So, I'm about to throw in the towel and accept the fact that there are only good men in television, books, and movies. Before I do, I want to throw it out there and see what you ladies have to say. Especially, if you have a good one. I'd love to read some inspirational stories of good husbands or boyfriends. I'm not feeling very optimistic right now and I know there have to be other ladies who feel the same.
'Tis the season of engagements. That, plus kellsmuneoka's thread about Ridiculous Prices and IllegallyBlonde's Engagement Rings thread, made me start wondering about wedding dresses. If you're married, what was your dress like? If not, what is your dream dress? How much are you willing to spend? I'd love to hear your thoughts! Although I'm engaged, I haven't even started looking for a dress because we won't start planning the wedding until my fiance moves up here...but that should be happening soon! My research has now begun by watching marathons of Say Yes to the Dress lol. Anyway, rant and rave away!
YAY! May I present, another SUPER heart party for the thousanders who have contributed SO much here and haven't had their heart parties yet! Here's a fashionably late party for all you wonderful ladies. Congradulations to Titian06 for 1000+ hearts! I definitely remember seeing your helpful advice around but didn't realize you are not on my friends list yet but I'm adding you here now/anyways. Cheers for the first 1000 hearts! Congradulations to CrayzeeRN for 2000+ hearts! And for always bringing a little sprinkle of cheerfulness to all the posts you make. =D Congradulations to Drrragon for 3000+ hearts! And for the random chats about nerdy stuff. Always good to see a chic nerd around, and *high five* for becoming a fellow new meteorites owner. =P Congradulations to Nebel for 3000+ hearts! And for always being so cool/collected amidst heated discussions. Whenever I see your name I have an image of yoga and "Ommmm..." in my head despite the "exasperated" dog avatar. Congradulations to Dannyc for 4000+ hearts! My fellow skincare addict who started THE first traveling Sephora box on BT and started my mini-lipstick obsession by passing me the mini Bite rouge lippie. =O Cheers to many more helpful/fun posts to come! () () (^.^) ~Happy holidays! (v v)o
Thought I would try my hand at questions this time. Here goes... 1. Do you celebrate Christmas or some other gift-giving holiday this time of year? 2. Have you purchased anything from Sephora to give as a gift? If so, what? 3. Share one good thing that's brightened your day today (it's OK to say nothing if you've had a particularly crappy day). 4. What's your favorite mascara? 5. What is your ideal career? 6. Do you have any siblings (half siblings count)? If so, do you get along with them? 7. Share one of your favorite holiday traditions (if you have any). Here are mine: 1. I celebrate Christmas. 2. Not so far... 3. A text conversation I just had with my mother in walkie talkie lingo, where we addressed each other as "[work name] slave." 4. Right now I'm digging Sephora's Full Action mascara but I can be swayed. 5. Recording artist (preferably with my band) 6. I have a sister that I mostly get along with, even though she's my polar opposite in almost every sense. 7. One of my favorite things to do is go for a walk with my entire family on Christmas night to a particular street where everyone owns a huge house and the Christmas lights/displays/décor is insane. One house is so completely covered in lights it's dizzying to look at. Ok, enough of me. Let's hear about you!
Off topic.. But I can't do my paper, my job keeps calling me with questions and distracting me like crazy (I took off to do this final today and it's getting nowhere...ugh) Show me your pretty rings, or your dream rings This one is my dream ring: ....Yeah, I want to marry that ring.
Howdy ladies! After all the good deals this yr I've completely exhausted my spending and any reason to buy anything. I will be on a no buy until mid-Jan (if Jan really is skincare month then that means I've still got 15 days after that for whatever promo, no excuse!) My Christmas/New Year resolution is to spend just enough to qualify for VIB for the rest of the year , and I'm going to try fund most of it through Swagbucks/Bing Rewards/Ebates (PM me if you want to know more about those sites). With that said, this is a no buy thread for the first 30 days, a palate cleanser if you will, for next year. Anyone/everyone is welcome to join me. This is not meant to bash any particular products, but if you post then I'll give you reasons why you should delay the purchase, consider the alternative, or why you don't need it. I will keep all my disabling to this thread, so please, ladies, let's not turn this into an enable thread . =P Now then, will I succumb to exciting advertisements and fancy packaging? or will I hold onto my will power and succeed in actually saving some money?
I purchased the Benefit Advent Calendar through Sephora and as some of you know, I ended up receiving the wrong product on day 1 of the calendar (should've got a coralista blush and instead got the a-lister gloss). I spoke with a customer service representative from Sephora and they suggested I speak with Benefit since it was clearly an issue during the processing phase at Benefit. For the record, Sephora offered me a refund but since they were sold out of the calendars that was my only option and I really did want to keep the calendar. So I contacted Benefit. They immediately tried to pass the buck off to Sephora and say that it was their problem. So off I go again talking to Sephora. The customer service representative from Sephora was wonderful! She contacted Benefit on my behalf and offered them proof of purchase for me in hopes that they would be able to assist me. Back to Benefit once again, I spoke directly with a manager. I told him that I didn't want money, or a brand new calendar, or to make out like a bandit. I just wanted the coralista blush sample that they manufacture and that I should've got in my set to begin with.I had already e-mailed them a picture of my missing item and the item I got in it's place (on the day I should've got the a-lister gloss, the door was empty). I then gave the manager my order number from Sephora (to again, prove I purchased this legitimately) and I mentioned the Sephora representative who contacted them on my behalf. Again, Benefit claimed there was nothing that they can do. I told him that they obviously don't stand behind their product as there was a mistake on their end and they weren't even willing to make it right (I even offered to pay shipping for them to send me the itty-bitty blush)! So because they were unwilling to remedy this situation and wanted to hold on to a blush that cost them a miniscule amount to make, they will lose out on much more since I will no longer be a Benefit shopper. Sorry for the long rant, but bad customer service is something I can't stand and think people should know about.
Since we all had so much fun doing wedding themes I’ve decided to take the liberty in creating a board.
If you’re married, what was your wedding theme?
If you’re engaged what are you planning on doing for your wedding theme?
And if you’re still looking for the perfect significant other to go with your dream wedding theme what is it?
For me, I’ve always wanted something kind of whimsical. I LOVE the idea of renting out an old theatre for a classic old Hollywood-esque themed wedding or doing a carnival themed event haha.
For the old theatre theme I’d probably want to hang movie posters up featuring my SO and I. We could have a red carpet (don’t think I’d wanna do the whole cheesy paparazzi thing) though.
Most people look at me like I’m a nut when I tell them about that, but when I say ‘think Water for Elephants’ they quickly catch my drift.
For a carnival wedding I’d want fun foods like sliders, a French fry bar (with different dipping sauces like aioli, chipotle, etc), cotton candy martinis. I’d also want to hang upside down parasols around or do oversized paper lanterns.
Hi there, I have two days left (they hold your spot for 72 hours) to subscribe for Birchbox, if I want to. The thing is, I don't know if I want to or not! I know it's just $10 a month, but is it worth it? A few months of Birchbox could, after all, buy me something I'm sure to like...so I'm torn. Any advice would be much appreciated, especially from those of you who subscribe or have in the past. Thanks! PS After reading some previous posts similar to mine, I'm leaning towards no...

Hey Ladies, I just went into Nordstrom's yesterday and saw the most tacky and ugly pink sequined dress on the planet (in my opinion) and look at the price tag and it's $2,230. THAT'S RIDICULOUS IMO. I don't care who made it ,it was disgusting. Did anyone ever see a beauty product, clothing, etc where you had to hold back laughter and disgust because you could never imagine anyone buying it for that much if so, please tell me what it was and the price. xoxo, Kelly P.S I'm not trying to offend anyone who would buy something like that for that price, I just have a different style and budget.
I just wanted to wish everyone here on BT who is a student--at any stage in their academic career--a big GOOD LUCK on finals, and Happy Holidays to you and yours My boyfriend reminded me earlier today: 50 minutes of studying, 10 minutes of break, and repeat. That's the best ratio, apparently. My ten minute break is just about up, so, back to studying I go! Hugs to all of you and don't forget to eat before your tests! <3
At work this morning all the employees are passing around this envelope so one of them can go drive 2 hours away to purchase lotto tickets (mega millions). I think I was the only one that didn't put any money in it. Personally, I wouldn't want to win the lottery. Too much greed and spoiled lives, not to mention the bickering between family and friends. That's ok I'll pass and live contently not having to worry which charity or people I would give away my winnings to. Talk about a stress factor, then again you could have a lifetime supply of Sephora products! Do you think having a business doing the "lotto run" together is a nay or a yay? What about yourself, do you buy tickets or are you oppose to it?
Where you finally know what you want? (even if it's somewhat vague) I had one of those today. I know that I want: to go to school (i turned 26 in the fall but better late then never) a truck ( yeah, i'm 5"3 but whatever ) to fix my credit and get a credit card again to learn how to skate well to learn how to play the violin to stick to a healthy way of eating (so those extra pounds with come off) a new fashionable wardrobe (in a smaller size ^) and more make up What do you want? (It can be anything )
I just realized that, after two weeks of finals, numerous doctor visits, running errands, preparing for Christmas, my 6 year old never sleeping past 2a.m. and all my regular "wifely duties" I'm thoroughly exhausted! I think after accomplishing all this, I should treat myself to a visit to Sephora (when I go to the "big city" to see yet another doctor!) hmmmm....what shall I treat myself with??? And more importantly...what shall I treat my husband with for putting up with me through this????
-RESOLVED- So I have this car that WAS in prestine condition.....until I got into a car crash that renders it undrivable because the hit bent everything in one of the wheel area. The price of repair is half what I paid for the car (despite the fact it's only 20-30% damaged), and it's undrivable so I don't think I can sell it as it is now. So now, I'm not sure what to do with it. Anyone have any experience with broken/crashed car? ps. Sorry to be really really off-topic, but I'm not sure where to ask. T.T
I can't remember which thread it was on, but one of y'all mentioned Nordstrom's Rack having makeup and beauty products. And, dang, sure enough mine did!! How'd I NOT know this? Well... this is what just one shelf looked like, and there were about 5 like this: And, why yes that DOES day UD eyeliner for under $4... And I got ALL these polishes!! Ack!
Did anyone else get sucked in to Ulta's cyber monday and still not even get a shipping notice? I never order from Ulta but they had some gifts I missed out on or didn't have at Sephora (the $10 Art of Shaving kit for my BIL, a $19 Bare Minerals kit for my SIL) and the free gift looked nice. I ordered just after midnight on sunday night/monday morning and it still says "order processing" and since it's been 5 days the pending charges aren't even on m CC anymore. I know other people are having the same issues because their Facebook page is blowing up and they sent an email out letting everyone know they are experiencing delays. They said it will still be here within 10 business days (which is really 2 weeks) but I am not confident my order will complete or have the free gift (if something is OOS it will mess up my christmas shopping because I thought I was done). I get it's shopping season, but in comparison, all my other holiday orders have been here for a few days. My Sephora CM order that I placed late on Monday got here Wednesday. My giftopia order was only 1 or 2 days behind, which wasn't bad at all. I'm on day 6 with Ulta. Anyone else having holiday shipping woes or get sucked into Ulta? I knew I was a Sephora girl before, but I can say with confidence now that Sephora > Ulta. Plus, Sephora's CS has always been good to me. Ulta doesn't seem to be handling this well. UPDATE: I received a shipping notice last night 12/9 for 2 of my items. It says the label was created so I'm not sure when I am getting them. At least I will be getting them. STILL waiting for 3 other items to ship/praying they aren't out of stock. If they are, I "loved" 3 back up Christmas gifts from Sephora. Hopefully I will know soon if I need to pull the trigger! 2ND UPDATE: Finally got a shipping notice when I woke up this morning 12/11. It *should* all be here Friday. I'm just glad I got the shipping notice. It wasn't about WHEN it would get here, it was about IF it would get here--especially since everything except the GWP was Christmas gifts for other people.
Since pipsqueek1582 so graciously offered her free items to us and there were enough items to start a box, we are officially opening Traveling Sephora Box #9 - 2013! I offered to help set up this thread with the rules and list of participants just to make it easier for everyone. I am calling this box #9 because box 7 split into 2 different boxes. The rules are basically the same as previous boxes which I borrowed (cut and pasted) from previous threads. 1. Please, NO DRUGSTORE items! 2. To keep things moving as quickly as possible, I'm requesting that people with U.S. ADDRESSES ONLY participate in this box. (I'm sorry Canadian BTers! ) 3. Once the box comes back to pipsqueek1582, she will donate what is left to a worthy charity in her area. 4. If you do not see your name on this list from the previous thread, or would like to change your spot on the list, please post a request and send me a PM if you are able to swap with someone. 5. Please be aware that shipping costs may reach upwards of $17 if the TSB gets really full. Previous TSBs have used either the Priority Mail Flat Rate Medium or Large Box (comes out to $12.35 or $16.85 with tracking & shipping confirmation). If you are going to participate, please be prepared for the shipping costs! Here is how it works: Pipsqueek1582 will fill a box with products and send it through USPS to the next person on the list. They will go through the box, take what they want, add their own items in, then send it to the next person. What you need to do: 1. Send a Personal Message to the person before you on the list with your mailing address right away so there's no delay in shipping. 2. Start collecting, sanitizing, and labeling your beauty goodies. Please label swatched & sanitized on a plastic bag or with a removable sticker instead of using a marker on the product. 3. Read through the Rules below to know what is allowed & what is not allowed: Allowed: ☆ High-End products and items you got from subscription boxes ☆ All opened items must be labeled ("swatched", "opened", "tried/used"…) ☆ Fragrance if it's in a spray bottle (can be 1/2 used too) & must be wrapped ☆ Nail polish must be tightly closed & bubble wrapped/bagged/in a box ☆ Makeup as long as you've cleaned it with alcohol & it doesn't have big fingerprint marks/dents in it ☆ Mascara if it's sealed and/or has not been used ☆ Tools/Brushes/Cases/Bags as long as they are clean ☆ Anything that is sealed ☆ Skin care items in tubes & bottles Jars only allowed if it's sealed or unopened ☆ Items will be organized in bags by type. Make sure products are wrapped well so they won't leak or break & ruin everything else ☆ Keep non beauty related items to a minimum (please do not overload the box with makeup bags, cases, etc). ☆ every explodable/leakable item needs to be inside a plastic bag/ziplock Not Allowed: ☹ Pre-made samples ☹ Drugstore items ☹ No USED items with wands, such as lip glosses, mascara, or concealers ☹ Heavily used items (except for perfume) ☹ Anything that might be considered unsanitary ☹ Taking more than you put in. Keep the Value of items equal ☹ Swatching items in the box 4 Do not keep the box for more than 3 days. (USPS does home pickup, so no EXCUSES! ) If you are traveling or something comes up, please let us know ASAP so we can move you down on the list. 5. Package things carefully and put in ziplock bags. 6. TRADE on or ABOVE the value of what you took. 7. Please include a tracking number. It makes it more fun anticipating your turn. Please post it and also send me a PM. 8. Post in a picture and/or text what you took and left (picture AND written description preferred). 9. Have fun and try some things you haven't tried before! Please ask if you have anything that is questionable. ♥ No drama ♥ Be polite ♥ NO RESERVES (you may ask for people to TRY to include items. If it gets to you terriffic. If not, that's okay too) If you think there is a need for more rules, post a reply to this. *******The list is closed******** Here is the list of participants : Pipsqueek1582 (I'll start it ;-) mailed 12/17 1. suddenlyforever 2. wendyomgwar 3. srikandi 4. Hello BEAUTYTALK i was thinking today, we always post on here our expectations of company's, but do you believe there is certain responsibilities for customers towards company's / sales associates? Do you think there isn't any and that customer is king? I was at a certain beauty store and noticed a customer brushing her hair with a brush then putting it back just to grab the one behind it!? So is there a code of conduct for customers as well?
Hey there gals! Thankfully this is not the early 20th century and we can discuss of feminine concerns openly and freely (whew!) So i recently received my first prescription for birth control pills and i was curious to know your experiences with pills, or any other form of contraception such as the shot or rings. Though i know every woman reacts differently to hormones and have read numerous reviews on the pills i am prescribed, let me know your successes and or failures and how it may or may not have affected you!
I need some advice guys and girls, my bosses husband died several months ago when it happened my mom had taught me you send flowers and go pay your respects at the funeral home and I did. What's puzzling to me is I never got a thank you card even though that not the reason I did it. Another thing that happened was my pharmacstist that I work with was getting married I was not invited but I got her a gift . she opened it right there in the pharmacy said she loved it and went back to work. Should I expect a thank you note from her? I know she sent some out because she told me someone gave her and her fiancé a gift but there was no card saying who it was from and she was going to post a picture of it on Facebook to find out who gave it to them so she could send out a thank you card. I though it the thought that counts but why do some people not say thank you?
What makeup is everyone wearing today? Today I am wearing: 1. Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation in Champagne 2. Benefit Coralista blush 3. TheBalm Mary-Loumanizer 4. Dior Creme de Rose Lipbalm 5. Dior Addict Lipstick in 454 6. Benefit Creaseless Cream shadow in RSVP and under all this I am wearing Neutrogena Pure and Free Liquid Sunblock SPF 50 So c'mon now...confess!
This is a thread to post products that are Radiant Orchid-themed! This color definitely needs more attention because it's a nice change from the heavy wine, jewel, and brown tones I've been seeing lately. EDIT: Feel free to correct me if you feel my color choices are off
