Today I managed to drop my brannnd spankin new MUFE Flash palette Help me feel better by telling me I'm not alone - what have you accidentally dropped/messed up lately? *tries not to get tears on the newly cracked case* And to make matters worse, Hourglass cancelled my order for ONE ambient lighting palette because they thought I was a third party seller??! Today is just not my makeup day.
The 15% off at Sephora is still going on, as well as great promos at a couple other places. I'm trying SO hard not to break my wallet so I'll live vivaciously through y'all's hauls until end of the month. If you are an April baby, don't forget to take advantage of the numerous b-day offerings everywhere(sometimes it take a few days after signing up to get the offer): http://community.sephora.com/t5/Beauty-Insider/Bir thday-Gifts-and-Promos-from-Cosmetic-Companies/m-p ... And of course, before you place an order, don't forget to check the current perks and promo threads that will rob you of all your points and will power: http://community.sephora.com/t5/VIB/Active-Promo-C odes-8-The-quot-I-hope-I-don-t-get-into-trouble/td ... http://community.sephora.com/t5/VIB/Active-List-of -100-Point-Perks/td-p/869671 http://community.sephora.com/t5/VIB/Active-List-of -250-500-and-Male-Point-Perks/td-p/869679 And ebates or whatever rebate website you are using. Ok, I am a sucker for hilarious memes. I hope this thread can be one where you guys post your favorites. NOTE: I am not offended easily, so if you are, don't open the spoiler Spoiler (Highlight to read) Bad luck Brian is totally my favorite because there are quite a few VERY inappropriate ones that I can laugh at in the comfort of my own home without be judged. After a winter polar vortex comes a spring pollen vortex according to some newscaster so, for me, that means a long allergy season ahead!! Itchy nose, mega fits of sneazing (+10 in a row), tears streaming down my face people think I'm crying. Of course I take the anti-histamines when I can but sometimes, due to work, I absolutely have to stay away from them to stay mentally alert. I do the usual with cucumber/tea bags on eyes, drink rooisbos tea etc. How do you deal with allergies(aside from OTC meds)? And, what are you emergency make-up fix tips (like after a major tearing episode, I have to run to the bathroom to clean up my raccoon eyes and wipe away streaks of foundation on my cheek! AHG).
Have you been buying way too many beauty products lately? Is your vanity overflowing with way too much clutter? If you haven't heard of the Project 10 Pan (which I believe started on Youtube, that's where I heard about it!), let me briefly describe what it is. You select 10 (or however many you'd like) products, whether it's makeup, skincare, hair products or all. You must finish these 10 products in its entirely (or "hit pan", where you have used so much of the product that you see the bottom of the "pan") before you are allowed to buy new makeup products. This really helps with appreciating what you have rather than buying more and more things, leaving older products you have to sit in the dust! *There are also exceptions, for example, if you run out of concealer... you can allow yourself to purchase another concealer even if you haven't completed the Project 10 Pan. Is anyone else doing a Project 10 Pan?! I definitely needed to control myself after IMATS LA and tons of Sephora gift cards for my birthday and the recent UD sale! So, I started up my Project 10 Pan again two weeks ago! I'm determined not to be good and stick with it! Here are my items that I've chosen for my Project 10 Pan: 1. Sephora Mineral Foundation Powder in Medium 25 - I've had this since March and I'm barely half way!! I use this daily. 2. Sephora Lip Gloss in Pink Ballerina - about half way through. 3. Clinique Lip Gloss in Bamboo Pink - about half way through. 4. NYX Lip Gloss in Beige - still have more than 3/4 of the product left! 5. Stila Liquid Eye Liner in Black - I'll finish this in about a month or so. 6. BADgal Lash - I have about half a month left til I need to throw it out. 7. L'oreal Voluminous Mascara - still have about 2 months til I need to throw it out. 8. Maybelline One by One Mascara - will be throwing this out in a couple weeks. 9. UD Primer Potion - I have two small samples, but I really don't know how long they will last! 10. ELF Blush in Tickled Pink - I haven't even hit pan with this! and any of my UD eye shadows in my Naked palette, which I haven't even hit pan with! This will definitely take a long time to complete, but I'm okay with that because I really need to save my money and just enjoy what I have! Let me know what your list looks like!
Ahhhhhh! I have just been going nuts with the makeup purchases since January! I have literally been buying up stuff as I see and want it! I read a suggest that to cut back a bit I should go through a No-buy period unless it's a necessity. How long should a no-buy be? I was thinking a month but am scared a palette will come out I really want, lol. I'm a bit weak. i think I need a little support with this one! This isn't going to include the palettes I have coming in the mail. I just am not allowed to make anymore purchases starting today for ??????.
I really think it takes me way too long, but no matter how hard I try (unless I skip steps) I just can't seem to take less than an hour if I'm doing a full face. Ridiculous! If I'm in a rush I can knock it to 20 minutes, but I usually have to leave out a lot of steps and it never looks the same. What about you guys?
Dear Mods, I respectfully request that ShinyMagpie be inducted into the BeautyTalk Hall of Fame. She is very helpful, and posts great info on the boards. I have no idea how long she has been here, but she has over 4,000 hearts. You only get hearts by contributing positive things, and by others seeing your value. She has been so gracious when less tenured people have become Hall of Famers before her. Please induct ShinyMagpie as a Hall of Famer I really feel she adds to my positive experience on BeautyTalk. I think others agree. Respectfully, DandyLionFluff
Come and let everyone know if you've done a trade with someone or they've been an awesome TSB contributor! Let's give kudos to our BT BFFs! So a post could be one persons feedback on another, how a trade went, did they ship quickly, etc. and others could reply if they dealt with the same person and how their trade went.
I want to give a big shout out to my friend Lylysa for her 9400+ hearts! She writes the most amazing posts that are always chock full of information that is so relevant and helpful. Always kind and a fabulous friend to all us here on BT! Hugs!
What product do you feel like you will you never in a million years be able to use up? For me it's the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector. The bottle is huge for something I use a tiny drop of a few times a week. Anyone else wish everything came in travel sizes so you could change products every two weeks without feeling guilty about things going bad or going to waste?
Since pipsqueek1582 so graciously offered her free items to us and there were enough items to start a box, we are officially opening Traveling Sephora Box #9 - 2013! I offered to help set up this thread with the rules and list of participants just to make it easier for everyone. I am calling this box #9 because box 7 split into 2 different boxes. The rules are basically the same as previous boxes which I borrowed (cut and pasted) from previous threads. 1. Please, NO DRUGSTORE items! 2. To keep things moving as quickly as possible, I'm requesting that people with U.S. ADDRESSES ONLY participate in this box. (I'm sorry Canadian BTers! ) 3. Once the box comes back to pipsqueek1582, she will donate what is left to a worthy charity in her area. 4. If you do not see your name on this list from the previous thread, or would like to change your spot on the list, please post a request and send me a PM if you are able to swap with someone. 5. Please be aware that shipping costs may reach upwards of $17 if the TSB gets really full. Previous TSBs have used either the Priority Mail Flat Rate Medium or Large Box (comes out to $12.35 or $16.85 with tracking & shipping confirmation). If you are going to participate, please be prepared for the shipping costs! Here is how it works: Pipsqueek1582 will fill a box with products and send it through USPS to the next person on the list. They will go through the box, take what they want, add their own items in, then send it to the next person. What you need to do: 1. Send a Personal Message to the person before you on the list with your mailing address right away so there's no delay in shipping. 2. Start collecting, sanitizing, and labeling your beauty goodies. Please label swatched & sanitized on a plastic bag or with a removable sticker instead of using a marker on the product. 3. Read through the Rules below to know what is allowed & what is not allowed: Allowed: ☆ High-End products and items you got from subscription boxes ☆ All opened items must be labeled ("swatched", "opened", "tried/used"…) ☆ Fragrance if it's in a spray bottle (can be 1/2 used too) & must be wrapped ☆ Nail polish must be tightly closed & bubble wrapped/bagged/in a box ☆ Makeup as long as you've cleaned it with alcohol & it doesn't have big fingerprint marks/dents in it ☆ Mascara if it's sealed and/or has not been used ☆ Tools/Brushes/Cases/Bags as long as they are clean ☆ Anything that is sealed ☆ Skin care items in tubes & bottles Jars only allowed if it's sealed or unopened ☆ Items will be organized in bags by type. Make sure products are wrapped well so they won't leak or break & ruin everything else ☆ Keep non beauty related items to a minimum (please do not overload the box with makeup bags, cases, etc). ☆ every explodable/leakable item needs to be inside a plastic bag/ziplock Not Allowed: ☹ Pre-made samples ☹ Drugstore items ☹ No USED items with wands, such as lip glosses, mascara, or concealers ☹ Heavily used items (except for perfume) ☹ Anything that might be considered unsanitary ☹ Taking more than you put in. Keep the Value of items equal ☹ Swatching items in the box 4 Do not keep the box for more than 3 days. (USPS does home pickup, so no EXCUSES! ) If you are traveling or something comes up, please let us know ASAP so we can move you down on the list. 5. Package things carefully and put in ziplock bags. 6. TRADE on or ABOVE the value of what you took. 7. Please include a tracking number. It makes it more fun anticipating your turn. Please post it and also send me a PM. 8. Post in a picture and/or text what you took and left (picture AND written description preferred). 9. Have fun and try some things you haven't tried before! Please ask if you have anything that is questionable. ♥ No drama ♥ Be polite ♥ NO RESERVES (you may ask for people to TRY to include items. If it gets to you terriffic. If not, that's okay too) If you think there is a need for more rules, post a reply to this. *******The list is closed******** Here is the list of participants : Pipsqueek1582 (I'll start it ;-) sent 12/17 1. suddenlyforever - arrived 12/21, sent 12/23 2. wendyomgwar - arrived 12/24, sent 1/4 3. As I was about to press "confirm" on a purchase of new blush on It Cosmetics, I realized that I have absolutely no need for yet another blush and decided that I need a makeup purchasing diet. Maybe it would be fun to go on this diet with some others (hint, hint). Who wants to shop our own collection for the next 30 days to see what new stuff we can create without buying anything? Maybe we can even post some pics. anyone brave enough?
Exactly what the title says I know we've chatted about this before, but I thought I'd revive the topic with a new thread. With Chic Week coming up and new collections/products/lines dropping what feels like every day, what brands (collections, too, since Sephora's offering can be limited at the brand's discretion) do you wish you saw on shelves? For me, it would be Chanel, Tom Ford, and YSL's Spring collection. Chanel's Illusion d'Ombres (cream shadows) and Glossimers (lip glosses) are calling to me with their siren song, as are Tom Ford's lippies, quads and contour palettes (however exorbitantly priced!!!). I love YSL lippies, so I wish the new colors got some love here at Sephora. Oh, and while we're on the subject, ByTerry and Chantecaille wouldn't hurt, either! I adore both, and don't own nearly enough of either!
Thank you for keeping us posted on the latest 100, 250, and 500 pt perks for women and men, US and Canadian, Missie772!!! We all appreciate your dedication in keeping up with even the perks that come back in stock! Thank you for being one of my first BT BBFFFFFs, for all the enabling, and for all the girl chats on beauty, life, and everything in between, my dear! That said, I hope it's a day filled with Cruel Gardenia, blushes, and Pineapple buns/Bo Lo Baos! <3 <3 <3
Beware this is pic heavy! This is an unfiltered-terribly-shot-photo pictorial.... No sun today, it was rainy so you get the icky flash...There are some funky eyeball shots in here... continue if you dare *evil laugh* *Okay, nekkid eye -gross. Lets prime those bad boys with TooFaced Shadow insurance. Next cover that nekkid lid with a base- I chose Nyx jumbo eye pencil in milk.... blend it all out. *Start in the inner corner with yellow (brands don't matter any one will work), pack on turquoise in the middle and navy in the outer end. I make a v because i'm funky like that. Next I took a thin shadow brush, turned it sideways and start working inward. *After I put down my navy shade I went back over and packed on more color and used my little spongy friend to blend the colors together. I mostly just took the teal color and patted it gently in the transition areas- I didn't smudge them together, just touched the applicator gently and applied the teal until they were blended. * Now for the purple.....(pat-pat the color and tap-tap on the desk to knock off extra) I loaded my brush with color and put the brush down once on my lid. Then I made a swish with the color that was on my lid. I just kept gently working until I had the color blended down to the navy color. *back and forth 400 times ought to do it*.....I used the brush and my spongy friend to blend. *White goes in the brow bone area, and a big fluffy brush blends them all together. (because colors are happy when they get blended) *Now its time to give the bottom lid some love. Same color pattern as the top. I used my finger to blend them because all the sudden I have gotten lazy. *Top the lashes with a line of liquid... lining the waterline and tightline with a waterproof pencil. Do not get all panicky when you and your liner have an argument. We will fix wonky bugger later.... *Clean up the tail with a q-tip, curl those bad mama-jamma's, pop on some mascara, and apply some entirely awesome falsies. Because as bombshell says, they can make you conquer the world. *wink* *Now, I decided that I didn't have enough pink on so I adjusted the color. I straightened out that argument me and my liner had and added glitter to the brows.... (because glittery brows make you fancy) Aaaaand VOILA! There you go! Before and after: Products used: Toofaced shadow insurance Nyx jumbo pencil in milk *drumroll......* Wet-n-wild palette in "poster child" (yes its true!) Sugarpill shadows 2am (purple) and tako (white) Kat von D tattoo liner Marc Jacobs highliner Red Cherry lashes #82 Armani eyes to kill mascara Urban Decay glitter liner in distortion My cheap little spongy buddies and some random brushes. It doesn't matter what kind----any will do. and omg- now you have the longest post in the entire history. Thanks for looking! xoxo Calamity~
Happy Thursday BT babes! Since "throwback thursday" is such a huge trend, I thought it would be fun to do a "love it or leave it" throwback. Share your fav makeup trend throughout the years... and the one you are SOOOO glad faded away. Enjoy!
Love, love, LOVE it - Classic 50s inspired makeup. That perfect winged liner & a well defined lip. It transcends the decades & really will never go out of style
The 80s. Its fun to reminisce, but I don't think I'd ever be able to pull of the the bights colors, heavy liner, major shadow... just not me!
Cant wait to see what some of your #TBT posts!!
I've been on the Ipsy waiting list, but still look at the thread. I thought we could have a shared thread from all the subscription boxes (including non-beauty ones likes underpants and lifestyle such as Wantable and POPSugar). That way we can live vicariously through each others goodies! (I know there are unboxing videos on YouTube, but I do not have the patience to sit through a five minute video about someone apologizing for the state of their hair. And I know there are blogs where I can see photos, but everyone usually gets different items in their boxes)
So, last week my daughter (elementary school aged) was looking over my shoulder, and a Tarte lip color was on the screen. I assume it was the bad angle, but she thought it said "Farte," and she hollered, "Farty?" I zoomed in so she could see the writing better, and we got a good laugh out of it. Fast forward to today. The Meet Your Match set just arrived in the mail. She saw the box and commented that it was cute, so I removed the tray and gave her the box. So then she was looking at the products in the tray, and she started laughing. She said she mis-read it as "Farte" again. Then she asked if I wanted some "Farty" on my lips. *sigh* Spoiler (Highlight to read)
We swatched the 4 of the new MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Matic eyeshadow pencils to see how the colors looked on different skintones. What do you think?
