Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Often people ask for recommendations on a skincare routine or for specific products/combinations.  This might be a place to share your everyday skincare, both AM and PM.  A skincare "what are you wearing" as it were.  Hope this is useful.

*Age - 40

Skin type - oily/combination

Current skin condition - quite dehydrated (winter/indoor heating)*

01/17/16 - AM skincare in the order I used

1. Nude Jelly cleanser (love)

2. Pixi Glow tonic (5% glycolic toner - love)

3. Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Spritz (sample)

4. Radical Skincare Youth Infusion serum - hydrating and anti-ageing (new to me.  Testing)

5. Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream (like)

6. Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine cream (really like as an AM moisturizer)

I will try to post PM skincare tonight so the post can be comprehensive.

General comments - Okay skin.  Apparently the age between 38-42 is a transformational time in hormones (dehydrated skin/spots), so I am more aware of how my skin performs/reacts .  My skincare definitely has more "actives" now than before.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Checking in because one tiny change has radically improved my skincare (Arctic Oil). I have settled long term on one face wash a day with EO's hibiscus face wash. Afterwards I use Skyn Iceland Artic oil. Any zittage that comes up is from either overindulging in sugar (since the blood sugar jump causes a hormonal shift that aggravates my rosacea) or stress, usually resolves in 2-3 days with no medication. Rosacea flushing still happens but it is not constant and mostly keyed to hot beverages, sudden temp changes, exertion, etc. My one constant outdoor ready routine is always slapping on a zinc oxide based sunscreen. No more issues with dryness or flaking. Maybe once a week or week and a half I can do a chemical exfoliant of my choice (rotating choices of Tata Harper, Ren, and Andalou).

Now I just need the ideal no fragrance hair oil. 😄

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@Anonymous,

My zittage and rosacea also break out when I have too much sugar or carbs, causing blood sugar to rise. I'm glad to hear your routine!  🙂

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@Anonymous

Glad the Arctic oil is working for you!  Zittage....ha!

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

My routine has changed a bit since I last posted.  I have been dehydrated!!

Remove makeup with body shop camomile cleansing oil

Boscia tsubaki cleansing oil gel

tone with honey belle lavender toner spritz

Belif hungarian water essence

PTR camu camu vit c serum

Caudalie Vinosource sorbet (day)

Elta MD Physical sunscreen (day)

At night I basically do the same, minus the vit c serum. For treatment I mix my rx Differin with Caudalie vinosource intense rescue cream

For exfoliation I use PTR pumpkin enzyme mask occasionally or PTR Peeling gel a couple times a week.

Just fell in love with Boscia charcoal pudding mask so will be using that once or twice a week too!

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

PM Skincare - on the road edition

I travel often on work, and I carry a pared down and "curated" travel bag of skincare.  I have small sizes of most items.  So here goes:

1. Cleanse - Oskia Renaissance cleansing gel - a gel that melts into an oil.  One of my favourite and most used cleansers.

2. DDG Alpha Beta Extra Strength peel pads

3. January Labs Spritz

4.  DDG Clinical Radiance Booster serum (all purpose...when in doubt)

5. Tata Harper Rejuvenating Night cream

6. SkinOwl Mangosteen Beauty oil drops

Hair mask: bumble and bumble pre shampoo mask from the hair mask kit (1st time trying this as well- smells yummy but I look like a grease monkey while my hair marinates)

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

PM 11/9

First time using Sunday Riley products. I'm hoping I will see great results! The blue oil made me nervous since we have white counters and I'm clumsy but no spills tonight 🙂

Remove makeup - Tata Harper Nourishing Oil Cleanser

Cleanse - Clarisonic with Sunday Riley Ceramic Clay Cleanser

Serum - Sunday Riley Good Genes

Eye Cream - Passport to Beauty Tibetan Goji Berry Eye Cream with Retinol

Facial Oil - Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Night Oil

Moisturize - Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream

PS: Is it oil then moisturizer or vice versa? I can never remember.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

I bought the enzyme water cream after trying a foil for two nights, loved it and it's in the mail to me! I hope you love it too!

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@Haleyhale I do like it! It's thick, but not too thick like some moisturizers can be. The texture reminds me a lot Clinique Moisture Surge.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Yes! I thought moisture surge too, which I use all the time and love, plus the Sunday Riley has a spot lightening ingredient so I could skip a layer in my routine, I like less is more and 2 in one.  @blondesluv2shop

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Why O why did I try a sample of the Josie Maran finishing balm. I know that d*mn Argan pusher has it out for me. Every product I've tried ends in the same result. Hateful mini pimps. Tonight I'm doing masking and deep cleaning.

Mid day mask session:

banila clean it zero balm

ren cream cleanser

pixi tonic

caudalie grape spray

tata Harper purifying mask

fresh rose hydrating mask

caudalie grape spray

Corsx white essence

tata harper nutrient complex serum oil

joseon beauty cream all over and around eyes

may add a pack before bed and make vows to never touch JM products again. Worst part is I knew better.😔

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@Anonymous

I absolutely avoid Josie Maran products.  I had sampled the Argan oil a long while back - never again.

The brand is not for me.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

PM

Boscia black cleanser

exfoliate e/o day

light aveeno moisturizer

face mask once in a while

lazy, lazy nights

ELF makeup remover wipes (love that the residue they leave behind isn't a gross soapy taste)

rinse with water if I bother

light aveeno moisturizer

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

PM 11/8

Remove makeup & cleanse - Tata Harper Nourishing Oil Cleanser

Exfoliate - First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance pad

Mask - Karuna Age Defying Face Mask (first time using)

Eye Cream - Passport to Beauty Tibetan Goji Berry Eye Cream with Retinol

Moisturize - Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet

My face stings a bit but I think that's because I haven't used retinol in a few months.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Hey @greenchilli! I'm wondering about your Grape Water spritz. What does it exactly do for your skin? I got the product when I purchased a Caudalie set. I've tried and it's a nice refreshing feeling but I don't think it really hydrates my skin for more than the minute or so it takes to dry down. What do you notice?/Why do you like it?

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@Bananya

I use Grape water (and similar "hydrating" mists) for several different reasons:

1. If I use a strong acid toner, I like to follow with a spritz to take the "edge" off as it were.  Not that all acids needs that, I just use my judgment.  Some people splash water instead.

2.  I use it to boost hydration and add some skin nourishing ingredients while at it.  I always layer with a moisturizer.

In Fall and winter, even my oily skin gets dehydrated.  So I try to apply layers of hydration.  The key to that is not to let it dry down.   After I cleanse and tone, I spritz this mist.  Then on my damp face, I apply moisturizer (or serum then moisturizer).

3.  I like to apply my serums to a damp face.  So after I cleanse and tone, I use a spritz and then apply serum.  Sometimes my toning phase might leave my face damp...so then I don't need to.   Serums absorb better on damp skin as well.

There are many varying quality of spritzes.  It is not a critical step in skincare, but can be a helpful addition in many instances.  Some are really poor quality - glorified water/alcohol. Others are nice, but overpriced.  There is a vast middle of good spritzes at reasonable prices.
