Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Often people ask for recommendations on a skincare routine or for specific products/combinations.  This might be a place to share your everyday skincare, both AM and PM.  A skincare "what are you wearing" as it were.  Hope this is useful.

*Age - 40

Skin type - oily/combination

Current skin condition - quite dehydrated (winter/indoor heating)*

01/17/16 - AM skincare in the order I used

1. Nude Jelly cleanser (love)

2. Pixi Glow tonic (5% glycolic toner - love)

3. Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Spritz (sample)

4. Radical Skincare Youth Infusion serum - hydrating and anti-ageing (new to me.  Testing)

5. Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream (like)

6. Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine cream (really like as an AM moisturizer)

I will try to post PM skincare tonight so the post can be comprehensive.

General comments - Okay skin.  Apparently the age between 38-42 is a transformational time in hormones (dehydrated skin/spots), so I am more aware of how my skin performs/reacts .  My skincare definitely has more "actives" now than before.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

@Ems08, sorry for the late reply. I'm no skincare expert at all but what helped me the most was acids and hydration.

Acid peels will help with exfoliation, helping cell turnover to reveal new skin and get rid of the bad skin, it should help with clogged pores.

Hydrate, whichever moisturizer is your favourite, never forget it. Drink TONS of water, and don't forget SPF.

I love the Glamglow supermud mask but it is pretty potent and could possibly be a bit too drying, so I would follow that mask with a hydrating or soothing mask.

Read Caroline Hirons blog, she is a goddess of skincare knowledge, so helpful, breaks everything down easily too.

Hope this helps 🙂

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Skin: combination, sensitive, acne prone

more or less what I've been doing for the past 3 months. I struggled with occasional acne, it was never bad but it was annoying how pimples would always pop up! I did an entire skincare revamp. Purged for 4 weeks, everything is good so far now.

AM:

Nude cleansing jelly + wash cloth

biologique recherche p50

Tatcha deep hydration firming eye serum

DE c-firma

DML lotion

herbivore rose spray

PM:

(clinique take off the day eyes + clinique rinse-off foaming cleanser + clarisonic if wearing makeup)

nude cleansing jelly + wash cloth

dr. dennis gross ultra gentle peels, every other day

Tatcha deep hydration firming eye serum

SR good genes

SR luna

DML Lotion

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Ugh. Summer. Reeeally confusing and hard to figure out in terms of skincare. I'm balancing Saw Palmetto for a hormonal imbalance and reeeeally oily skin and little, hard zits. UGH! But Double-cleansing has been awesome for me, waaaay fewer pimples of any kind when I double-cleanse well.

Boscia Makeup Breakup Oil

Boscia Charcoal Deep-Pore Cleansing Stick

Boscia Exfoliating Peel Gel

Tony Moly Galactomyces Lite Essence (2-3 layers)

Hada Labo Gokujyun Lotion (if skin feels tight)

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

7/18 AM

- pre-workout swipe of Garner micellar to remove overnight products

- post-workout splash of cool water

- Graydon Clinical Face Food Mineral Mist for hydration

- NIOD CAIS 1%

- May Coop Raw Sauce

- DE C-Firma

- Odacite Bl+C, Jo+L, Gr+G

- Farmacy Eye Dew

skin is pretty clear, tone is even, though still tackling some dehydration due to summer/travel/etc.

PM routine is still pretty much the same as below, except have omitted the Stieva (Retin-A) and added in Odacite Summer In Hossegor more regularly.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

For the past few months I have stuck straight to my routine and my skin has been much better than usual and very consistent, only some hormonal breakouts to complain about.

I am 26, with combo/ oily/ breakout prone skin

AM routine:

Nude omega cleansing jelly

Clinique turnaround moisturizer (rosy glow)

PM routine:

Clinique take the day off balm

Nude omega cleansing jelly

Shiseido eye cream

Clinique moisture surge

Once a week treatments:

Dr. Dennis Gross ferulic + retinol peel pad, followed by Clarins Santal oil

Glam glow supermud on T-zone for oil control

*trialing the ren lactic acid radiance mask and one minute facial once a week on opposing weeks, they both seem like great products but a lot of my skincare budget is going into the Dr.denniss gross pads so I can't decide if I NEED these or not

(I know the Nude cleansing jelly is coming back but I'm Running out soon so I hope they get it back asap or I'm going to need some recommendations for alternatives... )

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Since my skin is fairly normal and not sensitive, I am not afraid to try other products so I have quite a collection of different things I will use on occasion but not regularly. Of my normal routine, the only things I'm not totally in married to are my eye creams. I have yet to find a life changing eye cream. Some of my other products were totally life changing (ARGAN OIL AND SKINLONGEVITY ARE BAE).

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Age - 26
Skin type - Normal (dry during the winter months)

Current skin condition - Normal

My skincare routine is pretty simple at the moment.

AM

1. First Aid Beauty face cleanser

2. First Aid Beauty ultra repair cream

3. Tarte tarteguard SPF 30

PM

1. First Aid Beauty face cleanser

2. Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM

That's it right now, but my skin is doing great!

I used to use the Algenist anti-aging lotion as a day cream, and use the Biotherm Aquasource for Dry Skin at night for extra moisture, but something hasn't been agreeing with my skin and I think either of those is the culprit.

I'd like to try adding the Clinique Smart Treatment Oil to my morning routine, but right now I'm still letting my skin recover from the Algenist/Biotherm situation. For the first time in a month it looks wonderful again, so I'm not willing to test anything else just yet.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

I have found my people.

Age - 32

Skin type - dry, acneic & rosacea-y tendencies

Condition - ok, dehydrated but that's nothing new (blargh), tons of acne scarring and blackheads THAT WILL NOT GO AWAY

AM:

1. NIOD LVCE (cleanser) - I don't really like this tbh. It's too runny for my tastes in a cleanser and having to remove it with a hot washcloth bums me out.

2. NIOD CAIS 1% - ??? Don't know what, if anything, this is doing

3. NIOD MMHC - same as above, but hell I'll keep using it, whatever. Supposedly these are "long term" products for the skin.

4. Hylamide Anti-Age - likey

5. Hylamide Sensitive Fix booster - I haven't noticed that this does anything to combat the redness from using a hot washcloth, so...

6. Olay Oil-Free Moisturizer - whatever

7. Le Metier de Beaute Peau Vierge - I don't know how I feel about this. I really want to love it because it was $$$, but it's not really impressing me as much as it did on the day I bought it last month. Also it has mica, which, honestly, why do they do this. NO ONE wants to sparkle on a Friday morning at an office job.

PM

Same as above until step 6.

6. Clinique Redness Solutions Daily Relief Cream - this works beautifully when my rosacea tendencies are popping up, but otherwise I don't love it

The end. Stopped using acids for awhile when I started the NIOD stuff but now that it's been a month and I haven't seen noticable/better results, I might return to chemically ripping the skin off my face...

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

now that i switched from otc lo to nuvaring, my skin is being a total jerk. acne all over my jawline, and the stubborn pih that comes with it. plus, with summertime approaching, i am now too oily for my (finally perfected) skin routine so....

this is the BEST excuse to splurge on drunk elephant. it's only logical, right? okay, i'll at least sample first. 😛

AM: DE juju bar

       proactiv revitalizing toner

       DE b. hydra sample

       tarteguard spf 30

PM: DE peekee bar

       proactiv revitalizing toner

       acne.org glycolic acid / DE t.l.c. sample

occasionally: persa gel 10% benzoyl peroxide

                    face masks here and there

no more exfolikate until my face stops exploding

i just bought those ptr invisible dot acne stickers? it feels redundant, but for $12, why not? at least i can't pick with them on. and i'm saving up for the kate somerville sunscreen. it sounds much less heavy on the face than what i'm using now.

UPDATE: i think those acne stickers made my nose cyst way worse. i look like rudolph. vacation is in two days. do not want. the jawline stuff is all cleared though, save one cyst under my chin.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

skin is rather happy lately. nose has been congested, i'd like to get a facial. but all and all, pretty good. my struggle is making sure i don't over exfoliate, but my skin is rather dependent on acids to help ward off pimples. so for the most part i stick to the gentle stuff, while every week and a half to 2 weeks i use something a bit more hardcore.

a.m.

  • cleanse with NUDE omega jelly, clarifying oil or PIXI glow mud
  • 1-2x a week i use a salicylic acid toner like AVEDA botanical kinetics exfoliant
  • spritz with MURAD essential c toner
  • if needed i use about a drop of CLARINS lotus oil.
  • AVEDA botanical kinetics hydrating lotion

p.m.

  • take makeup off CLINIQUE take the day off balm
  • cleanse NUDE omega jelly
  • exfoliate tone with PIXI glow tonic or FAB facial radiance pads
  • serum i've been reaching for lately is CAUDALIE vinoperfect radiance serum
  • facial oil, 3-4 drops. usually CLARINS blue orchid or lotus. sometimes something like KIEHLS midnight recovery or NUDE rescue oil
  • AVEDA botanical kinetics soft creme

once every 10 days to 2 weeks i use something with a bit more kick in the acid tone stage. something like REN glycol lactic radiance mask, NUDE miracle mask, or a more hardcore pad like CANE & AUSTIN miracle pads or DDG alpha beta peel (PIXI glow pads would go here, too, if i ever get them !).

about twice a week i use a mud mask in the morning. PIXI glow mud mask is my go-to still. love.

so, yeah, still basically the same products and ideas, but with a slightly different focus ?

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Great news mocha! I saw you mention to Jem you cut down your exfoliation products, how often were you using them verses now?
