Hi Beauties!! Everyone is so great at sharing secrets and product recommendations for faces. I think we need to share what we do for the rest of our body! Scrubs, cleansers, lotions, tips and tricks for the rest of our skin! I love to use up samples of face creams, serums, etc. on my arms and hands. Things I am pretty sure will break me out on my face will work great for my neglected appendages. I am also trying to be better about using sunscreen on my hands and arms. I use a body scrub a couple of times a week, and I love Korres procducts--very gentle and moisturizing, non-irritating, natural. Avon makes wonderful foot care products--their Pedi-Peel pads are a higher Glycolic acid and really smoothes out the skin on your feet. Great foot scrubs and the lotion isn't all slippery. So, come on and share your loves for caring for the rest of you!
hey beauty's! happy Saturday to you all! I was very curious about the Boscia luminizing black mask since I saw pbbunny97 mentioned it in one of her videos on youtube and she loves it, and ive heard many good things about it. I also researched it and many people love it, unclogs the pores, yaddyayday. anyway if any of you beauty's have tried it, maybe drop a line? peace and love, skye <3 P.S isn't that little butterfly on the Sephora homepage just the cutest thing?
Soap & Glory had a contest thingy last week on the 'International Day of Happiness'. You had to write in 10 words or less, including the words Soap & Glory, why they make you happy. I can't even really remember what I wrote, but I guess it was good enough 'cos I won a 10oz tub of Righteous Body Butter!! I'm so jazzed!! Their stuff smells sooooooo good. (in fact whatever it was that I wrote, I know it was definitely about the smell!)
Hi Ladies, Is there anybody ever used Peter Tomas Roth 40% triple acid peel? If I have oily/sensetive skin, is it this one is worth to try? since it's so pricy, I want to get some advises from you all first before I buy it. Also I wonder is peel or exploit wich one it works better for young age? Thank you! Bo
Since I turn 50 this year, and so will my skin, I am starting this journal to focus on maintaining the quality of skin that I have and hopefully improving the damage I have inflicted on my skin for the last 50 years. I want to age gracefully but not without a fight! If I look as well as my mother at 86 without any skincare regimen (only soap!), then I have a good chance of looking years younger than my actual age. Here are my skin specifics: Oily - less oily in winter and overall a little drier now that I'm post-menopausal Pigmented - freckles and age spots (one on face and more on hands) Sensitive - prone to breakouts but no rashes or stinging Aging - only a few lines around the eyes and drooping eyelids which are getting worse Current regimen: Morning Aloette Gentle Foaming Cleanser Aloette Oil-free Toner Aloette Nutri-hydrating Mist Korres Quercetin & Oak Anti-aging/Anti-wrinkle Eye Cream Korres Quercetin & Oak Anti-aging/Anti-wrinkle Face Serum Korres Quercetin & Oak Anti-aging/Anti-wrinkle Mattifying Lotion Aloette Soothe n' Smooth Lip Balm Evening Aloette Gentle Cleansing Oil (to remove makeup) Aloette Gentle Foaming Cleanser + Clarisonic Mia 2 Aloette Oil-free Toner Aloette Nutri-hydrating Mist Korres Quercetin & Oak Anti-aging/Anti-wrinkle Eye Cream Korres Quercetin & Oak Anti-aging/Anti-wrinkle Face Serum Korres Quercetin & Oak Anti-aging/Anti-wrinkle Night Cream Aloette Soothe n' Smooth Lip Balm (has lip exfoliating scrub plus balm) Once a week, I alternate Aloette Enzyme Peel and Aloette Multi-action Scrub (Saturday and Wednesday) I often use Korres Wild Rose Instant Brightening Eye Treatment under my eyes in the morning. Sometimes at night, I substitute Korres Wild Rose 24 hr Moisturizer and Brightening Cream or Korres Wild Rose Sleeping Facial instead of night cream. Skin concerns: Fine lines around eyes Age spots (outer corner of left eye and hands) and freckles Drooping eyelids Occasional acne Goals for 2014 My goal is to wash my face every night whether I wore makeup that day or not, to improve my diet for overall health and skin improvement, and to continue to search for products that will address my skin issues. I posted pictures without/with makeup below.
SKINCARE Goals, ongoing into 2014 Started Tretinoin routine, 0.05% Using Clarisonic Opal daily on eyes, mouth lines, lips Paying attention to diet, high protein, low carb See a derm for further evaluation by the end of the year Post progress selfies, try not to be grumpy with them (see above) I'm experimenting with some products in my routines but only changing one product at a time. Certain things aren't compatible with the Tretinoin or each other so it's a bit of trial and error right now as I switch them around. Current Routine: NIGHT Every 3rd night, face: Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil, Fresh, Liz Earle muslin cloth Tretinoin mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with Korres Greek Yoghurt Sleeping facial Every other night: Same cleansing + Tretinoin mix on hands, neck, décolletage Alternate with Strivectin, then Korres OR La Mer Reparative Body Lotion everywhere on non-medicated nights. My skin is tender/stingy from the Tretinoin if I don't keep moisture on it 24/7. Nightly: Sephora Triple Action Cleansing Water and an Elizabeth Arden 2 phase eye makeup remover (Forgot the exact name) Strivectin Hydropeptide Eye with Clarisonic Opal, eye area Korres Greek Yoghurt Sleeping Facial OR Strivectin Instant Facial Sculpting cream + Strivectin-TL on neck and décolletage DAY Strivectin, then Clarisonic Opal + included Sea Serum on eyes & lip and mouth lines, layered. I'm likely switching this to Hydropeptide Eye or another serum when I run out of Sea Serum, I think. Strivectin-TL on neck and décolletage Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF100+ Strivectin Instant Facial Sculpting cream OR La Mer Reparative Body Lotion (testing sample) Both are heavy for day use, not happy with this step, may need a lighter daily moisturizer under makeup. NARS Radiant Cream Compact (hydrating ingredients) Things impacting Diet, I've gained weight so my face shape has changed. Solution implemented, I'm back on my low carb eating plan and went back to 3x/week gym routine January 27th. I don't drink enough water at times Insomnia & Stress Main concerns: Weight affecting tone and face shape eye crepe/lines smile lines (2 sets!) jaw contour lip lines (ex-smoker) Journal entries under spoiler cut Spoiler (Highlight to read) Jan 18th: adding 'Yes to Blueberries' towelettes back in for mornings to gently refresh my face. Slathering with more Korres GYSF if not going out. Patchy roughness on face from the Tretinoin even using every 3rd day, diluted 1/2 and 1/2. Neck, décolletage and hands looking very good, fine lines and a couple of spots diminished, crepiness much diminished. Two more days and I'll have been using it 1 month with a little break for over-flakiness in the middle. I also learned my lesson getting it too close to the corner of my mouth, a crack like a potato chip cut that was a week healing. Live and learn. Low carb diet since January 9th, basically protein, greens and a bit of fruit and cheese. Water intake increased, Caffeine decreased. Multivitamin My bloat is almost gone, a couple of CM gone from my waist which was likely bloat but it's heartening nevertheless. I have a cold so I haven't started back to the gym yet. We have a social event on Feb 8-9 to dress up for so I want to look my best. Recording my measurements with a myotape for accuracy/consistency. April 8: time to rebuild routine. Bar Refaeli (some celebrity, I believe) posted a pic of herself getting smothered in 24k liquid gold with only her nostrils and mouth exposed. Then there is the 24k solid gold facial... thoughts anyone? are these treatments any great? or are these ladies just ran out of things to try and show off their wealth with?
I don't know who recommended this on BT, but thank you! My skin is clear! I will say it again: MY SKIN IS CLEAR! And it's been clear for about a month now. And not one breakout. It's strong. I will tell you that right now. But I use it twice a day and use a good oil-free moisturizer afterward. I got mine at Ulta. It's not cheap, but honestly the tube will last forever since you don't need much of it.
So when I went to the spring social the clarisonic rep demoed to mia2 on me which I love but she also put a moisturizer the clinique moisture surge. Omg it's amazing! But here's my question I really want to get it but do I use it just one a day or twice? And if only once what would be good to use at night that's similar?
I bought the Clinique Dramatically Different gel based on some great reviews, but found that it didn't work for me. Once it dried, It felt like a film that sucked all of the moisture off of my face, and I have a really oily t-zone. Then, when I tried foundation over it, my foundation started peeling off as soon as it set, in little flakes all over my face. Did this happen to anyone else, and/or is there an ingredient in this product that I might need to avoid for my personal skin?
I just tried my Maybelline Dream Fresh BB cream, and I have to say that's as good as my Smashbox Camera Ready BB Cream. It goes on very smoothly, and it looks great! It's $9.00 at Ulta. Highly highly recommend it if you want to get a BB cream but don't want to spend a lot of money.
I have my entire skincare regimen all worked out except for a moisturizer. I need one for night time that will brighten, tighten and tone my skin. I need another one for day time that will condition and protect my skin...something with SPF. I'm set with cleanser, tone, serum, dark spot cream and so on. I have oily/combo skin and I'm 34 years old. I would appreciate any suggestions. I'm also on BeautyLish. fafi
I really like Ole Henriksen's Truth Serum, but am wondering how it compares to Peter Thomas Roth 's Camu Camu Power Vitamin C Brightening Serum? Has anyone tried both? Would love to hear your thoughts. Cheers, Brie
Being Indian certainly has it down sides at times. I've been using hair removal creams for longer than I can remember. I also have somewhat dark hair on my face (cheeks, sideburns, etc) I used to get the hair on my face waxed off a couple years ago but then I noticed the increasing hyperpigmentation due to the waxing and layers of my skin being taken off. Now that I try to avoid waxing and thread instead using a epistick/epilator or simply by cutting the hair including my sideburns I notice that there is still some hyperpigmentation close to my sideburn area. Which makes applying makeup and contouring especially difficult because of the two tones of skin. I use heavy foundation often but are there any remedies to this issue? Or any products someone could suggest!
I was using Origins Checks and Balance frothy wash and loved it. I ran out and started using Kate Somerville daily wash because it came with my Clarisonic. Its probably me, but I feel if my cleanser isn't foaming and I can't see it all over my face then my face really isn't getting washed. The Kate Somerville is more like a clear gel and looks like nothing is on my face. I'm sure it sounds weird but I had to order a full size bottle of the Origins pronto. It came today and I couldn't wait to get home and wash my face!!!
Hey all! I have been struggling with black heads on my nose for the last few weeks. after a bunch of failed things trying to be rid of them. I tried something new today and I think the steps i took are what helped it be so successful. I ran a really HOT bath and put epsom salts in and them let the completley dissolve into the water before i got in. Then while i waited I put glamglows clay mask only on my nose. Then I got in the tub for 10 mins and had to window closed in bathroom and door so it was steamy. and when i got out 10 mins later and washed off the mask on my nose...NO BLACK HEADS! I was stunned! just wanted to share this for anyone else struggling w blackheads. Totally worked for me.
BORED. So borrrrrrreeeeed! You know how sometimes you'd have a closet full/bursting with clothe but "nothing to wear"? I'm like that right now with skincare. Currently I'm using a retinol serum at night, so I can't try any fancy exfoliating stuff. And it's really dry winter, so I don't wanna risk flaky skin with new moisturizers. Which leaves masks as the one thing I can play around with......... so far I've tried ALL of Glamglow, Boscia, Wei and Origin's masks. Also Murad clarifying, SK-II/When/Shiseido sheet masks, Fresh Rose/Black Tea, PTR cucumber/sulfur, and OH blue/blackberry. This is literally me right now (minus the sexy air): So, any mask recommendations? Or is there a new skincare product you are trying and liking? do tell. =)
What is a good drugstore cleanser for the clarisonic? I currently use Cetaphil since it doesn't dry out my skin and is very gentle. However, I want to try a new cleanser. I'm looking for something that cleans well and doesn't dry out my combo skin. I am usually oily in the t-zone but have dry patches on my cheek and chin area. I am also sensitive to benzyl peroxide. Any suggestions?
I was at Marshalls getting new running shoes, and I decided to peruse the skincare aisle. What did I find? My Bliss Steep Clean Mattifying Toner Pads for $13.50. They are regular price $38 at Sephora. Whoo-hoo! Made my whole day! http://www.sephora.com/product/productDetail.jsp?k eyword=BLISS%20Steep%20Clean%20Mattifying%20Toner% ...
I have been wanting to get into skin oils or serums and am at a loss as to where to begin as to what is good to look for, etc. Here is a little bit about my skin: I get dry on the apples of my cheeks, but tend to have a more combo skin. I get super dry in winter and KINDA oily but still somewhat dry in the spring/summer. I do exfoliate very regularly and religiously moisturize. I don't do much else. I tried my sisters Ole Henriksen truth serum, but it broke me out. All the ole Henriksen products do, especially their BB cream. So my question is this: What do you all recommend? Apply nightly, daily, or both? I am also in the market for a good eye cream. I have tried Philosophy's eye cream and it made me drier at my corners, the sephora age-defying one ( I liked this one) and that is about it. What are you favorite eye creams? Money is not really an object as long as they work and do what it is supposed to. I know I can count on you guys on BT and you mods to give me a great rec and where to start :-)
I need some product recommendations for any and all makeup and beauty related items which will help me fix my issues. My pores are constantly getting clogged; I don't necessarily have blackheads, they are little whiteheads and sometimes the bumps are just skin with no visible black or white head. My chin and the area's around my hairline seem to develop mini pimples in little clusters. My nose and under eye area are dry and the rest of my face is an oil slick. I have tried mattifying powders and primers and sprays, but I can't seem to make a dent. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
Hello :3 I also need a new skincare routine! My face is looking really bad lately, I have a lot of breakouts and my skin just looks super dull (it's not obvious in the photo because I'm wearing BB cream and some powder). When I wake up, I usually have dryness around my mouth. I have fine lines/creases under my eyes, dark under eye circles, redness - also dark eyelids on the top! This is my current routine: Morning 1. Origins Frothy Face Wash 2. The Body Shop Vitamin E Eye Cream 3. THen I apply BB cream and my makeup Nightime 1. Origins Frothy Face wash 2. Almay Eye makeup remover wipes 3.The Body shop Vitamin E Eye cream 4. Aveeno Vit C nighttime moisturizer I also use The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil face mask about 1x/week but it doesn't seem to help, sometimes I use a drugstore Freeman mask instead; and I exfoliate sometimes with St Ives Apricot Scrub but I think it has made my skin worse- I just started using it and now I have these big acne looking circles near my nose! Or it could b because I started using Burt's Bees makeup wipes for about week and Ive never used makeup wipes to take off my makeup, I let my face wash do that. So idk, but one of those things made my skin much worse. So Im going to stop with the makeup wipes and I want a different scrub I think. I've tried using witch hazel as a toner but that also made my skin worse. I really don't think I need a toner. My skin doesn't seem too dry or oily, just acne prone, dull, and serious eye darkness/wrinkling. Thank you for reading :3 xxxxx
Yes, it's February. After battling through several skincare crises, I finally decided to give in to doing SOS, since I know I need it. For clarification, the "*bleep* baby" is my skin. You'll see why. State of the Union (2/6/14) If you really want to see a picture of me, you can look at one of my old threads. No, I won't tell you which! -- Dryness : Sometimes I wake up feeling so dry that my skin will tear if I move it. This is on my face, neck, and legs. -- Eczema/Atopic dermatitis (AD) : Itchy, dry, red, and flaky spots on one eyelid, side of forehead, both sides of my mouth, several patches on my neck, and sometimes on my arms/legs. These patches can get very painful. -- Keratosis Pilaris (KP) : Bumps, sometimes itchy, red, and swollen, only on my arms and legs. They can result in scabbing and discoloration. -- Acne : Occasional cysts, pimples, and scars, mostly on my cheeks. It's gotten a lot better. I used to have horrible cystic acne over my forehead, but after gentle treatment and giving up dairy, now it's just a manageable nuisance rather than a high priority. -- Irritation/Sensitivity : Several years ago, I had great skin and used whatever goop that was in the house. Then I got acne, so started using drugstore products. Now, my skin likes more and more expensive stuff, some upwards of $60. It's spoiled filthy and won't listen to me. If it doesn't like some product, it'll throw up a huge fuss with rashes, redness, sometimes hives, along with my current skin problems. My current products leave things to be desired, but when I try new things that might be better, I risk a huge reaction that might last anywhere from one day to a month. Moral of the story: I'm doomed. Goals (some unicorn-like) -- Don't wake the *bleep* baby. Please. AKA find out how to control reactions and try out products safely. -- Find various skin goops that will address my problems. -- Find a sunscreen before the summer that doesn't give me a reaction. I don't use anything with SPF right now. -- Get my skin to an arbitrary point where I'll be confident enough to hang out at the beach in a bikini. I'll be satisfied with a t-shirt and shorts, though. -- Control my beauty-related spending. Or bring about world peace. Whichever comes first. Unhealthy Things That I Am In Denial About -- Stress : I have a lot going on, so this is inevitable. However, I really do need to remember to care for my spoiled baby (er, skin). -- Irregular eating : I sometimes go without eating for a day or binge on unhealthy foods, because, stress. -- Water : Self-hypnosis: Drink... more... water... @.@ -- Irregular sleeping : I have an irregular schedule, so I sleep when I can, but maybe I should nap? -- Touching/Scratching skin : Can't touch this... Can't touch this... Goops I Use (Not Necessarily Every Day) -- Makeup remover : Laneige Lip and Eye Remover Waterproof -- Cleanser : Olay Total Effects Blemish Control Cleanser, Sephora Precision Pore Cleansing Pad -- Exfoliator : Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel ( When you use a cleanser for exfoliation, you know your skin's a wimp. ) -- Refiner : Laneige Moisture Power Essential Skin Refiner, Iope Bio Essence Intensive Conditioning ( Why is this so expensive?! ) -- Essence : Shiseido Hada Senka Whitening Lotion -- Moisturizer : Laneige Moisture Balancing Emulsion -- Acne treatment : Clean and Clear Dual Action Skin Moisturizer ( Again, when you can only handle 0.5% salicylic acid, you know your skin's a wimp. ) -- Eczema/AD treatment : CVS Pure Glycerin ( I rub it on over wet skin, and then pat the excess off. ) -- KP/rash treatment : Spectrum Organic Coconut Oil ( calming, but not moisturizing enough ), Clean and Clear Dual Action Skin Moisturizer ( used once the rash is down ) -- Facial oil : Grapeola Grape Seed Oil ( I use this to protect my skin when I cleanse or go out ), Josie Maran Argan Infinity Cream, Walgreens Castor Oil -- Body moisturizer : Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Ultra-Hydrating Body Butter in Vanilla Apricot ( smells like heaven... I could eat myself ) Goops I'm Not Sure About -- Amlactin Moisturizing Body Lotion : Heard this helps KP. I might pick one up next time I'm at Walgreens. -- Boscia Tsubaki Deep Hydration Sleeping Mask : Feels nice, but it's not particularly "deep hydration." Thinking of using this as a heavier moisturizer. Considering buying it. -- CeraVe Facial Moisturizing Lotion PM : I've seen a lot of recs online for CeraVe, so I'll cave the next time I'm at Walgreens. -- Clinique Moisture Surge Overnight Mask : Heard good reviews. Maybe it can help my eczema and AD. -- Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream : Seemed nice, no bad reaction. I'll test it again on a day with bad redness. -- Iope Super Vital Extra Moist Emulsion : What is it with my skin and Iope? Doesn't it know that this is more than $70?! But why does it work so well?! Considering buying it. -- Jason Purifying Tea Tree Oil : P.U. That is all, move along. -- Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil : Is it any different from my grape seed oil? Update: It doesn't absorb well into my skin. I like the Infinity Cream a lot better. -- Korres Greek Yoghurt Advanced Sleeping Facial : There's so many good reviews for this! I must try this soon. -- Laneige Water Sleeping Pack : I was using this when my skin had a reaction (due to over-exfoliating), but I still have to be careful with it, just in case. -- La Roche-Posay Hydraphase Intense Riche : It works on my eczema/AD immediately but irritates my skin. I'm now trying to recover from the havoc it wreaked. -- Mario Badescu Chamomile Night Cream : Lost out to La Roche-Posay Hydraphase -- Olay Regenerist Regenerating Serum Fragrance Free : It's very slippery, but I like it. I'm going to use it for a while to confirm it before I add it officially. -- Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster : I feel like I need this, but haven't tried it yet. I fear it's going to be too strong on my skin. Update: Not irritating, but looking for better options. -- Origins Drink Up 10 Minute Mask to Quench Skin's Thirst : I'm so weak to nice-smelling things... Thinking of using this as a heavier moisturizer as well. Considering buying it. Any advice and recommendations would be appreciated! <3
This is the reason why I now do threading, but that is so painful for me! The woman I used to do my makeup before says she wants to try it and see what happens. She mentioned prepping the skin first and then doing the waxing. Anyone else have the scabbing issue?
My skin is uber-oily. Like you could lube a car engine with it. I tried the Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Vitamin C Youth Activating Oil, and it does control my oil! This product's smell is a bit strange (fishy and oranges?), but it does work well. I also bought Jose Maran Aragon Oil, too. And I'll try that one and see if there's a difference. What I find interesting is that I can put this on in the evening, and the next morning my skin isn't very oily at all. And no new breakouts. Right now my skin is relatively clear, but I am sold. I use maybe two drops for my entire face and follow it up with my Eminence Stone Crop Whipped Moisturizer. Oily-skinned ladies, you may want to try this! http://www.sephora.com/product/productDetail.jsp?k eyword=OLE%20HENRIKSEN%20Pure%20Truth%E2%84%A2%20V ... http://www.sephora.com/argan-cleansing-oil-P283501 ?skuId=1550904
