This hasn't been started yet so I'll give it a go. Today is the last day that SiJCP has an extra 25% off clearance so I stopped in to poke around before I start up the smoker for tonight. I grabbed all these goodies for $30.
What makeup is everyone wearing today? Today I am wearing: 1. Benefit Hello Flawless Foundation in Champagne 2. Benefit Coralista blush 3. TheBalm Mary-Loumanizer 4. Dior Creme de Rose Lipbalm 5. Dior Addict Lipstick in 454 6. Benefit Creaseless Cream shadow in RSVP and under all this I am wearing Neutrogena Pure and Free Liquid Sunblock SPF 50 So c'mon now...confess!
This is the only board I go on and I have found everyone here to be supportive. I hope to get your advice. I have been looking for steady employment for four years. I have multiple degrees and couldn't even land a minimum wage job and this long, negative journey has resulted in anxiety and severe depression. I finally found a full time job with benefits in my field. I started last week and I hate the job. I'm not being paid a competitive wage for all I'm expected to do and the hours are horrible. I'm scared to leave the job because I'm afraid I won't be able to find another one. I would appreciate any opinions that you have. Thanks!
So I feel like doing my makeup, but it's raining so I don't think I'll be going out. That's not the point of this status though. What kind of music do you prefer on a rainy day? Mine goes from classical music, to the beatles, and of course - David Bowie!
When you picture yourself at your best, what do you look like and what would your process be to create that look? Can include anything and everything from skin care, shower products, make-up, hair products, clothing, shoes, accessories, whatever you think of when you picture yourself at your happiest, most beautiful/handsome, confident. What do you you use to create the best version of you?
I have a pretty comfy makeup station and I do love me my products and I pretty much use everything from soup (primer) to nuts (setting spray). But I've noticed that instead of getting faster, I'm just getting slower and sloooower in my makeup application. I really enjoy the process of putting my makeup on - it's probably my favorite part of the day. But I feel like it's taking me a ridiculously long time to do my fairly simple everyday look (I don't vary how I do my makeup TOO much from day-to-day). So I used the timer on my phone for the past three days: 42, 50, and 52 minutes! Yikes! You ladies have seen my makeup. Nothing on my face should take 52 minutes! I know I take a long time doing my eyebrows - they're always a trouble spot for me. I'm going to TRY and speed myself up over the next few days so I can at least have more time to walk my dog in the mornings before work. So I'm curious...how long does it take YOU to do your makeup?
--closed-- Box of awesome high end items and unicorns, show me yours and I'll show you mine, lol. While I’m not “ancient”, I’ve been on BeautyTalk WAY longer than I ever expected and have made some very good friends….as well as been enabled into getting WAY more makeup, lol. It is getting a bit overwhelming and as much as I like pretty things, my style is more minimalist, so I don’t reaaally need 6 or 7 jars of Guerlain meteorites etc. To help revamp/reorganize my stash as well as having some fun with the awesome friends I’ve made, I’m doing the LUV TB. It contains lots of makeup that I love but never use, altho I couldn’t bear to part with any perfumes or majority of the skincare, so you ladies will have to make up for it along the way. Keep it classy, with high end and preferably new or lightly used things. No drugstores. Since it’s got tons of expensive items, I asked people I trust who are interested, so the box is closed. If it goes well, I may do another one next year when I've accumulated enough treasures. =P Expand below to see the rules, taken from the awesome roxystar4 and slightly simplified: Spoiler (Highlight to read) * Please make sure every item is in a plastic ziplock bag to prevent spills. Isn't it awesome when you've been doing your makeup forever and you still manage to stab yourself in the eye with your mascara or eyeliner? Haha Sorry it just happened to me as I was getting ready for school today. I just felt like sharing
A while back I had made a look using the colors of the stray cat that took shelter in my home, I've fed and given her water ever since. This is the second time she's had kittens, unfortunately the last litter didn't survive and from what I know she only had two this time but only one has made it to the barely opening eyes stage. She had them on July 1st. I haven't named the kitty yet, but here's a picture of his(I'm thinking it's a he) cuteness. Taken today. It's been 2 months and 7 days since little neko was born. Here is his updated picture, he posed for it. He posed a lot.
I am sitting here looking at all my makeup. Then I realize, I will never be able to use it all....not in a lifetime. Many products aren't even touched. But they keep coming out with new things! Especially with the holiday releases coming up. And I can't stop!!! What a dilemma!
I've been on the Ipsy waiting list, but still look at the thread. I thought we could have a shared thread from all the subscription boxes (including non-beauty ones likes underpants and lifestyle such as Wantable and POPSugar). That way we can live vicariously through each others goodies! (I know there are unboxing videos on YouTube, but I do not have the patience to sit through a five minute video about someone apologizing for the state of their hair. And I know there are blogs where I can see photos, but everyone usually gets different items in their boxes)
I don't know if I should really categorize this as a "confession" but I used to procrastinate by spending every "free" minute I had on this hur website! If any of you guys remember me...hi there! I keep trying to come back and post more often, but real life gets in the way. Stupid double major, haha. Just wanted to pop in and say I miss you guys, and BT, even though I stand firm in my opinion that it's gone way downhill since this time last year. With the Hourglass Blush Palette release live for VIB Rouges, I thought it was time for a lil renaissance. I wish I had some fun look to post or something!
I love the colors, but I don't know why none of them look good on me. Or i'm doing something wrong. I've got big green eyes and pale skin and I've tried a mixture of all of them and they don't do anything for me but make me look dead tired lol Anyone else have this problem???
So I'd like to maintain a board for the Canadian customers. A place where we can share our events, promos, problems etc. I sometimes see deals and info for Canadians and rather then posting a new convo all the time maybe we can just share on this board. I think it would be easier to communicate with each other if we only had one board to follow. - I recently posted that Nail Polish Canada has free shipping on any orders for a limited time. EDITED: Anyone interested in getting Tonymoly products you can contact them via their Canadian Facebook page to place an order. 5$ shipping, free over purchases 50$. I think they have a store in Pacific Mall in Markham ON Tarte now ships to Canada!
Does anyone else struggle with using only "a pea size" amount of serums, moisturizers, retinol, etc? Whenever I try to use this elusive amount it never feels like it's enough to cover one cheek let alone my entire face! Maybe my face is just larger than average lol?
Does it bother anyone else that people are allowed to post reviews on something they haven't purchased? I was looking at the UD Mother Lode to post a pic and I start scrolling: That's too expensive, or I wish I could afford it, or only rich people can buy this, thanks for making me depressed. There should be a box to check if you have purchased the item or a box if you just want to comment on it. 37 reviews and only ONE person that actually has it in hand
Was wondering if anyone's subscribed to the Walmart Beauty Box that (I think) only recently came out? I just got mine today, and I'm pretty impressed, considering it was only $5! Obviously, nothing high end in here, but I still love my drugstore brands and thought this was totally worth it.
I'm debating what kind of storage I want to go for. I currently use a writing desk (only has one drawer that is stuffed with random junk right now). On top, I have a couple acrylic drawers, and then some other bins filled with random things. It's... chaos right now. There's not enough room for it to be organized, and it's driving me nuts. I am waffling between IKEA Alex drawers (the 5) to go underneath, and store things that way, or a ton more acrylics for on top. I'd prefer acrylics on top of the desk for a) access and b) appearance, but I just am thinking it's not going to fit everything I want it to fit. Does anyone have any personal experiences that might help my decision?
I recently heard about dumpster diving and people literally jump into dumpsters and steal makeup. Is it even considered "stealing" if it's in trash? Just thinking about it is disgusting and it's making me feel dirty haha.
This unbearable California heat has done it! It has wreaked havoc on my lippies. So its 102+ for the past week here. Normally the heat doesn't do much damage because usually it gets nice a cool at night. Usually in the mid 60s. But this past week it hasn't been cooling down at all. And...we don't have central air. So today while cleaning out and taking stock some of my lovely lippies fell victim to the consistent heat. Now I understand if I had carelessly left a lippy in the car in the heat or accidentally let one roll into the oven but they were just sitting there, in the room, minding their own business. *Sigh* Anyone else have their make up ruined by external forces beyond your control?
Come and let everyone know if you've done a trade with someone or they've been an awesome TSB contributor! Let's give kudos to our BT BFFs! So a post could be one persons feedback on another, how a trade went, did they ship quickly, etc. and others could reply if they dealt with the same person and how their trade went.
What a depressing two days we have had. First, the untimely death of the great Robin Williams yesterday. And now, today, the beautiful Lauren Bacall. She was not only a gorgeous, talented woman, she was also a devoted wife to Humphrey Bogart and mother to his children. We lost another great one today, and although she will now be reunited with her Bogey, she's going to be missed forever by the ones she left behind. Rest in peace beautiful Betty.
They have an Hourglass brush that I would like to buy, and I have the code for $20 off your first purchase... however every single review (and there are many) for HSN say that they've had nothing but problems and truly awful customer service. Has anyone bought from HSN before? Please share your experiences. Let me know if I'm safe spending $54 on their site.
Hello there, ladies and gents! Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask: "What's on your plate?" The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween! For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet. Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water. For lunch today, I had: -Brown rice -Steamed egg -Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper -Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens) Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have?
I dislike the customer service and coupon restrictions. Just tried a coupon that gives NEARLY everything off 20% (even UD) and it didn't work. I wanted the Marc Jacob Daisy So Fresh purse spray. (Not at Sephora) Another horror was me driving to one 30 minutes away and kept checking up on the limited edition OPI polishes that were out of stock. They offered to get the items and transfer them to the store. IT TOOK A F****ING MONTH. Of course I got it for free because I was b****ing and whining and probably attempted to cause a scene. I complained about the driving and their incompetence. God, what a nightmare. I love you Sephora.
