I am currently a Beauty Insider and I need to spend about $150 to reach VIB. Do I need to spend the $150 by January in order to reach VIB for the following year? The dates confuse me so I am not sure if my points towards VIB completely reset in January.
I have recently discovered that Sephora doesn't accept international credit cards or billing addresses, that has confused me as I have used my debit card and billing address to purchase items in the past and even though both aren't American, and it has worked..... and with updating the billing address it does have all the countries of the world as an option to put down. So my question is, Has Sephora changed and is now accepting the non US billing addresses and credit cards or does it remain the same as before, and accepted me for an unknown reason?
I read on a post a couple weeks ago there would be a $20 off $50 promotion in December, is this true? My brother has a 20% discount December 5th-6th, and I'd like to know because if there isn't, then i'll purchase all my products/gifts on those days.
If you frequent a sephora that is in a shopping mall, sometimes the mall website will have discounts if you subscribe to their email list! I subscribed to my mall mailing list online and got a coupon for a $10 shopping mall gift card with a purchase of $75 at any store in the mall. (Not hard to do at Sephora!) Check it out, hope you find some good deals!
Hi everyone, Just got back from a vacation in Las Vegas. One of our goals was to visit all the Sephora stores there, and we did! I had been to the one at the Venetian before, that is probably my favorite Sephora location as it is very large, well-stocked and the associates are great. However, we also really loved the Town Square location too! A little smaller, but not much. A big shout-out here though, the associates at this location were amazing! Friendly and fun - we had a blast with them there! And since this store is not on the Strip, there is a lot less traffic here. The store in the Forum Shops in Caesar's Palace is beautiful and has a unique look, with interesting lighting. The display of Sephora brand makeup was also different than in any other shop, it was a vertical display with a large digital screen above with rotating video. Unfortunately, at this shop, not one associate said hello or offered to help us, so it was a little disappointing. Stopped by briefly at the shop in the Miracle Mile shops at Planet Hollywood. This shop is larger than I remembered and is also a nice store. It was fun!
Calling ladiez who pick at blemishes! Sometimes when I squeeze, instead of the toothpaste-like texture that comes out, it's hard. These are more hard to extract, and the skin won't heal around it unless I really dig in there and get it out with fine tweezers (I know I shouldn't do this, but I can't stop). Sometimes this takes weeks of waiting for it to surface. Does anyone else get these little hard guys? What's the deal with them?
So i'm wondering, is there anyone out there who has actually WON the month $250 giveway for filling out the medallia customer feedback survey? Everytime I make a purchase in store I make it a point to fill out the medallia survey when I get home so I can give my feedback about my experience. Sometimes its because someone helped me out who was exceptional so I want them to get credit/feedback and other times when I've had a bad experience I want them to know so that they can improve. Of course i'm hoping that I might win $250 to spend at Sephora as well!.....Anyone out there who has ever one?
I know Kalex originally posted about this in July, but I though it was time to remind Sephora what a great idea this would be!!! I would totally join a subscription service if Sephora had one. Wouldn't that be awesome!! Come one Sephora you know you want to!
Is getting samples hit or miss - this is the 2nd time I have spent a nice amount & did not receive any samples. I appreciate the samples as it allows me to try brands that are new to me. It's a 2 hour drive so I have to plan my trips & I want to make every trip count!
Last I checked, the youngest you can be to work at Sephora is 18. I was wonder what everyone's thoughts are on this. Wow I was not expecting it to be this long, but I would really appreciate it if you read this. Personally, I would love to work at a Sephora (although being in there daily would be dangerous to my wallet) but I am only 16. I see why Sephora makes 18 their minimum age: I walk around my high school everyday and see people with brows that don't match their hair color, faces that are super cakey, and other makeup faux pas. Although it would be a dream job of a lot of girls my age and many girls would apply, few are actually qualified to give beauty advice. I also realize most of Sephora's cliental is over 18 and some people wouldn't respect the advice of an employee under the age of 18. Receiving advice from a 16 year old may make someone 20 years or older feel awkward. I understand that Sephora would want to make some of their biggest spenders feel at ease. However, I feel that not all girls under 18 commit major cosmetic errors. Some knowledgable contributors on Beauty Talk are under 18. If someone under 18 is highly motivated, hard working, respectful, mature, and above all knowledgable about makeup, Sephora would benefit from having these employees. I know only a handful of girls are in this category, but what is the harm in giving them a chance? It may be a pain to sort through applications of teens who don't have what it takes, but it would be nice for Sephora to make special cases. I have had experiences before with Sephora employees where they clearly don't know what they are talking about. Wouldn't it be better to get someone who is under eighteen but has the qualities I describe above? Please share your opinion!
Yesterday I got an email saying the Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette was back in stock (yeah!! have been trying to get this all weekend but it was out of stock when I first looked). I got right on and ordered it. Then I noticed a few hours later is was listed on the site and "out of stock" and if singed in and looked at my actual order it says on there "permanently out of stock." So my question is now that it says it is out of stock and permanently out of stock will I still get my order? I hope because I have wanted this palette from the day it came out and it is also sold out on Hourglass website as well
A friend & I went out to dinner & shopping this evening. We stopped at Sephora store in a local mall. When I checked out, they asked if I wanted my receipt printed, emailed or both. That was the first time I've been asked that. I loved it. I am forever losing receipts & love the fact it's one less piece of paper that will eventually get thrown away. I hope all Sephora stores will be offering this service in the future.
So I came out of Sephora with a negative balance (second time in two days, this is weird) but this time it was at a JCP Sephora. Can I use JCP Sephora gift cards at regular Sephoras, or just JCP Sephoras?
So I've had the pleasure of having several Customized Makeup Applications done. Most of the time I do it when I need to buy some products anyways. Since a lot of the girls aren't certified makeup artists (they instead go through a certification through Sephora) I shouldn't expect much from the makeup applications. However in my past experiences I've had wonderful makeup applications so I foolishly made another appointment. First things first - I'm really not a picky person. All I wanted was healthy looking skin and a neutral/natural look. After discussing with her for a few minutes what I wanted (natural - since there were going to be lots of photographers) But I told my artist I was open to her ideas. I had a work event right after. Against my better judgement I decided to let one of the girls do my makeup for the event... The person that did my makeup was really sweet. She was kind and personable and I had a pleasure talking to her. She suggested maybe doing a "neutral smoky eye" so I said why not. After all - it's not a hard look to do... Long story short I ended up looking like mimi from the Drew Carey show. Dark brown makeup up to my eyebrows. Heavy contouring and blush. And heres the kicker. Dark purple lipstick... Somehow my request for a natural look ended up being an opportunity for my artist to experiment since I was open/flexible to suggestion. The worst part was that I had a few imperfections on my face - nothing that a good foundation, bb cream or mineral foundation can't cover. However she didn't event put any kind of coverage on me. Only a highlighting powder... Maybe it was my fault for not being more vocal about what I really wanted. However I didn't see my makeup until the very end. So I really didn't realize how dramatic the makeup was. Honestly I was picturing a natural smoky eye with maybe a pop of lipstick (and lipstick can easily be wiped away) so I wasn't worried. But I had heavy metallic copper/brown/black eyeshadow to by brows. However - I didn't mention anything as I was still thankful the artist took the time out of her day to do my makeup. Thing is... She took so long to do it I didn't have time to run home and wash off the makeup/redo it since I had about 5-10 minutes to get to my event... When I went to the counter to pay for my stuff (that I had already picked out before the makeover) I was in such a rush I didn't notice that the girl who rang in my stuff charged me for my products and charged me for an additional $50 gift card which wasn't left in the bag... The compact mirror they usually come in was. But it was still unopened with the plastic wrap and no gift card in the bag. Im completely confused as to why I was charged an additional $50 when I was already getting some products and not even given the gift card! I'm crushed by this whole experience. Despite my best efforts to use makeup removing wipes to take off the makeup in the car on my way to the event (that I was now running late for). My skin was irritated, still had the uncovered imperfections and I had racoon eyes due to the heavy eye makeup application. Worst part is there was about 15 photographers at the event. So now I'm constantly reminded of the fact I looked like a hungover racoon. All of this can be forgiven. Because I should've considered making more time to redo my makeup in this event... However... I called the manager at the store a few days later and explained the gift card situation. she said that I must've dropped the gift card in the mall or something because "her girls wouldn't do that" and that if I found it she'd allow me to repurchase my items using the gift card. Thing is I never found it because It wasn't even in the gift card holder! The gift card holder (a compact mirror) wasn't even unwrapped! How could they put the gift card in there? I used to love going to Sephora. I love their their products, the way the stores are merchandised makes it really easy to shop there and the people are always nice. But I'm disappointed with my most recent experience there. Because of it I don't think I will be returning and I will make it a point to tell my friends and family about my experiences.
Hello beauties, I frequent malls with both freestanding Sephora stores and Sephora inside JCP. Whenever I go, I go to both just to check out what they each have for products and perks (also because I'm crazy obsessed). I've noticed that 99.9% of the time I receive MUCH better service and friendliness at Sephora inside JCP. So, I'm curious- have others experienced the same or different? Also, what do you think are the pros and cons of each?
I am a VIB of many years and I usually shop online because I find that shopping in-store puts pressure on me to buy stuff any time I need help/advice. Today, Merly in SF Sephora shop (33 Powell St). proved me completely wrong. She was incredibly passionate about what she does and super knowledgeable. I felt zero pressure to buy anything and learned a ton. Her excitement & sense of humor made me to never want to leave (and I ended up browsing for about an hour). I wish that every in-store experience would be like that!
My local JCP (Newington, NH) is finally opening a Sephora inside! They had a soft launch last week, but their Grand Opening is tomorrow! I went in today because I wanted to scope it out, since I've never been inside a SiJCP before. It is definitely small but they had a lot of great brands: NARS, Benefit, Kat Von D, Anastasia, Boscia, Philosophy, Josie Maran, Bite, PTR, Clarisonic, Too Faced, Urban Decay, and a whole bunch of Sephora Collection. Anyway, they are giving away gift cards to the first 100 customers (worth $10-$100) and gift bags to the first 750 customers. The mall is opening a special entrance at 6am for people to stand in line - INSANE! I have a hair appointment at 10:30am and will swing by afterwards and hopefully get a gift bag. I will post tomorrow about the contents, and hopefully I can get some goodies for myself and the 4th TSB!
Hello, I have not been getting any VIB emails just the standard BI ones. Also I was in a store over the weekend and I received horrendous customer service, I am only writing about this experience as I was in a different location and the SA was the most lovely! She was so chatty, so eager to help and offer input and samples of the products I was interested in and take her time to help me find the proper color selection. Unfortunately this past weekend was not up to that standard, the SA i dealt with was snappy and condescending. She made me feel like I was a bother when I wanted to try on a blush I was hoping to purchase. I also wanted to purchase a concealer to conceal some redness around my nose and she pretty much put down that idea and pushed a CC cream on me even though I told her I wasn't really interested in that as I already have to wear a primer under my current BB cream as I am just beyond Oily. I took a sample almost to appease her and to get her to actually help me pick out a concealer. When she color matched me I told her I wasn't positive about the color match as I recently have discovered I am an NC as opposed to a NW (Mac Shade reference) and she told me to deal with it as she is the Beauty Advisor and I was not. I used the CC sample that she insisted I take and it did absolutely nothing for me! It was sticky, greasy and heavy and not what I was looking for at all!
Has anyone been to the Sephora at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut? I'm in Mystic and it's not too far off my route tomorrow. I'm wondering how big it is and whether it is worth the stop. I know I will be tired, but they are open late. I may call and see if they have the new Angel 500 pt perk. I like the perfume and would really like to find that somewhere. And I'd love a store that's big and wor looking around for a bit if I'm not too tired.
So I went to my local Sephora today: Rideau Centre, Ottawa, ON, Canada. I think I spent about 2 hours with Johnni who helped me look and try products. I have never had so much fun! He's absolutely sweet, fun, friendly and knowledgeable. Always smiling, kept asking if there was something else he could help me with. Just had a really good time. I love make-up and when someone who is passionate like him takes the time to help me, talk with me it just makes everything better. He is probably the only reason why I shop in-store. A great asset to your company. I must say that the overall customer service at that location improved. I also have to add when I walked-in I had a return, small problem and some shopping to do. I did my return first and was pretty upset that something I was told over the phone could be done now couldn't be done. I almost walked out but then I saw Johnni who had helped me once before and everything turned around. Give this guy a medal, his customer service skills are above board! Truly he deserves recognition. A++++++++++++++++++++++
