Father's Day Gift Ideas
Hi all,   I had no idea where to post this so I did it under the category of "Products".   I am having a hard time figuring out what to get my hubby for Father's Day.  It is of course a gift from myself and my son who is 23 months.    I have had ideas like a monogram/personalized wallet, personalized pillow, men's body wash or some kind of skin product.  But I am so undecided because my hubby is SO picky.  So I usually have a hard time getting him something that he would actually like.  lol.   Last year I got him a picture frame which he loved.  Now this year, I just have no idea.  I thought of getting something from Lush Cosmetics because I heard their stuff is amazing.  Only issue is that I am not sure how it smells as I have never been in their store and when you order online and need to return, you cannot return in store, you have to return back to the company or whatever and you have to pay for shipping.  I saw some stuff on Sephora as well for men, but undecided on things for that too. lol   I need A LOT of help on this...any suggestions on ideas or gift packages or something...anything? lol.

Exfoliating Foot Masks
Hi guys - so I was recently perusing shoppers drug mart here in Canada and I came across an exfoliating foot mask called feettreat PEDI by look beauty.   Apparently they're little socks with a bunch of exfoliates/acids that you wear on your feet for 60-90minutes and then for the next two weeks your feet shed of calluses and dry skin and you end up with baby soft feet.   I, of course, couldn't resist the urge to try it! I had it on last night and waiting to see the miraculous shedding process over the next few days.   Have any of you tried a product like this before? Good/bad results? I know there are many other brands that do this sort of thing and my understanding is "Baby Feet" is the original Asian brand that came up with the concept.   For those interested, here's a link to the product that I purchased:     Results: The process was taking too long for my liking but my feet did stat to peel slightly around day 8/9 but my feet were feeling really dry. I wasn't willing to go another week waiting so I expedited the process by using a pumice stone to get all the dead skin off and then a nice foot scrub with lots of lotions. My feet feel greeeeattt!!! A bit tender as I may have been a bit rough with the stone but very soft and a good chunk of my calluses are gone.

What is your favorite skin care line and next purchase?
Hi. I was wondering what non-Sephora skin care lines everyone here loves. I have recently been checking out a lot of different lines, but I didn't realize how many there are! I am intrigued by a lot of them (Amarte, Cinq Mondes, Credentials, Dr. Loretta, Elemis, Eminence, Oxygenetix, Pevonia, PCA, Skinceuticals, Ultraluxe are examples) It's overwhelming. Has anyone tried and had great or terrible luck with any of these? A lot of the ones I am looking at are used in spas. My first thought was that a trained esthetician would know the best things for skin care, right? If anyone would be so kind to share I would appreciate it! I am also really curious about the makeup or skincare item that you all would love to try next (that you haven't tried before) at Sephora. Personally, when I get the funds, I would like to try Armani Lasting Silk Foundation, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder and Caudalie Vinexpert Night Infusion Cream. Thanks!

What price points do you associate with different beauty products?
I've realized lately that the prices I associate with different beauty products has gone up considerably. I'm sure it doesn't help being in an environment (BT ) where people are throwing $80 at an eyeshadow palette or $40 on a lipstick like that's the standard going rate and if you ever want to wear lipstick in life, it's going to run you $40+.    I know this isn't everyone's reality, and as someone who used to only wear one make-up item - mascara ($30 Chanel mascara, no less) - I pass absolutely no judgment on what anyone wants to spend on any item!   But I'm curious... Knowing that whatever price you've come to associate with an item, it reflects what you, and only you, expect to pay for that item - what rough price point you associate with different beauty items?

Regarding issues with Shu Uemura CS
Update: Although Shu Uemura could not bother to respond to either of my messages or send a shipping notification, I went back on the site and my item was marked as shipped.  A tracking number is posted that confirms it will arrive tomorrow.  I am both relieved and annoyed lol.  Alls well that ends well I suppose!     I have placed two orders with this company. The first shipped within 48 hours no problem. The second never shipped. I ordered on the 5th, so it has been 6 business days. Is this par for the course or should I be worried?   I am having trouble getting ahold of a customer service agent. I emailed them yesterday and I've gotten no response yet. Feeling impatient, I tried calling the phone number provided in my order confirmation only to find it was no longer in service. I went on their website and found a different number to call. This time, I received an automated message telling me to call back during business hours, despite the fact that I already WAS calling during business hours. I used the contact form within their website and maybe I'll get a response from them using that avenue. I may also trying calling again tomorrow.   Has anyone else had a similar issue with Shu Uemura and, if so, how was it resolved please?

Peel 101 and DDG Alpha Beta Medi-Spa Peel Review
A long long long time ago, I received DDG Alpha Beta Medi-Spa Peel from BeautyTalk for hanging out on the skincare boards too much. Actually, I think it was the first freebie I received from Sephora, but because I go at turtle speed when it comes to skincare, I just got around to finishing it up now and ready to review. Better late than never, so here it goes: Spoiler (Highlight to read) Description :  A clinical-grade weekly peel to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and pores, even skintone, and resurface skin. The Medi-Spa Peel is packed with antioxidants and a blend of 15 acids to help fight visible signs of aging, resurface, and moisturize. Step 1 is a presoaked peel pad to gently nourish and rejuvenate the skin, while the Step 2 Firming Peptide Milk neutralizes the skin and enhances acid benefits. The peel set comes with a headband, peel pads that are for step 1, and a pump bottle of neutralizing milk for step 2. The hairband is a wide clothe elastic with velcro. My hair is too slippery for this to stay so I used a hair band.    Step 1 pads have an acidic/chemical, slightly fruity scent and the pads are thick with a textured surface like soft micro felt. It did sting a bit when I applied to my face but it wasn't too bad, and it did not sting anymore after a few seconds. The pads are wet enough to use on face/neck aplenty, or if you want to be more economical, you can cut it in half and use half at a time, which would still have enough solution for you to finish your face and probably your neck.   Step 2  is a scentless white milky liquid that comes in a pump bottle. It is easy to spread but does feel a tad greasy after application. It takes 3-5 pumps to cover my face/neck. . You are suppose to wait 3-5 minutes after step 1 before using step 2 . I didn't the first time so my face was still a bit damp and sticky from the peel pad when I applied step 2, which resulted in a greasy face. If you wait until your face is no longer damp then apply step 2, your face won't feel as greasy afterward altho it may still take awhile for it to sink in completely. Do not use with products containing alcohol after the peel. You might want to also skip intense serums as well. My cheeks were itchy the week I was using Murad lightening serum possibly due to hydroquonine. I wasn't sure if we can use a moisturizer afterward, and if you have oily skin then you probably will be fine without it. If you do want to use a moisturizer like me, then wait until the milky solution from step 2 have sank in before applying it. I used Clinique Moisture Surge or FAB moisturizer on top and they work fine.    My take : While the peel pad stung a bit when applied, the sensation disappeared after I was done rubbing. My skin felt a bit greasy after step 2 and you need to wait 30-60min for it to sink in completely. If my skin was dry or sensitve when using it, the peel pads stung a bit more and my skin feels a bit dry/flaky the next day. If my skin was healthy (normally I'm combo) then the pads didn't stung as much and my skin didn't feel dry or flaky in the following days. The peel did help to rebalance my skin and bring it back to its normal condition. After a few weeks of use, I noticed my skin is a bit more accepting of the serum/moisturizers I use, the products I use sink in much easier. The skin was smooth with more refined pores. However, it did nothing for redness or acne.    The peel pads are rough, so I guess it provides physical and chemical exfoliation. One bad thing about the milk is that the bottle is opaque so you don't know how much is left. Due to the stinging during application and the dryness the next day, I would not recommend this for very sensitive skin. They say you can use Alpha Beta daily peels with it, just use this on the 7th day instead. I felt that might be too much for me, so I was using it on Saturdays with a mild peel or scrub on Wednesday.   Conclusion : While this peel did have a positive effect, I feel like it was ok for the price. I can't attest to its effect on lines/wrinkles, but so far it didn't do anything that ExfoliKate Gentle or Ole Henriksen Lemon Strip couldn't do, and those two are cheaper. If the two products I mentioned did not work for you, then by all means give this a try. A mixture of lots of acid is better than high concentration of one or two acid, so it is a good formula if you know your skin loves DDG products/peels. Spoiler (Highlight to read) If you have never used peels before or are tentative about the variety of options out there, I did a blog post about different acids, effectiveness and what to look for: -melt-off-your-face-what-you-should-know-about-pee ... ps. yes I know I'm not suppose to post links and I'm being naughty. helping my daughter/ Am I giving the right advice?
My daughter who is 22 has been having a few issues that are bothering her. First, let me tell you she is a minimalist. She doesn't wear makeup on a daily basis and her skin routine consists of washing, moisturizing, and spot treating acne bumps. She has oily but sensitive skin. She is bothered by her enlarged pores, skins ruddiness and breakouts and thinks the cleanser she has been using may be making it worse. She is also getting blackheads which she never had.  (She is currently using Innisfree jeju volcanic pore cleansing foam and seaweed mattifying day cream for her moisturizer). So, these are my thoughts: Have her begin using a charcoal cleanser to help clean the pores and make them appear smaller. If that seems to help, start having her rotate between the charcoal cleanser and an AHA cleanser to help smooth out her skin and help with the small amount of acne she gets. At that point I am thinking of having her try a moisturizer with retinyl palmitate 2 to 3 times a week at night to further help the texture of her skin.   My understanding is it is much milder than retinol. Please correct me if I am mistaken. I would have her continue to use her seaweed moisturizer (unless someone suggests something else)  on the other nights until her skin becomes acustom to the retinyl. Oh and she uses Murad 2.5% benzyol peroxide to spot treat her acne. I'm thinking she needs a stronger strength. Now, of course I would only have her start one product at a time to make sure it is working for her. If not, she would discontinue and try a different products. I know this will take time to implement but that is the best plan I could come up with to address the issues she is having. She does like to do face masks so she is looking for a good one or ones that will help her skin. So, I am 1. asking if this seems to be a good plan 2. if not, what would you change and 3. recommendations on the face washes, benzyol peroxide percentage, moisturizers, and masks. My goal is to have her get a good simple skincare routine down over the next couple months; wash, moisturize, spot treat acne, and face masks 2 to 3 times per week. Again, I would only start one product at a time and give it at least two weeks to see how her skin reacts. (Or less if it immediately reacts bad of course). Thank you all for your input. I truly value your opinions.

Do I have to break up MUFE shadow order into smaller ones to get the 3 pan/palette discounts?
I'm planning to purchase many MUFE shadows - 21 to be exact.  It looks like the $20 discount for buying three pans and the palette will work for two sets of 3 shadows, but not beyond that.  When I read the fine print it says that only one discount can be applied per order but it's giving me the $20 off twice...   Has anyone else come across this?  I can easily make multiple orders to get the discounts, but that's annoying and I don't want to have the multiple orders get cancelled.  It works out to a savings of over $100 for the whole lot, so I'm going to find a way around it even I have to make multiple smaller orders, but I don't want to waste all the shipping packaging if I can avoid it.       Thanks for your help!
