ok, so i've been thinking of what 'angle' to take for this thread. i'm not talking anything too hardcore, here. but i figured it could be a thread that inspires and informs the little "treats" we can give to our skin with the products a lot of us have at home. with the massive shift in weather this past week, my skin freaked out. it was so, so thirsty, as the cool air mixed with dry blasts of hot hair sucked all the moisture out. it was a double whammy for me because this cold front coincided with my skin's most vulnerable time of the month (if ya catch my drift). so when i got home from work yesterday, i...got to work. i wanted to hydrate hydrate hydrate, and soooothe. this is what i used: took makeup off with a balm. shown here is my usual clinique take the day off balm--i ended up using my boots botanics balm as it's just a bit more rich, which is what i wanted for these purposes. any balm would do though ! removed with warm water and a washcloth. dried skin then second cleansed with an oily non-foamy cleanser. my current FAVORITE cleanser, NUDE omega jelly. god i love it. massaged for a couple minutes then rinsed. (not pictured, but) i think did a VERY LIGHT exfoliation to ensure my skin was rid of any dead skin hanging about after being dried out. i used AVEDA botanical kinetics exfoliant (a liquid with salicylic acid) PETER THOMAS ROTH cucumber mask. what i love about this mask is how soothing it is. it's NOT hardcore. i put this on then proceeded to watch a movie or something. you can leave it on for as long as you'd like. i think i had it on for 30-45 minutes. then i took it off with lukewarm water and a wash cloth. my skin already felt so. much. better. i then used my new murad hydrating toner. i could've used this before the mask. but what's cool about it is that it helps your skin retain moisture as well as help balance pH levels. but any sort of hydrating toner / floral spritz would do. (caudalie beauty elixir, a rose water, etc) serum. i wanted to use a "hydra" serum--any sort of serum that helps with retaining water. i used this vichy aqualia thermal. caudalie s.o.s thirst quenching serum is also fantastic. oil -- i used my beloved clarins blue orchid oil. i put it on my drier cheeks, but actually...i also used it for a bit of spot treatment. i was getting a pimple below my lip, and now, no more pimple ! moisturizer. as my skin was severely dehydrated (rather than dry) i used my aveda botanical kinetics moisturizer: the first ingredient is water (hydrating) and the second ingredient is aloe (soothing). hours later i spritzed some beauty elixir and applied more moisturizer before bed. and today my skin is back to normal !! so...this is a sort of routine you can loosely follow (plug in whatever products into the steps) if you're skin is needing a bit of help with feeling tight / dry / thirsty. i'd like this to be a sort of thread people can use for a reference to see others' product recommendations or methods. all skins are different, so what are your tricks ?
Until today, I've been a happy Clarisonic customer since I got mine in January 2012. I bought a Plus to start prepping my skin for my wedding (that was 6 months away at the time). I used it religiously every day, and noticed improvements in tone in my unevenly colored skin. I continued to use it afterwards because it seemed to do a fairly good job at cleaning my skin. About a month ago it abruptly stopped working. I lifted it out of the cradle and it made a sad buzz very different from its usual hum. I went to clarisonic dot com to see about troubleshooting. I tried the suggestions, including moving it to another power outlet in the house, and nothing worked. I called Clarisonic, and once I got someone on the phone, as soon as I gave them my handle information they told me they couldn't help me, I needed to call Canada. So I called Canada. And emailed Canada through their Contact Us page. Nobody ever returned my calls or emails, even after repeatedly trying to make contact during the past month. Finally today I got a real, live person on the phone and they said because my Clarisonic wasn't registered in Canada and is outside of the 2 year warranty, they can't offer me a new one or replace the handle. When I bought it, Clarisonic didn't have a Canadian website, so I registered it with the US one. It made it 10 months past the warranty period before it died. I explained how disappointed I was at not receiving a response from them for a month, and even asked when the Smart Profile was coming to Canada, and still they did not want to do anything to retain me as a customer. Am now glad I resisted the urge to buy the Smart Profile during the recent Rouge sale. Will not be giving them any of my money again.
Hello Lovelies, For over two years I've been on the search for the perfect serum and frankly I'm still torn. I'm looking for something that brightens, tones, corrects and tightens. I've tried Shiseido, Ole Henriksen, Philosophy, Perricone MD and a handful of drugstore items. My skin has always been oily, acne-prone, and sensitive. I've gotten a good regimen going now but I recently started using Philosophy's No Reason To Hide and so far it's great. I haven't seen much of a difference with my skin tone but I must admit that I love that my skin is smoother and my pores a little less noticeable. So my question is, does this really work or should I go back to Ole Henriksen's Vitamin C Truth Serum? Any other serums that have worked for you all that you would like to suggest? thanks, Tamara
i've seen this type of question asked more generally, but i wanted to ask it specific to skincare. not only is it interesting to see what has really worked for people, but it'll maybe highlight some products others are interested in trying ! so: what are specific products that would cause you to hyperventilate were you to run out ? mine currently are: CLINIQUE take the day off cleansing balm FIRST AID BEAUTY facial radiance pads CAUDALIE beauty elixir AVEDA botanical kinetics hydrating face lotion edited to add: CAUDALIE vinoperfect enzymatic peel mask MURAD essential-c toner CLARINS blue orchid facial oil i have steps that i would never skip that are not represented in the above list, but the products i use for those steps tend to be more interchangeable. additionally, a couple products that may reach HG status soon, but need more time in my rotation: FIRST AID BEAUTY skin rescue purifying mask w/ red clay CAUDALIE vinosource s.o.s. thirst quenching serum (this may break me out a bit if i use too much, still seeing if it's the culprit. i still love it) MARIO BADESCU facial spray with aloe, rosewater & herbs OLE HENRIKSEN lemon strip flash peel REN glycol lactic radiance renewal mask NUDE perfect cleanse omega jelly (this is brand new, but if you're actually EAGER to wake up to wash your face i think it's a good sign of something being on the road to HG status !)

I have a dry-combation skin, and my skin but every time I have a dead layer of skin, it does not go away. I always physical exfoliation , like scrub but NO RESULT, it is still there. My skin is not absorbing any product i put on Do you have any advice or trips of that. ?
I live in a mild climate, where it can be slightly humid, but otherwise it rains continually for 3/4 of the year. I have normal-to-combo skin, meaning I don't really have any major dry/oily spots, but I can get dry or slightly oily in my t-zone occasionally. I use the Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser twice a day (ok, usually I only manage to use it once a day), and I moisturize with Ole Henriksen's Nurture Me and Bite's Agave Lip Mask twice a day (religiously). I exfoliate with Exfolikate twice a week, and I use the Boscia Black Luminizing mask all-over once a week, and in my trouble zones up to three times a week. I use the GLAMGLOW Powermud once or twice a week, and I spot treat any incoming blemishes with the GLAMGLOW Supermud as needed. I also use the Boscia Purifying Pore Strips on an as-needed basis as well. What is your skincare routine?
If you have used or are using any of these brands, please give me your opinions. What are the products you like from those brands? What should I use from my skin. I trying to change my skin care ( I am so picky), so please I need your help. My skin type is combination, i have few dark spot from occasional breakouts.
Hey Ladies! I was hoping to get some input on these 2 product lines? They are both on the pricier side of skin care products and I was looking for something to amp up my routine. I have combination skin - dry cheeks (some dryness/flaking above eyebrows, cheeks and nose) but oily t-zone. On top of that I have sensitive/acne prone skin that has very red cheeks due to irritants/sun/acne. Any thoughts on these two lines would be greatly appreciated. I would love to hear from those who have used either or both thoroughly! Thanks a ton!
I have the original Clarsonic Mia from 2012. It works fine - no issues - but I am really interested in the new Clarsonic Smart Profile. Do you think it's worth the update - especially with the 20% off? I feel bad replacing it since it works well and has no issues. But there have been so many updated models released that I feel like I'm missing out. (Especially since I've been breaking out more than usual recently.) Any advice would be appreciated - thanks!
I just wanted to tell you lovelies how amazing this moisturizer is. No scent at all, which I love! And I can just feel my skin give a sigh of relief. It is very hydrating and it's oil-free! Yippee! http://www.sephora.com/take-a-deep-breath-oil-free -energizing-oxygen-gel-cream-moisturizer-P311182?s ...
One of my daughter's has a billion blocked pores on her chin, which she is very self conscious about. She uses mild facial washes, a salicylic acid scrub once or twice a week, the Clarisonic maybe three times a week at night, and following cleansing with or without exfoliating, she puts Clinique's Anti Blemish Gel followed by Clinique's Anti Blemish Balm on her chin. Unfortunately this routine is not getting rid of the blocked pores on her chin, so I'd be grateful for any ideas, and she's really miserable about the situation - Thanks!
I would like to try some few products from Caudalie. My sister told me that it is a good brand. If you have used any of these products below, please give me your opinions. -Caudalie vinosource serum -Caudalie vinoperfect day fluid spt15 -Caudalie C15 detox oil My skin type is combination, and then to get dehydrated and congested. I also have uneven skintone.
Hi beauties. Got and tried this mask in the mini mask sampler and while I like it, I've only used it once. Does anyone have any experience with using it over a period of time? Was thinking to pick up a full size before the sale is over, but would like to hear from others first. I'm no pumpkin junkie, but the smell is pretty nice. thank you!
I received a few samples of the Eve Lom cleanser a while ago and really liked it, but I'm having trouble justifying almost $100 for a cleanser. I looked into the OH Melting cleanser, which seems like a decent dupe, but the reviews have been mixed. Does anyone have ideas on their similarity? I know the Eve Lom is a hot-cloth cleanser and the OH doesn't seem to be, but the "feel" of the melting cleanser seems to be the same based on description. I've used the Liz Earle hot-cloth cleanser as well, but that seems much creamier than the Eve Lom.
Long story short, I had mild/moderate acne through my teens that I probably treated wayyy too harshly and never really resolved. When I was about 20, I gave up on everything and was just washing my face with a Basis cleanser morning and night and nothing else. At this point, I think due to a combination of getting older and BCP, my acne was significantly reduced. Since then, I get mild hormonal breakouts once a month but not much else. Now, at 22, I realize just washing my face probably isn't the best idea long-term, so I've been trying to figure out a routine. After a week or so of mild breakouts (purging?), the below routine seems to be working great for me. My skin is clear and toned and feels good. My problem is that in the morning, I feel like I'm well-moisturized but a couple hours later, my skin looked parched and my makeup settles in every pore and line. I don't know if I need a thicker moisturizer, or maybe a primer? I recently had a facial and they told me to try a toner to make it less dry, but I was under the impression that toners are drying? Again, my skin is still acne-prone (although clear right now), so I'm worried about adding thicker creams or anything that could potentially make me break out. I also fly 2x/week so that probably isn't helping with dryness. Other skin concerns include some mild indented scarring and I'd like to start preventing aging. AM: Splash face with water and lightly exfoliate with washcloth La Roche Posay Effaclar Serum Kate Somerville D Scar Serum Origins Plantscriptives Anti-Aging Eye Treatment Nuxe Creme Prodigieuse Bobbi Brown BB or Supergoop CC (plus a little concealer + mascara) PM: Simple cleasing wipes Philosophy When Hope Is Not Enough Serum Neutrogena Healthy Skin Night Cream (retinol) Origins Plantscriptives Anti-Aging Eye Treatment Nuxe Creme Prodigieuse Extras: Kiehl's Microdermabrasion Scrub 1-2x/week Kate Somerville Eradikate when I get a zit Like I said, this is working for me except for the dryness issue. I know wipes aren't the best cleansing option, but I travel Mon-Thurs for work and really can't fit many more liquids in my little baggie...any wipe recommendations? Or cleaser recs, I can try to squeeze one more bottle in! I'm not loving the Simple wipes and I didn't like the Boots ones either. Is anything else missing? I'm clearly new at this and getting a little obsessive Thanks!
You may have seen that I post that I love my Maybelline Dream Finish BB cream in Dark. 'Cause I do! But I've noticed that I get lots of compliments on my skin when I wear it. One person said my skin looked gorgeous (I also use a NARS concealer stick for dark spots). Another person said my skin was glowing. Seriously. And most of the time I use my Lancome Teinte Idole foundation, but it's nice to know that the BB cream does a great job, too. And I love that's so light on my skin.

Hi, everyone. I am new to Lancome products. I just bought two boxes of Lancome high resolution refill 3x from two different stores. When i opened them, I saw two different colors. One is white, another is a little bit brown. Do anyone has any idea about this? Thanks a lot.
Hi, my face is very sensitive and red. I was wondering what product would be best to reduce this redness. My skin isn't dry or oily. I just want to be confident walking out of the house without any makeup on. Thanks(:
Strange question... I've been using a new eye serum for about 2 weeks that was recommended by an SA. It is Clarins Active Lift and is supposed to firm and diminish dark circles. every night I've used it, I notice almost immediately that the area just edging where I've patted it on starts to flush quite red. It doesn't itch, rash or raise in any way, so I just want to know if I should be concerned?
Does anyone have any recommendations for skincare for getting rid of redness/hyperpigmentation from past acne? I'm willing to splurge and spend more money on better quality skincare. I've been looking at the SK-II brightening and Shiseido White Lucent lines, but am open to other recommendations! Has anyone tried one or the other, or both? What were your thoughts on it? My skin is oily, sensitive, and acne prone.
Hi all, I feel like I need to start stepping up my skincare, for prevention's sake. I don't have any super pressing concerns, other than dark circles under my eyes that never go away. I am 33, have combination skin, extremely rarely get breakouts and drink a ton of water. Generally speaking, my skin is smooth and fairly evenly olive toned. My routine is as follows; Mornings I moisturize with Clinique Dramatically Different gel after I get out of the shower. I apply sunscreen if I'm going out anywhere, but not if I'm going to be indoors all day. If it is winter or I am feeling dry, I use Clinique Moisture Surge Intense or Extended Thirst Relief instead of the DD gel. Evenings I remove my makeup with a Clarisonic Plus and Bliss Fabulous Foaming Facewash. Then if I remember (so a few times a week) I use Bliss Daily Detoxifying Toner. Once every week or two, I follow up with Bliss Peeling Groovy Serum. Most days I finish up with Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask. I currently don't use an eye cream, though I know I should. I don't do masks, but for no apparent reason. I used to use Murad Intensive Resurfacing Peel and loved it, but Sephora in Canada doesn't carry it anymore in store or online. I'm lucky enough to have few complaints about my skin, but do wish it was a little more radiant. My Clarisonic definitely has helped with keeping my skin tone even and acne free, but I'm starting to feel like I want a bit more oomph, but I just can't put a finger on what that would be. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all!
I have had dry skin my entire life. One night I woke up with a complete oily face. It wasn't the first time because I have before when I got really drunk the night before. But ever since that day for the last month my face has gotten super oily within the first two hours after cleansing. Before this was happening I believed I dehydrated my face because of using different cleansers and acne medication to dry out my skin. I have been using a cleanser and a hydrating moisturizer after for almost about a week and it still doesn't seem to be working. I have even switched to using jajoba oil to cleanse with so it wont dry out my face and then the moisturizer afterwards thinking to rehydrate my face so it would stop oiling and go back to normal. My dermatologist doesn't think I could of got this overnight and I don't know what else that could be causing this. Could this be a viral effection or something, I have been noticing my face getting hot and sweating randomly at night while watching t.v.
So a little over a week ago, I started using the Paula's Choice 2% Liquid BHA. I'd been using the FAB Facial Radiance Pads, but wanted to try a BHA instead due to lingering acne blemishes and clogged pores. While the Paula's Choice 2% Liquid BHA has been doing a great job at cleaning out my pores and made my skin super soft at first, over the past couple days I've noticed a stinging/burning sensation after applying it and my skin has started flaking and feeling very dry and tight. I'm so disappointed, and while I'm not ready to give up on the product yet, I'm wondering if anyone has advice about how to make it work better with my skin? Has anyone ever had a reaction like this while using the Paula's Choice 2% Liquid BHA? Is there anything I can do to reduce the flaky, dry skin? I've included my a.m. & p.m. skin routine below, my skin is generally normal with some oiliness, and I do get occasional cystic acne blemishes on my chin/jawline. a.m. FAB Daily Cleanser Paula's Choice 2% Liquid BHA Philosophy When Hope Is Not Enough Serum FAB 3-in-1 Eye Cream Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer Neutrogena Dry Touch Ultra Sheer Sunscreen SPF 45 p.m. Clinique Take The Day Off Balm FAB Daily Cleanser Paula's Choice 2% Liquid BHA Doctor's Skin Prescription Rejuvenating Retinol Serum FAB 3-in-1 Eye Cream Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer Weekly Clarisonic Kiehl's Rare Earth Pore Cleansing Mask
I've tried cutting out toner (because it had alcohol which dries out skin), using oil control serum, using a good moisturizer (my cheeks feel very moisturized and normal), hydrating masks. I took vitamin C rich products because that was drying my skin out as well... I give up! I'm 27 and I've had the same skin for ages. I can't really think it's the weather because it's been on and off like this for a year or so but has recently gotten worse. What masks would you recommend to calm down my skin? Anything else I could be doing? For the record I'm currently using Fresh Soy Face Cleanser Kate Sommerville Oil Control Serum and/or the new Shishedo Serum Dr. Perricone Face Finishing Moisturizer (day) / Fresh Youth Lotus Creme (night) Any tips would be appreciated! Thanks!
Hi! I recently started using Retina-A to help treat my acne and fade some old hyper pigmentation from acne. Its working beautifully thus far however, I noticed when I apply eye cream around my eyes, it stings and burns. I assume this is because the Retin-a might be clashing with some of the active ingredients in the eye cream. Can someone suggest something that is gentle but works. I'm 25 and simply looking for an eye cream as more of a preventative measure. Thanks!
Hi everyone! I have acne, acne scars and annoying white bumps on my face. It's awful and I NEED help. My acne is not bad--It covers with makeup and I love to wear makeup so it isn't a huge problem. Of course I try to decrease it but it doesn't drive me so crazy anymore. I mostly have them on my chin. Forehead is clear and cheeks were clear until I started getting these awful bumps. I don't even remember when it started I just remember putting on my makeup and looking in the mirror and being ilke "WTF." Bumps on face...clogged pores that stand out with foundation. HELP. Am looking to buy a clarisonic now Every time I go to sephora or a skin care person they say I need to EXFOLIATE! I do now... but they are still there. I want smooth skin that will look even more flawless with makeup. So I have finally decided to buy a clarisonic. (Do you guys recommend this for my condition????!) I am thinking perhaps the deep pore or acne clarifying brush will be best but want to hear your experiences!! I don't really have oily skin...it's normal. Couple of blackheads on my nose here and there. So please help!!! Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do? Did the clarisonic help???
