I feel like there are so many different steps to put into a skin care routine...how do I figure out what the right ones are...and in which order? Should you wash, treat, serum, moisturizer? What about all the face oils out there? Where do those come into play? I would like a routine to help with to help even out skin tone and be anti-aging as well. Help!
Okay, So I have combo oily/normal skin (oily only in t-zone) and it's some-what acne prone especially with hormones and stress. I also have those annoying little red bumps on my forehead that aren't really pimples but I'm not sure how to get rid of them (if someone can tell me how I'd be forever grateful.) Any-way I've been looking for a day time moisturizer, and right now I'm finding that my moisturizer seems to sink in but a few hours later my face will be greasy in the t-zone and especially on my forehead. Is that because I need to find a good exfoliator or something else? Which brings me to my second issue, I need a good exfoliator that is chemical instead of mechanical because I feel the mechanical does nothing for me. Cleanser I use: Philosophy Purity Made Simple And I also use Josie Maran Pure Argan oil Moisturizers I've Tried: - Clinique Dramatically Different Gel moisturizer - Bosica Self-Defense Vital Antioxidant Moisture SPF 30 - Purity Made Simple gel moisturizer (drugstore) I would prefer something non scented as well. Exfoliators I've Tried: (most have been mechanical) - Mario Badescu Strayberry exfoliator -Some drugstore St. Ives one Again I am looking for chemical not mechanical. On a side note, and recommendations for night-time moisturizers and eye creams would be appreciated. Thank you so much in advance.
Hello Sephora , I'm 17 and I have an acne problem , I've recently purchased ProActiv For the first time a couple weeks ago and it has already stopped working for my skin . I'm darkskin and I have slightly oily skin . I wanted to know what would be your best recommendation for another acne system. I also would like to cover up my acne marks and get into make-up , however no one in my family can help me when it comes to how to start and correctly apply make up , or even what brand would have my skin tone or would be best for my skin. Do you guys have any recommendations on make - up kits for beginners ( dark-skin tone ) . Thanks So Much !
Hey guys im looking for a good lotion for oily skin. Im currently using Kate Sommerville Goat Milk Cream and it was great for fall/winter but im pretty sure it wont work for summer. I wore it on a few hot days and was greasy and i think it broke me out. Any suggestions?
Can somebody weigh in regarding the differences between the three Clarins skin oils, other than what is available in the online description? I'm having a hard time choosing between the three. I have very sensitive skin, oily nose, dry cheeks, large pores here and there.
Hello! So I want to start off by talking about my struggle with skin care. I originally was using the intense hydrating toner, night, and day moisturizer from the body shop which was great and gave my skin a ton of moisture. However I felt like the product contained lots of ingredients that I didn't want on my skin and felt like it was leaving sort of a film! So multiple times I have gone into sephora looking for a new skin care routine and ending up buying the products that they recommend (are pushing for that week) only to find I have wasted money and my makeup looks cakey and gross because my skin is still dry! The last recommendation was the lotus moisturizer but I have noticed it is very drying and my makeup ended up looking worse with this product! I almost feel like there are tons of products in the market that don't do what they say and sifting through them costs a lot of money and time!! Does anyonr know of any skin care lines that have been recommended by a dermatologist or that you can recommend helps with dry skin and has more natural ingredients? I have heard of Sanistas recently but am hesitant to try it since it's not very well known!

I am on the hunt for a sort of dusty type MLB shade in a glossy stain type formula. My very favorite lip color is the nars audacious in Anna, but I can't find anything similar in tone in other formulations. I had high hopes for the dior fluidstick in kiss me, but I guess my lips are moreigmented than I thought because it just kind of washes them out. I also tried the ysl tint in oil in the mauve shade, but it turns bright pink on me. Any suggestions?
Hi all! This is super embarrassing but I really don't know where else to ask! So I've been noticing that my legs have all of these red bumps on them. Mostly on my thighs but it goes down to my calves as well. They are also extremely itchy! Sometimes I can't sleep because they itch so much and on of my legs I made it bleed. I have started to shave less hoping that it was razor burn but that has not helped at all. I have also been putting on lotion like crazy hoping it was due to dry skin, but again... nothing! Anyone else have this problem and find a cure? It's getting worse and worse and it's getting embarrassing, especially with summer coming up
I have sensitive, oily, and acne prone skin. I use epiduo at night for the acne and hydroquinone for hyperpigmentation. My dermatologist recommended that I use a gentle non medicated cleanser twice a day so what cleanser do you recommend?
I have mild KP on my face, and while it has never really bothered me that much (since I can just cover it with a lot of makeup) I want to finally do something about it. My skin is normal to dry, and not very sensitive. I currently use my Clarisonic daily, which helps a little, but it's not quite enough. Does anyone have any product recommendations that are safe to use on the face?!
I am only 30 but I am starting to get lines on my forehead, a line in between my brows and the parentheses around my mouth are starting with one more noticeable then the other. I am noticing a little difference after I started using Dr. Brandt's crease release but am looking for something else to use with it to maybe enhance it. I do not currently use a serum as the PTR and Kate Somerville(oil free versions) both broke me out. The Tarte Oil broke me out horribly as well. Looking at the Korres black pine line because of my sensitive acne prone skin type. I am interested in the sephora black pine set but that doesn't include the serum. Would using the Dr. Brandt's crease release with the Korres day/night cream be too much? Should I try the serum? Anyone have any other suggestions?
Want to pick this up for the last day of the sale. Does anyone have any experience with this product and can give me advice on rather to get tropical days or tropical nights? I'm thinking Days since I have light skin tone but I don't want it to be too light.. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Hi, I am currently using ELDW in 2C1 and would like to change to the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation. What would be a good color match. I was using ELDW in 2N1 but it is a little yellow for my skin. Thank-You so much for your assistance!
So I have super dry skin. When I say dry I mean kind of scaly looking and yes I drink TONS of water and keep hydrated. As for my skin care routine I wash (Fresh soy cleanser in the morning and Philosophy purity made simple at night) and moisturize twice a day, sometimes exfoliate in the morning with dermalogica daily microfoliant if my skin is looking particularly rough, use origins drink up intensive overnight mask and exfoliate twice a week alternating between a chemical exfoliant and origins modern friction. Luckily it's finally starting to get a little better and I think it's thank to Embryolisse. I haven't been using it long and i'm really hoping it won't break me out, I have problems with cystic acne around the jaw, those pesky little bumps under the skin that never come to a head and just sit there. I use a topical acne treatment which i'm sure didn't help with my already dry skin. ANYWAY to get to the point of this whole thing, I'm looking for a serum to supplement my routine. I purchased the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II and have been using it for about a month but it doesn't seem to be having much of an effect, any suggestions? Sorry, I realize this dragged on with a whole lot of information that is most likely unnecessary. Thanks in advance for your help!!!
I don't understand why so many brands put their products in jars. It drives me crazy! Either I have to dip my finger in the product to get it out, or get a spatula that constantly needs cleaned- and it's messy. Plus, I've heard that while the jar is open, the active ingredients can break down (don't know how much truth there is in that, though.) So, what is the reason for brands using heavy, inconvenient jars instead of a pump? Does anyone prefer a jar over a pump? I think that some of the products with pumps are just as elegant looking as the jars. Personally, I am much more likely to purchase something with a pump, and have passed on a product just because it comes in a jar (but if it is something that people are really raving about, I might buy it just to satisfy my curiosity.)
Hi, I'm only 20 years old and I've been battling deep, genetic, under eye bags for years now. They aren't particularly dark circles and they aren't puffy, but deep lines that do not cover and make my eyes look sunken. I was told genetic eye bags are harder to get rid of and have seen no results in any product I've used. Most recently, I've been using the Benefit It's Potent product(for a couple month's, at least once a day), and haven't seen any results with lines. What will work??
Hello! I have been looking for a new skin care regimine and have been out of luck after buying expensive recommendations that do nothing at all. My skin is very dry but I don't like an extremely dewy look with my makeup! I have heard of the Sanitas skin care and although it is not well known I have heard great reviews, has anyone tried this line or have a recommendation for other products in an dry skin care routine?
I have a lot of acne on my cheeks. I need a good acne treatment to get rid of the redness and acne. Also what is my foundation the problem for my acne? If so, what is the best foundation to use since I have acne.
Hello everyone I'm 18, almost 19, but I'm already interested in starting to use some anti-aging products mostly as a preventative measure. I already use moisturizer every day and the Philosophy Hope in a jar for eyes which I really like. Are there any other products you would recommend that I could add on to my regimen to help prevent aging? Btw my skin is oily and sometimes sensitive.
I was just diagnosed with Basal Cell Carcinoma (a skin cancer) on the bridge of my nose. I have to have it removed on May 12 and I would like to know the best products I can use to lessen the appearance of the scar, and to protect my skin from future sun damage. It is a very small spot and the doctor said he will make the cut go sideways so it will blend in with any natural wrinkles I have. I'm 56 and don't have many wrinkles yet but I really would like to minimize the scar as it heals. I would also like to find a foundation/moisturizer with an SPF of at least 30. I prefer something completely natural. Thank you for any suggestions and recommendations.
A few days ago, a makeup artist did a makeover for me and she used face primer (those silicone type) on my eyes. I was horrified but I didn't want to say anything in case she felt insulted since she's the one who studied makeup.. Now I'm really regretting because I have milia on my eyelids. How can I get rid of them (without extractions)? On a side note: I gave my friend the Too Faced shadow insurance to use as an eye primer but she ignored it and went ahead to use her own face primer on my eyes. Makeup artists.. do you feel offended if your client gave you their own products to use? I previously told the makeup artist that my skin was extremely sensitive and prefer to use my own products..
