--closed-- Box of awesome high end items and unicorns, show me yours and I'll show you mine, lol. While I’m not “ancient”, I’ve been on BeautyTalk WAY longer than I ever expected and have made some very good friends….as well as been enabled into getting WAY more makeup, lol. It is getting a bit overwhelming and as much as I like pretty things, my style is more minimalist, so I don’t reaaally need 6 or 7 jars of Guerlain meteorites etc. To help revamp/reorganize my stash as well as having some fun with the awesome friends I’ve made, I’m doing the LUV TB. It contains lots of makeup that I love but never use, altho I couldn’t bear to part with any perfumes or majority of the skincare, so you ladies will have to make up for it along the way. Keep it classy, with high end and preferably new or lightly used things. No drugstores. Since it’s got tons of expensive items, I asked people I trust who are interested, so the box is closed. If it goes well, I may do another one next year when I've accumulated enough treasures. =P Expand below to see the rules, taken from the awesome roxystar4 and slightly simplified: Spoiler (Highlight to read) * Please make sure every item is in a plastic ziplock bag to prevent spills. It's July!!! Time to start a new thread for all the amazing July hauls from you guys! Please post all your hauls, big or small, beauty or non-beauty...can't wait to see them all!! To start us off - here is a tiny sample haul from Dr. Hauschka
Hello BT! Today is August 1st and that means another month of hauls! This month is the 2x/3x/4x the points for BI,VIB and ROUGE respectively. This is a great time to stock up on points lost throughout the year! Please share your purchases! Remember, a haul is a haul no matter how big or small!
With the Rouge Event just around the corner, and money to be spent, heres my list! My current (it could grow) wishlist : With so many holding off on purchasing, and the 4x point reward, I'd love to see what people have their eye on or what they plan on hauling at the event! So....Whats on your list?!
Happy Mani Friday! Today's look is brought to you by NARS 3.1 Phillip Lim Polishes , featuring Gold Viper, a stunning platinum gold metallic. And because I'm nearly incapable of leaving well enough alone when it comes to nail art, I added Hell Bent and Other Side to the mix. What do think?
What are you rockin' on your tips this weekend? Show and Tell!
I searched around and saw storage but not many vanities. I just got my vanity in today, I'm probably going to get a chest to store everything else, because these drawers are small! They also don't open all the way. This is my set up for now. Whats your set up like?
I have a pretty comfy makeup station and I do love me my products and I pretty much use everything from soup (primer) to nuts (setting spray). But I've noticed that instead of getting faster, I'm just getting slower and sloooower in my makeup application. I really enjoy the process of putting my makeup on - it's probably my favorite part of the day. But I feel like it's taking me a ridiculously long time to do my fairly simple everyday look (I don't vary how I do my makeup TOO much from day-to-day). So I used the timer on my phone for the past three days: 42, 50, and 52 minutes! Yikes! You ladies have seen my makeup. Nothing on my face should take 52 minutes! I know I take a long time doing my eyebrows - they're always a trouble spot for me. I'm going to TRY and speed myself up over the next few days so I can at least have more time to walk my dog in the mornings before work. So I'm curious...how long does it take YOU to do your makeup?
Congratulations my friend!! A great accomplishment and a well deserved one. Thank you for all your "palette recipes" Anyone who knows her, knows how helpful, knowledgeable, sweet, funny and great to hang out with she is! Grab a drink and join m3rma1d's Hall of Fame party!!!!
A while back I had made a look using the colors of the stray cat that took shelter in my home, I've fed and given her water ever since. This is the second time she's had kittens, unfortunately the last litter didn't survive and from what I know she only had two this time but only one has made it to the barely opening eyes stage. She had them on July 1st. I haven't named the kitty yet, but here's a picture of his(I'm thinking it's a he) cuteness. Taken today.
We've all been there...a bag full of unused or disappointing make up from the drug store, which I still like but without the ability to try before buy you end up with a lot of fails. Then you find Sephora and wonder, is the price worth it? You try a few things, you like a few things, you see the price tag and tell yourself: "Eh, I can go with ramen noddles for a week to afford this." And then you buy it. What was your first purchase? Why did you choose it? I always like hearing other stories like this. Share on!
So I'd like to maintain a board for the Canadian customers. A place where we can share our events, promos, problems etc. I sometimes see deals and info for Canadians and rather then posting a new convo all the time maybe we can just share on this board. I think it would be easier to communicate with each other if we only had one board to follow. - I recently posted that Nail Polish Canada has free shipping on any orders for a limited time. EDITED: Anyone interested in getting Tonymoly products you can contact them via their Canadian Facebook page to place an order. 5$ shipping, free over purchases 50$. I think they have a store in Pacific Mall in Markham ON Tarte now ships to Canada!
Hello there, ladies and gents! Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask: "What's on your plate?" The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween! For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet. Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water. For lunch today, I had: -Brown rice -Steamed egg -Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper -Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens) Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have?
I was at a friends last night and we ended up watching episode after episode of hoarders which was shocking and frightening at the same time. Today I read a comment asking to see my makeup collection so I pulled out my palettes out of their respective drawers for a photo and realized I have more than I thought. Also I realized how anxious I was about my hubby coming up and seeing how many I own. needless to say, they went back very quickly! I'm wondering if this is too many or if I'm just sitting pretty. I do use them all save for the nars ones. how many palettes do you own? do you use them all?
Are there any phrases and/or words that you think are overused and are starting to bug the heck out of you? The one that is getting on my nerves the most is "curated". For example, "this makeup line was curated by our beauty editor." I just feel it's so over the top and pompous. Also, the word "sweet" instead of "cool". I actually heard a woman who had to be at least 75 years old using it. I laughed so hard I almost fell over.
I've been on the Ipsy waiting list, but still look at the thread. I thought we could have a shared thread from all the subscription boxes (including non-beauty ones likes underpants and lifestyle such as Wantable and POPSugar). That way we can live vicariously through each others goodies! (I know there are unboxing videos on YouTube, but I do not have the patience to sit through a five minute video about someone apologizing for the state of their hair. And I know there are blogs where I can see photos, but everyone usually gets different items in their boxes)
Come and let everyone know if you've done a trade with someone or they've been an awesome TSB contributor! Let's give kudos to our BT BFFs! So a post could be one persons feedback on another, how a trade went, did they ship quickly, etc. and others could reply if they dealt with the same person and how their trade went.
TRADE THREAD #2 Looking for items? Please see the original thread here too. http://community.sephora.com/t5/Off-Topic/Product- Trade-Thread-01-2014-Upon-Request/td-p/986647 GUIDELINES Please list what you have available, the condition, add a photo, and what you are interested in for trade. May want to mention your location, such as U.S. When something you have to offer is no longer available please go back and edit your post. There is a convenient cross through text option. If you relist, please return to remove the text from your original post so that forum searches are more accurate! Please use discretion with whom you enter into trades with. If it's someone who's relatively new here maybe have them send to you first. Maybe set yourself up some guidelines in your post (they have to be VIB, have 100 posts etc...) about to whom you'll send to first/at the same time and anyone who doesn't meet those needs to send to you before you'll send your stuff out. (Tips thanks to Kalex.) Please note that some "fake" brand products have come up, please take precautions to find out where items have been purchased and DO NOT HESITATE to request additional photos that might help verify authenticity. Please consider using the Private Messages system on Beauty Talk to help ensure someone knows you are trying to contact them. You can set up to receive an email when you get a PM in your preferences. You can also access your messages by looking under your profile on the left side of the main Beauty Talk page under your avatar and clicking on the envelope. SUCCESSFUL TRADE EXPERIENCES? ok, story time. are there any specific trends you took part in--or habits you too part of--only to look back and think 'WHAT WAS I THINKING?!'. it may be embarrassing, it may be humorous, either way--it's one of the more entertaining elements of beauty/makeup that we can only learn to fully understand (and appreciate !) with hindsight. in the early 2000s i hated the fact i was pale, so i was often a victim of the earlish days of the self tanner craze. i remember thinking it was MAGIC, only to to notice the next day in fresh daylight that i had bright orange streaks running down my calf. and you'd think that would've taught me my lesson but i'd just pretend like it wasn't there and continued on with it for months. another was the disaster at my attempt at a glossy eyelids (posted about more thoroughly in the 'what was your first sephora purchase' thread). and i'll add more to these 'confessions' as i remember more ! just to note: this is all in good-spirited nostalgic fun, and NOT to demean anyone's tastes or experiences.
Happy National Lipstick Day, BT! In honor of this very special day (we take makeup holidays very seriously around these parts), I grabbed some luxe lip looks from The Beauty Board to give us a little lipspiration.
What lippie are you wearing today, BeautyTalkers? Show and Tell!
Btw, have you check out The Beauty Board yet? We've got some seriously talented folks posting (and some BTers too!).
But I warn you, it's a serious beauty wonderland over there. Don't blame me if you fall down the rabbit hole and don't come out for hours!
I know this may sound harsh, but I really dislike all drugstore makeup. I'm sure there are many products out that are of great quality, even better than some high end makeup, but I have never found a drugstore product that I have liked. I've tried primers, foundations, powders, eye shadows, eye liners, mascaras, lipsticks, lip glosses, and lip stains, but each product has left me disappointed. I've also tried makeup removers from the drugstore, but they also left me disappointed. Does anyone else dislike drugstore makeup? I've stopped trying drugstore makeup all together now because every product has left me disappointed; which led to quite a bit of money being wasted. I only get high end makeup now because I am rarely ever disappointed with my purchases.
I am sure we all have some products that we use the most and then we "run" to Sephora (or other stores) to repurchase and stock up on it, with a thought - "Just in case or I am about to finish up my other one, so I might as well pick up a back up now... etc" . What are your most used products, the ones you know you'll go and repurchase no matter what? Mine are: - Anastasia Brow Wiz - ohh boy - this is one of my little fave things that I use the most and I buy few of them a year, just because I use it so often. - Nars Creamy Consealer - does its job, so smooth and gives me the coverage I need! - When Travelmate face masque <3 - so amazing, portable, and travel safe/mess free!!
I just put in an order for the Marc Jacobs gel liner just because the YourGift code was populating a Acqua Di Parma Blu Meditterraneo Sampler Box of five of their scents. After August I need to put myself on a no-buy. '>.<'
If you had $1000 to spend on beauty products, what would you buy?! I would get Tom Ford eye shadow palette in Orchid Haze Tom Ford brushes Hakuhodo brushes more NARS Sheer Glow Marc Jacobs Mousse foundation (i really want to try it) Bobbi Brown BBU palette Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette
