 5$ shipping, free over purchases 50$. I think they have a store in Pacific Mall in Markham ON
So, I'm about to throw in the towel and accept the fact that there are only good men in television, books, and movies. Before I do, I want to throw it out there and see what you ladies have to say. Especially, if you have a good one. I'd love to read some inspirational stories of good husbands or boyfriends. I'm not feeling very optimistic right now and I know there have to be other ladies who feel the same.
So I finally gathered my favorites from the recent Holiday Haulin' and took a few snapshots! Anyone else want to share? Starting off with nails. Hello there, ladies and gents! Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask: "What's on your plate?" The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween! For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet. Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water. For lunch today, I had: -Brown rice -Steamed egg -Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper -Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens) Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have?
I just wanted to introduce everyone to the wonderful world of Shopkicking! Sephora recently joined the group and now I'm earning kicks much more intently! I redeemed my first redemption reward from Sephora gift cards.
Trust me that it's soo easy, all you do is earn kicks for everyday shopping. Many retailers give walk in kicks. Just walk in and open the app and you get the kicks!
Give it a try. My son and I have turned it into a game it's so fun!
In fact, I just redeemed my first reward with Sephora gift cards for the GlamGlow 3 pc set online! I still have more Sephora gift cards and saving them for my next store trip. Hopefully, I'll have an additional 5 more!
If you have questions, please ask, as we should be able to reward ourselves for the products we've come to love, especially Sephora itself!
'Tis the season of engagements. That, plus kellsmuneoka's thread about Ridiculous Prices and IllegallyBlonde's Engagement Rings thread, made me start wondering about wedding dresses. If you're married, what was your dress like? If not, what is your dream dress? How much are you willing to spend? I'd love to hear your thoughts! Although I'm engaged, I haven't even started looking for a dress because we won't start planning the wedding until my fiance moves up here...but that should be happening soon! My research has now begun by watching marathons of Say Yes to the Dress lol. Anyway, rant and rave away!
YAY! May I present, another SUPER heart party for the thousanders who have contributed SO much here and haven't had their heart parties yet! Here's a fashionably late party for all you wonderful ladies. Congradulations to Titian06 for 1000+ hearts! I definitely remember seeing your helpful advice around but didn't realize you are not on my friends list yet but I'm adding you here now/anyways. Cheers for the first 1000 hearts! Congradulations to CrayzeeRN for 2000+ hearts! And for always bringing a little sprinkle of cheerfulness to all the posts you make. =D Congradulations to Drrragon for 3000+ hearts! And for the random chats about nerdy stuff. Always good to see a chic nerd around, and *high five* for becoming a fellow new meteorites owner. =P Congradulations to Nebel for 3000+ hearts! And for always being so cool/collected amidst heated discussions. Whenever I see your name I have an image of yoga and "Ommmm..." in my head despite the "exasperated" dog avatar. Congradulations to Dannyc for 4000+ hearts! My fellow skincare addict who started THE first traveling Sephora box on BT and started my mini-lipstick obsession by passing me the mini Bite rouge lippie. =O Cheers to many more helpful/fun posts to come! () () (^.^) ~Happy holidays! (v v)o
Since a few of us are on a "no-buy" it might be a good idea to "shop our stashes" again and encourage eachother to behave! Today I dug out my Too Faced "Fun in the Dark" palette for eyeshadow and blush and then also used two new swap items NARS lipstick "Tzigane" and UD shadow pencil "Rehab".
The holidays are my favorite time of the year, but not gonna lie, after attending the 6th party / dinner / white elephant gift swap in as many days, I start yearning for a Boscia Black Mask , my PJs and my DVR. I can't be alone in this.
So for this week's Challenge, I want to know: What do you do to de-stress? It doesn't have to be beauty related, but since this is BeautyTalk, I'd love to know what products, if any, you use to relax.
Show & Tell!

Presenting: My Top 13 products of 2013! These are either new products that were released this year or new-to-me products that I just discovered in the last 12 months.

Thought I would try my hand at questions this time. Here goes... 1. Do you celebrate Christmas or some other gift-giving holiday this time of year? 2. Have you purchased anything from Sephora to give as a gift? If so, what? 3. Share one good thing that's brightened your day today (it's OK to say nothing if you've had a particularly crappy day). 4. What's your favorite mascara? 5. What is your ideal career? 6. Do you have any siblings (half siblings count)? If so, do you get along with them? 7. Share one of your favorite holiday traditions (if you have any). Here are mine: 1. I celebrate Christmas. 2. Not so far... 3. A text conversation I just had with my mother in walkie talkie lingo, where we addressed each other as "[work name] slave." 4. Right now I'm digging Sephora's Full Action mascara but I can be swayed. 5. Recording artist (preferably with my band) 6. I have a sister that I mostly get along with, even though she's my polar opposite in almost every sense. 7. One of my favorite things to do is go for a walk with my entire family on Christmas night to a particular street where everyone owns a huge house and the Christmas lights/displays/décor is insane. One house is so completely covered in lights it's dizzying to look at. Ok, enough of me. Let's hear about you!
Wow. Who knew I would be so close before the ending of this year. I think it's mainly due to all the xmas gifts I bought from Sephora. I know everyone has been having mixed feelings about Rouge but I'm excited to reach this level because I enjoy shopping at Sephora so much. I think it's time for me to go out and buy the Naked 3! I'm just glad I didn't force myself to buy things I didn't need to finally reach Rouge. How did you feel when you hit Rouge? Or how far are you from it if you haven't hit it yet?
Hey Ladies, I just went into Nordstrom's yesterday and saw the most tacky and ugly pink sequined dress on the planet (in my opinion) and look at the price tag and it's $2,230. THAT'S RIDICULOUS IMO. I don't care who made it ,it was disgusting. Did anyone ever see a beauty product, clothing, etc where you had to hold back laughter and disgust because you could never imagine anyone buying it for that much if so, please tell me what it was and the price. xoxo, Kelly P.S I'm not trying to offend anyone who would buy something like that for that price, I just have a different style and budget.
Where you finally know what you want? (even if it's somewhat vague) I had one of those today. I know that I want: to go to school (i turned 26 in the fall but better late then never) a truck ( yeah, i'm 5"3 but whatever ) to fix my credit and get a credit card again to learn how to skate well to learn how to play the violin to stick to a healthy way of eating (so those extra pounds with come off) a new fashionable wardrobe (in a smaller size ^) and more make up What do you want? (It can be anything )
Off topic.. But I can't do my paper, my job keeps calling me with questions and distracting me like crazy (I took off to do this final today and it's getting nowhere...ugh) Show me your pretty rings, or your dream rings This one is my dream ring: ....Yeah, I want to marry that ring.
Check the product page for store availability starting 12/12. Just enter your zip code> http://seph.me/1iF8gRZ
We swatched Urban Decay's new Naked3(!!) palette to see how the colors looked on different skintones. What do you think?

Since we all had so much fun doing wedding themes I’ve decided to take the liberty in creating a board.
If you’re married, what was your wedding theme?
If you’re engaged what are you planning on doing for your wedding theme?
And if you’re still looking for the perfect significant other to go with your dream wedding theme what is it?
For me, I’ve always wanted something kind of whimsical. I LOVE the idea of renting out an old theatre for a classic old Hollywood-esque themed wedding or doing a carnival themed event haha.
For the old theatre theme I’d probably want to hang movie posters up featuring my SO and I. We could have a red carpet (don’t think I’d wanna do the whole cheesy paparazzi thing) though.
Most people look at me like I’m a nut when I tell them about that, but when I say ‘think Water for Elephants’ they quickly catch my drift.
For a carnival wedding I’d want fun foods like sliders, a French fry bar (with different dipping sauces like aioli, chipotle, etc), cotton candy martinis. I’d also want to hang upside down parasols around or do oversized paper lanterns.
How long did it take you to get your first subscribers? And how do you promote your blog to attract new subscribers? I just started my blog a week ago and I know it will take a long time to develop a following, but I am just curious about anyone else's experiences regarding beauty blogging. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated!
I just realized that, after two weeks of finals, numerous doctor visits, running errands, preparing for Christmas, my 6 year old never sleeping past 2a.m. and all my regular "wifely duties" I'm thoroughly exhausted! I think after accomplishing all this, I should treat myself to a visit to Sephora (when I go to the "big city" to see yet another doctor!) hmmmm....what shall I treat myself with??? And more importantly...what shall I treat my husband with for putting up with me through this????
-RESOLVED- So I have this car that WAS in prestine condition.....until I got into a car crash that renders it undrivable because the hit bent everything in one of the wheel area. The price of repair is half what I paid for the car (despite the fact it's only 20-30% damaged), and it's undrivable so I don't think I can sell it as it is now. So now, I'm not sure what to do with it. Anyone have any experience with broken/crashed car? ps. Sorry to be really really off-topic, but I'm not sure where to ask. T.T
Since pipsqueek1582 so graciously offered her free items to us and there were enough items to start a box, we are officially opening Traveling Sephora Box #9 - 2013! I offered to help set up this thread with the rules and list of participants just to make it easier for everyone. I am calling this box #9 because box 7 split into 2 different boxes. The rules are basically the same as previous boxes which I borrowed (cut and pasted) from previous threads. 1. Please, NO DRUGSTORE items! 2. To keep things moving as quickly as possible, I'm requesting that people with U.S. ADDRESSES ONLY participate in this box. (I'm sorry Canadian BTers! ) 3. Once the box comes back to pipsqueek1582, she will donate what is left to a worthy charity in her area. 4. If you do not see your name on this list from the previous thread, or would like to change your spot on the list, please post a request and send me a PM if you are able to swap with someone. 5. Please be aware that shipping costs may reach upwards of $17 if the TSB gets really full. Previous TSBs have used either the Priority Mail Flat Rate Medium or Large Box (comes out to $12.35 or $16.85 with tracking & shipping confirmation). If you are going to participate, please be prepared for the shipping costs! Here is how it works: Pipsqueek1582 will fill a box with products and send it through USPS to the next person on the list. They will go through the box, take what they want, add their own items in, then send it to the next person. What you need to do: 1. Send a Personal Message to the person before you on the list with your mailing address right away so there's no delay in shipping. 2. Start collecting, sanitizing, and labeling your beauty goodies. Please label swatched & sanitized on a plastic bag or with a removable sticker instead of using a marker on the product. 3. Read through the Rules below to know what is allowed & what is not allowed: Allowed: ☆ High-End products and items you got from subscription boxes ☆ All opened items must be labeled ("swatched", "opened", "tried/used"…) ☆ Fragrance if it's in a spray bottle (can be 1/2 used too) & must be wrapped ☆ Nail polish must be tightly closed & bubble wrapped/bagged/in a box ☆ Makeup as long as you've cleaned it with alcohol & it doesn't have big fingerprint marks/dents in it ☆ Mascara if it's sealed and/or has not been used ☆ Tools/Brushes/Cases/Bags as long as they are clean ☆ Anything that is sealed ☆ Skin care items in tubes & bottles Jars only allowed if it's sealed or unopened ☆ Items will be organized in bags by type. Make sure products are wrapped well so they won't leak or break & ruin everything else ☆ Keep non beauty related items to a minimum (please do not overload the box with makeup bags, cases, etc). ☆ every explodable/leakable item needs to be inside a plastic bag/ziplock Not Allowed: ☹ Pre-made samples ☹ Drugstore items ☹ No USED items with wands, such as lip glosses, mascara, or concealers ☹ Heavily used items (except for perfume) ☹ Anything that might be considered unsanitary ☹ Taking more than you put in. Keep the Value of items equal ☹ Swatching items in the box 4 Do not keep the box for more than 3 days. (USPS does home pickup, so no EXCUSES! ) If you are traveling or something comes up, please let us know ASAP so we can move you down on the list. 5. Package things carefully and put in ziplock bags. 6. TRADE on or ABOVE the value of what you took. 7. Please include a tracking number. It makes it more fun anticipating your turn. Please post it and also send me a PM. 8. Post in a picture and/or text what you took and left (picture AND written description preferred). 9. Have fun and try some things you haven't tried before! Please ask if you have anything that is questionable. ♥ No drama ♥ Be polite ♥ NO RESERVES (you may ask for people to TRY to include items. If it gets to you terriffic. If not, that's okay too) If you think there is a need for more rules, post a reply to this. *******The list is closed******** Here is the list of participants : Pipsqueek1582 (I'll start it ;-) mailed 12/17 1. suddenlyforever 2. wendyomgwar 3. srikandi 4. I am a book lover! I would rather read than do anything else! So just outta curiosity, What are you ladies (and gentleman) reading? What's your favorite genre? I just finished Blood Vivicani by Beckett And I am starting a reread of The song of Ice and Fire (the game of thrones series) My favorite genre by far is horror and Fantasy.
Hi there, I have two days left (they hold your spot for 72 hours) to subscribe for Birchbox, if I want to. The thing is, I don't know if I want to or not! I know it's just $10 a month, but is it worth it? A few months of Birchbox could, after all, buy me something I'm sure to like...so I'm torn. Any advice would be much appreciated, especially from those of you who subscribe or have in the past. Thanks! PS After reading some previous posts similar to mine, I'm leaning towards no...
