Two weeks ago I stepped up my retinol game at night from the Algenist Retinol Firming and Lifting Serum to Paula's Choice Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment Cream and went through peeling, redness, and especially sensitivity (I was accidentally blending this up under my eyes and onto my lids when I put my eye cream on and my eyes were having none of it - water burned and the only thing that I found that didn't irritate them was Neosporin). When I was going through the adjustment, sunscreen was adhering to my skin increasingly poorly, which I just chalked up to the flaking and dryness. Now that my skin has adjusted to the retinol, which I am able to use daily, sunscreen will barely adhere to my skin. I've been using the same amount of the same formulas (Kate Sommerville Waterlight, Supergoop City Serum, MDSolar Sciences SPF 50, Bioderma Photoderm MAX, and Neutrogena Dry Touch SPF 45) as well as the same skincare, but they don't blend in and don't stay put. If I don't wear makeup, they look obvious on the skin becasue of the streaks they leave, and if I do, then all of the formulas just ball up when I try to blend anything out. I think that it is becasue my skin texture has improved by leaps and bounds, but am not entirely sure. Has anyone else encountered this problem, or is it just a 'me' thing? I would love to hear any suggestions for sunscreens that you all think would work as well. I would like to avoid using waterproof, but, as of now, it looks to be my only feasible option .
Oddly, I received an email shortly after I had commented in a post about how I wasn't that concerned about not having receiving anything free from Sephora. I noted that, although it would certainly be neat to get a free thing, I certainly was not upset about not getting any. Seriously no biggie. Then I got an email that i would be receiving a Free Thing! I don't have a big wrinkle problem (silver lining to oily skin), but at age 41 I do have a few small wrinkles I'd like to address. I just wish I could use it under my eyes!
Hi, my face is very sensitive and red. I was wondering what product would be best to reduce this redness. My skin isn't dry or oily. I just want to be confident walking out of the house without any makeup on. Thanks(:
BT lovelies what do you do for your skin while you're traveling? I was traveling recently and my lovely skin freaked out. I took my regular skincare stuff with me and followed my normal routine. I went from a warm climate (SoCal) to up north to the mountains near Seattle. My skin freaked out and broke out. Haven't had this bad of a break out in a LONG time. And then my skin dried up, painfully. I'm thinking it might have been the climate change or the water. I know we can get dehydrated while flying so I drink lots of water before/during/after the flight as well as moisturize twice as much. But this time it just didn't help. What do you guys do to help your skin cope with traveling? I'm going to be traveling again soon and I'd like to not have a skin freakout repeat. I'd like to look good in pictures without heavy make up or heavy photoshoping.
I just think it would be fun to share our Holy Grail skincare products. Name 3 skincare products that would use for the rest of your life. What benefits did you get from using them. Okay! Pre-Cleansing and shaving with coconut oil and water, cleansing with ole's aloe cleanser, then sodium PCA with rose water and glycerin applied after dabbing face dry to tone, then ole's truth serum with some additional absorption time, then neutrogena break out free sunscreen, then olay's sensitive moisutrizer mixed with two drops pure argan oil for extra hydration. Doing this same routine at night but instead of serum and sunscreen I treat with Retin-A and moisturize with First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream. My skin just won't calm down, I know it may seem like I'm over-doing it but just a few hours later my skin is flaky, dry, and irritated! I read all my ingredients and make sure everything's alcohol free and as calming as possible but no matter what I do these breakouts are really just horribly irritated shave bumps followed by unquenchable dry patches with an oily t-zone. Taking care of my skin has been something I've been proud of since I was fourteen, sunscreen everyday and hour long bathroom skin routines. No matter what I do or try the unevenness, the acne, the irritation, the dryness, the oiliness, etc IT WON'T STOP Please help
Currently I'm quite angry with my new Mia. I didn't realize I purchased a "Pimple Variety Pack" along with it. I've been using my Mia for a little over a week and I suddenly have a smattering of red bumps across my forehead, dozens of little whiteheads along the sides of my nose and my chin, and worst of all two giant cysts forming. You know those painful ones you can feel forming under your skin for a couple of days before they turn into giant red cysts? The ones concealer slides right off of and it doesn't matter cause they're so big anyway? Yeah those. I'm getting two, right next to eachother, and right at the edge of my chin. It looks like I've developed a cleft chin. Stop laughing. It's not funny (Well ok it sort of is. But it's not. I'm 30 for Pete's sake.) End of rant.
Lots of BTers were asking for this in a previous thread...here you go! http://www.sephora.com/luna-for-sensitive-normal-s kin-P384602?skuId=1592880 http://www.sephora.com/luna-for-combination-skin-P 384603?skuId=1592872 http://www.sephora.com/luna-for-ultra-sensitive-sk in-P384604?skuId=1592864
Okay, might be a REALLY stupid question,but....... What are the primary differences between the Mia 1,2, &3 and the Arial, etc.?????? I read reviews that refer to one working so much better then the other & I need to get one for myself and my daughter, but want to get the right one and not just the most expensive one. Need help, especially before XMas
I am 26 year old with a dry-combination skin. I experience occasional acne. My dermatologist prescribed me Ziana gel, which clears my skin. However the Ziana gel is too drying and irritated for my skin because of the high concentration of retinol. I am wondering will the algenist retinol firming lifting serum be good for me? For those you have used it, did you liked it? what are the benefits you got from using it?
I hate to admit that I'm a perfectionist, so cleaning gets me going "loco" whenever I'm cleaning myself (and even other things too), to the point where I always end up unknowingly overwashing/overcleaning myself, as I always feel like it isn't clean enough until I can feel that all of the soup suds had been fully washed off, making cleaning become totally exhausting and tiresome for me! As well as, I didn't realize that this would lead to being a troublesome problem in getting "Atopic Eczema" that was just diagnosed by my physician today, as it just started showing serious symptoms that arose from about a month ago. So now, in order to keep myself from unconsciously overwashing myself once again, what should I do? Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks!
I am 26 year old and my skin type is dry-combination ( extremely dry during the winter). I am actually using the Nude purifying moisturizer but it is too light and does not hydrate my skin. My skin is really dehydrated, so I must get a new moisturizer. Do you think the Pure Argan Milk™ Intensive Hydrating Treatment will be for my skin? Do you have any suggestions to give me?
Hello, I have dry-combination skin, and it is so dehydrated. I am really looking for something to replenish my skin. Many people are raving about the glamglow thirstymud treatment. For those who have used it. Did you like it or not
I am really interested about the fact that the perricone blue plasma target dead skin cell. Dead skin on my face is my major concern. For those who used it ? Did you notice any good results? Is it worth the price. I have a dry-combination skin with post acne dark sports.
ok, so i've been thinking of what 'angle' to take for this thread. i'm not talking anything too hardcore, here. but i figured it could be a thread that inspires and informs the little "treats" we can give to our skin with the products a lot of us have at home. with the massive shift in weather this past week, my skin freaked out. it was so, so thirsty, as the cool air mixed with dry blasts of hot hair sucked all the moisture out. it was a double whammy for me because this cold front coincided with my skin's most vulnerable time of the month (if ya catch my drift). so when i got home from work yesterday, i...got to work. i wanted to hydrate hydrate hydrate, and soooothe. this is what i used: took makeup off with a balm. shown here is my usual clinique take the day off balm--i ended up using my boots botanics balm as it's just a bit more rich, which is what i wanted for these purposes. any balm would do though ! removed with warm water and a washcloth. dried skin then second cleansed with an oily non-foamy cleanser. my current FAVORITE cleanser, NUDE omega jelly. god i love it. massaged for a couple minutes then rinsed. (not pictured, but) i think did a VERY LIGHT exfoliation to ensure my skin was rid of any dead skin hanging about after being dried out. i used AVEDA botanical kinetics exfoliant (a liquid with salicylic acid) PETER THOMAS ROTH cucumber mask. what i love about this mask is how soothing it is. it's NOT hardcore. i put this on then proceeded to watch a movie or something. you can leave it on for as long as you'd like. i think i had it on for 30-45 minutes. then i took it off with lukewarm water and a wash cloth. my skin already felt so. much. better. i then used my new murad hydrating toner. i could've used this before the mask. but what's cool about it is that it helps your skin retain moisture as well as help balance pH levels. but any sort of hydrating toner / floral spritz would do. (caudalie beauty elixir, a rose water, etc) serum. i wanted to use a "hydra" serum--any sort of serum that helps with retaining water. i used this vichy aqualia thermal. caudalie s.o.s thirst quenching serum is also fantastic. oil -- i used my beloved clarins blue orchid oil. i put it on my drier cheeks, but actually...i also used it for a bit of spot treatment. i was getting a pimple below my lip, and now, no more pimple ! moisturizer. as my skin was severely dehydrated (rather than dry) i used my aveda botanical kinetics moisturizer: the first ingredient is water (hydrating) and the second ingredient is aloe (soothing). hours later i spritzed some beauty elixir and applied more moisturizer before bed. and today my skin is back to normal !! so...this is a sort of routine you can loosely follow (plug in whatever products into the steps) if you're skin is needing a bit of help with feeling tight / dry / thirsty. i'd like this to be a sort of thread people can use for a reference to see others' product recommendations or methods. all skins are different, so what are your tricks ?
After a month-ish of using the new Smart Profile, that was generously gifted to me through Clarisonic and Sephora’s Beauty Talk, I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that the Smart Profile is subpar compared to my Aria in most ways. Speeds: I don’t use the 3rd speed on my the Aria very much so I didn’t care much for the 4th speed or the Turbo blast, the turbo is nice for feet though, if you use it for that purpose. Smart Brush Head: Do not prefer this brush head. It is similar to the normal brush. I honestly dig the new Radiance brush head. I don’t understand the perk of an RFID brush. The website indicates that its a " individually programmed with protocols that automatically engage when the device is powered on.” I take that as, it changes speeds so you don’t have to push the button, even if you don’t want it to change speeds. So the whole point of this device was rendered useless to me. You cannot program it, only with continual use it programs itself. I am doubtful of its accuracy because I use my device differently depending how my skin feels that day/season. Stand: I definitely prefer the Aria stand. The stand it comes with feels very cheap, weighs less and is a drastically different design than the Aria’s. Its also harder to place in the holder when your hands are wet. I had to lay it down on a towel, dry my face and hands, then put it up. May not seem like a big deal, but it was kind of annoying. Charger: same. Other cons: Is not compatible with the extension handle. This was a huge reason that I wanted this device, so I could use it on my back in the shower. I bought a kit off the Clarisonic website and viola! doesn’t fit. I didn’t like the Refreshing face gel cleanser. Pro : I enjoyed trying out the body brush despite above mentioned. I also enjoyed the body scrub that accompanied the device. The charge on this device lasts forever. I hated writing this because I felt so lucky and grateful to have received it. If you need more manual exfoliation than the 3 speeds on the ARIA and PLUS, then this may be the device for you. Everyone experiences things differently, hope my experience can help someone!
I am 26 year old and my skin type is dry-combination My skin concerns : occasional acne, uneven skin tone, dulness My life style: I go to school 3 times a week, and the rest of my time i am home. I do not work because I have a Student Visa, and I am not allowed to work unless I apply for a working authorization. So most of my time I am home. My current skin regiment Cleanse -Clarisonic Mia 2 ( once a day, at night ) -OH African Red Tea Cleanser ( twice a day) Toner -Arcona Cramberry Toner AM moisturizer -Nude Puriying daily moisturizer Treatment (PM only and i alternate between two) -OH Invigorating night treatment -Caudalie Detox Oil PM moisturizer -Fresh Seaberry Oil (on top of the OH invigorating treatment) DURING THE DAY, I FEEL LIGHT MY MOISTURIZER IS TOO LIGHT, AND MY SKIN FEELS TIGHT. MY QUESTION IS DO I NEED TO ADD A PRODUCT THAT IS MORE HYDRATING TO MY SKIN LIKE A MASK, OR A SERUM. IF YES PLEASE GIVE ME SOME SUGGESTIONS ABOUT I SHOULD USE
i've seen this type of question asked more generally, but i wanted to ask it specific to skincare. not only is it interesting to see what has really worked for people, but it'll maybe highlight some products others are interested in trying ! so: what are specific products that would cause you to hyperventilate were you to run out ? mine currently are: CLINIQUE take the day off cleansing balm FIRST AID BEAUTY facial radiance pads CAUDALIE beauty elixir AVEDA botanical kinetics hydrating face lotion edited to add: CAUDALIE vinoperfect enzymatic peel mask MURAD essential-c toner CLARINS blue orchid facial oil i have steps that i would never skip that are not represented in the above list, but the products i use for those steps tend to be more interchangeable. additionally, a couple products that may reach HG status soon, but need more time in my rotation: FIRST AID BEAUTY skin rescue purifying mask w/ red clay CAUDALIE vinosource s.o.s. thirst quenching serum (this may break me out a bit if i use too much, still seeing if it's the culprit. i still love it) MARIO BADESCU facial spray with aloe, rosewater & herbs OLE HENRIKSEN lemon strip flash peel REN glycol lactic radiance renewal mask NUDE perfect cleanse omega jelly (this is brand new, but if you're actually EAGER to wake up to wash your face i think it's a good sign of something being on the road to HG status !)
Hello Lovelies, For over two years I've been on the search for the perfect serum and frankly I'm still torn. I'm looking for something that brightens, tones, corrects and tightens. I've tried Shiseido, Ole Henriksen, Philosophy, Perricone MD and a handful of drugstore items. My skin has always been oily, acne-prone, and sensitive. I've gotten a good regimen going now but I recently started using Philosophy's No Reason To Hide and so far it's great. I haven't seen much of a difference with my skin tone but I must admit that I love that my skin is smoother and my pores a little less noticeable. So my question is, does this really work or should I go back to Ole Henriksen's Vitamin C Truth Serum? Any other serums that have worked for you all that you would like to suggest? thanks, Tamara
Until today, I've been a happy Clarisonic customer since I got mine in January 2012. I bought a Plus to start prepping my skin for my wedding (that was 6 months away at the time). I used it religiously every day, and noticed improvements in tone in my unevenly colored skin. I continued to use it afterwards because it seemed to do a fairly good job at cleaning my skin. About a month ago it abruptly stopped working. I lifted it out of the cradle and it made a sad buzz very different from its usual hum. I went to clarisonic dot com to see about troubleshooting. I tried the suggestions, including moving it to another power outlet in the house, and nothing worked. I called Clarisonic, and once I got someone on the phone, as soon as I gave them my handle information they told me they couldn't help me, I needed to call Canada. So I called Canada. And emailed Canada through their Contact Us page. Nobody ever returned my calls or emails, even after repeatedly trying to make contact during the past month. Finally today I got a real, live person on the phone and they said because my Clarisonic wasn't registered in Canada and is outside of the 2 year warranty, they can't offer me a new one or replace the handle. When I bought it, Clarisonic didn't have a Canadian website, so I registered it with the US one. It made it 10 months past the warranty period before it died. I explained how disappointed I was at not receiving a response from them for a month, and even asked when the Smart Profile was coming to Canada, and still they did not want to do anything to retain me as a customer. Am now glad I resisted the urge to buy the Smart Profile during the recent Rouge sale. Will not be giving them any of my money again.
I would like to try some few products from Caudalie. My sister told me that it is a good brand. Hey Ladies! I was hoping to get some input on these 2 product lines? They are both on the pricier side of skin care products and I was looking for something to amp up my routine. I have combination skin - dry cheeks (some dryness/flaking above eyebrows, cheeks and nose) but oily t-zone. On top of that I have sensitive/acne prone skin that has very red cheeks due to irritants/sun/acne. Any thoughts on these two lines would be greatly appreciated. I would love to hear from those who have used either or both thoroughly! Thanks a ton!
If you have used or are using any of these brands, please give me your opinions. What are the products you like from those brands? What should I use from my skin. I trying to change my skin care ( I am so picky), so please I need your help. My skin type is combination, i have few dark spot from occasional breakouts.
I have the original Clarsonic Mia from 2012. It works fine - no issues - but I am really interested in the new Clarsonic Smart Profile. Do you think it's worth the update - especially with the 20% off? I feel bad replacing it since it works well and has no issues. But there have been so many updated models released that I feel like I'm missing out. (Especially since I've been breaking out more than usual recently.) Any advice would be appreciated - thanks!
Hi beauties. Got and tried this mask in the mini mask sampler and while I like it, I've only used it once. Does anyone have any experience with using it over a period of time? Was thinking to pick up a full size before the sale is over, but would like to hear from others first. I'm no pumpkin junkie, but the smell is pretty nice. thank you!
I received a few samples of the Eve Lom cleanser a while ago and really liked it, but I'm having trouble justifying almost $100 for a cleanser. I looked into the OH Melting cleanser, which seems like a decent dupe, but the reviews have been mixed. Does anyone have ideas on their similarity? I know the Eve Lom is a hot-cloth cleanser and the OH doesn't seem to be, but the "feel" of the melting cleanser seems to be the same based on description. I've used the Liz Earle hot-cloth cleanser as well, but that seems much creamier than the Eve Lom.
