Often people ask for recommendations on a skincare routine or for specific products/combinations. This might be a place to share your everyday skincare, both AM and PM. A skincare "what are you wearing" as it were. Hope this is useful.
*Age - 40
Skin type - oily/combination
Current skin condition - quite dehydrated (winter/indoor heating)*
01/17/16 - AM skincare in the order I used
1. Nude Jelly cleanser (love)
2. Pixi Glow tonic (5% glycolic toner - love)
3. Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Spritz (sample)
4. Radical Skincare Youth Infusion serum - hydrating and anti-ageing (new to me. Testing)
5. Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream (like)
6. Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine cream (really like as an AM moisturizer)
I will try to post PM skincare tonight so the post can be comprehensive.
General comments - Okay skin. Apparently the age between 38-42 is a transformational time in hormones (dehydrated skin/spots), so I am more aware of how my skin performs/reacts . My skincare definitely has more "actives" now than before.
40, oily/combo, dehydrated. Get an occasional hormonal spot.
My face tonight: 01/19/16 - PM Skincare
1. Tatcha Camelia cleansing oil (has been good for me surprisingly).
2. FAbBRadiance Peel pads - these are really a good product. I typically use stronger acid toners at night, but every so often I go mild. (love)
3. Dr.Brandt Overnight resurfacing serum - Retinol serum. Good one. It has a creamy texture which is nice in winter. (like)
4. Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream (like) - it is good and reliable.
5. Omorovicza Rejuvenating Night Cream - I might marry this. I had purchased this specifically for winter PM skincare after researching quite a lot. So it hasn't been long, but I might just squee.
Night!
1/19/16 PM routine
1. Caudalie Cleansing Oil (completely in love with this)
2. Philosophy Purity Cleanser with Clarisonic
3. Tria Eye Laser under eyes and on my forehead (on week 5 or 6 of treatment and I LOVE it)
4. Bobbi Brown Hydrating eye cream'
5. Sunday Riley Luna Oil
My night routine is pretty simple. Sometimes I'll throw on an extra moisturizer on top of Luna before I fall asleep if I'm feeling extra dry but my skin has been pretty normal lately thankfully.
Love this!
*Mid 20's
Skin type - Normal/dry & very sensitive
Concern - A nice little hormonal breakout above my right eyebrow*
AM
Washed with Sephora Cleansing Milk
Nivea Creme
Lancome Genefique serum (s/p) just under the eyes
PM
Shopper's unscented sensitive skin baby wipes (remove makeup)
Neutrogena Healthy Skin Night Cream Original
I believe in the K.I.S.S. principle when it comes to skin care.
My three constants at night are:
Farmacy Clear Bloom cleansing oil
Josie Maran Nirvana hydrating spray
Farmacy Sleep Tight night balm
Tonight I also also used:
DDG ferulic + retinol eye serum
DDG vitamin C serum (usually use daytime 2xs a week)
Dr Brandt Dream night cream
i also use aquaphor on lips and lavender cream on body
night night
ok, tonight !
1/19
CLINIQUE take the day off balm
NUDE perfect cleanse omega jelly
PIXI glow tonic (5% glycolic)
CAUDALIE beauty elixir
HYLAMIDE booster HA serum
CLARINS lotus facial oil
AVEDA botanical kinetics hydrating lotion
I've had some really awful little breakouts lately (very uncommon for me), so I've gone back to basics. Good time for me to share it.
Age: mid 20s
Skin type: normal-combo?
Current skin condition: a few small whiteheads, slightly dry chin
AM Routine
PM Routine
i usually use a few more treatment products but I'm trying to get my skin under control right now. All of the above is tested, tried and true for me
I don't touch the AM/PM lotions. The one I use is just the regular hydrating line (for normal to dry skin). I used to stay away from any products labelled for dry skin, but these won me over - they don't leave me oily at all, just comfortable.
The he bottle looks like this - I grab it when it's on sale at SDM usually
Age: 23
Skin Type: normal to dry. I don't really break out, but I do have problems with milia.
Current skin condition: dryish. Or possibly dehydrated, I still can't tell the difference.
Morning
- May Coop Raw Sauce
- OH Truth Serum
- Eye Cream (currently one from Kiko and one Caudalie, but I rotate through foils and minis)
- Moisturizer (Marcelle Hydra C or whatever sample I'm working through)
- Primer + Makeup
- Tatcha Dewy Spray
Night
- Micellar Water (first cleanse)
- Tatcha cleansing oil
- Half of a FAB pad (Alba Botanica pineapple enzyme exfoliater once a week)
- Murad Essential C Toner
- Maycoop Raw Sauce (Or Shiseido essence)
- OH Truth Serum
- Kiko eye cream
- NUDE rescue oil
- Marcelle Hydra C moisturizer
- Glossier Rose Spray
I like to use masks 2 times a week if possible. My favorites lately are: Caudalie Instant Detox, PTR Moor Mud, Erborian Bamboo Waterlock, and the NUDE Miracle mask.
General notes: I don't wash my face in the morning. I'm supes lazy. I get some very mild dermatitis around my nose which seems to act up with sunscreen and too much vitamin C. I'm looking for a new serum because of this. I'm going to go take a look at what everyone else uses but I would love some direct recommendations too.
Also, confession, I have no idea what I'm doing or if this is good for my skin. It seems to be going well. I have pretty nice skin. It could always be better, I guess.
I'm enjoying this thread!!
Here is mine:
I am in my early 30s with dehydrated acne prone skin.
AM
Cleanse with Fresh Soy Cleanser
Benton Aloe BHA Toner
PTR Camu Camu Serum
Belif Moisture Bomb
Clarins Sunscreen SPF 40
PM - last night
Remove makeup with Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Oil
Boscia Tsubaki cleansing oil gel
Benton Aloe BHA Toner
Bosica Cool Blue Hydration Essence
Rx Differin cream .1%
Belif Moisture Bomb
Once a week I use PTR Pumpkin enzyme mask. Once or twice a week I use a mask, rotating between Kate Sommerville Detox, Caudalie Purifying, and Fresh Umbrian Clay.
Sometimes I use an exfoliating cleanser when I just need a little exfoliation or I am feeling lazy.
I love MD SolarSciences…I hadn't tried it until I got a DS size from somewhere, and now I am in love ❤️
I loveeee skincare threads. Skincare is my weakness. I strive for good skin (which angers my skin) so I play with things a lot. I'm 27, combo skin, with occasional blemishes
Current PM routine:
- tatcha rice powder
- **bleep** and fab Glycolic pads
- missha essence
- Missha night ampoule
- LM rose oil
- amorepacific rejuvenating serum
- eye cream (currently a EL sample)
- amorepacific hydra gel moisturizer
It seems like a lot but it's really only 15 minutes. In between I throw in an exfoliator or a mask. In the am, I kinda wing it with some samples depending on how my skin feels
This is an interesting thread! I have just gotten into skincare recently, so my routines are still pretty minimal as I try new things. My morning routine is particularly lacking haha. I am generally not married to most of my products at this point, I use whatever deluxe samples I have lying around as I'm trying to narrow down what works for me.
I'm 29, fairly combo skin (oily forehead, normal cheeks/chin, and nose can range from oily to dry depending on the season it seems). Rare breakouts, usually hormonal. Main concern is under-eye circles, occasional dryness.
AM
- Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm (I use pretty much whatever eye cream I happen to have around - next up is PTR Laser-Free Resurfacing Eye Serum)
- Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
PM
- Boscia Makeup-Breakup Cleansing Oil (again, I'm not married to this product - I've been using whatever cleansing oil I have on hand)
- Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Face Wash (again just a deluxe sample)
- PTR Un-Wrinkle Peel Pad
- May Coop Raw Sauce
- Sunday Riley Good Genes
- Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm
- Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel
I do a mask 1-2 times per week but I never know which steps I should skip (if any) when using a mask. Help?
You won't regret it, but go with the nice little $14 bottle to start if you're unsure! I'm about to finish up my own mini bottle. I don't find it does a whole lot for how my skin LOOKS, but my face feels much smoother and softer after using it. And it smells really nice and definitely feels like a "treat yo'self" moment when you apply it.
hey ali 🙂
you probably don't need to skip any steps when you're doing a mask, but it depends on what sort of mask it is...
if you're doing a clay mask in the p.m., for example, i would use it after the PTR un-wrinkle pads. if you're doing a peel mask (that is, a mask that promotes exfoliation or radiance, and most likely contains AHAs / enzymes) then i would skip the peel pads, and use the mask in it's place. you can still use the SR good genes, but if you feel the mask was very harsh, maybe skip a night, or just use a smaller amount.
Awesome! Thank you, very helpful as always. 😃
I've been using it for about 3 weeks and I think I love it. My skin just feels really soft and refreshed all of the time. I am noticing that a lot of ladies are using it both AM and PM, so I'm thinking about adding it to my morning routine!
LOL I am not married with my morning routine. The serum and moisturizer I use in morning are mostly the deluxe samples I have around. I have to rinse my face multiple times throughout the day so I make do with what ever I have sitting around. I do whole routine in the morning and then through the day, after every rinse I just swipe the roll on eye cream and what ever moisturizer is there. I love my night routine though and have serious love affair with most of my stuff 😉
I still usually do all my steps with a mask…I just add the mask in after cleansing, mask about for a bit, then continue on with the rest of my routine. If it's a peel I will cleanse, peel, rose mask, then continue with toner, essence, nourishing serum/oil
Thanks! That is usually what I have been doing (with no ill results) but I wondered if I was doing "too much" somehow.
My skincare routine is pretty low-key. I get away with the bare minimum, as it were.
29 (30 next month!), dry skin with occasional very dry patches on chin, rare blemishes; if I haven't gotten enough sleep, I get puffy eyes in the morning, sometimes some darkness
1/18/16 - PM
CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
Stila Glowing Reviews Gentle Skin Renewal Scrub
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream
Josie Maran Argan Oil Light (just on the dry patches)
Ole Henriksen Ultimate Lift Eye Creme (not my usual, but it's a deluxe sample I'm trying to get through)
Smith's Rosebud Perfume Co. Rose & Mandarin Lip Balm
1/19/16 - AM
CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser
CeraVe AM Moisturizing Facial Lotion SPF 30
Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream
Smith's Rosebud Perfume Co. Rosebud Salve (on lips, though I use it on super dry skin patches as necessary)
NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30
What a fun thread, how come I missed it. So to start
39, Oily skin with VERY rare breakouts.
Main concern, some hyper pigmentation and under eye bags.
Current condition: pretty good for age.
01/19/16. AM.
Glamglow youth cleanse
Clarins toning lotion with iris ( for combo or oily skin)
May Coop Raw sauce
Dr Brandt Needles no more.
( I have many samples of it from some recent promos. Luckily I don't have any lines on forehead or between brows , so I use it on the outer corner of eyes and at the pocket of my horrible eye bags) It will take me a long time to use up all the stock I have)
Clinique smart serum
clinique roll on eye serum
Origin gin zing eye cream
Algenist sublime defence cream mixed with one drop of Cover Fx custom drops.
