Hi ladies and gents, In keeping with the haul tradition, I thought I'd go ahead and start one for March! I can't WAIT to see all your fun and colorful goodies for the upcoming Spring season . This post is welcome to all, and as lilahtov said, a haul is a haul no matter how small .
Hello my beautiful people! I am here to wish a good friend, OKLady2013 a Happy 1,000 Hearts with a huge heart party!!! And this is her FIRST heart party as well!!! Happy heart party!!! I am so glad that we connected on BT and even more over PMs! She is a really sweet lady whom I am so glad to call a friend!
Hello my beautiful people! Am I the only one who is so obsessed with makeup and beauty that I have dreams about it? I hope not! I mean we are all really into makeup that we not only shop for it, we go on forums to talk about it as well! I am sure some of us have had makeup related dreams before! Last night I had the craziest dream about my beloved Dior Creme de Rose Lip Balm! It is just the prettiest packaging. Well apparently in my dream, not only was it pretty, but it was delicious as well! I was a bakery chef and I was baking the lip balm as little tarts in the oven and topping it with whip cream and strawberries and dusted it in 24 karat gold leaf paper as well!!! And I served the tarts it to guests who all loved it. What? Who would eat my lip balm??? And it must be a very expensive tart because that little sucker is $27 just for the Creme de Rose... Has anyone had weird dreams about makeup and beauty that they would like to share?
The lovely MYchoi was fabulous enough to offer to ship me some delicious treats from California to Pennsylvania. She knows I LOVE Asian food but have no Asian markets near my homestead. Here are some of the wonderful things she included: ^Large flat rate box JAM-PACKED with goodies! ^Seaweed. ^Melon flavored gummies (one of my favorites!) and melon flavored hard candies. ^Green tea, panda, and strawberry pocky. I busted into the green tea pocky IMMEDIATELY! ^Various crackers/biscuits/pies. ^Bae, various mochi, and green tea swiss rolls (another fave). ^Strawberry Calpico, aloe drink, and melon yogurt drink. Do any of you have any favorite Asian foods, or foods from your culture or other cultures that you love?
So with all the discussion about makeup confessions, hauls, and new TSBs, we know that we all have a serious hobby and addiction to beauty. But how do you store them in your home? Do you like how you've organized your makeup collection? Do you have the space for them? How about your space for prepping and putting on your makeup? What would you change, if you could? Honestly, with me... I've had to make a lot of compromises and make the best out of what I have to work with! I live in a very old home, over 200 years old. I love it to pieces and I wouldn't trade it for anything. BUT it kind of lacks some of the modern conveniences that newer homes have. I don't have many good storage solutions yet, my closet space is almost nonexistent, and I'm currently using an entire room with built-in shelves to display my shoe collection. I don't yet have a proper makeup vanity, and my full-sized bathroom is laid out very poorly and does not have good ventilation, so I don't like to store my makeup in there. Instead I have cleared out the drawers in my night stand and do my best to organize my makeup in there. When I go to put it on, I grab what I need and transfer it to my bathroom, where I apply my makeup -- luckily with tons of natural light! -- on tiptoe so I can peer into my too-high and too-small vanity mirror. I can't set makeup out on top of my mirrored dresser/vanity because I have a very bratty cat that likes to wake us up every morning by pushing things off of dressers and tables, and I have nightmares that I would wake up to a shattered Lingerie de Peau bottle on my wood floors. Let's just say that we fully intend to renovate that bathroom once we've set aside enough money for it, lol! In my fantasy land, I would have a well-lit vanity space with six large makeup drawers, a padded bench, and a makeup mirror. Heck, I'd have a whole bathroom just for preparing my makeup every day! More realistically, in the short term, I am going to buy Muji acrylic makeup drawers or similar makeup organizers and really keep things looking pretty in my drawers. I'd also like to buy some bathroom storage solutions (cheaper solutions, since we are saving for a renovation) to better organize my bathroom sink and vanity, and of course, I think a good makeup mirror is in my near future. How about all of you? Are you happy with how you manage your cosmetics? Any pictures or storage ideas to share, for people with limited space? I'm curious!
~*~*~*~*~ No Buy Thread for Feb/Mar 2014~*~*~*~*~ I n an attempt to be a conscious/responsible shopper instead of beauty product hoarder, I went on a no buy from mid-Dec to mid-Jan. Now that I've done my little shopping splurge, time to save up some money for tax and other boring needs. Therefore, I am now on a no-buy for the whole month of Feb and March . The goal for rest of the year is to spend just enough to qualify for VIB , and I'm going to try fund most of it through Swagbucks/Bing Rewards/Ebates (PM me if you want to know more about those sites). To keep myself accountable, I will tally up my total Sephora and beauty spending here as I go along. Yes, I'm airing out my dirty laundry. Anyone/everyone is welcome to join me. This is not meant to bash any particular products, but if you post then I'll give you reasons why you should delay the purchase, consider the alternative, or why you don't need it. I do not intend to judge or offend, so the disabler kitty will be helping me to keep the tone light: I will keep all my disabling to this thread, so please, ladies, let's not turn this into an enable thread . And I may need a little nudge from you ladies to help disable my own urges, too. =) Now then, will I succumb to exciting advertisements and fancy packaging? or will I hold onto my will power and succeed in actually saving some money?
Ok everyone is is introducing themselves witch I think is awesome, but I think I missed welcoming a few people since there are sevrals thread so I decided to make one thread! Old or new come introduce yourself! Tonight I'll post links to the other thread so they will be easy to find. I'll start I'm 24 beauty advisor/ pharmacy tech with a nail polish and eye shadow addiction! My other addictions are comic books(can you tell) power rangers and the big bang theory. My only request NO DRAMA if you don't like this thread don't post or comment ! I look forward to getting to know everyone! I have been on BT off and on for a while, but I never really said much on here. For the past two years or so I've mainly watched makeup videos on YouTube, and while they're fun to watch I had a hard time finding new products that worked for me. It was easier to learn techniques by watching the videos, but I was dissapointed in most of the makeup and skincare that I bought. So, I come here to BT and it's completely different! From hearing great reviews I have tried the Korres wild rose buff cleanser & sleeping facial, Nars eye primer, Marc Jacobs highliner, and Origins charcoal mask. They are all wonderful! My skin has not looked this good in years! I have had a great time on here the past few months and just wanted to say thank you! I hope BT stays like this for a long time!
Let's celebrate! Our fearless leader ( team SuperFlyGirls ), and wonderful BT buddy, the one and only - theSuperGirl, has 2000 hearts! Congrats, girl! You deserve them all, and then some! Thank you for all you do for your SuperFlyGirls! We <3 you!
Hello lovely ladies! I figured I'd get an early start on the hauls thread for February, as it seems that many of us just can't get enough of the Spring collections! Plus, I know that everyone here loves getting packages Oh, and who could forget that Valentine's Day is coming up...and Mother's Day! P lease feel free to share to share your hauls. A haul is a haul no matter how small!
I miss the BT I joined. I miss the fun threads as well as the ladies who made and posted in them. Not only do I miss them there but I miss them in other areas of BT where I know they would be giving awesome advice if they were there. I know people are backing off and straying a bit, but I am not ready to let it happen. So this is my effort. If KB would be so inclined I would love a photo of a llama riding Paula for a change.
I was thinking about the number of highlighters I have and then I wondered 'what's my total haul over time?' So I added everything up... 5 Foundations 15 Blushes 2 Concealers 3 Bronzers 9 Highlighters 2 Finishing powders 195 Eye shadows (15 singles, 113 in palettes, 57 in customizable palettes, and 10 pencil shadows) 60 eyeliners (51 liners, 3 double ended liners, 2 liquid and one rim liner) 2 Brow gels This is all active makeup - not stuff I've set aside for maybe trades, and does not include any backups. I forgot to count my lip stuff, I will have to do that later! What do you have?
What makeup is everyone wearing today? Today I am wearing: 1. Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation in Champagne 2. Benefit Coralista blush 3. TheBalm Mary-Loumanizer 4. Dior Creme de Rose Lipbalm 5. Dior Addict Lipstick in 454 6. Benefit Creaseless Cream shadow in RSVP and under all this I am wearing Neutrogena Pure and Free Liquid Sunblock SPF 50 So c'mon now...confess!
Since pipsqueek1582 so graciously offered her free items to us and there were enough items to start a box, we are officially opening Traveling Sephora Box #9 - 2013! I offered to help set up this thread with the rules and list of participants just to make it easier for everyone. I am calling this box #9 because box 7 split into 2 different boxes. The rules are basically the same as previous boxes which I borrowed (cut and pasted) from previous threads. 1. Please, NO DRUGSTORE items! 2. To keep things moving as quickly as possible, I'm requesting that people with U.S. ADDRESSES ONLY participate in this box. (I'm sorry Canadian BTers! ) 3. Once the box comes back to pipsqueek1582, she will donate what is left to a worthy charity in her area. 4. If you do not see your name on this list from the previous thread, or would like to change your spot on the list, please post a request and send me a PM if you are able to swap with someone. 5. Please be aware that shipping costs may reach upwards of $17 if the TSB gets really full. Previous TSBs have used either the Priority Mail Flat Rate Medium or Large Box (comes out to $12.35 or $16.85 with tracking & shipping confirmation). If you are going to participate, please be prepared for the shipping costs! Here is how it works: Pipsqueek1582 will fill a box with products and send it through USPS to the next person on the list. They will go through the box, take what they want, add their own items in, then send it to the next person. What you need to do: 1. Send a Personal Message to the person before you on the list with your mailing address right away so there's no delay in shipping. 2. Start collecting, sanitizing, and labeling your beauty goodies. Please label swatched & sanitized on a plastic bag or with a removable sticker instead of using a marker on the product. 3. Read through the Rules below to know what is allowed & what is not allowed: Allowed: ☆ High-End products and items you got from subscription boxes ☆ All opened items must be labeled ("swatched", "opened", "tried/used"…) ☆ Fragrance if it's in a spray bottle (can be 1/2 used too) & must be wrapped ☆ Nail polish must be tightly closed & bubble wrapped/bagged/in a box ☆ Makeup as long as you've cleaned it with alcohol & it doesn't have big fingerprint marks/dents in it ☆ Mascara if it's sealed and/or has not been used ☆ Tools/Brushes/Cases/Bags as long as they are clean ☆ Anything that is sealed ☆ Skin care items in tubes & bottles Jars only allowed if it's sealed or unopened ☆ Items will be organized in bags by type. Make sure products are wrapped well so they won't leak or break & ruin everything else ☆ Keep non beauty related items to a minimum (please do not overload the box with makeup bags, cases, etc). ☆ every explodable/leakable item needs to be inside a plastic bag/ziplock Not Allowed: ☹ Pre-made samples ☹ Drugstore items ☹ No USED items with wands, such as lip glosses, mascara, or concealers ☹ Heavily used items (except for perfume) ☹ Anything that might be considered unsanitary ☹ Taking more than you put in. Keep the Value of items equal ☹ Swatching items in the box 4 Do not keep the box for more than 3 days. (USPS does home pickup, so no EXCUSES! ) If you are traveling or something comes up, please let us know ASAP so we can move you down on the list. 5. Package things carefully and put in ziplock bags. 6. TRADE on or ABOVE the value of what you took. 7. Please include a tracking number. It makes it more fun anticipating your turn. Please post it and also send me a PM. 8. Post in a picture and/or text what you took and left (picture AND written description preferred). 9. Have fun and try some things you haven't tried before! Please ask if you have anything that is questionable. ♥ No drama ♥ Be polite ♥ NO RESERVES (you may ask for people to TRY to include items. If it gets to you terriffic. If not, that's okay too) If you think there is a need for more rules, post a reply to this. *******The list is closed******** Here is the list of participants : Pipsqueek1582 (I'll start it ;-) sent 12/17 1. suddenlyforever - arrived 12/21, sent 12/23 2. wendyomgwar - arrived 12/24, sent 1/4 3. Exactly what the title says I know we've chatted about this before, but I thought I'd revive the topic with a new thread. With Chic Week coming up and new collections/products/lines dropping what feels like every day, what brands (collections, too, since Sephora's offering can be limited at the brand's discretion) do you wish you saw on shelves? For me, it would be Chanel, Tom Ford, and YSL's Spring collection. Chanel's Illusion d'Ombres (cream shadows) and Glossimers (lip glosses) are calling to me with their siren song, as are Tom Ford's lippies, quads and contour palettes (however exorbitantly priced!!!). I love YSL lippies, so I wish the new colors got some love here at Sephora. Oh, and while we're on the subject, ByTerry and Chantecaille wouldn't hurt, either! I adore both, and don't own nearly enough of either!
Come and let everyone know if you've done a trade with someone or they've been an awesome TSB contributor! Let's give kudos to our BT BFFs! So a post could be one persons feedback on another, how a trade went, did they ship quickly, etc. and others could reply if they dealt with the same person and how their trade went.
So I'd like to maintain a board for the Canadian customers. A place where we can share our events, promos, problems etc. I sometimes see deals and info for Canadians and rather then posting a new convo all the time maybe we can just share on this board. I think it would be easier to communicate with each other if we only had one board to follow. - I recently posted that Nail Polish Canada has free shipping on any orders for a limited time. EDITED: Anyone interested in getting Tonymoly products you can contact them via their Canadian Facebook page to place an order. 5$ shipping, free over purchases 50$. I think they have a store in Pacific Mall in Markham ON Tarte now ships to Canada!
It's that time again! So February was better than January but what will March bring? Big congratulations to the following BT members who have joined ipsy they are Spacesuit Highly doubtful that we would get a sneak peek today but should have one starting Monday! 1st sneak peak Confirmed bareminerals marvelous movie lip gloss and Bareminerals marvelous moxie lipstick 2nd sneak peek Confirmed Nyx eyeshadow trio Be a bombshell eyeshadow quad 3rd sneak peek Confirmed Chelsea eyeliner Nicole by opi nail polish Missha m perfect cover bb cream 4th sneak peek Confirmed
So I go through phases with different culture and now I'm on a Korean phase, Korean music, Korean TV show, Korean skincare, and Korean food. I saw ppl eating Bindaetteok on a show and really really want to make it. Does anyone have a good recipe for that? Also, does anyone have any good recipe for any Korean food aside from Kimchi fried rice (the one dish I made/liked so far).
yesterday the tragic new struck that malayasia airlines flight from Kuala Lumpaar to bejjing, china had absolutely disappeared off the radar and has not been seen or heard of. this absolutely kills me. I cant imagine the terror or distress these family's feel, all they want to know is if their loved ones are safe, or moved on with god. all I've heard today is "they are gone, its impossible otherwise" I keep believing they are going to be okay but my parents doubt is killing the hope inside me. you cant give up hope, no matter what.pray everyone please just do this please just pray for these people to be safe. there were 239 people on board including infants, im just hoping that they made an emergency landing in the water and they are on a little raft all together and comfortable. Whenever I travel I get on that plane knowing that everyone telling me "its impossible, for it to crash" "highly unlikely" I cant even believe that this plane has gone down We need to have hope and faith and god needs to know this is not there time to come with him, please let these people go and live on this earth until it is time for them to leave, they don't deserve to leave like this. please everyone pray. if it comes to be that this tragedy has become real please just pray that it was quick and there was no fear in their minds.
TRADE THREAD #3 Overall trades have gone very well and many cosmetic items have found themselves new homes! However, there have been some trades that have not gone as well, so this trade post has been revised – please read it carefully! GUIDELINES Listing Your Items Please list what you have available, the condition, add a photo (if you have a lot, consider posting them under "spoiler" - the little face icon with a hand over its eyes - so tons of images don't flood the page for people scrolling) , and what you are interested in for trade. You may wish to list your location, such as the U.S. When something you have to offer is no longer available, please go back and edit your post to keep the listings more accurate! Because a number of fake items have been sent in trades, it is strongly advised you provide photos of your higher-end items, including the labeling (you may be asked for it anyway) and list WHERE you purchased the item from. Fakes are readily available from less reputable sellers and can contain toxins! It is important to everyone to know where their cosmetics come from. Acquiring Items Please use discretion with whom you enter into trades with. There is a summarized list of trusted traders here: http://community.sephora.com/t5/Off-Topic/LIST-of- the-Successful-Traders-or-TB/td-p/1071289 Protect yourself in your trades, ask questions (such as where an item was purchased), ask for additional photos (to show level of usage and/or labeling to prove authenticity). If you don’t feel 100% comfortable doing a trade because someone is new, you can request they send their items first. Communication Please consider using the Private Messages system on Beauty Talk to help ensure someone knows you are trying to contact them. You can set up to receive an email when you get a PM in your preferences. You can also access your messages by looking under your profile on the left side of the main Beauty Talk page under your avatar and clicking on the envelope. Communication is key! Even if there is a mail delay to the giant blizzard or ice storm of 2014, not being able to get in touch with the person you are trading with is very frustrating! If you are on either side of a trade, please make sure you are able to stay in touch with the other person through the end of the trade. If you will be unable to communicate for a period of time, try to let them know that. Delivery Having tracking and insurance on shipments goes a long way to figuring out where an item might be. The USPS even puts anticipated delivery dates and the tracking numbers right on the receipts now! SUCCESSFUL TRADE EXPERIENCES? Consider providing your feedback on successful trades on this thread here: http://community.sephora.com/t5/Off-Topic/Successf ul-Trades-or-TSB-Experiences/td-p/1012387 Please also see the previous trade thread: http://community.sephora.com/t5/Off-Topic/Product- Trade-Thread-01-2014-TWO/m-p/1021537 Happy trading!
It pains me to say that here in the midwest it looks like we'll be stuck in the snow (or at least the howling cold winds) for a bit longer than expected. Is anyone else suffering these hard times?? What has everyone been doing to keep their hair/makeup routines fresh and spring-like? Anything goes, I'm desperate to beat these wintery nightmares!
I got my Nordstrom card online and I couldn't resist using it right away on makeup. I've heard a lot of people rave about Nordstrom's and how much better they are than Sephora but I need details! So far, they have the standard 3 free samples that don't look any different than Sephora's but their rewards program is a bit on the high side. I think they said 2000 points puts you on the lower level. But anyway, I bought a whole bunch of Burberry lipsticks and eye shadow palette as well as my standard 5 million Nars products that I've never purchased before because I didn't think the colors were right but Nordstrom's color charts seem to be better than Sephora's. More true to color but I may be wrong. I even picked up a MAC lippie.. But I've never tried Burberry before so I wanted to get the opinion of those who use it. I picked up 3 of the Velvet Matte lipsticks and the Soft Satin lippie. I also picked up the Beauty Complete Eye Palette. While it is expensive, is it worth it? And I was eyeing some Tom Ford's. How is that?
I've been on the Ipsy waiting list, but still look at the thread. I thought we could have a shared thread from all the subscription boxes (including non-beauty ones likes underpants and lifestyle such as Wantable and POPSugar). That way we can live vicariously through each others goodies! (I know there are unboxing videos on YouTube, but I do not have the patience to sit through a five minute video about someone apologizing for the state of their hair. And I know there are blogs where I can see photos, but everyone usually gets different items in their boxes)
