GlamGlow Supercleanse Reaction
Hi! So, I've been trying a sample of the GlamGlow Supercleanse Daily Clearing Cleanser since I'm in the market for a new cleanser. I have combination/oily/sensitive skin and my chin gets easily congested (I know it's hormonal based and I am taking birth control for it, but it still gets congested). I can get cystic pimples pretty easily there. After using it for 3-4 days at night only, I've been getting a pretty bad reaction to it. My whole face burns, and bumps are appearing on my face with some white heads too. The area around my lips also became super dry. Anyone else have this kind of reaction to it? I've also been trying Thirstycleanse and that hasn't given me any reaction at all, it's quite nice actually.

Age Spots Advice
In preparation for my mom's bday brunch this spring, I want to buy her something that will help diminish her aging spots that are really bothering her.   She has fair colored skin with light brown spots, and she has been wanting to do something about it that doesn't require lasers.  Any advice would be great!   Thanks

Sunday Riley Good Genes? Can dark skin tone use high % of lactic acid (40%)
I have been using Sunday Riley luna sleeping oil for almost 2 months now, and I really like it. Now I am interested in trying Sunday Riley Good genes. I heard it work well with Luna. However I also heard that deeper skin tone should not use gycolic or lactic peel. My skin tone is tan-dark, and since Good Genes is 40% lactic acid, I am wondering if I can still use it.  I combination skin type which tends to be really oily during the summer. PocketDerm - Online Dermatology for Anti-aging and Acne!
I recently shared a bargain on the Deals thread for PocketDerm, a service I started using recently. I know several BT members were curious about it, so I'm starting this thread to share my experience, my ongoing results, and so on. Feel free to ask questions, chime in if you're using PocketDerm, and share your experiences and results if you decide to start!     My PocketDerm Discovery Spoiler (Highlight to read) I was reading the FutureDerm blog which often has posts about teledermatology (dermatologists practicing remotely, using patient-supplied photos to diagnose and prescribe), and I became curious and went on a Google jag (anyone else do this?). I stumbled upon a Reddit AMA with the founders of PocketDerm-- two dermatologists who seemed determined to make dermatology more accessible. I thought the idea was brilliant, so I checked out the site.   I attempted to sign up, but it wasn't available in my state yet (the dermatologists need to acquire licensure in every state in which they offer services). I requested that PocketDerm contact me when it was available in Virginia, and I received notification six months later. I signed up without hesitation. I signed up without hesitation.   How PocketDerm Works Spoiler (Highlight to read) In the beginning, you must choose from either Acne treatment or Anti-Aging treatment; if you feel you require both, PocketDerm recommends subscribing to  the Acne treatment service and talking with your assigned dermatologist about making your prescription reflect your interest in anti-aging as well. You submit a minimum of three photos of your face: two profile shots, and face-forward shot.  You complete a personal history, outlining your current medications, skin care routine, previous use of dermatological prescriptions, and any concerns you may have. Your dermatologist looks at your photos, requests more if necessary, asks questions, and either prescribes a PocketDerm medication or sends an Rx to your pharmacy. You submit new photos every 90 days. You can contact your dermatologist with any questions you have along the way. You can customize shipment frequency to your specifications. It costs $20 a month (billed $60 every three months) to cover a formal consultation, all questions and troubleshooting, and a customized medication. It costs a different amount if you'd prefer only the consultation and the Rx from your pharmacy. I have to say that I abuse her! What I mean is, I contact her a lot. Anytime I'm interested in a new product, I consult her about whether it will work with my medication. She is so helpful!   I initially told her I had been using Paula's Choice 1% Retinol, so she started me on a higher percentage of tretinoin to start. The formula was very gentle, but I still started by applying it every other night to work up my tolerance. My skin took to the medication like a champ, and I requested a tretinoin boost the very next consultation. I'm at 0.07% now, and my skin is very happy!   So far, with my five months of using their medication, I have noticed a reduction in fine lines. It's not drastic, but it's definite. More results than I've seen from any other anti-aging product. I even noticed a reduction in blemishes and scars, and when I do get the occasional (hormonal) pimple, it heals quickly.   I'm definitely sticking with this stuff. Cleansing Milk Showdown!! What's your fav?
Skin story: Oily T-zone, but since Im prone to acne, I tend to overindulge in cleansers/creams (w/ Salicylic acid) that leave my skin crazy dry. To combat my mistakes in life, I rely on cleansing milks to remove my makeup and leave my skin soft and moisturized.    I used to be an avid user of boascia's cleansing milk, but that line got discontinued. I then started using sephora soothing milk cleanser. It was ok.. but I wasn't in love. Now I'm searching for a new milk cleanser. Below are what I'm considering. What's your vote? What other suggestions do you have?   Candidates: Ren ever calm, Clinque cleansing milk, Caudalie, Bliss clog dissolving.   ***needs to remove make up and moisturized skin.   Thanks! xx

I recently purchased some Boscia oil blotting that were lavender scented. All I can say is ewwwww..... I expected them to be lightly scented, but they were so overpowering. New Glamglow FLASHMUD mask to be released this summer!!!
New GlamGlow Flashmud mask to be released this summer in June according to the sneak peak/tease that was posted on their facebook page!!!   UPDATE!!! GlamGlow facebook page just posted a link to a InStyle dot com  review on this product.   Some of the things they wrote are:   "Flashmud is jam-packed with potent ingredients like white birch leaf, white wild rose flower, lactic acid derived from sugarcane, and white peony root among many other glow-inducing actives, which give an immediate luminous effect as soon as you wash the mask off."   "The mud itself has tiny exfoliating granules blended into the formula, which act as a pre-mask scrub; you can literally work the mud in circular motions on your face to open your pores and allow more ingredients to be absorbed, then allow your complexion to soak in its magic for 10 minutes"     What are your thoughts ?

Flaking eyelids. Anyone else have odd issues crop up and how did you solve them?
My eyelids freaked out!  They looked like I had pink eyeshadow on and started to flake.  I have no idea why….no new eye cream or concealer…and only on the top not bottom lid.  I suspect an old sample of eye shadow a very nice SA at another store, not Sephora, gave me.  The last of a totally prized and long out of stock eye shadow.  It probably houses a whole civilization. Anyone else have odd, non-recuring and inexplainable beauty issues (or even a crisis) and how did you solve it. I used oil on my lids which made my eyes water for a few minutes but fixed the problem.

PTR Pumpkin Enzyme Mask...
My latest skincare obsession..I absolutely love this stuff! The pumpkin mask came as part of a set of 3 masks that included a cell-renewing rose mask and a cucumber mask. Honestly the others aren't nearly as effective and if I'd known the pumpkin mask was so good I would've just purchased it alone. Nevertheless at the time the bundle was on sale for like $35 which was a great value because each mask was 1.7oz. Anyway, no store-bought item has ever felt this way on my face! I use the pumpkin mask once a week after cleaning my face and I get this amazing tingle similar to when I have a clinical peel done on my face. Not to mention the exfoliating properties are amazing considering there's no need for you to do this aggressive scrubbing to your face. I smooth it on, leave it for about 5 minutes and wash it off. My face instantly feels smoother, cleaner and looks clearer. I follow up immediately with moisturizer or I'll use the cucumber mask afterwards if my face feels a little tender. I was thinking maybe it might not be so great for someone with sensitive skin but overall I think it's amazing for someone like me who wears makeup everyday, has oily skin and enlarged & clogged pores. I hope this product never gets discontinued...did I mention it really smells like pumpkin!!

SKINCARE: GATEWAY PRODUCTS ?
with the popularity of the "skincare regrets" thread, i thought i'd make a post discussing "gateway" products that contributed to your learning what your skin likes.   i have a few. for cleanser, the BOOTS botanics hot cloth balm was a revelation for me because it was the first time i tried a balm cleanser--and  essentially any sort of cleanser that didn't leave my skin tight and stripped. it completely shifted my perspective of approaching skincare as skin care rather than skin punish .    the AVEDA botanical kinetics exfoliant was my first acid toner i used after cleansing / before moisturizer and i saw a marked improvement. i now use primarily AHAs rather than the BHA (salicylic acid) that is in the AVEDA, but upon my first purchase i didn't even really know the difference. i was soon down the rabbit hole that is skincare   and lastly, KIEHL'S midnight recovery concentrate was the first facial oil i'd ever used. it taught me my skin liked oils--and i stopped searching for only oil-free products. i woke up with skin feeling supple and i thought "ohhhhh" . i also applied it directly to a in-the-skin-never-completely-goes-away spot on my chin. within 2 hours it came to a head and i never saw it again. this eventually led me to my beloved CLARINS blue orchid oil. and the rest is history.    how about you ?

Biggest Skincare Regret Purchase?
Around this past Christmas and Black Friday I spent several hundred dollars on vamping up my skincare routine, I bought lots of sets from Sephora as well as a few other companies, one of the biggest product regrets I had was changing my eye makeup remover. I tried one from Sephora, one from Caudalie, one from Fresh and I absolutely hated them all. I just ended up going back to my original form of removal which is coconut oil. However, I hate this too because its such a big jar. Sigh.    Anyone else have product nightmare stories they want to share? doesn't necessarily have to be skincare, my second biggest regret purchase was the Benefit They're Real Mascara.

My skin feels awesome!!!!
I've started using Philosophy's Micodelivery Exfoliating Wash. My skin feels SO good after using it. And the stubborn spot of acne on my chin is clearing up!! (YAY!!!!)  And I polled all my friends about what kind of moisturizer they use on their faces. And one of my besties (Who introduced me to Sephora! So you know she's awesome!) said she is using coconut oil and offered to give me some to try.  I LOVE this stuff. It smells so good and it leaves my skin feeling SO SOFT!!!    This duo is making my face super happy!! But it's only been a few days. So we'll see what happens. I'm hoping the coconut oil doesn't lead to more acne. I don't apply it too heavily, especially in that area.

Adult Acne issues. Tried Boscia, but it just made it worse.
I am 31 years old with very light, very sensitive skin. I have never really had bad acne or super noticeable problems with blemishes. I was not really one to wash my face more than once a day. I would take off my make up with wipes, but other than washing my face in the shower with a drug-store brand cleanser, and using an oil free moisturizer for sensitive skin, that was about it.   Recently though, I have started to get bad acne/blemishes on my forehead, cheeks, chin and nose. The blemishes are extremely painful even when not touching them. Because my old routine was obviously not working, I wanted to try something new. I have fairly sensitive skin (I try to use products without fragrances, dyes, etc). I purchased Boscia's cleanser and willow bark spot treatment. At first, the cleanser seemed to be good. My skin would feel soft after I washed it and by the morning, my blemishes would be less irritated. The willow bark spot treatment did absolutely nothing. Toothpaste worked better than that stuff.   Because my skin was so bad, I began to wash my face twice a day and use an oil free moisturizer on the dry areas of my face at night. But after using this for about a week, my face broke out like it has never done before.  I stopped using the Boscia  and went back to using my wipes and moisturizer only. Within a couple of days, my skin was starting to get better.    I researched online and saw that the Murad brand was generally recommended for adult acne. I got the 3-day sample of their serum and have that my skin does seem to be a bit calmer. I had also purchased the Murad cleanser with all day acne treatment and have very carefully and sparingly started using that. So far, I am still dealing with the breakouts, but nothing like the insanity I saw after using the Boscia.    So after all of that... here's my actual question: has anyone had a similar experience and if so, do you have any advice? I worry that my skin maybe can't handle any kind of skin care routine. But since I am starting to see signs of aging on my face, I really do want to start.

Okay! Pre-Cleansing and shaving with coconut oil and water, cleansing with ole's aloe cleanser, then sodium PCA with rose water and glycerin applied after dabbing face dry to tone, then ole's truth serum with some additional absorption time, then neutrogena break out free sunscreen, then olay's sensitive moisutrizer mixed with two drops pure argan oil for extra hydration. Doing this same routine at night but instead of serum and sunscreen I treat with Retin-A and moisturize with First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream.     My skin just won't calm down, I know it may seem like I'm over-doing it but just a few hours later my skin is flaky, dry, and irritated! I read all my ingredients and make sure everything's alcohol free and as calming as possible but no matter what I do these breakouts are really just horribly irritated shave bumps followed by unquenchable dry patches with an oily t-zone.   Taking care of my skin has been something I've been proud of since I was fourteen, sunscreen everyday and hour long bathroom skin routines.
