Ok so I've been wanting to make this thread for a while. I've also been wanting to start a "random thoughts" thread...but I figured I'd separate the categories so that at least the "beauty" one is on the front page, rather than hidden in off topic. So, have a beauty-related thought but don't think it's worth starting a thread about ? Post it here ! today I got a facial at an extraordinarily nice spa. A real treat. And the results were immediate and truly great. But guys: she pulled out a clarisonic and a foamy cleanser for that first initial cleanse, and I nearly had a heart attack. Great for a lot of people but most of you know how I feel about those things !!!!!! Overall, as I said, it was great and my skin is happy. But sheesh.
Welcome back to the deal sharing fun! Deals shared here may also be posted to my blog (same name as the thread) unless you write for BT only. If I share your deal, I will always thank you here. I will heart every deal I see without an outside link to acknowledge it. A heart with no comment means I already have the deal or am deciding not to list it. Thanks for sharing. Don't forget to list the retailer, so everyone knows where to get your deal. Done Sharing! Now, use these deals and haul! My favorite hauls are always from the deals we all share. If you find something full priced that is new and awesome, share it here. http://community.sephora.com/t5/Sephora-com/Autumn -Winter-2015-Found-in-the-Wild-quot-New-quot/m-p/2 ...
What are your beauty pet peeves? Here are a few of mine When there's a huge hype around an item/brand or your own hype to get something and you get it and you are just meh. I recently got a few items that were taking FOREVER to get to my house. Canada Post was sooo slow at processing... the items were stuck with them and the tracking wasn't moving at all. I was so excited and couldn't wait for them to be delivered and finally the items just showed up (tracking not updated) and I was like meh... not too impressed with what I got. I thought I'd love it but no... not really. Swatched and sitting in a drawer somewhere... awww that just kills me lol Another one (and this is for the Canadian girls). When you see free shipping on your favorite beauty products and then notice below in very small font US ONLY. ugh So what grinds your gears? Share your stories!!!
Hey, I am excited to start a thread on July hauls. Please excuse me for starting this early! I promise I have a good excuse, it's my birthday tomorrow! The first of JULY! And I have never started a Haul thread. Figured it might be an excuse
Folks, it's (almost) that time of the year-- the one and only Nordstrom Anniversary sale! I received the mailer today, and wanted to share the beauty items that they are going to have on sale. There will be many more beauty items on sale, not to mention a gazillion GWPs, in addition to what they let us peek through the mailer. Any insider tips on what else will be on sale and the GWP? What's on your wishlist?
Ok, forgive me, I know it is only June! Is anyone else already thinking of wonderful things to come? I have visions of Limited editions, special sets and palettes dancing in my head! I can't wait to see what gift sets, gifts with purchase, and Sephora Favorites are coming our way! Black Friday deals and specials that we can't wait to get our hands on!! Lets share some of our favorites from the past and wishes for the future, and them post pics as we get closer and start finding out what we have to get for the holidays!
trying new products can be...overwhelming. do you love a product because it works ? can you tell right away if it's performing the way you want it to ? sometimes i'm so happy to finally try something and let my enthusiasm blind my actual impression of it (at least at first ) it takes time to come to proper conclusions ! particularly when it comes to skincare, but makeup too. so here's a thread where we can discuss our experiences while trying a product for a first time. it can also be a place that people can reference if they're considering a new product. right now i'm trying a sample of the REN v-cense night cream. i've only used it for 2 nights so far, but i LOVE IT. i love it so much i'm tempted to go ahead and grab it up, but i need to make sure it doesn't break me out over time (it contains shea butter which *can* be a breakout trigger for me, but not necessarily). it smells of frankincense which i adore, but i know for some people would be a turn off. i'm also checking out the VICHY aqualia thermal serum. i really love the CAUDALIE vinosource s.o.s. thirst quenching serum, and prefer the texture of it to the VICHY, but think the caudalie may break me out slightly (i also was probably overusing it...i was very enthusiastic). so i'm just trying to figure out which i prefer. how about you ? __________ post trial edit about the products above: i had to skip on the REN because the shea butter in it was too heavy for my skin. and i suppose buying something simply for the smell isn't the best use of my moola the VICHY aqualia thermal serum, however, is in my permanent arsenal. i've already repurchased once since starting this thread, and have turned a few people on to it too !
I know there are several older threads for this already but I think its time to start a fresh one. So come on ladies...I hope you will all post your new vanity pictures with me! I just finished a DIY Vanity project I've been working on for a while now and I'm super excited to share with all of you. Here is a general view first...I got the table for free. My parents recently bought a new hallway table and I was happy to take their old one. The wall mirror is a vintage item I inherited. I place closet lights around it to make it bright enough for makeup application. The picture in the background is one of my favorites...I loved it so much I bought it despite it being a print; its one of the few non-original art pieces in my house. Spoiler (Highlight to read) I bought a second large organizer for my foundations and skincare items. I used coffee beans to keep the cosmetic brushes neat and some mason drinking jars for my hairbrushes. Spoiler (Highlight to read) This glass lizard was handmade by a local artist...I think he looks right at home here Spoiler (Highlight to read) This is my other large organizer I already owned, just reorganized. Spoiler (Highlight to read) I put my Z Palettes in a generic folder/mail holder. The slots are the perfect size for them. The little figurines are my "Willow Tree" collection. Spoiler (Highlight to read) Underneath, I have room to store my nail polish organizer on top of my reserves. Spoiler (Highlight to read) I also have a couple baskets for hair styling tools and my samples I set aside for my TSB. I also have a couple baskets for hair styling tools and my samples I set aside for my TSB. And there you have it! It feels so good to finally have a corner of the house completely dedicated to my lovelies!
So, I am not a summer person, I hate the heat and sweating the minute I step outside. I am an indoor kind of gal in the Summer! I never would have survived before air conditioning! LOL. Anyway, there are so many things that I love about the Fall. Care to share what you love? For me, I would say the thing I like the most is just the crisp Autumn weather, where you can cozy up in a sweater or jacket and walk around without all the humidity. Plus, Halloween is my favorite holiday and my wedding anniversary is in October as well.

Before I say anything- this post is going to be totally off topic and not about makeup at all! I thought it would be nice to express our love for our pets, and maybe even pictures, too! To start off, I used to be a dog person-- years ago.... But my whole perspective changed when a completely mellow nourished(not exaggerating!) female cat wandered in our backyard, hungry and hot. (This was in the summer of 2012) I still remember the poor kitty that was shaking as she ate a can of tuna and a bowl of milk because she was so hungry... Did I forget to mention that she was also a pregnant cat? Without a doubt I grew to love that cat, and I never thought in a million years that I would now be a cat person! But it doesn't stop there... We took that stray cat in, (after vet check up-shots- etc) and named her Olive. (People always ask me why we named her that- but she has these big beautiful eyes that look almost like olives!) About a month later she had kittens-- 7 to be exact.. Unfortunately one of them was a runt and wasn't even fully developed- and after many attempts to feed it by hand, and through many tears, and a few days- the kitten died. The rest of the 6 kittens were so stinkin' adorable and one of the best experiences I've ever had to take care of as far as animals are concerned! They were so cute- it was so amazing to see them grow and change and learn new things.. We named them all too, even though we didn't attempt to keep all of them! (We as in my family- I still live at home with my parents and siblings) Samuel, (male) Marty,(male), Charlie (male), Titus(male) Gracie(female), and Mabel(female.) After weeks of deciding which kittens to keep we final decided on Titus and Mabel. When the kittens were old enough to be separated from their mother, we found a great little shelter for the rest of them until they could be adopted to hopefully good homes. After a couple of months Mabel began to ruin our house by clawing everything-- sadly we have to give her away as well, but later on we decided to get Olive(mom) and Titus(male kitten) declawed.. (We hadnt thought of declawing Mabel at that time so it wasn't an option!) Of course I know many people don't agree with declawing of animals- but if they're indoor cat like ours- and if you get it done when they are still kittens(like Titus was) then they should be fine... And yes- our cats turned out completely fine, after about a month of healing. Anyway, Olive and Titus it was; both beautiful tiger calico cats... That's not the end of the story though. Last year we actually had 2 strays- one I will not bother telling the story of because he was suffering from terrible accidents outdoors that led him to being put down- and the other one I will quickly explain. Once again, mellow nourished, black & white tuxedo cat, a stray, wanders into our backyard, a sweet little thing. (GOSH his face is the cutest thing ever!) So lets just say that my family and I live with three cats now... Olive, Titus, and Mittens. (Mittens is such a common name for a cat with four white paws!) I love them all so so much, and they each are truly different and I love seeing each of their personalities! I have to admit that Titus is the SWEETEST cat in the entire world--- and I have to say that it is most likely because he was born in our home. He is so cute- he still meows like a kitten- and is totally overweight. (yes, my boo is on a diet- as the rest of them are, LOL!) SO- after I just blabbed my big mouth for half an hour- I want to hear YOUR story of your pets-whatever your pet may be. (And I do still like dogs- but I'm totally a crazy cat lady now!) Please feel free to share your story as well, whatever it might be- whatever means the most to you about your pet- whatever seems special to you--- I hope this post wasn't too boring, lol, and that you do enjoy it! XOXOXO PS. And as I write this post Titus is sleeping next to me. <3

I've been on the Ipsy waiting list, but still look at the thread. I thought we could have a shared thread from all the subscription boxes (including non-beauty ones likes underpants and lifestyle such as Wantable and POPSugar). That way we can live vicariously through each others goodies! (I know there are unboxing videos on YouTube, but I do not have the patience to sit through a five minute video about someone apologizing for the state of their hair. And I know there are blogs where I can see photos, but everyone usually gets different items in their boxes)
Hello there, ladies and gents! Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask: "What's on your plate?" The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween! For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet. Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water. For lunch today, I had: -Brown rice -Steamed egg -Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper -Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens) Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have?
Time for another game! It's been too long since our last one. I've wondered how BT decides which 9 people (one is always myself) to show me are online at the moment. I thought it would be fun (we all know the fun is in off topic) to show who our 9 are when we happen upon this post. Of 19,091 users logged in, BT is showing me the following. I think I know all of them, so that's neat. I did not look them up (should have), but I see sister13, Blushhoarder, Bea0t, Loving London, Sddenm, kso1225, rjmalt, zpsid91 (did look at hers since it is a general avatar), and eaidlade. Who do you see? The more people who play along, the neater it will be to see how long it takes to see yourself again. Does anyone see me or any of the ladies in my list? How many do you recognize? Does BT actually pick people you may know or is it completely random? MK89 is still in the lead with 9! we still have a week left in the month, but i need a distraction and figured now is as good of time as any ! plus i have so many things i want to talk about !! KATE SOMERVILLE goat's milk moisturizer. i purchased this at the end of last month, and am absolutely loving it. it's keeping my skin very hydrated, and i think it's helping with clogged pores i tend to get on my chin (hormonal). i have only ever used this at night, never in the morning / under makeup so i can't really speak for that. the price is hefty for me but i'm so glad i pulled the trigger on this one, and would definitely recommend to anyone. MAC kohl liner, teddy . this slightly warm brown pencil will never leave my collection again. gives a soft definition, but not too soft ! just adore.... NARS blush, mata hari . this has been on my wish list for ages and it is glorious. i'm still learning to be more confident with blush, but considering that--i've pulled this out 5 times in the 10 days since i've owned it. that's saying something ! NARS audacious lipstick, brigitte . she is a slow burn--i didn't know i wanted her until i had her. absolutely perfect not-too-pink nude, leans just slightly warm/peach so it helps warm up my complexion. (special shout out to RITA and INGRID and NATALIE who have also entered my collection this month) ANASTASIA BEV HILLS brow wiz, granite. i'm contrarian by nature and avoided the brand. but i needed a new brow product, discovered the shade granite (which is PERFECT) and the rest is history. AVEDA be curly curl enhancing cream . as lots of you have so sweetly recognized, july has marked the return of my curly hair after years (a decade, really, with rare exception) of being styled straight for short 'dos. this was the curl enhancing cream i used a decade ago, and it's still around (at the time curl CREAMS were still quite rare, where curly hair products were dominated by crunchy gels and mousses). this won't hold a curl--you need a different product for that--but it helps nourish, condition and define the curls you got. in other words, it gives your curls order in an otherwise chaotic world. p.s.: JAUNTY JAUNTY JAUNTY !
I'll admit it, I rarely buy a new product that we sell without attempting to convince someone in the office to give it to me to try first (What? I'm frugal!), but I was so intrigued by everything I was hearing about new haircare line Briogeo that I snapped up a couple of their products as soon as they came back in stock on the site. So I was really excited to sit down with Briogeo founder Nancy Twine (who is SUPER SWEET and cool, btw), to find out more about this awesome little brand.
What is the inspiration behind the brand?
Briogeo was inspired by my own family history of making homemade products in the kitchen of our home. It first started when my grandmother was swayed to create her own products out of necessity to provide for the large family she raised on her farm. From there, my mother learned the craft. She held onto my grandmother's ingredient journal, and when I was growing up she and I would make a wide assortment of homemade products ranging from soaps to hair care products using my grandmother's formulas as the base. My family history of making natural products at home and my passion for entrepreneurism are what motivated my desire to create Briogeo .
Talk a little about your sustainable packaging and ingredient methodology.
We've coined a concept called "6-Free" haircare, meaning, ALL of our products are free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, silicones, synthetic fragrance, and artificial colors. Briogeo 's mantra is: when it doubt, leave it out. We pride ourselves in creating pure, potent, and non-toxic products that are specifically formulated to give you the results you want and deserve. Every formula is fortified with potent blends of natural oils, vitamins, antioxidants, and fruit & plant extracts for super healthy and vibrant hair.
We're sticklers for green packaging, too! All of our shampoo and conditioner bottles are manufactured right here in the USA. We use recycled, plastic milk jugs to make our bottles, which are also recyclable. So we've essentially created a two-way chain of recycling where we incorporate recycled materials into our packaging that can then be recycled again and again.
Does your line work on all hair types?
We created Briogeo to carry out a mission of "Hair Care for All" - meaning, our product line caters to a diverse array of hair textures and types. Because I come from a diverse background, I wanted to create an all-inclusive line that people with different hair types could identify with. Our line is solutions oriented and focuses on three hair care segments: curly/texture, volume, and repair. We've done extensive research into the concerns of each of these hair categories and have focused all of our product formulations on addressing the specific needs of each one - using the finest concoctions of natural, performance based ingredients. So whether your hair is coarse & unruly, thin & brittle, or dry & damaged - the Briogeo assortment contains texture-specific products to match your specific hair needs.
What are your top product picks for:
Controlling Frizz: Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray , this stuff is the best!
Adding volume and shine to limp hair: Blossom & Bloom Ginseng + Biotin Volumizing Blow Dry Spray . I spritz this on my roots before blow drying.
Adding moisture and shine to dry and damaged hair: Don't Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask . I use this to deep condition my hair every other week.
What advice do you have for beauty entrepreneurs interested in starting their own product line?
I would encourage beauty entrepreneurs to take the time and do the research necessary to understand the market inside and out. That includes knowing your competitors, customers, and ways you plan to differentiate your brand amongst the current assortment. I see a lot of startups rush into production before taking these crucial steps and it often creates early setbacks that could have been avoided. I also encourage seeking out mentors within the industry as a way to gain meaningful advice and potential connections. There's a lot to be gained from the experience and lessons learned by others!
Lately I have been going over my purchases and I noticed a tiny trend - I am obsessed with some things more than others. So what are your 5 things/products that you are obsessed with lately (it could be anything - from food to clothing to makeup, etc)? Mine are: - Skin care (Algenist, face masks, and serums) - Purses (bought 4 purses in one year, and continuing to look .. smh) - Starbucks (holiday drinks) - NARS creamy concealer - Bite Beauty
One of our favourite BTErs has reached a crazy awesome milestone in her BT life! This girl is one the most most awesome and genuine women! I love her sense of humour, her personality in general and of course her long gorgeous eyelashes that are the envy of pretty much everyone in existence! Not to mention that even on her most tired and worstest of days she still manages to get out there on the boards and rock her awesome self like nobody else! Let's celebrate!!!!! Tequila anyone? Shhhhhhhhhhhh, it's alright, just shoot it back!!!
So I have been talking to so many fellow BT ladies lately. And all have been amazing. In my conversations the topic of where everyone is from came up, and swapping care packages with your regional goodies. Is this something anyone else would be interested in doing? Kinda like the awesome maple Canada candies lol and me being from Louisiana, well, we have our own breed of everything down here!
Ok so I got my nose peirced at the end of december and I need some advice. I still have the same stud in and I clean it regularly, etc.. but it keeps popping out when I'm sleeping or when I'm washing face and stuff. When this happens it gets one of those keloid-type bumps around it. It's so ugly and annoying. The only way to get rid of it is to use sea salt and hot water. I'm having to do this waaaay too often. Is the piercing just too big for my nose? I'm scared to take it out and change it cause it kinda hurts when it comes out a bit.
I searched around and saw storage but not many vanities. I just got my vanity in today, I'm probably going to get a chest to store everything else, because these drawers are small! They also don't open all the way. This is my set up for now. Whats your set up like?
So I'd like to maintain a board for the Canadian customers. A place where we can share our events, promos, problems etc. I sometimes see deals and info for Canadians and rather then posting a new convo all the time maybe we can just share on this board. I think it would be easier to communicate with each other if we only had one board to follow. ETA: Where to shop! So I do have a list/link somewhere with brands and where they are found. I'll try and dig it out and if you want it pm me For those who don't know... Shoppers Drug Mart and Murale have a wonderful loyalty program and your points are worth "cash" in store. The Bay is bringing in more brands... just recently Burberry. I'm thinking we will see more good things come. They also have a VIP program... I am not too sure how it all works but it applies to all purchases from the store and you get a 20$ off 100$ makeup purchase coupon almost every month... Like who wouldn't want that! Hello MAC! Beautylish ships to Canada and they are FAST! Order processed and shipped within the hour and arrives the next day! Now that we have Nordies in Canada you might be able to call a counter and get items shipped to you. Some things you can get shipped from the site. Apparently Saks is coming. I believe The Bay is the one who will be owning them and bring them in. If you get a good SA at Holts you can also get stuff shipped to you. Sorry been MIA from this board a long time.
