Dry, Sensitive, with Rosecea. Help?

I need a good cleanser and moisturizer for dry skin that is super sensitive and prone to rosecea.  I just turned thirty, but I'm not looking for any anti-aging products, the emergence of wrinkles are fine. I'm just tired of my face flaking off. Right now I'm using Origins oil-based cleanser, an alcohol-free witch hazel with rose water and aloe, and a dry skin oil for moisturizer.

I have sensitive skin and whenever my skin freaks on me, I always revert back to Vanicream.  It's a very basic moisutrizer with no fragrances that might irritate.  It is thick, which can be hard to spread, but I have found a few drops of water or a damp face helps.  But in your case, you might like the thickness of it to keep the flakes at bay.  You can find it drugstores like CVS, Duane Reade.

As a for a cleanser, have you looked into Cetaphil?

I find I can use Laroche Posay products for sensitive, intolerant skin.  I also have to use a barrier (not chemical) sunscreen on my face and use Tizo 3 for that.  I order from the internet.  I also use jojoba oil where I have seb. derm. (around nose and eyebrows).

Hi, have you heard of Amore Pacific? it's korea's very elite brand. It's actually a huge corporation but in the US market, they've only officially sold Amore Pacific the brand. I recommend their products. For face cream, try Moisture Bound line Vitalizing cream. There are 4 formulas to this Moisture Bound line, and Vitalizing cream is for the very dry and delicate skins.  It is now only available at neimans. I don't think i know of any famous asian skin care brands that use chemicals to treat problems. As chemicals i mean the acids such as glycolic acid. They may use salicylic acid sometimes as acne spot treatment but that's really about it. Un like the US, there are so many brands that focus on these ingredients: DDF, PTR, Clinique, etc. In the long term, these ingredients are very harmful and weakens the skin. I also recommend you look in to asia's famous double cleansing method. There are two types of dirt, oil dirt like greasy makeup which requires an oil-based cleanser. then you'd need to follow up with gentle foaming cleanser for the water dirt such as pillow dust, sweat, and bacteria. Using foaming cleanser to clean greasy makeup is a bad idea: if the cleanser isn't "strong enough" (meaning not enough harsh harmful foaming agents), you will feel greasy makeup residue after rinsing. However, if you do use a harsh type like the foaming cleanser in toothpaste form, it does eventually remove greasy make up but at that point, your face is also left stripped dry. doing this for long term is harmful. Amore Pacific will nourish your skin each step of the regime.  I recommend choose foaming gel or foam from pump or gentle bar soap as your foaming cleanser. Amore pacific treatment soap (at neimans) is gentle, contain soothing ingredients. You can use Amore pacific cleansing oil as the makeup remover (step 1 cleansing night). If you want to add serum, check out amore pacific stabilizing serum (for sensitive reactive skin) and Bio enzyme treatment serum. Both are available at neimans only.

Have you tried the Dr. Weil for Origins Plantidote line?  That's specifically for sensitive skin with rosacea.  I've used it and loved it, but it does get pretty pricey (although it does work).

Another cream I would recommend though is First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream.  I've used it when having a rosacea flare up and it's calmed my skin right down.  It works really well.  Maybe try the Plantidote cleanser and serum with the cream?

Hi Yogasothoth. If you have Rosacea it is important to use fragrance free products.  Cream cleansers, such as Korres Milk Proteins 3 in 1 Cleansing Emulsion   or Boscia Soothing Cleansing Cream , work very well for skin that is sensitive.  For a moisturizer I would recommend Dermadoctor Calm Cool & Corrected or Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream .  Both of these are designed to help with the redness and irritation associated with Rosacea.  Also make sure you are using a sunscreen daily and limit sun exposure as much as possible.  Two great sunscreens for sensitive skin are Clinique City Block Sheer Oil-Free Daily Face Protector SPF 25  and  LAVANILA  The Healthy Sun Screen SPF 40 Face Cream

These products will help soothe and maintain your skin on a daily basis but make sure you are consulting with your doctor on the appropriate treatment for your skin.

Have you tried any of Clinique's Redness Solutions products?  They are designed for sensitive skin and skin that has rosecea.

Here's a link to some of the skincare products:  http://www.sephora.com/search/search_results.jhtml?%2Fcom%2Fsephora%2Fsearch%2Fendeca%2Fui%2FEndecaS...

There are also makeup products in the "Redness Solutions" line.

I hope this helps you. :smileyhappy:

I have only ever seen true Rosacea skins transform with Perricone MD products, specifically with their Cold Plasma. The before and after photos I've seen on his facebook fan page are amazing - from normal fans, not from the company even! It is a bigger investment for a 30-year-old, but it works. And there are no over-the-counter side effects or dermatologist bills to pay. :smileyhappy: Anyway, I use it myself and am very loyal to his products overall. I believe the Cold Plasma in a sample size is often available for purchase. Good luck to you!

Also have mild rosecea, very sensitive skin.  Orgins products do not work for me.  Irritate my skin.  Too much fragrence.  My dermatologist recommends cetaphil to wash my face and it is always my fall back.  Have been using the clinique anti redness line and I like it.  Over the counter Oil of Olay basic products are good.  Go to a dermatologist they can help you.  Remember for sesitive skin, less is more.  Murad has skin serum and masks that help hydrate too.  Good luck.

I had rosacea for a very brief time. I think I woke up and suddenly the area around my T-zone was really ruddy, itchy, and dry and every moisturizer I tried solved one problem, but added to another. My doctor at the time suggested I just wash my face with the Dove bar soap for the time being and she prescribed me Desonide cream. I did some research on it and Desonide has negative effects if used long term. Sadly, that would be my suggestion. But you should really go see a dermatologist or just a doctor in general like I did. You can also try the Murad Sensitive Skin Soothing Serum underneath a moisturizer if you haven't used it before. My mom has dry and really red skin and her skin tolerates it really well. I also know some people who have rosacea use this to get more moisture especially at night time. Hope this helps!
