Legs problem
Hi all! This is super embarrassing but I really don't know where else to ask!   So I've been noticing that my legs have all of these red bumps on them. Mostly on my thighs but it goes down to my calves as well. They are also extremely itchy! Sometimes I can't sleep because they itch so much and on of my legs I made it bleed. I have started to shave less hoping that it was razor burn but that has not helped at all. I have also been putting on lotion like crazy hoping it was due to dry skin, but again... nothing!    Anyone else have this problem and find a cure? It's getting worse and worse and it's getting embarrassing, especially with summer coming up

SKINCARE HGs !
i've seen this type of question asked more generally, but i wanted to ask it specific to skincare. not only is it interesting to see what has really worked for people, but it'll maybe highlight some products others are interested in trying !   so: what are specific  products that would cause you to hyperventilate were you to run out ?   mine currently are:   cleansers CLINIQUE take the day off cleansing balm (makeup removal) NUDE SKINCARE perfect cleanse omega cleansing jelly (skin cleanser) toners (acids & hydrating) FIRST AID BEAUTY facial radiance pads (AHA) CAUDALIE beauty elixir (moisture) MURAD essential-c toner (moisture) oils and serums CLARINS blue orchid facial oil TATA HARPER nutrient replenishing complex (oil) VICHY aqualia thermal serum (serum for dehydration) moisturizers AVEDA botanical kinetics hydrating face lotion masks (i like to have an arsenal for different purposes) REN glycol lactic radiance renewal mask (resurfacing) OLE HENRIKSEN lemon strip flash peel (resurfacing: hardcore) PETER THOMAS ROTH cucumber mask (hydrating / soothing; great for summer) FIRST AID BEAUTY ultra repair instant oatmeal mask (hydrates /soothes; fantastic for winter) FIRST AID BEAUTY skin rescue purifying mask w/ red clay (deep cleaning)   additionally, a couple products that may reach HG status soon, but need more time in my rotation: TATA HARPER replenishing nutrient complex (oil) added ! TATCHA cleansing oil   can't believe i'm saying this but: it broke me out ????  or it was unlucky timing, but i'm too scared to keep using it. NUDE SKINCARE miracle mask (exfoliating / brightening)** i love this mask. i don't think it'll be HG though as i generally prefer the REN. they're pretty interchangeable though. i consider it a very close 1st runner up ! to be fair...i think this is a LOT to be considered truly HG. but you guys know i have a lot of steps in my daily routine, and these are tried-and-true loves of mine !   edited 4/1/15

What are the consequences of using rubbing alcohol directly on your face?
I went recently on vacation with a couple of friends so we got plenty of time to discuss our makeup and skin care routines. I found out one of them uses rubbing alcohol directly on her face after cleansing and my other friend I were quite shocked to be honest but she shut us up and told us it works amazingly for her skin and if she doesn’t use it, she breaks out terribly. I’d like to explain to her that is bad for her skin but I don’t know how so I’m asking you lovely BTers for a little help.      Thanks in advance, Yackie.

Oddly, I received an email shortly after I had commented in a post about how I wasn't that concerned about not having receiving anything free from Sephora. I noted that, although it would certainly be neat to get a free thing, I certainly was not upset about not getting any. Seriously no biggie. Then I got an email that i would be receiving a Free Thing!    I don't have a big wrinkle problem (silver lining to oily skin), but at age 41 I do have a few small wrinkles I'd like to address. GIVE YOURSELF A FACIAL (COLD WEATHER EDITION)
ok, so i've been thinking of what 'angle' to take for this thread. i'm not talking anything too hardcore, here. but i figured it could be a thread that inspires and informs the little "treats" we can give to our skin with the products a lot of us have at home.   with the massive shift in weather this past week, my skin freaked out. it was so, so thirsty, as the cool air mixed with dry blasts of hot hair sucked all the moisture out. it was a double whammy for me because this cold front coincided with my skin's most vulnerable time of the month (if ya catch my drift).   so when i got home from work yesterday, i...got to work. i wanted to hydrate hydrate hydrate, and soooothe. this is what i used:     took makeup off with a balm. shown here is my usual clinique take the day off balm--i ended up using my boots botanics balm as it's just a bit more rich, which is what i wanted for these purposes. any balm would do though ! removed with warm water and a washcloth. dried skin then second cleansed with an oily non-foamy cleanser. my current FAVORITE cleanser, NUDE  omega jelly. god i love it. massaged for a couple minutes then rinsed. (not pictured, but) i think did a VERY LIGHT exfoliation to ensure my skin was rid of any dead skin hanging about after being dried out. i used AVEDA botanical kinetics exfoliant (a liquid with salicylic acid) PETER THOMAS ROTH cucumber mask. what i love about this mask is how soothing it is. it's NOT hardcore. i put this on then proceeded to watch a movie or something. you can leave it on for as long as you'd like. i think i had it on for 30-45 minutes. then i took it off with lukewarm water and a wash cloth. my skin already felt so. much. better. i then used my new murad hydrating toner. i could've used this before the mask. but what's cool about it is that it helps your skin retain moisture as well as help balance pH levels. but any sort of hydrating toner / floral spritz would do. (caudalie beauty elixir, a rose water, etc) serum. i wanted to use a "hydra" serum--any sort of serum that helps with retaining water. i used this vichy aqualia thermal. caudalie s.o.s thirst quenching serum is also fantastic. oil -- i used my beloved clarins blue orchid oil. i put it on my drier cheeks, but actually...i also used it for a bit of spot treatment. i was getting a pimple below my lip, and now, no more pimple ! moisturizer. as my skin was severely dehydrated (rather than dry) i used my aveda botanical kinetics moisturizer: the first ingredient is water (hydrating) and the second ingredient is aloe (soothing).  hours later i spritzed some beauty elixir and applied more moisturizer before bed. and today my skin is back to normal !!   so...this is a sort of routine you can loosely follow (plug in whatever products into the steps) if you're skin is needing a bit of help with feeling tight / dry / thirsty.   i'd like this to be a sort of thread people can use for a reference to see others' product recommendations or methods. all skins are different, so what are your tricks ?

New Glamglow FLASHMUD mask to be released this summer!!!
New GlamGlow Flashmud mask to be released this summer in June according to the sneak peak/tease that was posted on their facebook page!!!   UPDATE!!! GlamGlow facebook page just posted a link to a InStyle dot com  review on this product.   Some of the things they wrote are:   "Flashmud is jam-packed with potent ingredients like white birch leaf, white wild rose flower, lactic acid derived from sugarcane, and white peony root among many other glow-inducing actives, which give an immediate luminous effect as soon as you wash the mask off."   "The mud itself has tiny exfoliating granules blended into the formula, which act as a pre-mask scrub; you can literally work the mud in circular motions on your face to open your pores and allow more ingredients to be absorbed, then allow your complexion to soak in its magic for 10 minutes"     What are your thoughts ?

Exfoliating Powders!
I really love to use exfoliating cleansers. I truly loved, loved, loved the Laura Mercier, Flawless Skin Face Polish, and gave used it for about 4 years.  I was so very disappointed that it has been discontinued.  I would like to know, has this product only been discontinued in the Sephora stores or by Laura Mercier completely?   When I found out I could no longer get this product I started looking around on this web site and I found, "exfoliating powders", there were only a few of these powders but they were quite pricy!  Then I found the Sephora brand...Metamorphosis Exfoliating Powder, only to find out that this has been discontinued!  I bought one of the jars, immediately went home and tried it, then went back and bought 3 more jars and if I see a jar in the stores ever again, I will buy it until they are completely gone from the stores!   This powder is so great!  You can mix it with your regular cleanser and you can even mix it with a little bit of water!  It is even better than the Laura Mercier product that I used for so long.  Now I have to find another exfoliating product!  I'm guessing that these 2 products are being discontinued because of poor sales...that's just to bad...they were so good!

Hi! So, I've been trying a sample of the GlamGlow Supercleanse Daily Clearing Cleanser since I'm in the market for a new cleanser. I have combination/oily/sensitive skin and my chin gets easily congested (I know it's hormonal based and I am taking birth control for it, but it still gets congested). PocketDerm - Online Dermatology for Anti-aging and Acne!
I recently shared a bargain on the Deals thread for PocketDerm, a service I started using recently. I know several BT members were curious about it, so I'm starting this thread to share my experience, my ongoing results, and so on. Feel free to ask questions, chime in if you're using PocketDerm, and share your experiences and results if you decide to start!     My PocketDerm Discovery Spoiler (Highlight to read) I was reading the FutureDerm blog which often has posts about teledermatology (dermatologists practicing remotely, using patient-supplied photos to diagnose and prescribe), and I became curious and went on a Google jag (anyone else do this?). I stumbled upon a Reddit AMA with the founders of PocketDerm-- two dermatologists who seemed determined to make dermatology more accessible. I thought the idea was brilliant, so I checked out the site.   I attempted to sign up, but it wasn't available in my state yet (the dermatologists need to acquire licensure in every state in which they offer services). I requested that PocketDerm contact me when it was available in Virginia, and I received notification six months later. I signed up without hesitation. You submit a minimum of three photos of your face: two profile shots, and face-forward shot.  You complete a personal history, outlining your current medications, skin care routine, previous use of dermatological prescriptions, and any concerns you may have. Your dermatologist looks at your photos, requests more if necessary, asks questions, and either prescribes a PocketDerm medication or sends an Rx to your pharmacy. You submit new photos every 90 days. You can contact your dermatologist with any questions you have along the way. You can customize shipment frequency to your specifications. It costs $20 a month (billed $60 every three months) to cover a formal consultation, all questions and troubleshooting, and a customized medication. I have to say that I abuse her! What I mean is, I contact her a lot. Anytime I'm interested in a new product, I consult her about whether it will work with my medication. She is so helpful!   I initially told her I had been using Paula's Choice 1% Retinol, so she started me on a higher percentage of tretinoin to start. I'm at 0.07% now, and my skin is very happy!   So far, with my five months of using their medication, I have noticed a reduction in fine lines. It's not drastic, but it's definite. More results than I've seen from any other anti-aging product. I even noticed a reduction in blemishes and scars, and when I do get the occasional (hormonal) pimple, it heals quickly.   I'm definitely sticking with this stuff. Cleansing Milk Showdown!! What's your fav?
Skin story: Oily T-zone, but since Im prone to acne, I tend to overindulge in cleansers/creams (w/ Salicylic acid) that leave my skin crazy dry. To combat my mistakes in life, I rely on cleansing milks to remove my makeup and leave my skin soft and moisturized.    I used to be an avid user of boascia's cleansing milk, but that line got discontinued. I then started using sephora soothing milk cleanser. It was ok.. but I wasn't in love. Now I'm searching for a new milk cleanser. Below are what I'm considering. What's your vote? What other suggestions do you have?   Candidates: Ren ever calm, Clinque cleansing milk, Caudalie, Bliss clog dissolving.   ***needs to remove make up and moisturized skin.   Thanks! xx

Biggest Skincare Regret Purchase?
Around this past Christmas and Black Friday I spent several hundred dollars on vamping up my skincare routine, I bought lots of sets from Sephora as well as a few other companies, one of the biggest product regrets I had was changing my eye makeup remover. I tried one from Sephora, one from Caudalie, one from Fresh and I absolutely hated them all. I just ended up going back to my original form of removal which is coconut oil. However, I hate this too because its such a big jar. Sigh.    Anyone else have product nightmare stories they want to share? doesn't necessarily have to be skincare, my second biggest regret purchase was the Benefit They're Real Mascara.

SKINCARE: GATEWAY PRODUCTS ?
with the popularity of the "skincare regrets" thread, i thought i'd make a post discussing "gateway" products that contributed to your learning what your skin likes.   i have a few. for cleanser, the BOOTS botanics hot cloth balm was a revelation for me because it was the first time i tried a balm cleanser--and  essentially any sort of cleanser that didn't leave my skin tight and stripped. it completely shifted my perspective of approaching skincare as skin care rather than skin punish .    the AVEDA botanical kinetics exfoliant was my first acid toner i used after cleansing / before moisturizer and i saw a marked improvement. i now use primarily AHAs rather than the BHA (salicylic acid) that is in the AVEDA, but upon my first purchase i didn't even really know the difference. i was soon down the rabbit hole that is skincare   and lastly, KIEHL'S midnight recovery concentrate was the first facial oil i'd ever used. it taught me my skin liked oils--and i stopped searching for only oil-free products. i woke up with skin feeling supple and i thought "ohhhhh" . i also applied it directly to a in-the-skin-never-completely-goes-away spot on my chin. within 2 hours it came to a head and i never saw it again. this eventually led me to my beloved CLARINS blue orchid oil. and the rest is history.    how about you ?

Flaking eyelids. Anyone else have odd issues crop up and how did you solve them?
My eyelids freaked out!  They looked like I had pink eyeshadow on and started to flake.  I have no idea why….no new eye cream or concealer…and only on the top not bottom lid.  I suspect an old sample of eye shadow a very nice SA at another store, not Sephora, gave me.  The last of a totally prized and long out of stock eye shadow.  It probably houses a whole civilization. Anyone else have odd, non-recuring and inexplainable beauty issues (or even a crisis) and how did you solve it. I used oil on my lids which made my eyes water for a few minutes but fixed the problem.

Honestly the others aren't nearly as effective and if I'd known the pumpkin mask was so good I would've just purchased it alone. Nevertheless at the time the bundle was on sale for like $35 which was a great value because each mask was 1.7oz. Anyway, no store-bought item has ever felt this way on my face! I use the pumpkin mask once a week after cleaning my face and I get this amazing tingle similar to when I have a clinical peel done on my face. Not to mention the exfoliating properties are amazing considering there's no need for you to do this aggressive scrubbing to your face. I smooth it on, leave it for about 5 minutes and wash it off. My face instantly feels smoother, cleaner and looks clearer. I follow up immediately with moisturizer or I'll use the cucumber mask afterwards if my face feels a little tender. I was thinking maybe it might not be so great for someone with sensitive skin but overall I think it's amazing for someone like me who wears makeup everyday, has oily skin and enlarged & clogged pores. I hope this product never gets discontinued...did I mention it really smells like pumpkin!!

So I was looking on the Foreo website about their products, and stumbled upon their Luxe and Platinum versions...for $6,500 and $8,800, respectively!!! I couldn't believe it! What is the most ridiculous beauty product you have seen?     EDIT:  should say FOREO..maybe I'm in a golfing mood! lol
