Yesterday I lost my makeup bag!!!!! (it might have been stolen but no proof....) All I can say is thank god it didn't have absolutely everything I own in it (my Tom Ford lipsticks are safe), but today I had to run to my Sephora to replace all my essentials try out all new things. First off, I had to go into the mall with absolutely zero makeup on while everyone in there was looking gorgeous with a full face.. embarrassing. Anywayssssssss after I really thought about what I had to have to get through the week, I narrowed it down to 5 products: foundation, concealer, powder, brow pencil, and mascara. What I lost Foundation : Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (4) - the only reason I'm not crying about this is because it was almost out, and it was becoming too dark since I'm losing my 'tan' or I should say my 'less pale' Concealer : Giorgio Armani High Precision Retouch Powder : Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder Brows : Anastasia Brow Wiz (Dark Brown) Mascara : Chanel Volume de Chanel What I bought Foundation : Diorskin Star Foundation (010) - I had been interested in trying this since it came out a few weeks ago and (from the one day I've had it) I really like it so far. I have very oily skin and the oil control, long wear and coverage is impressive. My only complaint is that 010 (the lightest color) is almost too dark for me and I'm not ridiculously pale Concealer : Dior Skinflash Radiance Booster Pen (002) - 8 hours of rest in a pen!!!!!!! Powder : Too Faced Primed & Poreless Pressed Powder Brows : Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil (Soft Brunette) - love love love love I'm so glad I picked this up, personally I think it's a lot easier and faster to use than the Brow Wiz, definitely my favorite purchase Mascara : Diorshow (Catwalk Black) - I remember loving it when I was in high school (when I made some questionable makeup choices) and I decided to try it out again! Adds a good amount of volume for me but makes my lashes feel hard compared to my favorite mascaras (Laura Mercier) So I'm curious, if you lost all/most of your makeup, what would you buy? All the same products or use it as an opportunity to try out new things (like the makeup addict I am)?
This is on GlamGlow's FB and twitter. Wouldn't let me post links here, GLAMGLOW is running a promo to celebrate the founder's birthday! I thought is was a pretty amazing offer and grabbed it yesterday! For the first 400 US customers both promo codes are still available. A FULL SIZE BRIGHTMUD with POWERMUD purchase! Promo is BRIGHTPOWER. Or $59 off POWERMUD PRO (extra large powermud only available through glamglow), thought I would let everyone know! Both promos are still available!

My makeup "vanity" faces a window, I don't have room to put up lights in front of my space. It seemed like a great idea at the time I move my space around. However I realized I usually put my makeup at 0dark30 so I need good lighting. I currently have a small LED lamp that attaches to the desk I use. I also have a lighted mirror (from Target). The lighting just isn't working for me. It's frustrating. I don't want to move my set up around. Anyone have recommendations for lighting?
I use the Hourglass No. 28 serum when it's colder and drier out due to very dry skin. This is my HG serum since it keeps moisture in my skin and my tinted moisturizer doesn't separate. I just went to use it not more than 15 minutes ago...just to find out the pump on the bottle is gone! Not broken, just GONE. I suspect my toddler was able to reach it and knocked it off the shelf, which probably broke it. I can't even find the pump top for it, so who knows how long it's been like that. Not in the cap stuck either. The kicker? It was just over a third of it left. And the husband says I can't go get more until the 20% off sale in November. Yeah, like that's happening. I was going to SiJCP today to get some of those Sephora Favorites for my sisters for Christmas...this is just a legitimate reason to go to the free standing Sephora store too.
Canadian shoppers! Remember how annoying it was when we found out that Sephora is no longer on the Canadian ebates site? It's back now! 4% cash back Enjoy!! Kinda sucks that it took them this long to have it back since I bought $300+ purchase over the last month, and could really do with the 4-8% cash back! Well at least it's back now
Tried to make a return today at my local Sephora without a receipt. I don't have Beauty Insider account (not a frequent shopper) and had two brand new items, one used totaling ~$80. The register couldn't read my card so a manager starts to inspect my ID, like she is a bouncer in a college town bar. She starts to list things that look wrong with my ID. My ID is five years old and needs to be renewed but why would a grown adult own a fake ID? I offered to show her credit cards and work badge to reflect my name but she refused. She handed my ID to her co-workers and pointed at things she deemed "wrong" with the ID. It was a bizarre and humiliating experience. Returns are at a mangers discretion and it's not the end of the world if she refused my items. The "not scanning correctly on the register" reason is suffice. But who or why would any employee openly accuse a customer of owning and using an illegal instrument (a misdemeanor crime)? If she were adament, the police should have been called. Instead, the store and the company has a pissed off customer. Does Sephora Corporate condone this kind of behavior for store returns?
I've always use online batch code website to check manufacture dates for my skincare/makeup products but today I called Clinique about a serum and they told me that that's not how their system works. For example, I have a serum with the batch code B81 and it comes out as a manufacture date of August 2011. However, Clinique customer service called the supply line and said the item still has a shelf life of two years left. If you're knowledgeable on this topic, please let me know your thoughts
My SIL is a nanny for the director of a local spa and she just unloaded a ton of product and samples on her. She was awesome enough to split the haul and just brought me a goodie bag! Looks like I'll be having some fun!
What is everyone wearing on their lips? I am currently trying all of my lip products because i have all day and there is no school today. Also on a side note, my Make Up Forever lipstick broke so... But it's an excuse to go and buy more makeup! Yay
So kinda screwed myself...I applied for a job, got the interview, they asked me if I knew excel (of course I said yes, it's a great position) and, I don't. How much do you think I could grasp in a week???
I was getting ready for a night out and was applying my makeup when it just so happened that my boyfriend wandered about in my vanity area and picked up my lash curler and asked, "what kind of torture device is this?" and then he went through my makeup stash and continued to ask silly questions about it. He gave my beauty blender a few squeezes and asked just how many shades of red there are that I have to have so many red lipsticks. Then he picked up my Better than Sex Mascara, made a sour face, and then tossed it over his shoulder. I almost died laughing. I knew he was just being silly, but it really makes me wonder how clueless guys about our beauty rituals and just how much time and effort we put into making ourselves pretty. So ladies, fess' up your significant other's beauty blunders, silly questions and goofy reactions about your makeup and beauty rituals.

This happened to me once before, I got stuck on a number that had a certain digit repeated 3 times and it freaks me out!!! I'm now at 5_ _ _ (fill in 3 of the number six there). Yes, I know this is weird, I feel like a bit of a freak, but it's been staring me down and it gives me the willies, heebie jeebies and every other icky feeling you can imagine. On the rare occasion that I actually write a check or come across anything with those 3 digits, I'm gone! The check gets ripped up. If I'm playing solitare, end of game - you get where I'm going with that. So I just need one heart - hate to go begging. Hope this gets seen soon, posting it in off topic and I know that's where many things go to die, sadly. Thanks for the assist, whatever little angel comes along and helps me out with this problem. It's okay, you can laugh about it - it's just one of those things. Thanks in advance.
This is the only board I go on and I have found everyone here to be supportive. I hope to get your advice. I have been looking for steady employment for four years. I have multiple degrees and couldn't even land a minimum wage job and this long, negative journey has resulted in anxiety and severe depression. I finally found a full time job with benefits in my field. I started last week and I hate the job. I'm not being paid a competitive wage for all I'm expected to do and the hours are horrible. I'm scared to leave the job because I'm afraid I won't be able to find another one. I would appreciate any opinions that you have. Thanks!
When you picture yourself at your best, what do you look like and what would your process be to create that look? Can include anything and everything from skin care, shower products, make-up, hair products, clothing, shoes, accessories, whatever you think of when you picture yourself at your happiest, most beautiful/handsome, confident. What do you you use to create the best version of you?
I don't know if I should really categorize this as a "confession" but I used to procrastinate by spending every "free" minute I had on this hur website! If any of you guys remember me...hi there! I keep trying to come back and post more often, but real life gets in the way. Stupid double major, haha. Just wanted to pop in and say I miss you guys, and BT, even though I stand firm in my opinion that it's gone way downhill since this time last year. With the Hourglass Blush Palette release live for VIB Rouges, I thought it was time for a lil renaissance. I wish I had some fun look to post or something!
Was wondering if anyone's subscribed to the Walmart Beauty Box that (I think) only recently came out? I just got mine today, and I'm pretty impressed, considering it was only $5! Obviously, nothing high end in here, but I still love my drugstore brands and thought this was totally worth it.
Does anyone else struggle with using only "a pea size" amount of serums, moisturizers, retinol, etc? Whenever I try to use this elusive amount it never feels like it's enough to cover one cheek let alone my entire face! Maybe my face is just larger than average lol?
This unbearable California heat has done it! It has wreaked havoc on my lippies. So its 102+ for the past week here. Normally the heat doesn't do much damage because usually it gets nice a cool at night. Usually in the mid 60s. But this past week it hasn't been cooling down at all. And...we don't have central air. So today while cleaning out and taking stock some of my lovely lippies fell victim to the consistent heat. Now I understand if I had carelessly left a lippy in the car in the heat or accidentally let one roll into the oven but they were just sitting there, in the room, minding their own business. *Sigh* Anyone else have their make up ruined by external forces beyond your control?
I love the colors, but I don't know why none of them look good on me. Or i'm doing something wrong. I've got big green eyes and pale skin and I've tried a mixture of all of them and they don't do anything for me but make me look dead tired lol Anyone else have this problem???
I'm debating what kind of storage I want to go for. I currently use a writing desk (only has one drawer that is stuffed with random junk right now). On top, I have a couple acrylic drawers, and then some other bins filled with random things. It's... chaos right now. There's not enough room for it to be organized, and it's driving me nuts. I am waffling between IKEA Alex drawers (the 5) to go underneath, and store things that way, or a ton more acrylics for on top. I'd prefer acrylics on top of the desk for a) access and b) appearance, but I just am thinking it's not going to fit everything I want it to fit. Does anyone have any personal experiences that might help my decision?
Isn't it awesome when you've been doing your makeup forever and you still manage to stab yourself in the eye with your mascara or eyeliner? Haha Sorry it just happened to me as I was getting ready for school today. I just felt like sharing
I recently heard about dumpster diving and people literally jump into dumpsters and steal makeup. Is it even considered "stealing" if it's in trash? Just thinking about it is disgusting and it's making me feel dirty haha.
I'm so excited! This past week I've been shadowing out on the black tile with my new co workers. It's so much fun since I love helping people find the right beauty products. Although, I'm still a bit nervous when giving mini makeovers. I feel a bit scared that I'm doing something wrong or they don't like what I'm doing. But the best way to learn is just to do it, right? Is there any advice you could give me so that I can be the best beauty consultant ever? I'm super friendly and I always jump in to help. I actively offer samples and give a reasonable amount (usually a 3 day supply). I always offer to sanitize and provide clean applicators and makeup removers. But I just feel like I could do more, especially when there's a freestanding Sephora on the upper level.
