Hi all! I wish to add some skin care products to my list since I’m about to be 20. I’m just so excited to welcome my 20 years old birthday and want to take care of my face. I just use cleanser, toner and lotion. I’m looking for eye gel and mask now. I wonder if it’s a little early to use them. My face is a little sensitive and slightly oily on T zone. I used to use Clinique, Jurlique, and Kiehl’s. I find Fresh Lotus Eye Gel and Rose Mask might be a good choice. Can you leave me some suggestions? I would love to know other choices, and also if you are the same skin type with me, can you tell me what skin care products you use?
I live in a mild climate, where it can be slightly humid, but otherwise it rains continually for 3/4 of the year. I have normal-to-combo skin, meaning I don't really have any major dry/oily spots, but I can get dry or slightly oily in my t-zone occasionally. I use the Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser twice a day (ok, usually I only manage to use it once a day), and I moisturize with Ole Henriksen's Nurture Me and Bite's Agave Lip Mask twice a day (religiously). I exfoliate with Exfolikate twice a week, and I use the Boscia Black Luminizing mask all-over once a week, and in my trouble zones up to three times a week. I use the GLAMGLOW Powermud once or twice a week, and I spot treat any incoming blemishes with the GLAMGLOW Supermud as needed. I also use the Boscia Purifying Pore Strips on an as-needed basis as well. What is your skincare routine?
Thank you Sephora and Ole Henriksen for the sample of Ole's Ultimate Lift Eye Gel? I actually applied to my husbands eyes the past couple of nights as he works 24 hour shifts and had developed some serious bags and puffiness. This morning the swelling and lower eye tissue had tightened up so much that I would provide before and after pictures if only he was an active participant. I am very impressed with this product. I tried it myself last night and thought it was a little sticky until it dried. It does provide a nice cooling feeling immediately. I will probably keep this in the refrigerator for future use. I can say with complete certainty this will provide relief from swelling due to allergies, being sleep deprived, or a tearful evening.
Hi everyone! So it's been, like forever, since I last posted on here. Oh, how I've missed this beauty realm! Anyway, I have an interesting topic I'd like to share and hear your thoughts on! I grew up as the niece of a Mary Kay consultant, and from day one I was always told that every beauty regimen consisted of "cleansing, toning, and moisturizing". In attempts to combat my acne-prone skin, I researched and researched the best ways to achieve clear skin and realized that toning isn't always the key to healthy, acne-free skin--everyone's skin is different, and sometimes being too harsh or using products that are too drying can actually CAUSE acne. I had finally found a routine and products that worked and, through trial-and-error, discovered ingredients that aggravate my skin (which I now avoid). Before, I had been using Murad's AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser twice a day (I can already hear the gasps) and my skin was clearer than it had been in a while and my skin seemed to tolerate the exfoliation. However, I'm moving to Florida in three weeks and was just recently there to scout out the area. MAN, had I forgotten how HOT, HUMID, and MUGGY it is! Phew!! Guess what happened? Of course my skin was constantly oily, and instantly began to break out. And my Murad cleanser instantly seemed to stop helping and began aggravating my skin. So when I returned home (Ohio), I realized that I really need to rethink my skincare routine and LISTEN to my skin. ANYWAY, long story short, I re-visited my toner, Sea Breeze Original Formula. I used this long ago, but stopped due to the fact that I was afraid of drying out my skin too much and therefore causing my skin to produce too much oil and therefore creating acne. **ugh, the deadly cycle**. So I've been using a gentle cleanser morning and night, followed by my Sea Breeze toner (I hate that they call it an *astringent*...it sounds so....harsh), followed by a gentle, basic moisturizer or my beloved Argan Oil. Honestly, my skin improved overnight. So I wondered, am I really CLEANING my skin enough? Today, I experimented with just that! I had nothing to do today (and by nothing, I mean NOTHING!) So that meant no makeup, nada. I cleansed, toned, and moisturized this morning at around 9:00. It's 7:00 pm now and I was feeling grimy, so I cleansed my face then just took a few cotton rounds and toner and swiped them on my face. OH. MY. GOSH....THE DIRT!!! It's unbelievable!! And this is from literally doing anything and not wearing any makeup!!! I'm just stunned by how much dirt and grime my toner and cotton pad were able to pick up, and it has really made me reconsider the methods in which we "clean" our face. I know toners aren't for everyone, and I've been against them ever since I did my research on clearing acne-prone skin. But my golly, I'm just stunned so I had to share this with you all, pictures included!! I used it several times, the first cotton round being the first swipe, and the last one being a clean, un-used one (just so you can see the difference). How do you feel about toners, and if you use 'em, which ones do you prefer? P.S. Sorry for the super. Incredibly. Long. Post. It's been way too long, and I felt the need to be thorough. Plus, as I said, I had NOTHING to do today, which equals boredom. Which equals this post.
Hello all - In high school and college, I suffered from really bad cystic and hormonal acne. I used Proactiv during that time and for the most part it helped to clear up those breakouts. However, I feel that after 5 years of using the system, my skin wasn't progressing. I now have uneven skin tone, enlarged pores, hyperpigmentation, and severe post acne scarring. I also get blackheads around my nose and cheek area which are under the skin. I want to extract them, but I'm afraid of further scarring. Most days, I wear foundation (Lancome's Teint Ultra in 430 Bisque C) to conceal my uneven tone and scarring. I decided in January of this year to invest in new skincare products. I stopped using the Proactiv and switched to Clinique's Acne Solutions Kit. Along with the kit, I use the following products: - Kate Somerville Oil Free Moisturizer (morning and nightly) - Murad Oil Control Mattifier SPF 15 (every day before makeup application) - Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treament (2-3 times a week) - Kate Somerville EradiKate Acne Treatment (spot treatment as needed) - Glam Glow Supermud Clearing Treatment (1-2 times a week, sometimes right after using ExfoliKate) - Murad Post Acne Spot Lightening Gel (nightly) While I love all of these products, I find that now in July, my face pretty much looks the same as it did in the beginning of the year. I don't want to feel discouraged, but at the same time I want to trust that investing so much money and time in these products will yield results. I follow beauty bloggers on the Internet, and many of them rave about the Clarisonic. I've been intrigued for many months now and I'm wondering whether I should purchase it. Will this be the answer I'm looking for? Will it finally help me achieve even toned, clear, and bright skin? Can you recommend any other products that deliver visible results? Do I need to stop using one of the above products? Any skin product life savers? Any help, advice, and product recommendations would be fantastic. Thank you so much!
My skin is darker on some places on my body like my neck and my knees, elbows and underarms. How do I remove those dark spots, or reset it to be the same colors with the rest of my body? Spoiler (Highlight to read)
I was wondering what moisturizer is best for skin that is flaking b/c of Retin-A and additional acne medications. I'm looking for something that is fragrance free, won't cause additional irritation, and will combat the dryness that results from my prescriptions. Any suggestions?
I'm thinking of having a chemical peel done at the doctors office. I have some sun damage, discoloration, and a few wrinkles that I would like to see gone. Has anyone had this done by a professional? If so what was your experience? I use the Dr. Gross Alapha Beta Peel Extra Strength Formula every evening and my face seems to respond well - it doesn't irritate my skin but it does leave it brighter and more smooth. What do you think?
Hi ladies, I've always been wary about trying facial oils or serums, but I just recently tried the Josie Maran Argan oil that I've had forever the other night and when I woke up I was shocked to see that my acne had cleared up and my skin was crazy smooth. I couldn't believe it took me so long to try it. I heard some horror stories about reactions to it, but I must say my skin hasn't looked this good in a long time. I'm glad I finally got to try this product and will be forming my own opinions about products instead of making judgements before I try them. Everyones skin is different and I think I got lucky trying this. Has anyone had an experience with a product with many negative reviews but it worked wonders for you? xo, Kelly
I am always on the hunt for a great face mask! Which do you guys love the most? I have tried: FIRST AID BEAUTY Skin Rescue Purifying Mask With Red Clay- Wasn't impressed. Didn't see a difference in my skin, even though people rave about this product. FRESH Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask- I like it! It makes your face very very soft, but I don't think that's worth the $88 price tag considering that my face is always naturally soft and slightly oily. If your face is dry or rough you may love this one. ORIGINS Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask- I like this so far. Decent Mask. GLAMGLOW Supermud Clearing Treatment- I had high hopes for this one! I found it to be OK and SLIGHTLY improved the pores/blackheads on the apples of my cheeks. Still on the fence about whether or not it's a keeper though. *Forgot to add: WEI Golden Root Purifying Mud Mask - LOVE this stuff. Didn't irritate my skin and it feels absolutely luxurious on your face. However, not sure if it does much for trouble areas but rather just to overall calm the skin. Any suggestions for large pores, blackheads, or hyperpigmentation? Let's talk faces

I have huge pores...They are terrible craters you can see under my skin. I try *everything*. Face washes, I exfoliate regularly, Pore strips, clay masks. I even bought Origins charcoal mask specifically for pores. Plus every at home remedy you can imagine. I have an extractor but my blackheads are back daily. My blackheads are constantly visible on my nose. Please...Help?
I recently ordered a $50 set of Nuxe's Huile Prodigieuse through Gilt, which consisted of a 1.7 fl oz bottle of both the original Huile Prodigieuse and the Huile Prodigeuse OR (the one with the shimmer). When I received it in the mail today, I received 2 bottles of the OR. After talking to a customer service rep, they let me keep the 2 bottles as an apology and placed an order for the original set at no additional cost. So, essentially I got 4 bottles of Nuxe's oil for the price of 1 -- already discounted -- Gilt set. That's $50 for 1 bottle of the original and 3 of the OR -- a savings of $96 off their original price. Amazing. I've never had any issues with shipping with them before until now, but I'm so amazed by how generous they were with their mistake. I just thought I'd share since it was kind of exciting for me...
I decided to buy Clarisonic, but i was confused which one to buy, mia or mia 2 or aria? I was in between mia or mia2? please suggest me, i don't want to spend some extra bucks just for simple extra things.
So I've checked this topic and a lot of them refer to people who are much older than I am (50's and 60's). I'm relatively young (23), have already lost about 50 pounds in a few years, and I'm looking to lose the other 50 this year. I REALLY don't want to be left with loose and sagging skin afterwards. I already have some stretch marks (doesn't look too bad if I'm a bit tan). But I definitely want to take care of it now. Has anyone used any skin tightening products or anything that prevents stretch marks, boosts collagen production etc? I know that I must stay hydrated, strength train, and stay out of the sun. I'm just looking for the extra step in preventative care and am looking for your suggestions/experiences
So, for almost a year I've been using three skincare items that my skin at one point and time loved. However, now it is as if my skin has gone on strike and is having temper tantrums when I use them. I really love Josie Maran's Light Argan Oil, but it has made me breakout in this horrendous pimples in three separate spots. I know it was the Argan Oil because I stopped using it several times and went back to it when my face cleared up...I always break out. The second thing is Fresh's Sugar Lip Treatment. My lips are always more dry and chapped than they were before I started using it. I used to be able to wake up with the softest lips ever and now I wake up with split and chapped lips. The last thing is my Boscia Black Mask. My pores look abnormally large after using the mask now. What are three holy grail skin or makeup items that you once loved but now they are on your "do not ever buy again" list?
Hi ladies and gents I am looking to add a cleansing and purifying mask to my skin routine. Right now I am deliberating between the Boscia black mask, Origins Charcoal Mask, and First Aid Beauty's Red Clay Mask. I'd like to hear your opinions on which of these you think is best; they all seem great but I can't decide!! Also if you feel these wouldn't work, I'd love to hear other recommendations. Some background information on my skin: My skin tends to be combination/oily. I suffer from acne, although typically breakouts only happen in clusters on the sides of my face. I've been using 5% benzoyl peroxide cleansers and treatment gels, along with a salicylic acid moisturizer and Murads intensive C Radiance Peel (with the peel being used 1-2 times a week typically). This routine has helped my skin significantly and I'm looking to mainly treat and get rid of blackheads and other gunk beneath the skin to further prevent breakouts with a good mask.
Hello ladies and gents, I have been looking for a good face mask. I suffer from acne on certain parts of my face. Lately I've been using benzoyl peroxide products (5%) alongside my Murad Intensive C Radiance Peel, which I've found is helping. It seems i have some deep blackheads and other gunk that I've found it difficult to treat and draw out though. Would Glamglow be a good product to use for this purpose? Or is it an overhyped product and if so, is there anything else that you would recommend??
Hi everyone I've heard great reviews about the Sephora Perfection Mist Airbrush Foundation and I can't wait to purchase it, I'm just wondering since its an aerosol based product would I have trouble with it while travelling? or can i just put it in my check in luggage and not worry about it? i know it sounds like a silly question and I know larger aerosol products/perfumes are usually confisticated/banned but I wasn't too sure if this size was okay for carry on!
So I'm a newbie to self tanning, and despite all of my best efforts at following directions and taking advice (like moisturizing the dryer parts of my skin like my knees) I wound up with a streaky leg and filthy looking feet. Oh yes, and a ruined pedicure! So I tried to buff off the dirty looking stuff from my feet with scrub and a scrubbie sponge but they still look pretty dirty. The question is, do I keep scrubbing till all the self tanner is gone and start again or can I try to repair the damage with more at some point? Same goes for the streak in my leg. Also, any advice on how to avoid this in the future would be greatly appreciated. I just invested in a huge bottle of Tarte Brazilliance and would rather use it than return it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Hi everyone, I recently started using peels daily (Ole Henrikson Lemon Flash Peel, PTR Peels, etc.) and LOVE them. However, today I was outside and in the sun (but VERY little) and I got fairly sunburned. I know I remember reading that peels and sun don't mix, but I was in the sun very, very little - I was surprised I got so red. (Though admittedly I'm really fair and freckled anyway) How do you combat this, especially in the summer? I'm afraid I may have to stop using the peels altogether. I'd really appreciate any advice!
I love this product so much! I wanted to share a tip for having it apply easily. Put a small amount in your palm (pea-sized) and then add a few drops of water to it and rub your hands together. It thins it out and it absorbs into your skin quicker.
I hormonally break out on my chin. Usually only 1-2 pimples at a time. But when the acne heals, I am left with a red dot/discoloration in its place. So I can be acne free, but have a ton of red spots on my chin area. What is the best way to treat these spots? I should be able to wear a tinted moisturizer and be happy, but with this red discoloration on my chin it isn't going to happen. Any suggestions would be so appreciated!!!!
